Vanitas' Point of View

I watched her walk away and found myself intrigued. She was a strange one, though I hadn't known many girls other than Aqua. She was stupid but confident. I admired her ability to brush off her mistakes and hold her head high. She hadn't even seemed fazed by her confinement, though that was one of the easiest punishments I had ever received. Something stirred inside me, though I wasn't sure what it was. It felt like a mix of excitement and something else. Something close to happiness, but not quite. I couldn't figure it out, so I shoved it aside and strolled over to my room.

Saix barged in as I was resting. "I spoke with Alison."

I sat up on my bed. "Yeah? How did that go?"

"I told her about you being one of us. Hopefully, she won't give you any more trouble."

"Oh, I think she'll still give me trouble. She doesn't strike me as the type of person to make things easy," I chuckled.

"I suppose... She hasn't given me any problems," Saix commented.

"Really? That's surprising," I said.

"Perhaps she's interested in you," Saix suggested.

"What? No. That's the opposite of how she feels. Trust me," I scoffed.

Saix turned to leave, but I remembered how I felt as she walked away and wondered if Saix knew what it meant.

"Hey, Saix?" He turned back to me. "Do you know what it is if you feel... I don't know... excited, and... maybe... happy, but not exactly like that. Like, like you want to be around something... or someone?"

A hint of mischief appeared in Saix's eyes. "Oh? It sounds like you're attracted to someone. Could that someone, by any chance, be Alison?"

My face grew hot for whatever reason, spreading all the way to my ears. "What?" I choked. "I mean, what?" I asked in a more normal voice. "That can't be right. I'm probably just coming down with something."

Saix's mouth grew into a smirk. "Yes, I'm sure that's it," He teased.

"You're crazy," I snapped.

Saix laughed. "Be sure I get an invitation to the wedding," He joked as he left my room.

"Crazy lunatic," I mumbled to myself. But was he? I had to ask myself if it could have been possible that I was attracted to Alison.

1/8/2023: This chapter has been edited. I completely rewrote it and gave it a new title to match. Still the same idea, but I wanted to make it slightly less comical. (Or at least what I thought was comical at the time.
