Chapter 21: Talon:
Jackie's POV:
Captain Black showed us something on the Section Thirteen security footage. A woman walked through the halls. She snuck past the guards, not that that's hard; they were heavy sleepers. She managed to enter the vault.
"I suggested the new code," says Jade, "so, how did she know my birthday?"
The woman enters the vault and steals the talismans.
. . .
"Her name is Talon," says Captain Black, "and she's a well-known thief. She's never been caught and somehow, she got into Section Thirteen and found out about the Talismans."
"She might be working for the Big Man," I said.
"That's one thought," says Captain Black.
Talon's POV:
I was on the phone with my employer.
"I have the talismans," I said, "but what's so special about them?"
"Let's just say they have a large use to me."
"So, when will I get my payment?"
"When I have the talismans. Don't worry, the Kingpin always keeps his word."
We hung up.
Jackie's POV:
We checked the vault and all the talismans we have collected up to this point have been taken.
"All ten talismans," says Uncle, "now Big Man has Ultimate Power!"
"Unless we find Talon," I said.
"How hard could it be to find someone dressed like her," asks Angelica.
"Unless she chooses to blend in," says Tommy.
I then start to think. "What if we had a trap for her?"
. . .
We set up a fake museum. Using false artifacts, the kids made. The agents of Section Thirteen did everything else. Captain Black and I were disguised as guards. Uncle was hiding in a sarcophagus. Talon then enters. She snuck through and was about to go to the fake diamond Angelica made. Then I grabbed her arm.
"Funny story," I said, "this was a trap."
"I can't believe I fell for this," she said.
Talon and I then fought.
"We can't let the Big Man have the Talismans!"
"The Big Man? I'm working for the Kingpin."
"The Kingpin? That's just as bad!"
Uncle then jumps out of his sarcophagus, but he attacks me, allowing Talon to get away.
"Uncle's Bad."
Captain Black tried to stop her, but she kicks him in a vulnerable area and then leaves.
"She got away," says Captain Black.
"Yes, but we now know who her boss is," I said, "our old friend, Mr. Fisk."
. . .
Captain Black and I were on our way to Fisk Tower. I do not want to think about what could happen if the Kingpin had ten talismans.
Tohru's POV:
I had just done my grocery shopping when I saw Chan and Captain Black drive by. They were on their way to Fisk Tower. I was curious and I decided to pay a visit myself. I have a feeling this involves a certain group of magic rocks.
Talon's POV:
I was at Fisk Tower. I entered the elevator and was on my way to meet my employer. I then saw Chan and Captain Black enter. They are too persistent. I managed to close the doors and was on my way up.
Jackie's POV:
The elevator doors close. Captain Black and I then used another elevator. We went in and were on our way up.
Tohru's POV:
I saw Chan and Captain Black enter an elevator. Both are being used, and I... am not too good with elevators in the first place. So, I had to use the stairs. I hate stairs.
Jackie's POV:
The elevator finally stopped, and we entered Fisk's tower.
"Stop right there," I said.
"Mr. Chan. What brings you here?"
"You can't fool me," I said, "where is she hiding?"
"Who?"
"Talon! I know she's here somewhere. Is she hiding in this plant?"
"There's a saying that too much work can make a man act a little crazy," says Kingpin. "I think you need a rest."
"You can't fool us," says Captain Black.
"I assure you, there is no one named Talon hiding in that plant. She's under my desk!"
Talon then comes out and attacks us. We ended up fighting her. Then Tohru came crashing in.
"Boy am I popular today," says Kingpin.
Tohru then fought the Kingpin, but the Kingpin had the upper hand.
"We are both large men," says Tohru.
"Yes, but I am more skilled."
Captain Black and I fought Talon while Tohru fought the Kingpin. During the fight, Captain Black gets knocked out.
"I can't let the Kingpin have all ten talismans," I said.
"Nine," says Tohru, "I already gave the Big Man the Sheep."
"Oh right."
Talon and I started using different random items as weapons against each other, and Kingpin kept, literally, pushing Tohru around. I then finally managed to knock Talon down.
Jade's POV:
The rest of us were still at Section Thirteen.
"Anyone else bored," I asked.
"Yep," says Tommy.
"I am," says Kimi.
"I'm starting to fall asleep," says Dil.
"I feel like we're missing out on something big," says Phil.
"What's happening," asks Lil.
"I'm grateful," says Angelica.
"I like the break," says Chuckie.
"It is relaxing," says Susie.
"I'm just hungry," says Harold.
Jackie's POV:
I managed to knock out Talon, but I then saw Tohru getting zapped. I looked and saw Kingpin wearing a belt with all the talismans on it... except the Rat.
"The Rat's not on my belt because... what use am I gonna find for it?"
Now I have a magically empowered Kingpin to fight. Tohru gets up. We both looked at each other and agreed. We had to work together. The Kingpin had the speed of the Rabbit, the strength of the Ox, the healing powers of the Horse, the immortality of the Dog, the invisibility of the Snake, and others. Tohru tried to grab him, but Kingpin pushed him off. I tried to kick him, but he levitated me away. He then tries to zap us with his eye lasers. We kept dodging.
"He's too powerful," says Tohru.
"I have an idea," I said, "you distract him."
Tohru did just that. He tried to fight the Kingpin, who kept using the powers. I then snuck behind him and took the belt. The Kingpin then realizes he is powerless. I then put on the belt and used the Ox power to knock him down. I looked and saw that Tohru was missing. Where could someone his size go?
"Chan," says Kingpin, "I'm going to tell everyone about Section Thirteen and what will you do."
"Okay, then you can find a way to tell them how you were beaten by a weaker man." I then left. But I looked and saw Talon was missing too.
. . .
The Talismans were back in the vault at Section Thirteen. I was thinking. Kingpin was a challenge with eight talismans. Imagine what the Big Man could do with all twelve.
In the next chapter, an intergalactic gang called 'The Association' manipulates Cosmosis.
