Chapter One – Introduction and background
Amy is a cheerful 19-year-old pink hedgehog from Angel Island. She moved to Green Hills with her older brother Sonic, who is a blue hedgehog and is 22 years old, to attend Chaos University. There, they have met many people such as Tails, an orange two-tailed fox, Cream, an orange rabbit, Knuckles, a red echidna, Rouge, a flirtatious bat, Silver, a silver hedgehog, Blaze, a purple cat, and Sally, a brown chipmunk. They are all friends, and often work together to defeat Dr. Eggman, an evil scientist who wants to dominate the world with his robots.
One day, while Cream and Rouge were hanging out with Amy at her dorm, Amy suddenly squealed loudly! "Eeeeeeeeh!" Cream jumped up in fright and screamed. "Sorry, you scared me!" Cream pouted as Rouge playfully rolled her eyes. "What is it, Amy?" Amy tried to calm down as she said: "I just got accepted to spend a week in the Amazon as part of an extra-credit project!" Soon, all three girls were jumping up and down, squealing with delight. They stopped when they heard several people banging on the door, saying: "Quiet down!" Amy flushed with embarrassment as she yelled out apologies to everyone. She started throwing things in a big suitcase: Clothes, devices, gadgets, beauty products, everything she could find! "I've got to hurry, I leave tomorrow! Tell everybody the news! Eeeeh! I'm so excited!" Rouge and Cream ran out, desperately trying to avoid the avalanche of random things flying to Amy's suitcase.
Soon, Amy found herself waiting outside campus with a huge suitcase, backpack, and Sonic beside her. The taxi finally arrived, and Sonic helped Amy put her suitcase and backpack inside the trunk of the taxi. "Good luck sis, I'm proud of you, stay safe." Amy hugged him, before jumping into the taxi and waving Sonic goodbye. She had a whole new adventure waiting for her…
Amy excitingly squealed as the taxi driver rolled his eyes. Amy playfully scoffed and put on some headphones. But soon, something was off. She felt her stomach twist into knots, and she had a gut feeling that something was wrong. She looked through the windows, but instead of seeing the ramp to the airport, she saw a dark and brooding forest. She gulped, and suddenly felt her heart race. Everything went past like the speed of light. She yelled and cried, trying to get the attention of the taxi driver, who had an insane grin on his face, before the car smashed into a tree. Glass shattered; the airbags inflated…Amy felt everything go dark…
The sound of hospital machines beeping, doctors talking, a water faucet…the sounds filled Amy's ears as her eyes slowly opened, before shutting again at the sight of a blinding light. She opened her eyes again, slowly adjusting to the light. She saw blurry figures murmuring amongst themselves before they gasped and ran to her.
"Where am I…" Amy asked weakly as she sat up, rubbing her eyes and wincing at her body, which was aching terribly. "Amy Rose, I'm Doctor Steven. You were involved in a severe car crash in on of Mobius's many forests. You are at Emerald Hospital." Amy looked confused and felt worried. "I did?" Doc. Steven nodded, as he whispered to a nurse beside him: "Bring me her charts stat. The nurse obeyed and went to look for Amy's charts. Meanwhile, Doc. Stevens said: "Do you remember anything about yourself, how you got here, what day it is?" Amy thought for a moment, before saying: "My name is Amy Rose, I'm from Angel Island, and I'm 19." The nurse came back and handed Doc. Stevens some charts, and he asked: "What do you last remember?" Amy talked as she tried to remember: "I was in a taxi…going to the airport. I can't remember anything after that, only that everything went dark." The nurse asked Amy an important question. "What day is it today, Amy?" Amy stuttered: "M-May 16, 2021." The nurse shot Doc. Stevens a nervous look, before saying "Today is November 10, 2023."
Amy's face went pale as she looked at the calendar beside her, proving the nurse's statement true. She started breathing fast and short. Her heart raced. The only thing that could fill her mind was: I just missed two years of my life! She screamed and cried. "You're lying! Where's Sonic?! And my friends and family!? Where are they all?!" Doc. Stevens and the nurse held Amy down to prevent her from getting up and injuring herself. "Tell me everything that happened! NOW!"
