Chapter 27

It was another day at school for the group as the party did their best to enjoy themselves, Mike especially was trying hard, feeling embarrassed.

'Everybody knows now...about me, about what happened to me, about dad throwing me out…' He noted sadly to himself. 'But, it didn't pan out quite like Troy thought.'

That gave Mike some relief, for his actions in outing Mike and his disgusting treatment of Mike as well as his homophobia Troy was now expelled from school and would likely face further issues from the police. It gave Mike some breathing room and it certainly scared James off from further coming after him.

"Mike, you okay?"

Mike felt not to blush as he turned in response. "I'm okay Will, really. It's not so bad now."

"Yeah, I guess." Will agreed, nodding.

They both knew that things were indeed easier at least in school for Mike. But Will was still concerned how things would go for Mike in terms of his family. That wasn't all that bothered him however.

'Mike...I, I wish I could do something to help you with your, your feelings.' He reflected sadly. 'I feel so strongly for you, but do you...do you feel the same, or is it Spider-Man you have a crush on? Am I really good enough, if you knew I was Spider-Man, would that change things for you?'

He couldn't help but feel if he was to reveal that to Mike, it would drastically change things, something which left him feeling strange and not necessarily in a good way. What Will did not realize yet again was that Mike was once more dealing internally with that conflict of his growing feelings for both Will and Spider-Man at that very moment.

Meanwhile, walking to class together, Max smiled lightly with Lucas, before she made up her mind.

"So, Lucas I was thinking…" She began, getting his attention. "Maybe we should do something over the weekend?"

Lucas tilted his head. "Oh, you mean um, like a date or something?"

Max nodded. "Yeah, of course."

Lucas grinned at that. "Well, what should we do?"

"That's what we need to work out." Max laughed.

"Well, let's see…" Lucas considered. "What sort of thing could we both do that we both enjoy?"

Max playfully smacked his arm. "Stop being coy."

They both laughed but they did indeed begin discussing their plans with each other, trying to figure out where to go on their date. At the same time, Mike and Will had arrived at their next class which was when Will remembered something.

"Oh Mike, um...after school today, Jonathan's bringing Nancy around to see you, she wants to talk."

Mike turned to Will. "Um, okay...are they-?"

"Relax, they accept you, trust me it's just your dad that has a problem and it's his problem." Will insisted.

Mike did his best to relax hearing that. Before considering something else on his mind.

"I have to ask Will, do you not still find it kinda weird that my sister and your brother are together?"

Will gave a short laugh at that. "Oh Mike, you have no idea. I mean, can you imagine them, you know?"

Mike groaned and covered his eyes. "I don't want to imagine that, Will, thanks a lot. I can't unsee that now."

Will just laughed, Mike at least seemed eased up by now.

Arriving at his own class, Dustin was surprised to see a familiar face seated at the desk next to his, Suzie.

'Oh my…' He thought in amazement. "Suzie?"

She looked up and grinned. "Dustin, hi. How are you?"

Dustin swallowed. "Um, I'm good yeah, just, surprised to see you."

"I've been in this class for a while now." Suzie explained. "We've just not really noticed each other before now."

Sitting down Dustin nodded, that made sense.

"So um...how have you been, ever since, well-?" Dustin asked hesitantly.

Suzie smiled warmly at that. "I'm fine, thanks to you. I never got the chance to actually thank you properly for saving me."

"Oh um, it's...it's nothing." Dustin replied quickly, blushing at the way she smiled warmly at him as she said that.

He had to admit, he knew he and Suzie had only really just met but he certainly already found her pretty and was beginning to feel a warm feeling within him.

One he was reasonably certain about. 'Am I...Am I really forming a crush on her already?'

He had to admit, it was a surprise, but not necessarily an unwelcome one. As he and Suzie simply started talking, passing time till class began, things became much easier between them and they would become more comfortable with each other. But it was clear that Dustin was forming a crush on Suzie while she was still truly grateful to him for saving her life from the incident at the Mayor's Rally.

Leaving school that day, Mike saw Nancy at once, she was waiting by her car outside the school building. Taking a deep breath, Mike approached his older sister and was glad to see no judgement in her face, Will was telling the truth.

"Mike, I'm so sorry about all this." She said quickly.

Mike shook his head. "It's okay Nancy, you couldn't have done anything."

She sighed but then both siblings hugged and were clearly relieved.

"Listen Mike, can you come to mine and Jonathan's apartment?"

Mike was confused but nevertheless he nodded. "Yeah, of course."

So they got in the car and began to drive away. As they did so Nancy sighed sadly.

"So...I heard everything about what happened with dad." She said.

Mike nodded. "It...it was Troy's fault anyway, he's the one who exposed me, but he's paying for it. I just wish Dad could be made to pay for it."

Nancy looked grim as she replied. "I'm sure he will and soon."

Mike was a little taken aback by this. But before he could ask anything they arrived and got out. Nancy gave him a small smile as they headed up to the apartment.

"I know you tried to drop by that night. You should've come in, Jonathan and I wouldn't have minded." She told him.

Mike sighed. "I...I didn't want to interrupt you guys, you clearly had something planned."

Nancy just sighed and shook her head at that. But then she opened the door and Mike stepped in, seeing why Nancy wanted to bring him to the apartment, for standing there, looking relieved to see him, was Karen.
