Melody Files: The Black Pox
Intro: The world has seen many of different epidemics.
The Middle Ages was the time of the Black Death where rats began spreading bubonic plague, causing at least 17% of Europe to die from the diseases.
Spanish Flu took the world by storm by wiping out at minimum 1% of the population die to Influenza.
But nothing could compare to the horrors of Black Pox.
Taking the world in a similar manner like the Black Death, Black Pox could be seen as the big bad brother of the lot, with a death toll that was even higher than that of the Black Death.
Origins: Currently, origins of the disease are unknown. Some say that the disease originated in the poorer sections of South America before they spread worldwide. As of right now, scientists at Melody are currently trying to work out and discern the origin of said disease, with low success.
They are sure that it may have originated in poorer areas filled with dirty waters and unclean streets where evolved vermin began festering and spreading their disease. It started in the poorer villages of South America before it started to spread worldwide.
Many homes and cities were badly effected. Lived lost, reaching 5 million around the world and unlike the Black Plague, many belongings of those affected had to be torched.
Not only was a substantial amount of lives were lost, but also sentimental belongings and large amount of valuables were destroyed.
Melody is doing all they can to try and prevent the spread of Black Pox, but our efforts are slow going. But one day, we may develop a vaccine that can halt and prevent the spread of Black Pox going even further.
But until then, anyone that had passed away from Black Pox, any items they use to have will be burnt to prevent the spread of infection.
This is the Head Scientist, signing out.
~Airport~
You know that movie from 2010, She's Out of My League?
There was one airport scene where the main heroine wound up attracting the attention off every single male in the airport, both young and old.
She even had to deal with the perverted security staff before meeting the one.
Well, that was currently playing in real life for Haiku.
Soon as she entered the airport, a lot of the males gawked and stared lustfully at the gothic 21-year-old woman coming in. They eyed her luscious figure, especially her swaying hips and large butt. When Logan came close, it did avert a few of them but not much.
Turns out, a few of them LOVE MILFs. Luckily Lincoln came in and wrapped a hand around her waist, allowing her to cuddle close to him, which stopped them from lusting over her. Most of them weren't after a married woman.
Still…It didn't stop a few of them.
Right now, they were at the security section of the airport and the two adults were looking in scorn at the security staff as they drooled over their behaviour in front of them. A blonde haired bombshell, with long blonde hair and blue eyes, dressed in a white tank and blue shorts, as she was searched by the staff, all of them were drooling over the woman. The one running the detector over her sides was grinning over the up close and personal interaction he has as he and his friends checked her out.
"Disgusting…" Haiku growled as she covered her son's eyes, much to his annoyance.
"I can go over there and kick their asses if you want." Lincoln offered with a smirk.
"I'd love that, but you cannot get in trouble. Remember last time?" She said with a raised brow.
Lincoln shuddered. He remembered that time vividly.
Haiku was 17 and Logan was 1. She was taking a stroll in the park when some random pimply nerd came up to her. He was clearly trying to hit on her but she wasn't interested. But, the guy showed signs of being an incel as he began to harass her, saying she should be honoured someone would go for a teen mom like her.
Haiku glowered but luckily Lincoln was in the area and proceeded to beat the living daylights out of him. It got the attention of an officer who tasered him and took the two of them into custody. Luckily, he was understanding as the pimply punk had a history of harassing any woman.
Lincoln only got a day in jail, while the prick was sent off.
But Lincoln had ten minutes alone with him.
And it was all he needed.
After that, Haiku's uncle came in and congratulated him for defending his wife's honour and got a warning to not mess up again.
"Tasers suck." he grumbled
"Still.' Haiku turned to her husband. 'I appreciated what you did for me." She said with a smile before crossing her arms under her C-cup sized breasts, making them pop out. "Just don't show that side to Logan." She added in a stern voice.
Lincoln gazed at his wife. There wasn't much of a reason why the males in the airport were drooling over her. She was wearing a dark purple dress with short sleeves that hugged her curves tightly, with a slit on the sides to show off her toned thighs and a swooping neckline to show a bit of her cleavage.
Bringing her closer, so their lips were close to touching.
"Hey. I only show that side to those that are close to me. Logan, my family…' They moved even closer as they held a chaste kiss. 'And you"
Haiku blushed as they shared a gentle kiss, which garnered a lot of attention from everyone else. The guys whooped and cheered over Lincoln kissing the gorgeous gothic MILF or were moaning in dismay at the fact she was married. The young girls awed at the display of affection, like a fairy tale. A few gagged at the display of affection but they were just kids.
One was their own son.
"Ugh, Mom! Dad! Please! Not in public!" He groaned as the two separated to see their son covering his eyes.
Both smirked at his childish display.
"Oh fine, sport.' Lincoln said as he ruffled his hair, much to his annoyance. 'But one day, you'll be doing the same thing with your wife. Or husband. I don't judge"
Logan managed to shake his father's hand off his head before pouting at the thought.
"Nope! No way! Nuh-uh! That won't ever happen!" He said with his nose in the air.
Both chuckled as they shook their heads as they were up next. Logan went through the scanners as he had his arms out as the officers searched him.
Nothing. Which was good. Those things could detect a needle in a haystack.
Lincoln was up next and sighed as he knew what was going to happen. He went through the scanners and held his arms out as the officer scanned him. When it beeped, everyone was on guard as he held the scanner where his femur was.
"What do you have there, sir?" The officer tried to speak in a tough sounding tone. But one of others added something.
"Jesus fucking Christ! What the hell happened to his leg?!"
The officer looked confused as Lincoln rolled his right trouser leg and revealed something that made the officer wince.
It was a metal leg, which meant he lost it some time ago.
The dead look on his face told the officer that Lincoln didn't like talking about it.
"OK…you can go." He said as the 21-year-old went to his son.
Haiku sighed as she was next.
"Let's get this over with." She deadpanned as she held her arms out as the officer took his sweet time scanning her.
"Oh damn." One said as the officers crowded around the screen while the one scanning looked with a perverted smile.
Haiku glared at him but maintained her position.
"I will not throttle him" She thought to herself.
Lincoln glared at the sight as he gripped his son's hand tightly, getting his attention.
"Dad? You ok?" Logan asked in a concerned tone
Lincoln saw his son's worried expression but showed a small smile.
"Yeah. Just…stressed about work." He said with a smile. Logan raised a brow at that. He knew for a fact that smile was fake.
He may be five, but he was smarter than most kids.
Haiku came over to them, with a look of dignified irritation on her face.
"That is something I cannot stand." She groused.
"Luckily, we have a car ride to our new home." He said with a smile.
"True." She said as the small family left the airport to their new home.
~Royal Woods Community College~
Lunch break. An hour before classes meant that young Lucy Loud could relax under her favourite spot and enjoy some gothic literature.
Well…young was the wrong word as Lucy had blossomed into a gothic beauty. Dressed in a black tank under a grey hoodie, black jeans and combat boots, the goth had garnered a following of boys that eyed her with lust.
She didn't enjoy it and right now she needed some space to think about everything.
She read up about the attack by Lost Cause in Manchester and how Melody managed to take care of it.
Lost Cause.
Those two words left a rather bitter taste in her mouth over their actions over the world. She may have an appreciation of the makings of death…but what they were doing felt like a childish cry for help.
Her family even agreed. During her tour, Luna even held a charity concert for those that had been affected by the actions of Lost Cause. #
She remembered that vividly.
Luna was all made up and prepared. Her hair done in a wicked mohawk with light purple streaks, in rockstar leather as she and her bands rocked it out in London. She even did the concert after hearing the news.
Family…
"Hard to believe it had been five years since that day…"
She knew what she was talking about. That day when Lincoln came home with a pregnancy test.
It had been about two years after Lincoln broke up with Ronnie Anne and the rest of them had given him a hard time, as they kept on shipping the two of them since they were 11.
Rita and Lynn Sr. had to smack some sense into them about supporting a dying ship when there was no passion.
Fast forward 2 years, Lincoln was sixteen when he came home, shaking with a thousand yard stare.
Their eyes all zoomed onto the pregnancy test.
That meant Lincoln had been seeing someone. And they had no idea who?
Things went crazy. Stuff was said. Actions were caused. And in the middle of the night, Lincoln disappeared, saying he had to honour this or he won't ever call himself a man.
That was the last they heard from Lincoln.
"Mob mentality strikes again." she grumbled
It was always a problem with their family and now it came and bit them in the butt. It affected Lucy a lot more because on the same day, Haiku had ghosted as well.
She asked her club and friends where she went but people all said no one had seen her since last night.
That was suspicious. Lincoln and Haiku disappearing on the same day Lincoln brought home the pregnancy test?
She shook her head. No point in thinking about that.
Soon, she decided to read a new novel she bought.
'Not the Same by H.L'. It was gothic but in the post-apocalypse/war genre sort of way.
For someone who loved vampires, this was rather interesting.
She even met the author at a book signing. She was a clear goth with the pale skin and dark coloured clothes. But she wore a mask and glasses so she couldn't find out who the author was. And for some reason, she looked…familiar.
She was silent but she could've sworn the author looked at her with familiarity. Like an old friend.
Lucy checked the time on her phone.
She sighed.
Time to get back to class.
~On the Road~
Lincoln and his family were inside his car, an orange 1968 Ford Mustang with a black stripe on the hood and tinted windows. Logan was in the back, looking at Royal Woods in awe at his parents' home town.
Lincoln kept an eye on the road as he felt his vision turn as memories came back.
Some good and some bad.
Hands on the steering wheel, he gritted his teeth as he thought about THAT.
"Stop it."
Haiku's voice snapped him back to reality.
"What?" Lincoln asked.
"I know that look. Stop having those self-doubts from your pre-teen years. Especially with what happened all those years ago."
Lincoln opened his mouth but Haiku beat him to it.
"I'm not talking about the day you got me…' She checked to make sure their son wasn't listening '...pregnant"
Lincoln was silent as he looked at his right leg. Images of him being in that hospital bed those years ago, leg in a sling with lots of tubes as he was in and out of consciousness.
He vaguely saw Haiku bursting into the room in tears, holding a 2-year-old Logan, begging not to go to the light.
"How can I? I got caught in a deadly blast that took me out. Like a punk. It took a long time to get over what had happened to me." He said with a grimace.
"That wasn't your fault. My uncle showed me that you saved those people. You are a hero. Don't think that you messed up that day as you are still here." She said as she held his hand.
Lincoln smiled as those memories passed and they shared a gentle kiss.
Soon, they arrived at the destination where the real estate agent would be showing the house.
Lincoln had to pause and blink to see the sight of who was there. He had to grin.
"Love?" Haiku asked.
"Logan, buddy? I think you are about to meet some people close to me."
~ Meanwhile ~
A 27-year-old woman with short, blonde hair and blue eyes dressed in a light blue suit and white heels, holding a binder was checking her phone looking rather irritated.
Why? Three reasons.
One. Leni saw her and joined her for some sister time and mostly she began to run her mouth off about something she didn't give a monkey's about.
Two. Bobby called and Ronnie had gotten in trouble again. Apparently, she claimed that a guy was making a pass at her and it resulted in breaking his arm, so she was in trouble.
Three. The man she was supposed to show the house to was late.
"Where the hell is he?!" She growled.
"Aw, don't worry Lori. Just be patient. And if he isn't here, you can come and visit Mom.' She said with a smile before her facial features turned to one of concern. 'She misses you."
Lori sighed as she eyed her sister, dressed in a stylish teal blouse and long white skirt and flats, a new outfit she designed.
"I know…but I have three more clients to sell houses to. I can't be late because one man decided to be a jackass and show up late."
Inside the car, Lincoln had a hand on the horn of his car and was getting ready to honk it.
"Still, that surly attitude is going to make you more stressed."
"I know but I just want that guy to come and…"
*HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!*
The loud honk cut her off as the two leapt up in shock. Lori was especially pissed when the door opened.
"OK! WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK IS YOUR DAMN-?!"
Her rant was cut off as they died in her throat at who came out. Leni's eyes widened as she covered her mouth, feeling her eyes well up.
They saw who came out. The white hair. Those blue eyes that they saw when they took care of him when he was a baby. He was older but no denying it.
"Lincoln?" Lori said in a shaky tone.
"Linky?" Leni added.
"Hey, sis." He said with a tired smirk
"Dad?"
Logan came out and looked at the two girls with curiosity.
"Oh my God…" Lori spoke.
"Tiny Linky?!" Leni squeaked.
"YEah…meet your nephew, Logan Loud."
Sorry for the wait, homeboys. But finding the second chapter of this old story was going nowhere so to quote Miles Morales: "Nah, Imma do my own thing."
I tried to emulate the original as possible but it was a long time ago so I had to embellish and add in some of my own content form what I could remember.
Next is Chapter 3 and that will take some time.
