{Mt. Glenn Ruins, 1 hour after previous events}

I picked off a few wandering Grimm as the Hunter team made their way up the tower. I had begun to piece together the Fang's plan as the group made their way to the tower. Dust is such a versatile thing, the 'do-it-all' power source, I'm willing to bet that the Fang are loading a train with bombs. I just about to recenter my scope on the next Beowulf when I heard the Hunter team climbing up the final set of stairs. I got up from my prone position and made my way over to the group.

"Well, it took yall long enough to get up here. I took out another 20 Beowolves while you took your sweet time. Mind telling me what you city folks are doing all the way out here in this graveyard?" I looked down to them as they were halfway up the last flight of stairs. The Leader of the group looked up to me and returned a question.

"Do you mind telling us why you're here then?" The rest of the group looked to each other.

I nodded, "Thats fair, a question for a question, finish getting up here and I'll answer, I got some MRE's if any of you forgot to eat recently, but the pot pie is mine. The name's Lux, and I think I have some intel you'll love to hear."

I lead them to my temporary camp and got the chairs I salvaged ready. As the group finally reached the top of the stairs, I had begun to get a fire started. They approached, weapons drawn but lowered, and I looked up at them.

"I was born in the wilds, but I've grown weary... I look at the distant city lights and cannot bring myself to shed out from this life. I know I cannot adapt to such a relaxed life; besides, until I find the ones who razed my home and put them in the ground, I cannot hope to find the peace within myself. I made a little home for myself here, but the Fang have put that commitment at risk. So, why have you come here, city folk?"

Little Red looked to the Huntsman that shadowed them, then looked back to me with a confident face, "We're here to investigate the Grimm Migrations that have been occurring lately and investigate any other activity present!" Her optimism and determination were blinding to me.

I gave a small chuckle and shook my head, "Kid, what I'm about to tell you might break that brave face you got on right now. After all, it isn't every day a terrorist group hauls enough dust and Stolen Atlas Tech to wage war down here. Saw them bring in what appears to be their final shipment today actually. You could catch them tomorrow, takes time to turn all that dust into bombs... Trust." I gave a dark chuckle as the group became visibly worried with a realization, but I continued to heat up the MREs and fuel the fire. "Dinner's gonna be ready soon, best take what you like cept for the chicken pot pie that's mine." I ripped open my MRE and began to dig into the delicacy as the rest hesitantly took a seat and began to grab and eat their own personal MRE's. I wordlessly went back to eating my dinner as I moved closer to my sniper, I'd take their first watch, they might need the sleep.

As the group began to huddle together with their sleeping bags, I grabbed an MRE Pound cake from my pouch and was about to eat it when I noticed that Little Red had managed to get beside me. "Watcha need, kid? I'm taking first watch; you can go catch some Z's first." I barely glanced at her from my scope, had to stay focused on the presence of any hostiles. Then I heard a dog bark and looked down to see a small Corgi looking up at me.

"Thats Zwei, I think he likes you... Why don't you-" Red was cut off when I hesitantly let Zwei sniff my hand before petting him, and a small smile graced my face. I remembered my old dog, from before home... Isa, though you sleep eternally, you live on through my memory. Red seemed confused and worried when a tear traced its way down my face.

My gaze remained on Zwei, "It has been so long, since I lost them," I sighed, thought for a moment, and looked up to her, " Kid, I gotta warn you, there are people out there who hunt people like you, People with Silver Eyes. Get out of this job while you can, no use in dying young." She seemed confused as I looked back into the scope to see a pair of White Fang Foot soldiers in my crosshairs. "Contacts, Two White Fang Grunts near your landing site. Seem to be on patrol." Red deployed her own sniper/scythe and confirmed my report.

She stowed her weapon and reverted it to its carry form and looked to me. "I'll investigate up close, just give me some covering fire if I get caught." I nodded and chambered a round as Red turned into a blur of Rose Petals and quickly left, Zwei close behind her. I looked back to her group and saw that they were all asleep. I had a bit of time before she reached the landing zone.

I got up to wake up the rest of the group when I heard something collapse, then I heard a dog barking, The noise woke the rest of the group with the blonde brawler waking up first. She sat up, looked around still half asleep and yawned, "Don't be so loud Zwei, I'm trying to get some sleep here-" Her eyes widened when she realized where she was and deployed her gauntlets as I scanned the area trying to find Red and Zwei. A hole, with Zwei and Red's undeployed weapon next to him.

"Hey guys, you're gonna have to see this..." I gestured to the (mostly) half-asleep group for them to get close. "It would seem that your red-clad commander has found a sinkhole and has lost her weapon. I'll meet you there."

That seemed to wake them up the rest of the way. Yellow took off down the building as the rest of the group began to follow. The professor began to go down the stairs, followed by White and Black.

I however, grabbed the rope I hid in the corner of the roof, and set up a descent rappel. I attached myself to the end of my improvised rappel and began my own descent. I scoffed as I watched Yellow tank the impact of the fall with her aura.

'She doesn't know how important it is to conserve aura out here does she...'

I reached the bottom of the tower right before the rest of Red's team made it. I reached the crater right after they made it there. I looked down and quickly backed off. Even with my aura completely focused on not dying from that, I'd end up as another stain on the concrete. I looked to the professor as he gazed down the hole in thought.

"It seems that our friend may just be right... When Mountain Glenn fell, the survivors holed up in the caverns underground. But any hope of survival was dashed when another explosion connected the system to a cavern filled with grimm..."

I looked to the group, "What he's saying is, The Fang are holed up in the last monument to the folly of Mount Glenn... If i'm gonna join you down there, I'll need to stay in the back, aura can't take that many hits."

"Professor, should we really be bringing a... civilian into this?" White, the spitting image of a princess that she is tried to question my worth here.

"Well Ms. White, I've survived up here by myself just fine... Just think of this as a... Learning experience. Bonus marks if I make it out completely unharmed." I snarked.

White spluttered for a moment, "I'm not questioning your experience, and its Weiss. I just don't feel comfortable dragging a civilian into this."

I drew my Semblance, checked its chamber, and holstered it, "Well Weiss, they kinda forced me into this when one of their patrols tried hunting me... Course I'm the one who ain't dead... yet." That threw Yellow and Weiss off, Black just looked down in shame as the Professor gave a disappointed sigh. "What, its not like your hands are going to remain free of blood much longer. When we go down there, lives will be lost... If my predictions are correct, and I'm praying to every god out there that they're wrong, then if the Fang get a train repaired enough, all of Vale is going to be hurting. It'll be Mount Glenn 2.0!"

"What do you mean by that?" Black finally decided to talk to me. "The White Fang wouldn't..." She trailed off, she was hiding something...

My eyes narrowed, "Well miss, Extremists do love some chaos, and what better way to cause chaos then plowing a train through the walls that keep Mount Glenn Quarantined from Vale?" I looked back down the hole and winced, "Hey Professor, I need to set up a rappel, my aura ain't enough to survive that fall."

"It's Doctor, and you will be coming down with me. If Ruby is down there..." (He deploys his weapon), "We must find her."

The Doctor and I got the system ready. After nodding to him that the rope was secure, I looked to the incomplete team, "You heard the good Doctor! No man left behind!" The team jumped down as I used another makeshift rappel system and we descended into what could be described only as a monument to all of our sins.

Imma be honest here... Quality kinda went down... Just gotta work out the kinks here and there and I'll be back at it. Gotta work on dialogue, that seems to be my biggest issue here...

Next chapter 'll be a flashback, Lux knows more than he lets on.

Transmat firing.
