Chapter 9: Turbo Jet:

Jackie's POV:

I was taking an artifact called the Golden Dragon to the museum. It seemed like a safe night for once. Then, as I was driving to the museum, a blue streak ran past me.

"What was that?"

It came again. It was running around my car. Then, when it finally stopped, I made it to the museum.

"Here it is," I said.

"Is this a joke," asks the Curator.

I looked and saw the Golden Dragon was gone.

. . .

The next night, I was taking the Burmese Raccoon to the museum, when that mysterious blue streak returned and ran around my car again. I arrived at the museum.

"So, where's the Raccoon?"

Just like the Dragon, the Raccoon was missing.

. . .

The next night, I was taking the Kyoto Octopus to the museum. This time, I was keeping an eye out for the blue streak.

"Keeping an eye out for that streak?"

"Yes, I don't know what's going on, but... wait, who...?" I looked and saw a man in some kind of weird armor sitting next to me. He had a big glass dome on his head.

"The name's Turbo Jet." Turbo Jet then takes the octopus and runs off.

"At least he had the decency to introduce himself this time."

. . .

I was in Section Thirteen. Jade was trying to whack so many piƱatas.

"How'd I do?" asked Jade as she was being tied up and hanging up-side-down.

"Better than last time," says Tommy.

"Do you have anything on this guy?" I asked.

"No, other than he's now seen as a hero," says Captain Black.

"What," I asked.

"There was a reward for the return of the items, and the museum got them back, and Turbo Jet ended up returning them. Word has it, he got them from the thieves."

"He's the one who stole those things in the first place," I said.

"Turbo Jet," says Dil, "I like the name."

"Whoever this man is," I said, "he is the real criminal!"

. . .

The next night, I was taking the Silver Iguana of Awramba to the museum. If I'm right, the modern-day Robin Hood will show up.

I was right. He was standing in front of me.

"Why would you steal these things only to return them?"

"I was going to sell them to a big buyer..." The Big Man. "But then I learned how much the museum was paying to get them back."

"You are no Robin Hood."

"To be fair, I never wanted to be seen as this city's hero. They should be able to handle their own problems. But hey, what's done is done. And I think you're just jealous."

"Can you fight me like a real man?"

Turbo Jet thinks about it. "Nahh." He then uses his speed to knock me into the car and then takes the Silver Iguana. "So long, Jackie."

"What's a Jackie?"

Turbo Jet then runs off.

. . .

I was just thinking, maybe I should let Turbo Jet do his thing. I mean, what's the point in trying to stop him? He's only taking the items back to the museum. Sure, he's pretending to be a hero, but that's...

"Jackie," says Uncle.

"What?"

"Do not look at TV."

The news says that I'm the one who's been stealing the items.

"That Turbo Jerk!"

"I told you not to look!"

"You need a lawyer," says Jade. "I heard about a guy that can..."

"No need," I said, "I'll just explain to them."

. . .

The Police were not buying it.

"So, Turbo Jet, the guy who's returning the items is the thief, and he's just framing you because..."

"I don't know, he thinks it's funny. He really enjoys making a fool of me."

"Well, I'm not buying it. I'm not so sure about your people..." Great, the Police Chief is a racist. "...I mean, how do I know you're just not taking them because you think it's your honor to do so?"

"That doesn't even make sense! Look, he kept attacking my car..."

"A Chinese man who can drive? Yeah, right."

"I'm guessing you also think black people steal cars."

The Chief then got a call. "Good news, you're free to go. You can thank some guy named Captain Black. But I think it'd be safer if you went back to your country. How long have you been here, anyway?"

"Since I was a kid!" I then ran out.

. . .

Back at Section Thirteen, I was walking. I accidentally bumped into the new janitor, Lewis Wyler.

"Sorry," I said.

"No prob."

"So, does anyone have any idea why Turbo Jet felt he needed to frame me?"

"I don't know," says Captain Black, "but I have a feeling the Big Man had something to do with it."

The Janitor then left.

Lewis Wyler's POV:

I went into hiding and took a phone call.

"Hey, it's me. I did the job. Man, Chan did not see that coming. So, this makes up for selling the stuff back to the museum?"

"Perhapssss," says the Big Man, "if you do one more job for me."

"What's that?"

"Eliminate Jackie Chan."

"Piece of Cake, BM."

"Do you know what that meanssss?"

"My bad."

Jackie's POV:

I was taking the Golden Squid to the museum when Turbo Jet came. I stopped the car and got out to talk to him.

"Look," I said, "I think it's time we actually talk about this..."

"Better idea." Turbo Jet then attacked me.

"What is the meaning of this?"

"The Big Man now wants me to take you out."

We fought, if you can call it that. It's hard to keep up with a man as fast as him.

"This isn't fair! Do I look like Quicksilver? Can you at least slow down?"

"Now, where's the fun in that?"

Turbo Jet kept attacking me and I had trouble keeping up. Then Jade came and threw something at me.

"Catch!"

I caught it, it was the Rabbit Talisman.

"What's that gonna do?"

"Now, things are even," I said. Using the power of the Rabbit Talisman, I was able to move as fast as Turbo Jet.

We had a speed fight that took place all around San Francisco. We fought at the bridge, Jade's new school, Java Lava Coffee Shop, that taco place Lian Nichang seems to like so much...

. . .

Nichang: Actually, Ox likes it, I think the prices are too high.

Ox: I like to dine and dash.

Nichang: He does.

. . .

We even ended up back at the museum, where we finally stopped.

"You think you can beat... wait, my helmet!"

"You mean, this Lewis?" I took his helmet during the fight, and during that, I learned that Turbo Jet was Lewis Wyler. "Why did you do it?"

"Do you think being a janitor pays that much? I need the money for my research."

"Research?"

"Where do you think I got this stuff? I'm a genius! I designed this A/R spacesuit..."

"That explains why you look like an astronaut."

"Yep. Anyway, it allows me to move at extremely high speeds and allows objects to be pulled towards and pushed away from the suit. I worked for NASA, but they thought my idea was ridiculous, so I had to steal to pay for this."

"But you know stealing is wrong, right?"

"Who cares? These people are idiots! They thought I was a real hero! How dumb..."

"Smile, Louie." Tommy was filming the whole thing.

Turbo Jet tried to get away, but I knocked him out.

. . .

Turbo Jet was taken in. Because he's an African American, the chief felt he looked like a crook. I hope he retires soon. The museum apologized for believing Turbo Jet and paid us with money to make up for it.

"Where is rest," asks Uncle, "we are not done forgiving them yet!"

Now things are back to normal. Jade's playing with Turbo Jet's suit, isn't she?

"Oh yeah!"

In the next chapter, Jackie looks for the Horse Talisman.
