There is some kind of beeping sound as I slowly came to consciousness. I opened my eyes to find myself in some kind of hospital room, but I knew that it wasn't the hospital wing at Hogwarts.

I remembered what had happened before I woke up here. I defeated the dark wizard, Voldemort but everyone turned on me, apart from George, Luna, Draco and Neville. But Ron, Hermione, Ginny, Mrs and Mr Weasley and some other people who didn't die at the battle of Hogwarts turned on me. I had a trial, but fake evidence that was left behind by Dumbledore. During the trial I found out that he paid Hermione and Ron to be my friend all those 7 years ago.

The mystery of magic banished me to a different dimension, which is here, wherever here was.

I looked out of the window, to see tall buildings, some were whole and others looked destroyed and ready to collapse.

I could hear a door opening, I turned my head to see some people. There was a man that looked kind, but his aura seemed dark and he reminded me of my Uncle Vernon, who did everything in his power to make me miserable. He used to beat me with his belt, locked me in the cupboard under the stairs, and made me cook. Basically, I was his slave, but he'd never touch me in a sexual manner, he tried one time, but my magic (at the time, I didn't knew that I was a witch) and it blasted him into a wall, he'd never tried again after that.

There is a woman in a blue outfit, looking like a serious business woman with shoulder length hair and cold blue eyes. A black woman, in very bright clothes, smiles at me kindly. She has a wicked scar across her face, I wondered how she got that. An asian man in a black and white suit was standing there and there is another black man with deep creases in his dark skin, gray hair at his temples and he has very dark eyes that has some kind of kindness, yet coldness of his own. Some looked relieved and others not as much.

"Who are you?" I asked them.

"At least you seem better." the man with the bad aura said. "You had us all worried, I'm Marcus Eaton. One of the Dauntless found you just outside of the wasteland of the wall."

I wondered what he meant. But he wasn't done there, he kept introducing the other people.

"-this is Jeanine Mathews, she is the faction leader of Erudite." he said, gesturing to the blonde hair woman.

"This Max, he is the faction leader of Dauntless, the fearless faction who portal our streets."

Max, the black man, gave me a nod.

"This is Jack Kang, the faction leader of Candor, the honest faction."

While I don't understand when he says Faction, it can't' be good, but I listen to the next two of them before I ask any question of my own.

"This is Johanna, she is the faction leader of Amity, where they harvest our vegetables, but also the happiness faction."

That sounds like heaven to me, a place where you can be happy all the time? I would love that as a kid, but after everything, not so much.

"As you know, I'm Marcus Eaton, I am the leader of the Abnegation faction, the selfless faction, we also help out those who need our help, like the factionless. Any questions?"

So…the factions are like the Hogwarts houses, Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Slytherin and Hufflepuff.

"Where am I?"

"You're in Chicago, or at least, with what's left of it." Max said, he has a very deep voice. "You've been here for a week, unconscious."

At least that made sense with how stiff my body feels. I sat up, running a hand through my long black hair.

"Now, what's your name?" Marcus asked.

"Helen Potter." I told them honestly. "I'm 17."

"There is no way you're 17, you look younger." said Jeanine Mathrews.

"I look younger because I wasn't treated nicely when I was a kid."

Johanna looked very sympathetic to me, like she knew how it was. There is something on Marcus' face, but I couldn't figure out what. But it was not sympathy.

"I see." Marcus said, in a blank voice. "In a few days you'll be doing the choosing ceremony, which will lead you to your faction."

I raised an eyebrow and gave him a look of stubborness, it will be like Hogwarts all over again. "If I refuse?"

"Then you'll leave or be factionless, homeless." Max said, bluntly.

I knew I had no choice but nodded my agreement. As long as it's not anywhere near him, I'll be okay.

The next few days went by quickly, soon Max was escorting me to this mysterious choosing ceremony, I was worried about this a little bit. But what else could I do but do as they say….

For now.

A woman was there, judging by the clothes that she was wearing, similar to Max's clothes, she must be dauntless. She has small, dark skin, angular brown eyes, hair is black and straight, but I can see the gray streaks in it and wears a black blazer. It is when she turns around to see me, I see a tattoo at the back of her neck, some kind of hawk with a red eye.

Mirrors cover the inner walls, making Helena feel naked despite she has a gray shirt on (Marcus brought it from Abnegation) black jeans (Max gave him those) and white trainers (Johanna gave him those as a gift.)

The ceiling glows white with light, in the center of the room is a reclined chair. It actually looked like a dentist office, or some kind of mad scientist office.

It looked like a place of terrible things that could happen to you at any time of the day.

"Don't worry," she said, not quite looking at him as she did a few things on the computer in front of her. "It won't bite."

"Have a seat and get comfortable." the woman said to her. "My name is Tori."

"Helen Potter." I said, trying to be polite.

"You don't look like Helen, you look more like a Hela."

"Like from the Norse stories?"

"Yeah, now sit."

I sit on the dentist seat, laying back. She puts some wires on each side of my upper chest, above my breasts. I didn't ask about the hawk, it wasn't my business after all.

She must've noticed me looking at the tattoo. "In some parts of the ancient world here, the hawk symbolized the sun." she explained as she finishes with the wire on my temples. "But when I got this, I figured I always had the sun on me, I wouldn't be afraid of the dark."

"You're afraid of the dark?"

I haven't been afraid of the dark since I was put into my cupboard under the stairs, but there were times at Hogwarts I would sleep with a small light on from my wand (after I learnt the lumos spell) or a small torch.

"I was afraid of the dark, kid." she corrects presses a new wire to her own forehead. She shrugs. "Now it reminds me of the fear I've overcome."

Tori stands behind me, I squeeze the armrests tightly, feeling seriously nervous about this.

Ever since the graveyard in my fourth year at Hogwarts, I don't like it when people left my sight, it makes me nervous.

She passes me a vial of liquid, I look at it mistrustingly. I barely trust any small vials now ever since Professor Snape threatened me with a truth potion in my fourth year.

"Drink it up, kid."

"What is it?"

"Bottoms up."

I took it from her and gulped it in one shot, it didn't taste like anything, but my eyes closed.

When I opened them I was in Hogwarts, the great hall. I was in the same clothes that the faction leaders gave me.

On the gryffindor table there is a bowl of ham and the other has a knife, sharp as a hunter blade and long as my forearm.

"Choose." a woman's voice says.

"Why?" I asked, trying to recall if I knew this voice or not.

"Choose."

I looked over my shoulder, but no one was there. I turn back to the baskets, wondering what I'm supposed to be doing with them.

"Choose before it's too late."

Suddenly, there was an angry growl of a dog. I turned around, expecting a fight, it looked like Marge's, one of Vernon's sister's bulldogs.

How she hated that damn dog. It's one of the reasons why I was frightened of Fang, Hagrid's dog when he first met the dog during her first year.

I turned around to see the bowl's empty. I wanted to run more than anything, but I knew a bit about dogs now. So I sit on my knees, surrendering.. I heard a high pitch whine, I looked to see a puppy. I pet it hesitantly behind its ears.

"A Puppy!"

I looked to see a little girl, in a gray Abnegation dress and bun, but suddenly, she looked afraid.

The bulldog starts to growl again and chases the little girl. I got back to my feet and run after it, throwing myself to it and the both of us melted into the ground.

I opened my eyes again, to find myself in the quidditch pitch, I looked around and I saw Remus, one of my godfathers that died during the battle of Hogwarts. Even seeing him in an illusion, it hurts badly because it's a reminder that I will never see him again until I die.

"Remus!" I said, running to him, wrapping my arms around him.

Sometimes I wished I could've told him how I accepted him and how I wished I could have stayed with him after my parents were killed.

"Helen…do you know this man?"

I looked to see he was holding a newspaper, a muggle newspaper to see a man that still scares me to this very day.

"No."

"You're lying, Bambi."

Bambi had been my nickname, like Sirius' was Padfoot and Remus' nickname had been Mooney and my dad's nickname had been Prongs.

"No, I'm not."

"DON'T LIE TO ME!"

"I'M NOT, REMUS!"

I snapped my eyes open, tears glistening from my eyes, then I felt Tori's hand grab my upper arm, dragging me off the chair, walking me to the door.

"Wha-?"

"You need to go."

"What were my test results?" I asked, wondering if I had failed or something.

"You're going back to your room, telling them the test made you feel sick. Your test was inconclusive."

"What was it?" I repeat.

"Dauntless, Abnegation and Amity. Basically, they called it, Divergent." Tori explained. "But you cannot tell anyone of this, especially the Faction leaders."

I blinked but Tori pushed me out gently. She looked like she wanted to ask me something, but seemed to change her mind about it.

I walked to my room in a complete daze, like my body was acting on its own, but my mind was shut down. I crawled into my bed and cried again for the fourth time that week.

The very next day, though, I picked my faction and I wonder what was in store for me that was to come.
