Brittany's Point of View

I was so hurt that I didn't want to turn back. I kept running until I found a place to spend the night. I decided on an alley I stumbled across. It wasn't very sanitary, but I didn't want to be found. If I had been somewhere someone might see me, I would be asked questions or recognized and brought back to the castle immediately. I curled up in a ball and fell asleep.

Riku's Point of View

There was a long hard knock on my door that woke me up. As much as I wanted to ignore it, I knew it could be important, so I got out of bed and opened the door to find Ienzo. "What is it?" I questioned.

"It's Brittany. I had... I had taken her to see the fountains. I thought she might enjoy the view, but then Xigbar came and told her about Alison's whereabouts. Brittany ran off on me, and I need help looking for her," Ienzo explained.

"You- You what?! Why would you leave the castle grounds with her without me knowing?!" I exclaimed.

Ienzo glared at me with his singular visible eye. "I'm not getting into this now. The important thing is finding Brittany."

"No, go on. What makes you think that you can just walk out of here with my daughter without my permission?" I questioned, unable to let it go.

"Because I know her better than you do and because while you're concerned with keeping a tight leash on Brittany, I'm concerned about her well-being. She trusts me more than she trusts-" Ienzo was interrupted by my fist flying toward his face, quickly making contact. Ienzo took a step back and wiped blood from his lower lip. "Is this the type of behavior she's supposed to emulate? You're practically making all of my points for me."

"Shut up. I don't need you concerning yourself with my daughter's well-being anymore," I snapped before shutting my door on Ienzo.

I quickly changed and went out looking for Brittany, calling out her name. I looked in every nook and cranny until finally, I found her asleep in an alley. I picked her up, careful not to wake her, and began to carry her home. Though I knew she couldn't hear me, I spoke softly to her anyway.

"Hey, Brittany. My little girl. You've grown up so much. I don't even recognize you anymore. Why would I? I haven't seen you since... well, it's been a while. I hope you know that I really wanted to be there, but the less contact you had with anyone from the outside world, the safer you were. Not to mention, if I had gone back to see you... I'm not sure I could have let you go again. I hope that doesn't make me a bad father. At least I'm better than my father. I hope I am, anyway. Maybe Ienzo is right, and I failed entirely." I tensed as Ienzo came into my thoughts. "Brittany, do you really trust Ienzo more than you trust me? How did that happen? I should never have let him see you. I struggled so much with him being a different person now that he's recompleted, and I'm over it now, but I still can't fathom my own daughter trusting him more than me. If you were awake, I hope you would tell me that I have nothing to worry about because I'm your father, and he's not, but I'm too much of a coward to ask." I looked at my sleeping daughter and sighed as I continued my trek back to the castle.

Another short chapter. I did keep my word when I said that this chapter would be longer than the last... It's just not that much longer than the last. I feel so pathetic, having two short chapters in a row. Sorry. By the way, I'm making the official Vanitas and Alison ship name Vanison. Satsuki Rai, the story's new Favoriter and Follower, created it. Thank you, Unicron1000, for your review.

FanFictionReader225: Yeah, it is a great movie. Have you heard about the new movie that's coming out called Pixels? It looks like it's going to be a little bit like a teen version of Wreck it Ralf.

v.t.7: You make an excellent point. Maybe she should get a tummy ache.

2/12/2023: This chapter has been edited. I also added some tension between Riku and Ienzo.
