Disclaimer: I do not own Naruto and it's characters. This is just a product of my wild imagination.
212 days before the incident
If someone will bother to ask me what's my favorite season of the year, I will immediately answer, spring. Why? Because spring signifies the beginning of a new life. Flowers start to sprout and trees are regrowing their leaves. And the weather starts to get warmer.
Also, it is the start of a new school year. I like school even though only few know of my existence. In school I can breathe. I don't feel suffocated unlike here in our house where every move I made is subjected to my father's judging eyes.
I looked at the mirror for one last time and satisfied with how I look, I proceeded on my way to school.
I am in the same class as last year. I looked around and everyone of them is busy chatting with their circle of friends.
Tamaki, the girl with long brown hair and hazel eyes gave me a nod and a brief smile when she saw me enter the class. We're classmates since middle school, we used to talk and hanged out but when we entered highschool we drifted apart. Maybe because we have different priorities and likes now. The last time we actually talk was last year. She asked me if I wanted to adopt a stray cat as they already have plenty. Unfortunately, my father did not allow me to have a pet.
At the left corner of the class room, is a group of students chatting boisterously. It mainly consist of some of the most popular students in school.
There's Kiba, a member of our school basketball team and beside him is Shino, who seemed like he doesn't want to be in the group. At his back, holding a snack is Choji, on his right is Shikamaru, the lazy genius. He could easily top any exam if he isn't too lazy. I remember, during an exam I was sitted next to him and he only answered the first two pages of our exam and slept through out the rest of the time and he still manage to pass with good grades.
Then there's Naruto Uzumaki, he's Mr. Sunshine. Of all the students in school, he's probably the easiest to talk with. He always greet everyone he saw with that bright smile of his.
Opposite him, sandwiched between two girls with the look of annoyance on his face is none other than Sasuke Uchiha. He is the son of one of the wealthiest men in our country. I don't know much about him, except the fact that girls are willing to kill each other to win him.
On his left, the blonde cheer captain Ino Yamanaka. She's probably the prettiest girl in our school with her natural blonde hair and green eyes. On the right, the one who rival Ino in beauty, sat Sakura Haruno. She's our class representative and she's sweet to everyone except when you try to get close to Sasuke.
It is fun to look at them. A group of mismatched people, wandering how on earth they ended up in the same circle. Other students in school, look at them with pure adoration. Some with envy, wanting to belong. But me? I am just amused.
Perhaps, I've been looking for too long already, that Sasuke Uchiha looked back at me. The intensity of his gaze made me look down at my desk. Slowly, so it wouldn't be obvious, I let my hair cover my face as I busied myself pretending there's something interesting in my table.
"What are you looking at?" I heard Naruto asked.
"Nothing." Sasuke answered.
I bowed my head a little lower, so they wouldn't notice me.
"That's Hinata." Naruto said again in his cheery voice.
And I can feel his gaze at me.
"You're staring at her?"
"You mean Hinata Hyuga? " Ino asked.
I did not dare to look. She and Sakura are probably sending me death glares.
"People do stare at her. With those freaky white eyes they are actually something to stare at." Sakura said with false sweetness in her voice.
Well, she has a point anyway. People stare at me because they got freaked out with my almost white eyes.
"Her eyes are actually interesting." It is Kiba.
Now, everyone is staring at me. I wanted the earth to swallow me. I never wanted attention but why are they looking at me?
"I heard rumors why they have their eyes. They said that Hyugas are product of inbreeding." Ino said with malice in her voice.
I heard Sakura laughed and agreed. It is a rare occurrence that the two agree on something. Then I heard my other classmates starting to whisper with one another. I wanted to cry.
"Stop it." It is Naruto." It is not our concern how did she get her eyes."
"You finally said something with sense." Sasuke said in his usual cold voice. "It is not interesting to talk about the lives of others."
"Yes, I agree with you." Sakura agreed in sweet voice. "Girls who listen to rumors are usually girls without class."
"So you're implying I don't have class?" Ino said in a rather angry voice.
"Whatever you think, pig."
"Shut up billboard head!"
Their bickering only stop when our home room teacher came in. Kurenai sensei is our homeroom teacher and English teacher. She seemed strict but kind.
The rest of the day, thankfully passed by without anymore commotion. For this year we still have Kakashi sensei for science, Azuma sensei for Math and Gay sensei for PE. We also have other new teachers.
Just before I went out of school, I decided to visit our club room to return the books I borrowed last school term.
I am a member of book club. The least popular club and there are only four members. Me, two upper classmen and a boy in my year. It is a mystery why the school hasn't shut our club yet.
As I entered our club room, I was surprised to see Sasuke, sitting on the floor behind a book shelf.
"What are you doing here?" I asked.
"Hiding. Could you please close the door." He answered annoyed.
"Hiding from whom?" I asked as I close the door but I already have an idea from whom.
Soon enough we heard footsteps and the familiar voice of Sakura calling out for him.
If Sakura would open the door and saw me with Sasuke, it would be the end of my quiet school life. So without thinking twice, I turned off the light and pulled Sasuke behind the last book shelf in the room. If someone opens the door they will not notice us.
When Sakura opened the door she was greeted by an empty club room. A minute of looking around before she closed the door and left.
"That's close." I sighed
"Yeah." Sasuke agreed. "Thanks."
"Oh that's nothing. I just don't want Sakura to see me with you."
"I know the girl has a reputation." He sighed.
"Anyway, if I were you, I will wait for another ten minutes before going out." I said as I stood up.
I turned on the light and proceeded on stocking the books I borrowed while he is there, silently watching me.
After almost fifteen minutes, Sasuke stood up and walked towards the door. But he looked at me, not with his usual cold stare.
"Thanks again. And you might see me again here you know Sakura."
"Yeah. Don't worry." I said awkwardly as I was caught off guard on how he looks that moment.
I watched his back as exit.
And just like that, Sasuke Uchiha had entered my quiet life.
