Chaos Theory I - Higashiyama

5/10/2025 Tsujikura Clan Temple, Kyoto, Japan Midnight - Clear Sky

"So… you failed…" The voice of Yutaka was seen in his luxurious traditional room. The same room he was in after he killed a magus. But he was disappointed in his men involving something. And he is not pleased. One of the grunts started to kneel down.

"W-We did… That Servant wielding a katana… He decimated our men in one fell swoop. We tried to recruit this Rogue Servant as you asked but… I deeply apologize for our failures!" The grunt kneeled down again in hopes he'll be forgiven. But here in this clan. There is no forgiveness.

"Hmph. If this Rogue Saber isn't willing to serve under me. Then I might as well have him dead no matter where he hides. But as for you… apologizing isn't enough. In this world, you either make it or break it. Let me teach you a lesson when it comes to owning up like a man." Yutaka said as he would look at his Servant Berserker where he would stand there, waiting… "Do it."

"About damn time…!" Berserker said as he would slowly approach the grunt as he would look at his menacing eyes. Then, he would grab his left arm and proceed to break him… in the most gruesome way possible.

[CRUUUUUNCH! SNAP! PSSSH!]

The sound of bones crunching from the tight, heavy pressure which was being pushed downwards in order to reverse the locked joint. But just as Berserker did so. He snapped his arm brutally as his flesh rips open violently as blood spews out as he would lose an arm in the process. But that reaction caused the grunt to let out a blood-curdling scream that was extremely agonizing.

"AAGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK! FUCK! FUCK FUCK! FUCK! FUCK! FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK! AAUUUUUUUUUUUUUGH!" The grunt squirmed, screamed, and cursed as loud as possible as Berserker simply laughed to see him scream.

"Hahahaha! This shit's hilarious, Master! Can I kill him already? I think he's still screaming…" Berserker asked his Master as he would shake his head.

"No. I want to hear him suffer. His screams. His pain. All of it." Yutaka said as he would continue to see the grunt continue to scream as usual to the point where he would love his voice from all of that yelling as blood continues to spill out. However… after his scream died down… he was still alive as well. "What's that? Is this the limit you can muster? Pathetic. Men like you always eat shit on the sidewalk, only for you to give up."

"B-Boss… L-Look, we'll follow your orders, okay!? Please! We don't wanna end like Okaza! Your Servant tore off his arm!" The other grunt said in fear.

"And what about it? Let me make it more convincing of what happens next. Berserker." Yutaka said as he would comply. The Servant grabs the grunt Okaza's head, slams it onto the floor and proceeds to lift his foot. And then…

[STOMP! SPLAT!]

Berserker's foot planted directly onto his head as his skull filled with blood and guts splattered everywhere as he is without a head. This instilled fear towards his men.

"I don't wanna end up like him, do you?" Yutaka said to them as they all shook their heads. "Good. Half of you guys keep searching for Rogue Saber and kill him. While the rest, I have a new plan for you all… The group of Chinese mafia have stepped onto our soil in this Ward. I want you boys out there and kill them on the spot. Day or night. It doesn't matter. Make sure you don't attract unwanted attention."

"Yes, sir!" The grunts complied as they would leave his room. Now, it was just him and Berserker.

"Hmph… A waste of time… Berserker, dispose of this rotten body and prepare me tea… I'm famished…" Yutaka said to his Servant.

"…I'm on it." Berserker said as he would carry a dead body and try to dispose of it as he would leave the room.

"How long will this war last…" Yutaka said to himself as he pondered. "Yet… Ruler is still out there… So I wonder, how will you make your move…"

And so, he was all alone, pondering. Preparing his next plans for the next night. As long he remains here and survives, that is.

5/11/2025 Hieda Residence, Kyoto, Japan Morning - Clear Sky

It was morning here in the humble abode of the Hieda Residence here in the fine city of Kyoto. Caster had seemingly walked in as she now wore her casual clothing in some regards. A nice turtleneck sweater and silk pants as she still has her glasses on. The moment she stepped inside his room Yusei was fast asleep despite it's morning… She would try to talk to him.

"Yusei? Are you awake?" Caster said to him. But all she can hear is him constantly snoring with every sleep he can get. "Oh well, you leave me with no other choice…"

Caster begins to materialize her staff as the end of the staff taps the floor in his room. Causing a ball of water that is the size of a baseball floated above him. Then, she uses her finger gesture to point it down…

[SPLASH!]

That caused Yusei to instantly wake up.

"H-HOLY SHIT!" Yusei yelled the moment he jumped off the bed and fell to the ground. "O-Ow… Caster… Why did you have to do that!? You made the bed wet… And I'm wet, too…"

"Well, I tried to wake you up but I simply have no patience whatsoever when it comes to you sleeping all day. Now in other words… Good morning, Yusei. I hope you had a good rest." Caster said to him kindly as her Master would yawn and stretched his arms until he was finished.

"Uh huh… Good morning, Caster… And please don't do that again next time?" Yusei told her as her staff disappeared.

"I'll try to hold back… But I might do it again if you keep this up with your sleeping schedule." Caster said as he got up as his hair was still wet.

"Whatever you say, mom…" Yusei sarcastically replied. "Go downstairs, I'll head to the bathroom and do my routine."

"Of course. I'll have to thank you since your home has a small library with tons of books to read. Most of them were recorded by your sister, after all." Caster said as he opened the door and turned back at her.

"You gotta thank Akyuu-san. Not me. And some of the books are recordings of our family history… and probably some other books that have details of the Clock Tower and stuff." Yusei replied as he would leave his room as Caster left second and went downstairs. But a few minutes have passed with Yusei being in the bathroom just to brush his teeth, rinse his mouth with water, a quick piss, and washing hands. He would finish it up by drying his hands on a bath towel as he decided to leave the bathroom. But, he nearly forgot as he quickly went back in and flushed the toilet. Now, he can go downstairs.

First Person POV

As soon as I headed downstairs… The morning is the same as usual. Akyuu and Shizuru were there as the two would be working together in the kitchen this time. However, Caster was there as she kneeled on the floor, waiting for me.

"About time. What took you so long?" Caster said to me as I yawned a bit.

"Nothing special." I continued to look at the two. "Morning, Akyuu and Shizuru-san."

"Good morning to you as well. Unfortunately… we're nearly out of food, so Akyuu has suggested that the two of us will go to the local farmer's market in the old town area within Kyoto. Higashiyama to be exact." Shizuru explained the whole problem as I approached the fridge to check… Damn, she's right. We're nearly out. No milk, either. As soon as I closed it and kneeled next to the table where Caster is at… my Servant piqued her interest.

"Higashiyama… I've never heard of it. Yusei, what is this place that your maid has mentioned?" Caster asked me as if she was clueless. But I wanted to tell her something.

"Didn't the Grail give you all of the information about our world's history and technology?" I asked her as she shook her head. This made her frown a bit.

"Sadly, no." Caster replied.

"What do you mean 'no'?" I asked her in confusion.

"Last night, you summoned me successfully the moment I saved you from Lancer. Now her true name is the Queen of Land of the Dead. And the moment I was summoned, The Grail has not provided me with information of this world and its history. In other words, it was an improper summon." Caster explained the reasons for this truth. I wanted to doubt but I couldn't. She's not lying. So, I sighed upon understanding her reasons.

"Alright, I believe you." I continued. "Higashiyama is a Ward to be exact. That place there is known for its feudal-era look from the old days of Japan like… the Edo period. The place itself has narrow lanes filled with pottery stores, tea houses, restaurants for multi-course kaiseki meals, and more. There's also Shinto sites such as temples and shrines."

"And the most notable one is the Kiyomizudera Temple, located up on the mountains where you can have the best view in Kyoto." Shizuru added in.

"You don't need to do that but thanks." I said to the maid as I looked back at her. "Now then, I've given you a brief information about Higashiyama. Since Shizuru and Akyuu are going there to buy something from the farmer's market area. How about I show you around the most famous places that people take pictures of. They're really nice in photos. But much better if you go there yourself."

"My brother's not wrong, Caster." Akyuu continued as she finished helping the maid. "How about we all go together and split in two?"

"Good idea, Akyuu. We can do that. Shizuru-san? Are you done? We're going now." I said to the maid as we both stood up since I've made my mind to go there now.

"Must you always rush? But I do have to agree. We shall set off very soon. And Yusei-sama, make sure you look after Caster-sama. She is your ally, of course." Shizuru informed me as I groaned a little.

"Noted." I said with slight dismay.

"Oh? We're going now?" Caster asked me.

"Yeah. We're going. Don't worry, Shizuru-san gave you the clothes to wear to blend in with the public. So you're good." I reassured her about it with a thumbs up.

"Well, let's not waste time, brother. We just need to get the list we need and return home. But if Caster needs more time to explore. That, too, is also fine. Just make sure you don't stay up late at night." Akyuu said as I scratched the back of my head with a sweatdrop.

"And you're reminding me…" I said with a chuckle. Though, Caster seemed happy with us as if we're just a happy bunch. So, we did not waste time as we headed our way there.

Higashiyama, Kyoto, Japan Daytime - Clear Sky

And so, here we are. Higashiyama's old town itself. It was bustling with people here as usual. And there are indeed lots of tourists here trying to explore this place and take pictures of it. The four of us were there the moment Akyuu had decided as she pointed the other way.

"The farmer's market is that way. Brother, you're free to explore whenever you please as long as Caster can learn a thing or two about places in our country." Akyuu said to me as I nodded without saying.

"Now then, Akyuu-sama. Let us be off." Shizuru said as she looked at me with a bow. "Make sure you return home safely once you have the time, Yusei-sama."

"I will. Don't worry." I said to them to send off as they would go the other way as intended. And so this leaves the two of us. Caster was awestruck with these tons of people going about their lives within their leisure. "Well, what do you think?"

"It's amazing…" Caster continued. "These buildings are new to me. Are they always like this?"

"Err… somewhat. We live in traditional times. But there's more to this ward here in Higashiyama. How about we start walking around some places and hopefully buy some food while we're at it. How's that sound?" I said to her with this idea as she simply nodded with a kindest smile.

"Yes, I'd love to. So you best escort me, Yusei. Otherwise, I might get lost." Caster said as we were ready.

"Don't worry. Just stick by me and we'll be alright." And so, we would begin our exploration around Higashiyama.

As time went on, we explored most of the places such as the temple where Caster would see the height of this building and even the market area where it was filled with stores to visit such as this tea house over there. My father loved going there with my mother. He told me that this was his favorite. But this building in particular is closed at the moment. And so we were at the most notable location that you see on photos many times. The Sannenzaka Stairs, many stores were opened here and there while some were closed. I can imagine that people do live in the old parts of Higashiyama.

"So, Caster. Are you enjoying it so far? We've pretty much visited most parts except here. The one from the photos they took on the internet. I was hoping you liked it." I asked her as she nodded.

"Certainly." Caster continued. "People come and go everyday as if everything is just normal here."

"It is normal. These places get more tourists from all over the world nowadays. There's even rampant visitors of foreigners living in Japan as of late which has been interesting to say the least. Hmm… I got an idea. There's this tea house just down the stairs, it's filled with people but not much. You wanna go there- Huh? Caster?" I noticed her as she would look at one particular stone within those heights of the stairs.

"Yusei. Look at this store." Caster said to me as I followed her next to the door entrance. But I looked up the sign as it was entirely written in Japanese as usual while it had english text on it. That's weird, this store must be new and looks completely traditional.

"Fulgurant Mist… What a strange name for a store, don't you think?" Caster said to me as I saw of what's inside the store… Books, books, and books… It's just books here. Is this supposed to be a library or a bookstore? "Yusei. I suggest that we go inside and find out?"

"You sure? It may not be wise just to barge in and- H-Hey! Caster! Wait up!" I said to her the moment she went inside the store and followed her.

The moment we entered the old building. The whole place here is filled to the brim with books all over. Ranging from tales, history, and even stories. Caster wanted to browse around and see what's going on. Of course, I did reach her as I tried to talk to her.

"Caster… you gotta let me know if you wanna enter or not." I said to her with a concerned look on my face.

"Apologies. I just couldn't help it with all these books sorted here. Hmm? What's this? The Tale of Genji…?" Caster said as she pulled out the book as I would look at it from the hand she was carrying.

"Oh? That? I heard it's some folklore tale. Nothing too special about it. Just brings up the history of these certain people." I told her about this particular book but…

"It appears we have ourselves an esteemed guest. A customer, perhaps. Yet, I can feel this magic presence coming from you. You must be a Servant, aren't you?" The voice of a soft, kind woman spoke as we noticed the moment we approached where she was seen kneeling on the table-like support at the clerk desk where she was seen using her inked paintbrush where she was writing on an empty scroll paper. Butcher appearance matters. She was seen wearing this twelve-layer kimono as she had long, lustrous black hair, and purple eyes. Her face seemed sincere and calm. This caught our attention.

"So you knew?" I continued. "You knew Caster is a Servant but you expect us to arrive here? I'm sorry, who are you?"

"Ahh. It seems I've neglected to introduce myself. Apologies." The mysterious woman continued. "I am Caster. However, my True Name is Murasaki Shibiku. Though, you call your Servant named Caster. This is rather strange indeed."

"Impossible." Caster added. "There can't be two Casters summoned at the same time."

"I speak of the truth. In your eyes, you would call us Rogue Servants. Whom we were summoned by the Holy Grail by complete accident. In order to differentiate ourselves from your main Servant class… I go by the name of Rogue Caster. Thus, It's an honor to meet you. Caster and the Master." Rogue Caster would introduce herself to us as I was pretty much lost for words. Why can there be seven additional Servants summoned into this war? Did something happen to the grail itself?

"Rogue Caster, right?" I asked. "Are you participating as well?"

"Goodness no." Rogue Caster continued. "There are some other Rogue Servants that have no involvement nor want to involve themselves in the War. I myself, prefer to avoid it and live out the life until the war ends. Also, you needn't call me Rogue Caster. Just call me Murasaki and we'll be fine. However, I believe I don't know your name, Master of Caster."

"Yusei… Yusei Hieda." I said my name to her.

"Hmmm… Well then, I humbly welcome you to the Fulgurant Mist. I barely get any visitors aside from you two which is the first." Murasaki welcomed us a bit late but I didn't mind it.

"Thanks. It's strange for my Servant to find you. But I get the feeling that Servants do attract other Servants. Even in the night, there's bound to be fighting as a result. But you seem to avoid all of that. Have you encountered any Servants lately?" I asked her as she simply shook her head.

"Not really." Murasaki continued. "I put up a Bounded Field every night to prevent anyone from finding me. If my barrier is gone somehow, I'd be dead…"

"Ahh. I can see why. Though, I get the feeling your name would be familiar in history. You're a novelist from the Heian period. The one who wrote The Tale of Genji. So it has to be you." I said to her as she would admit it.

"Of course I have. This book means everything to me the moment I wrote this very tale. With all of these people I have met such as Raikou or even Kintoki." Murasaki said as she completely forgot. "Oh! Caster. This book you're carrying contains one of my tales? You can have it free of charge."

"Really now? Then I will give you my thanks, Murasaki. I will read your tales for sure." Caster said with a kind smile as the Rogue Servant would nod.

"Of course. But remember, the next time you want to purchase these books in my store. It'll cost you." Murasaki informed me as I would step in and speak.

"Noted. I'll handle the payment next time should we come back. And stay safe, Murasaki. You don't want the other Servants finding you when the sun falls." I said to her as I looked back at my Servant. "Caster. Let's go. You can read later."

So, we both left the bookstore and headed the stairs down to continue walking amongst the crowd going about their day. As we kept walking… Caster was holding the book close to her chest. And this made me forget… What's my Servant's True Name? Does she have a wish? However, these are the questions that I have to ask her directly.

"Hey, Caster." I asked. "I know we've just met and gotten along pretty fast as friends. But as friends… you never told me about yourself."

"Hmm? I haven't?" Caster said to me in some slightest confusion as I nodded.

"Yeah. You never told me your name. Yet, I have to keep calling you Caster, do I?" I said to her as she would agree.

"Of course. I can't have anyone all around us when it comes to me revealing my True Name. We can head back home to continue this discussion but… Perhaps you have a wish if you survive?" Caster mentioned the whole wish thing.

That's right… If we're the only one standing. We'll be the winners of the war. And on top of all that, we'll receive our wish. And it could be anything that the Grail can provide. However, I would start to fall silent the look down a little as a way to ponder about this… A wish… Do I even have a wish to begin with?

"By the looks on your face, I assume you have one already?" Caster said to me as my mind snapped back to reality the moment I looked at her.

"Huh? Well, technically I don't have one." I continued. "I've been having thoughts… Me and Akyuu. We lost our parents days ago when the Tohoku Incident struck while they were on vacation. So… perhaps…"

"So you wish to revive your deceased parents?" Caster asked as I immediately shook my head.

"N-No. That's not about it. If I did, it'd be disrespectful. Our parents loved us and taught us well. They expected us to be the next generation of the Hieda Family. And one day, be part of the Clock Tower for something greater. I hope you understand that." I told her of our reasons. I mustn't let the Hieda family fall into nothingness. With the Holy Grail War going on. I just need to survive and hopefully continue down on that path of becoming a magus.

"I see. So that's your reason?" Caster said as she pondered it quickly but looked at me in the eyes as we stopped, hanging around at the closed building to cover ourselves from the sunlight. "I can respect these ambitions you're carrying. You strive to become the magus in the world of magecraft. Yet, you don't have any particular wish? You're truly a strange one, Yusei."

"That, I am." I replied as we continued to relax in the middle of a narrow stone path filled with old buildings as people doing the things as usual. "So… what now? We could probably leave Higashiyama and prepare for the next night. Or do you still want to keep exploring?"

"That's up to you, actually." Caster said as she would be the type of person who let me decide. So… I decided.

"Alright. The sun's out and the heat is absolutely making me exhausted. Let's head home for today. I hope you've enjoyed your time there as much as I did… Aside from meeting one of the Rogue Servants there owning a bookstore. Think you're gonna read it?" I said to her as she was still holding the book.

"Of course. This would kill some time the more I read this book before the sun falls." Caster suggested as I would take a deep sigh.

"Makes sense… time to leave-" And just as I was about to have me and my Servant leave…

"Oh? And what are you doing out in the middle of the day?" The voice of a young woman spoke as we noticed to our right… The blonde hair with a large braid… That's definitely Ruler. And she's wearing her kimono this time to blend in with the public. And there's this other girl following her. I believe that's Asano?

"Ruler?" I asked her why she's here.

"Please, call me Jeanne. It's better that way." Ruler or rather… Jeanne said as she wanted to be called by her true name instead.

"Right… Jeanne. Why are you here along with that girl? What's her name again? Asano?" I said to her as Asano would shyfully speak up to us.

"I-I'm Asano Kaname… It's a pleasure to meet you… I'm… the Master of Ruler." Asano introduced herself to us as I nodded.

"That's a rare sight coming from you." I said with my own slight opinions as Jeanne would speak up.

"Back to the topic… I was recommended by my Master here that I should blend in with the people and explore Higashiyama. So far, I'm enjoying it here." Jeanne said as she complimented this place.

"Glad you liked it." I said to her knowing that she already has knowledge of the modern world here and such.

"Ahh, that reminds me. Have you managed to register yourself last night? The one that I talked to you about the church?" Jeanne completely mentions the church as my mind begins to remind me of what happened… the Overseer was killed on the floor… That's right… I need to tell her that something is wrong.

"About that… Before I speak further. Do you mind if we can talk somewhere where we won't attract any people around here?" I asked her about it as she was slightly surprised and blinked her eyes twice.

"Oh? Very well, I will allow it. Let us go somewhere quieter. Master, let's go." Jeanne said to her Master as she would nod without saying anything but a light grunt.

[FIVE MINUTES LATER…]

As minutes passed. We went to a much quieter area within Higashiyama. Further away from the temples themselves. And so, I was ready to tell her the truth.

"Jeanne, you're not gonna like this." I continued as I kept myself in a serious expression. "The Overseer was killed last night the moment we went inside. That's… all we saw."

This caught Jeanne off-guard the moment her eyes widened in shock.

"Y-You can't be serious… Is this true?" Jeanne asked us as my Servant stepped in.

"He speaks the truth. I've seen it myself as well." Caster added as Jeanne would place her hand over her temple in order to mend her mind.

"Unbelievable… Someone would have gone too far to kill the Overseer…" Jeanne continued as she lowered down her hand as she clenched her hand. "So he's dead… It seems I'll have to take up the mantle as the new Overseer now."

"I see… Then what if you are able to find the Overseer's killer. The priest I mean." I asked her.

"Have the killer's life cease to exist. Of course, if you are the ones to find the killer. Then his life would be put to ease." Jeanne said as she would take a deep breath.

"J-Jeanne? Are you okay? You seemed angry…" Asano asked her as the Ruler-class Servant would turn on her Master with her calm smile.

"Don't worry, Master. I'm alright. I assure you that the priest's death will not be in vain. As for you two…" Jeanne turned around to look at us. "Thank you for telling me all of this. Without your information, I wouldn't have known of it."

"Don't sweat it. I just wanted to let you know." I reassured her. Jeanne then proceeded with a nod.

"Again, thank you. For now, you have a lot of time to spare until the night begins. We will see each other again. And one more piece of note from me." Jeanne continued as they were ready to leave. "As the new Overseer and Ruler of this Grail War. I welcome you as the seventh participant. I look forward to your victory should you survive."

"Thanks… I guess…" I said to her as I scratched the back of my head while looking away.

"G-Good luck…" Asano said to us as she looked back at her Servant. "Are we leaving now?"

"We are. You need rest, Master. I can't have you let the sun exhaust you out. Let us make haste." Jeanne said as the two would begin to leave. And now that leaves the two of us.

"Well now, things have really shifted drastically. She's the new Overseer now so we better keep our eyes open should we encounter her next time, Yusei." Caster informed me about her presence when it comes to things like this. Of course we'll see her next time… or not.

"I know. For now, let's head home. Promise me that you'll tell me your name before you get to read the book." I said to her as she would seemingly agree.

"Very well. Perhaps once I'm done with this book, that is." Caster said as we both decided to make our leave here and try to head back home. Akyuu and Shizuru might have finished what they're doing so we might be coming back a bit late. Though, perhaps I should skip a night for once and try to figure it out from here. Yeah… that might be my go to plan. A well rested sleep is always important for both the body and soul.

Kitano Residence, Apartments, Kyoto, Japan Daytime - Clear Sky

Third Person POV

Meanwhile within the apartment building where Tatsumi was disappointed in his own Servant after she went outside on her own last night. Of course, this was right after the summoning that happened in his room.

"Hey uhh… Lancer? We need to talk…" Tatsumi said to his Servant where he was seen sitting on the floor with his legs crossed as Lancer was seen kneeling on the floor as they would have a face-to-face conversation. Yet, Lancer would be willing to listen to him. Even though her true name is revealed to be Scathatch… the Queen of the Land of Shadows.

"Whatever it might be, fledgling. Speak." Lancer said to her Master. For some reason… She doesn't seem to call Tatsumi her Master but instead calls him something different.

"I want to remember what happened last night so… You somehow appeared in my room out of things. I passed out and you just left outside… to pick a fight… Why?" Tatsumi asked her.

"It's simple. We're Servants. Heroic Spirits summoned by the Grail to choose our Masters. And I can't believe that you summoned me. A total fledgling with no knowledge of the Holy Grail or magecraft. Therefore, I shall fight on my own for your safety. You don't seem to care about it, no?" Lancer asked her Master with her arms crossed in order to understand him but… he shook his head.

"No. Not at all. I don't know anything about magecraft, magic, or whatever that is. But when you mentioned this Holy Grail War last night the moment you returned. Explained to me these seven classes along with that Ruler. And on top of all that, we're supposed to send our Servants to kill each other? All that for that golden cup? This seems wrong!" Tatsumi then slammed his table with visible anger. Knowing that war in general is never good. Tons of bloodshed all around. Even during the time of World War II.

"Wrong? Fledgling, you must be sorely mistaken. The Grail is capable of granting any wish you desire. Those who survive throughout the end are rewarded with a wish." Lancer explained the purpose of the Grail's capability as a wish-granting object. A golden chalice itself that would shine some brilliance.

But in Tatsumi's mind… a wish coming from a grail came something out of a fantasy. But if the grail is truly real… then he would speak to her.

"Do you have a wish, Lancer?" Tatsumi said to her.

"I don't have any particular wish. I'm only summoned to fight on your behest in order to secure ourselves a victory. But what of you?" Lancer asked.

"I don't need it." Tatsumi replied.

"Pardon?" Lancer was confused by what he just said.

"I just said. I don't need this wish. I don't care about this grail if it grants wishes or not. But all I know for sure is that war is never good. People die in wars. They suffer losses here and there. I'm tired of it." Tatsumi said as he would look at his command seal as he clenched his fist and looked back at his Servant. "So, I've decided… I'm going to end this stupid war. Whether you like it or not. I need your help."

"Are you mad!? End the war? You mean to destroy the Grail!?" Lancer quickly stood up as she was surprised but a bit angry at him for his intentions. Tatsumi would stand up, too.

"I'm not crazy! But I've made up my mind and you can't change me, Lancer. I will end this Holy Grail War you call. I don't want to see anyone dying in front of my eyes. And better yet, I refuse to see Kyoto turn into a sea of flames if everything ends in a disaster. So, do I make myself clear?" Tatsumi said to her as she was baffled by his statement. But alas… She is contracted to him.

"Very well… if this is what you want. Then I shall follow you until the very end…" Lancer said knowing that she would try to make him happy.

"Good! I'm glad that we can get this settled. For now… I really need to go back to this paper. I need to get it finished. So uhh… I might be busy for the longest while. But from now on, Lancer. Don't go outside anymore unless you ask me permission. Got it?" Tatsumi said as she would take a sigh.

"Very well… I'll ask you when I need you. But this paper you're doing? What is this?" Lancer asked as her eyes darted to the paper where Tatsumi was seen writing.

"This? It's an application for University. I intend to study there in Kyoto as my parents told me. They're overseas in America right now so they're expecting me to get it done. And once I go through the entrance exam, I'll be fully accepted. And the best part is, I'll have my own dorm there within the campus. So no more paying rent to that annoying old landlord! And hello to my new life!" Tatsumi seemed ecstatic of his plans once he got it all sorted out.

But Lancer would be curious about him. He hates wars. Even if it's called the Holy Grail War. Doesn't like people dying. And assumed that he has never killed anyone… nor refuses to kill anyone. Yet, in her mind, she doesn't like his plans but has no choice but to follow. In the end, this was his choice. A foolish ambition of Tatsumi as if he wants to play as a Hero.

"I see. If this landlord is giving you trouble. Perhaps I shall deal with it swiftly." Lancer told him of the idea but he quickly stopped her.

"N-No! Don't kill the landlord! I can't have you kill anyone else!" Tatsumi interjected.

"Even if it's Servants or Masters?" Lancer asked him.

"Even if it's Servants or Masters!" Tatsumi added.

"Tch… you're truly a pacifist. A fool like you wouldn't even understand. But very well… Do what you want… But remember, never use your Command Seals. If you're being targeted. I'll come and protect you…" Lancer warned him about the Command Seals, hoping he wouldn't waste one for no reason. But just as that, Lancer disappeared into her spirit form in order to conserve her mana.

And now, he was alone. And he himself would get busy with the application to get things done. Hopefully, end the war if possible.

Kamigyo Ward, Kyoto, Japan Midnight - Clear Sky

Meanwhile, as time passes into the night. The sounds of clashing and minor destruction were made where Archer was seen hopping from buildings to buildings as he drew out his arrows as he fired at his enemy Assassin with few shots. But all three were deflected away. However, he landed on the rooftop as his opponent arrived there as they came to a standoff.

"I gotta say, Assassin. You're pretty quick in your step. Not that I'm complaining or anything. Ahahaha!" Archer somewhat praised his enemy for her enduring chase. She knew how to deal with arrows that Archer sent. Though, Assassin wasn't buying it.

"Enough. I've received orders from Masters that I should hunt any Servants present tonight. You shall be my first opponent…" Assassin then pointed her blade at him. "And your last."

"I'm not a fan of fighting from close quarters, though. But if this is the fight you want. This is the fight you'll get. As long as you're within my sight. You'll never escape from my arrows." Archer said with some boast of confidence but…

"Archer. Don't get cocky. She may be an Assassin-class Servant. But I can't afford to die the moment you're slain. Try to keep distance from her and continue firing your arrows. I'll try to help you take down the Assassin if I can." The voice of Gabri spoke within his mind.

"As much as you want to help. Keep watching. I'll deal with her once I figure something out." Archer said to his Master, preventing her from revealing her position where Gabri would be seen watching from the eyes of the sniper scope from afar.

"Talking to your Master? Perhaps you plan to retreat like a coward?" Assassin said to taunt him as he shook his head.

"Nope. Never had a second thought to retreat. But I'm going to take you down as my Master told me. You're just in my way, to be honest." Archer then proceeds to grab out three arrows at once and pulls the bows as it begins to glow blue as prana gathers around himself. "So let's make this fun once in a while!"

[PEW! FWOOSH! FWOOSH! FWOOSH!]

The arrows turned into blue streaks of energy as it began to multiply, turning into raining arrows. It was so powerful, it collided onto the rooftop of an office building, blowing some parts of the roof open as Assassin proceeded to dodge out of harm's way. However, one arrow was near her as she didn't have time to react.

[BOOM!]

The arrow's explosion damaged her but not directly as she was caught within the blast, sending her back as she fell off from the building. The sounds of the roof and small debris crumbled as it was silent again.

"Did you get her?" Gabri asked her Servant as he scratched the back of his head.

"Maybe? Maybe not? Lemme go check." Archer said as he walked near the edge of the building and looked down. She was suddenly gone. "Huh? Maybe she is dead? Something's not right-"

"You're wide open…!" Assassin had appeared out of nowhere but was right behind him. She was in the air as she was ready to use her blade to slice him dead. Archer tried to turn around the moment he saw her surprise attack. He was not prepared.

[BANG! FWOOSH! TWANG!]

The sound of a powerful bullet fired directly towards Assassin's head but she uses her blade as it turns into a whip, swinging around her whip swords as it sliced the bullet into pieces as she would fall back a bit the moment her whips retracts itself into a blade. Gabri had to take action the moment she fired her L96A1 towards the enemy Servant. This caused her position to be revealed as Assassin looked to the direction of where she fired at her. But Archer was saved in the nick of time.

"Archer! I told you to focus! There's no time to assume around and think. The enemy is right there!" Gabri reminded him as he would laugh a bit.

"Ahaha! Apologies, Master. I kinda got carried away." Archer continued as he looked at his opponent. "I'm not going to let you reach my Master. If you wanna reach her… You gotta get through me."

"Hmph. Then so be it. This place will be your deathbed." Assassin said coldly as she prepared herself again as Archer would draw out his bow as he pulled it back further, causing the energy of the shot to become red. He was dead serious about landing a kill on his opponent. But the moment where the two would continue their fight…

"Found ya, you little shits!" The voice of a man shouted as he was falling down from the sky with his spear in hand.

"A Berserker!?" Assassin called out his name the moment the spear struck the roof, causing the two to jump off the building to avoid the sudden impact.

[KRA-KOOM!]

The roof was destroyed as glass shattered from the impact. Both Servants landed on the streets the moment the door breaks open from the inside… The Servant was indeed a Berserker, who had heard the sound of the battle that was happening.

"So, is this where you two were fighting?" Berserker said to the two with his usual tone. Archer and Assassin would maintain their serious composure as they have to contend with the third enemy in their way. However, their responses fall silent… "AHAHAHAHA! Good! Because I'm bored as hell! So entertain me until I kill the shit out of you!"

"Well now. Seems this is my time to run! Hey, Assassin. As much as I want to continue this fight. I'll be leaving things to you! Later!" Archer said as he would do the finger gesture, telling her a farewell and good luck as he jumped high to leap across buildings, retreating back to his Master as he disappeared out of thin air.

"We haven't- Damn it…" Assassin cursed after seeing Archer retreating. Now it leaves her and Berserker.

"Seriously? He just chickened out? That's a damn shame. But that doesn't matter… As long as you're my enemy… I'll make sure that I'll cut your body in two!" Berserker said as he prepared himself for a fight. "So what are you gonna do? Stab me with that shitty sword of yours?"

"You're about to find out…" Assassin the proceeded to hop in the air as she proceeded to propel herself like a projectile as her foot plants onto Berserker's chest as he was dragged back by such powerful force. He stabbed his spear to halt its drag as it stopped. He then looks at her as his expression becomes serious.

"I'll kill you for that…" Berserker threatened as he readied himself to go hog wild against his enemy as the sounds of clashes of their steel rang throughout the battle.

Far from the city at the mountain top where Gabri would stand up from proning after seeing Berserker being here as it would pose a problem to her.

"Truly an Archer like you would be afraid of a Berserker." Gabri said as she rested her sniper rifle upon her shoulder. "However…"

Gabri quickly grabs her Mateba Unica 6 from her side holster as she pointed at the direction where someone would be here.

"I knew you were watching me. You're the Master of Assassin, are you not?" Gabri said with her serious expression where the Master of Assassin who is revealed to be Tang who was seen standing there as he would rest near the tree.

"Of course I am. But I waste no time if you're so keen on killing me. Your Servant is a coward and deserves no respect from me." Tang said as he would speak English to try to have a conversation. But it was possible a duel between Masters. "Tell me this. Why take part in this Holy Grail War? What do you attend to do with the Grail should you win?"

"I have no intention of revealing my plans to a Master who is ready to kill me." Gabri continued. "Unfortunately. You're outmatched. I have a gun and you have nothing. You move, you get shot. I'm not giving you a choice here, Master of Assassin. My bullet shall be your judgment."

"Heh… you think you can threaten me with firearms? You humor me, girl. But you don't know who you're dealing with. If you're so sure on killing me…" Tang then proceeded to stop leaning on a tree and stood there with a cocky expression on his face. He lifted his hand and proceeded to taunt her. "Then by all means, try it and see what happens."

"Your funeral." Gabri replied as her index finger quickly pulled the trigger from her revolver.

[BANG! TWANG!]

The moment the bullet was fired from the sidearm as the speed of the bullet would definitely reach him. This underestimated her the moment Tang began to enhance his arms and legs as magic circuits began to expand. His right hand simply deflects the bullet away while he uses his fist to get rid of the bullet.

"Reinforcement? You mages never cease to amaze me…" Gabri said in slight annoyance but regained her composure as she would fire all five remaining bullets in the chamber. Tang would ready his stance as he blocked all of it. This caused him to jolt towards her at somewhat inhuman speed as he would be within her range. His right hand turns from a fist to a flat position as if he would use it as a blade.

[SWOOSH!]

Gabri then bent her body back as she would holster her sniper on her back as her hands planted on the ground and proceeded to avoid the incoming attack. Then, she lifted her legs up to perform an upward kick as Tang would react quickly to nearly dodge it in the process. The two would take a step back to maintain her distance.

"You fight like an assassin. What are you…?" Gabri asked her as she quickly reloaded her revolver and aimed at him again.

"I get that alot. My skills and technique have killed tons of people during my work as an agent for a government I used to work for. But that was long ago. No matter what bullets or blades they send at me. All will be deflected by my hand." Tang said as he readied himself once more. "You are my prey. And I will not stop until my feast is satisfied."

"I'll have to stop you right there…!" Archer spoke as he was in the air, falling. He proceeded to fire rapid volleys of arrows directly at Tang as he would quickly deflect them away. The Servant would land next to his Master as he had another arrow ready as he drew back from his red bow. "Sorry that I'm late, Master."

"No, you're right on time." Gabri said as she looked back at Tang the moment she holstered her revolver. "As much as I want to eliminate you from the Grail War. It appears I have other plans to work with. So why not call it a draw, alright?"

"So you intend to retreat? As expected, the girl is indeed a coward." Tang said as he would kill her anyways. "But you won't leave here alive!"

"Say what you will. But this will be the last time we meet. Until then…" Gabri grabs something from her pouch as she pulls a pin and drops it on the floor… It was a flashbang. "Pożegnanie.~"

[BANG! SCREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!]

The sound of a bang came from the flash grenade as it stunned Tang the moment he tried to move in for a quick and secure kill. But it failed, the sound of loud ringing in his ears disoriented him completely. But as it subsided, he found out that Gabri and Archer were already gone.

"Damn it…" Tang cursed to himself. He took a deep breath as he, too, would also make a decision. "Assassin, change of plans."

"What is it, Master? I'm in the middle of fighting Berserker." Assassin asked him in his mind.

"We're retreating, shake him off and try to lose him if possible. We need to reassess our plans." Tang commanded his Servant as he would look at the city, assuming the battle was happening over there.

"Understood…" Assassin complied with her Master's order.

Back in the city… Assassin then took a step back away from Berserker. She would be indeed retreating in order to get away from him.

"Hey… What's a big deal? Trying to get away from me?" Berserker asked as he planted his spear on the ground to find out about her. However, she would speak.

"My Master has told me to withdraw. Therefore, our battle will have to be put on hold." Assassin said as she summoned forth her steed of a black horse adorned with armor as she got on. "We shall meet again the next night if possible."

"Hey! I'm not done with you!" Berserker said as the Assassin galloped away off the streets as she left the area. "Tch… What a pain in the ass… Unless you've got the nerves of watching me this whole time… I know who you are. You're that Servant who refused to join our side."

"Ahh, it seems I've been caught, haven't I?" The voice of a man spoke as Berserker would turn around. A gloomy-looking man with blue-grayish long messy hair that reached to his neck as he wore a blue and white haori that looked pretty similar. He has his sword holstered on his hip as his hand rested upon the pommel of the katana. "Well, whatever. I knew you were working under that particular Master of yours but I've made up my mind. My answer is still no."

"Which is why I'm gonna kill ya." Berserker said as he grabbed his spear out of the asphalt. "Refusing to join my boss's clan is your biggest mistake. So putting you down is gonna make him happy. Of course, I'll be scoring a shitton of points the moment I take your head and deliver it to my boss on the platter."

"Yup… A Berserker will always be a Berserker. Look, I know you're not gonna let me go or your boss' lackeys are gonna chase me down to the ends of the earth. I'm going to get this over with the moment I cut you." The apparent Servant by the name of Rogue Saber which Yutaka has mentioned before spoke as he drew out his blade as his inevitable clash with Berserker would come at such a high moment.

"Ahahahahahahahaha!" Berserker laughed maniacally as he couldn't contain his laughter but calmed down. "Straight to the point, huh!? Good! 'Cause I've been waiting for this!"

And meanwhile far from the battle where in the skies where a strange bird-like creature flies from the skies and the pink haired feminine person donning some armor was seeing the battle unfold. This put the particular Servant's face and smiled.

"So this is what the Holy Grail War is about, huh? Man, this Kyoto has a lot of places to offer. And what's this? I sense something coming from that house over there…" The Servant continued. "Well whatever, keep flying Hippogriff! I just hope someone would be okay with me staying over for a night.~"

Thus, the creature known as Hippogriff soared through the skies within the night as the battle of the Holy Grail War continued on. But not all but some participants weren't out at night to look for a fight… Yet, this Servant decided to head straight to that house… where the particular European manor is located.

Edelfelt Residence, Kyoto, Japan Midnight - Clear Sky

Meanwhile back at the same residence where Luvia currently lives. She was alone in her personal room, or rather her office that she is forced to share with her Rider Servant and Oryou who gave her all but constant trouble. Though, her butler had already provided some tea for her. But currently, she was on her phone that she picked up to answer the call. On the screen shows the caller named Miyu Edelfelt as the two would have a heart-to-heart conversation.

"Oh? Miyu? I assume you wanted to talk to me? Is there something wrong back in Finland?" Luvia asked her through the phone.

"No problems at all, Luvia-sama. With all of the maids taking care of your home, it feels lonely without you around. It all feels strange." Miyu replied to her sister. Though in truth… Miyu is Luvia's adopted sister.

"Ahh, you needn't worry too much, Miyu. I promise that I'll return back to Finland to reunite with you and my family. After all, I'm rather a busy woman willing to get things done." Luvia said as she would pause for the moment as she would speak to her. "Do you remember the time that my family decided to take you in?"

"Yes… Yes I do. Your mother and father saw my potential in my abilities. And I swear to you that I won't disappoint you. Though… they expect me to act as an heir proper, which is never an easy feat to accomplish…" Miyu said with a sigh as her time there back in Finland in order to act like one. She simply chuckled on the fact that her adopted sister is still learning to this day. "But if I may ask… how is this institution coming along?"

"Ahh, you speak of my Edelfelt Foundation. Rest assured that everything will be managed by my trusted higher ups to ensure that everything is in working conditions. So, is there something you wish to say?" Luvia said to her.

"Of course. It's about the Holy Grail War that you wish to join. Are you sure this is wise? Your mother and father didn't seem to care." Miyu said in a worrying tone.

"Ahh, that… I understand how you feel. But this is my duty to reclaim the Edelfelt title after our great ancestor died in the second war in Tokyo right before it blew up. But rest assured, I will claim this Grail." Luvia said with such a confidence

"But what of the wish, Luvia-sama?" Miyu asked.

"A-Ahh… Had to mention it, did you?" Luvia asked her.

"I did." Miyu replied as she sighed.

"Well, I don't have a wish but… It's a task from Lord El-Melloi II himself." Luvia continued. "I am to deliver the grail to him so he can dismantle it. He said that the legacy of the Holy Grail War has shaped our history for long enough."

"Pretty bold of him. Luvia-sama, I don't have much time but it seems that father is asking me to train more in jewel magecraft again with a private instructor. It's… It's nice to hear your voice again." Miyu said with such a warming, calm tone as it made her smile.

"Same as well. Study hard, Miyu. And one day, you'll join the Clock Tower and learn from Lord El-Melloi II there." Luvia said to her adopted sister.

"I'd love that. For now, farewell. Stay safe." Miyu said as the call ended.

Luvia placed her phone to the ground as she would take a deep breath and looked at the lights hanging from the ceiling.

"You as well… Miyu." Luvia said to herself until the door opened as she noticed. It was Rider but with no Oryou around.

"All alone, Master?" Rider said to her.

"I was. Until you came in." Luvia said as she continued. "So, what is it? And where is your floating girl?"

"Oh, you mean Oryou? She's just taking a breather outside on the roof. Said that she wanted some fresh air." Rider explained it as it didn't surprise her. "But if I may ask. Are you sure you don't feel like going outside for another night? I mean, I don't mind either way."

"Not today, no. I was about to head to bed and begin my plans from here tomorrow afternoon. I heard words of fighting happening between Servants as August informed me during his night patrol. He mentioned to me that there are these… Rogue Servants that appeared there the moment the Saber is picking fights with the Berserker. Or rather… Rogue Saber as I have to add." Luvia explained as this caught Rider's interests.

"Well now? Seems the Grail had a malfunction, doesn't it?" Rider continued. "I get the feeling that there might be a Rogue Rider already. And I can't imagine how this will turn out."

"Either we'll see more Masters or these Servants are going to cause a bit more trouble in our attempt to secure our victory." Luvia said as if she has a headache of some lesser imagination about it.

"Ahaha…" Rider said with an awkward chuckle when he lowered his hat down to hide his eyes. "I suppose I can agree on that one."

However, Oryou suddenly appeared right next to Rider as she seemed concerned this time.

"Hey, Saka- I mean… Mister." Oryou immediately cuts off to prevent revealing Rider's name. "There's a Servant outside. Should I go deal with… her? Him?"

"S-Servant!?" Luvia instantly stood up the moment she heard of what she said.

"Yeah, you heard it right. There's a Servant outside. Oryou can take it on if this guy here allows me to do so." Oryou asked as Rider interjected.

"Now, now. Let's not get hasty. This is for our Master to decide." Rider explained shortly as he would await her decision.

"He's right. However… I wish to speak to this Servant myself. Rider, come with me in case of protection. I cannot afford to die here today." Luvia then proceeded to leave the room as Rider would follow her. Not knowing who this Servant is but she was willing to find out. But indeed she needed protection.

But just as she, Rider, and Oryou would head outside of their home… they have come across a Servant… who was on a flying four-clawed creature with an eagle for its head. But this particular person here. An androgynous-looking person with a feminine-looking body who is fancily dressed with a white cape. Beautiful beyond all comparison, that is.

"Hey hey!~ You guys live here, right? You don't mind if I can stay in your house for the night? After all, I wanna explore most places all over Japan. Surely you don't mind it, huh?~" The voice of a girlish voice coming from this person. But in Luvia's eyes along with Rider's… That person would be considered as a she. Though, to Luvia's realization… she had forgotten to put the bounded field up this whole time.

"Hey, I don't know why you're in our territory. Plus, I can sense that you're a Servant. Can I punch her already?" Oryou asked Rider as he sweatdrops of her aggressiveness.

"Calm now. She doesn't look like an enemy but is indeed a Servant." Rider said as he continued to look at her. "Please forgive her rudeness. I know you just appeared out of the blue. I believe we haven't met. Perhaps you're willing to introduce yourself?"

"Oh? You're asking for my name? How silly of me!~ I'll do so anyways!" The Servant then continued as she struck a pose. "My name is Astolfo, summoned under the Rider Class!~ It's nice to meet you!~"

Astolfo, one of the twelve Paladin Knights of Charlemange. The supposed son of an English king, and of course a king's faithful paladin. As it is said that Astolfo is the most handsome and a ladies' man. But is considered to be "weak" among the ranks according to the legend. Astolfo is an adventurer at heart who flew all over the world and of course, owned many Noble Phantasms throughout the journey. This shocks Luvia in complete surprise.

"S-She literally revealed her name in front of us… Is she that dense!?" Luvia said within her mind as she couldn't believe that a Servant like her could be Astolfo.

"I see. This is certainly troubling…" Rider continued. "I also happen to be a Rider. Unlike you, we're participants in this Third Imperial Holy Grail War if you don't know."

"Huh? So that's what it's called…" Astolfo pondered for a small moment but it didn't bother her. "Though, if you're called a Rider in this war… what's your True Name, then?"

"Sadly, this is something that I can't reveal to you. We can't trust you if you're an enemy or not while the war is currently going on." Rider continued as he turned back to look at Luvia. "Master, think you want to talk to her?"

"I-I suppose." Luvia said as she would proceed to maintain her composure. "Now then, Astolfo. Let me ask you this. You're a Rogue Servant summoned during the midst of the Grail War, yes?"

"Hmm… We're kinda considered as Rogue Servants so yes?" Astolfo answered her question but noticed one of her hands. "By the way, you happen to have a Command Seal do you? Does that mean you're a Master?"

"Ahh, so you knew…" Luvia continued as she would flick her hair in brilliance. "Of course, I am the Master of Rider in this war. But you did say that you wish to stay at our home, correct?"

"Yup. I just needed some places to go. Sooooo, you don't mind?~" Astolfo wished to see her response… but this put Luvia's idea into motion. With the Rogue Servants appearing in the war… she would use her tactic to her advantage and try to obtain a second Servant of her own.

"Actually, I got a better idea. Astolfo, I know your history all too well. You desire adventuring all throughout the world and seeing new things. I can respect you greatly. But, I promise that I will show you something that is much greater than staying at my home and leaving the next day. How about I treat you to something nice as long as you're under my care." Luvia continued. "While we're dreadfully losing in a war with no plan to think ahead and my family is in a desperate need of a turn around. Perhaps you're willing to join me and help win this Holy Grail? Surely it's a offer you can't refuse.~"

"Really now? Don't you have him already?" Astolfo mentioned Rider over there as he didn't say anything. But, Luvia needed to make a lie. A perfect lie.

"Yes but the rules changed. Masters can now obtain a second Servant if needed. Rumor has it that someone has already done it and this puts us Masters on the edge. So I truly need it. If you're willing to join me, that is." Luvia asked the paladin with an offer as Astolfo would put it into consideration… but the decision was quick as she would speak.

"Hmmm… you seemed like a nice lady soooo… Sure! You got yourself a second Servant like myself! Astolfo is at your service!" Astolfo would instantly agree to join her on a whim the moment she lends her hand out. Luvia would accept the hand as she lightly grabs it.

And at that very moment, the rules were broken… Not even the Ruler could understand. She has not one but TWO servants at her disposal. Two Riders, that is.

"Well, I'll be working with you from now on. So let's do our best, Luvia!~" Astolfo would see Luvia as her new ally. But doesn't seem to understand why Rogue Servants appeared in the first place.

"Ohohohohoho!~ This is amazing! Never in my life I would ever expect to command two Servants at the same time! Perfect… Just perfect. My chances of winning the Grail War will be at an all time high!~" Luvia would proudly laugh in nobility as she now has that advantage within her hand.

"Is she even okay?" Oryou said to Rider.

"Let her have the moment. If this would increase the chances of victory. I'm sure she'll obtain it… somehow." Rider said as this made him wonder if things like this are allowed.

"E-Eheheh… I suppose?" Astolfo said in an awkward chuckle as Luvia would revel in this. Albeit just a bit.

Hieda Residence, Kyoto, Japan Midnight - Clear Sky

First Person POV

I find myself back in our home where I opened the door to find my Servant Caster, reading the Tale of Genji here in this small library that the house has. Eventually, this has become her own personal workshop. Though, she is quiet when she is pretty much doing things at her workshop… or this library that belongs to us Hieda. She's on her seat reading the moment I sat on the chair to look at her on the other side of the table. And the moment she finishes reading it and closes the book. She then looks at me.

"Ahh, Yusei. I see you've come to my workshop. A fantastic variety of books you've collected to say the least." Caster said as I responded.

"Thanks but… that was Akyuu's work. Not mine. She takes her role as a chronicler seriously." I continued as we would continue this discussion. I haven't forgotten the promise that she has made. I need to know her name. "By the way, now that you've finished reading. Perhaps now's the time to tell me? Your name?"

Yet, this would put Caster to ponder on the question. She seems aware of it and all. But she stopped thinking as she would respond.

"Assume we've only just met last night. For what reason do you want me to reveal my name to you?" Caster asked as I remained calm.

"To know about you. Understand you, of course. Besides, you see me as a fast friend. So why not introduce yourself with your true name? I told you mine so it wouldn't be fair for some reason. Don't you think so?" I told her my reason. Though, this was her response.

"You have mentioned asking my name when we were at Higashiyama. And of course, I did finish reading the Tale of Genji so I'll hold your word to it. Now then…" Caster continued as our eyes met. "Would you like to listen to my tale?"

"Sure. I'm listening." I replied. And so, she would begin telling her tale. Something that made me curious. Wasn't she about to reveal her name? Either way, I listened.

"Let me tell you a tale, Yusei. It all began with a young little girl, founded and raised by a clan in the forests of Orkney. And that clan is known as the Rain Clan. Trained and learned the ways of the clan's finest magecraft to manipulate and wield the ways of water. And on her 16th birthday, her clan was slaughtered by rival clans that sought to claim their dominance. So, she went on a journey all over Britain to save all faeries from the impending calamity. To do so, is to forge the Holy Sword." Caster explained her tale that involves a young girl taken in by a clan and goes on a journey. I'm not familiar with this tale. "The witch who would follow her purpose and do the rights in the world, saving Britain to fulfill that very prophecy. And that young girl… Her name was Aesc, the Witch of the Rain Clan. And the name Aesc… is me. I hope that explains my tale… and my name."

"Aesc… Aesc…" I said to myself with a ponder. "I can't say I'm too familiar with the name. But when you mentioned the Holy Sword in Britain. I can only assume that it's the Excalibur, right?"

"That is correct." Caster, whose true name is Aesc answered.

"I see… You do know the Excalibur belongs within the tales of King Arthur and the Knights of the Roundtable. But your name Aesc doesn't ring a bell. Are you from an Arthurian Legend?" I asked her for her identity.

"I am… but I am not." Caster continued. "Your stories about the Arthurian Legend are vastly different compared to mine. Hence why my tale is similar in terms of legend, but not related to the original tale itself. Does this suffice?"

"Y-Yeah… I suppose." I continued after reminiscing about the results of her tale. "Though, when I saw you using water against Lancer. I suppose your title precedes you, huh?"

"Certainly!" Caster giggled a bit. "The Queen of the Land of Shadows is no match for the extravagant might of my water-based magecraft. Of course, I'll always come prepared no matter the situation."

"I can see that. What happens if we meet Lancer again?" I asked.

"We eliminate her from the war. Then again, all participants are coming for the Grail. However, I did notice something about you… You seem tired, are you?" Caster then said to me that for some reason my eyes can't stay up for the whole night. "And so it seems, you are tired."

"Yeah… I think I should sleep… What about you?" I asked her as she spoke.

"I'll continue staying here in this room and check out the books that your family has." Caster said.

"Gotcha. You're free to look at our family history and other stuff. I'll be heading off then… Goodnight, Caster." I said to my Servant as she would do the same.

"Goodnight to you as well, Yusei. Sleep nicely." Caster replied.

"That I will." I responded as I stood up from the seat and left the room. Shizuru and Akyuu are sleeping so I should be the next to do so. And so, I headed to my room and flopped onto my bed. "Ahhh… much better…"

And so, I slept… and slept. All that to skip a night. Hopefully… we can come prepared the next night should we prepare ourselves. But over all, I'm just as glad that I showed Caster… or Aesc around Higashiyama. Even to the point of meeting Murasaki Shikibu or rather Rogue Caster she called herself. Though, this makes me wonder… Are there other Rogue Servants out there? Is Ruler even aware of this? Then again, only time will tell.

Unknown Location, Kyoto, Japan Midnight - Clear Sky

Third Person POV

Meanwhile, at the location where the same young girl named Manaka Sajyou was seen sitting in the same throne-like chair in some audience chamber. There, a young white-haired girl whose hair is long but her clothes she wears is some sort of a loli-gothic styled clothing that suited her taste. She was having a conversation with Manaka as Saber and Rogue Berserker stood next to their Master on their respective sides.

"Well now, I'd never expect you to be here in Kyoto. What brings you here in particular? After all, you assisted the three known families in creating the Grail under the Third Imperial Holy Grail War, Francesca Prelati…~" Manaka said her name as she stood there, gracefully bowing herself because of her presence. It didn't scare her despite Manaka's cheery attitude. But yet hides a sinister ambition within it.

"I'm glad that I've accepted your invite, Sajyou. Of course this idea was done by me. I simply told them to do what I asked and they did. After all, seeing the destructive aftermath of Tokyo 80 years ago really motivated me, y'know?~" Francesca said as the latter would speak up.

"If I may ask you this, Prelati-chan." Manaka continued. "There was a Holy Grail War that happened five years ago before Kyoto. If I call… you said this was a test?"

"Of course!~ It was simply called the Prototype Holy Grail War. And by prototype… Mr. Tokiomi Tohsaka had an idea to have it in Fuyuki. And my oh my, it worked like a charm…" Francesca pouted as her eyes shifted away. "If it wasn't for that meddling Magus Killer and that Einzbern homunculus whore, everything would've gone smoothly."

"And so I've heard… Kiritsugu Emiya is a man not to be trifled with. Yet, the grail held in Fuyuki was dismantled in the end. Am I correct?" Manaka asked.

"Correct. It lasted for two days. Never in my life has the war ended so quickly. Thus, this is merely a minor setback. That is until we've decided to hold it here in Kyoto as a Third. Think of it as a way to continue from the Second. After all, there were no winners previously. Everything is all just a blur. A shrouded mystery that'll never be solved." Francesca continued. "So, how are you liking my new idea I came up with? Introducing the participants of the seven Rogue Servants in this war. By the look on your face, you seemed happy."

"Of course I am!~ This is great! Not even Ruler would do something about it! Ahahaha!~" Manaka then realized… "Wait… Is she even aware?"

"Not at the moment, no. But if she were to find out… She'll take the liberty to do something with them. Worse… controlling them as her own Servants." Francesca pondered about Ruler as she thought of the worse case scenario. "Well, I'm merely speculating. So how are your plans coming along? Surely you have a lot of ways to go when these Masters are in your way of succeeding."

"Oh don't worry, they'll be dealt with swiftly once they send their Servants to kill each other. Yet, all six are still active which concerns me." Manaka said as she slumped on her throne.

"You have yet to send Saber out in the night, Sajyou." Francesca asked. "Or better yet, your Rogue Berserker as well."

"Rogue Berserker is my beloved bodyguard and he will protect my life as his utmost absolute. Saber on the other hand…" Manaka then looked at Saber which she did not look at her Master but remained silent like an obedient soldier. "Her army of vicious hounds are ready to be used but that for another time. She will take part in this battle the next night. I simply wish to see her strength tested on other Servants."

"That you do." Francesca turned around. "Okay!~ Now that our discussion is over. I'll be heading back to Italy.~"

"Oh? May I ask why?" Manaka asked her as the latter winked at her with her playful expression.

"That's a secret.~ Good luck on winning the war, Manaka Sajyou. I expect great hopes form you. Arrivederci!~" Francesca then gracefully bows and proceeds to leave in the process. Now, the three were alone as Saber would speak in.

"Master." Saber continued. "With all due respect, I don't trust her one bit…"

"Oh? Then how come?" Manaka asked as her servant looked down with a slight concerned look.

"This… Prelati you mentioned. It seems she is hiding from us regarding the Grail. As if she knows of the flaws that were purely intentional in her eyes. Are you sure this is wise? Forming this alliance with this young girl? The magic presence she carries is definitely an essence of an Se-" Saber was interrupted.

"Don't be hasty, Saber. We have a plan to carry out. And I happen to have a mission… Just. For. You.~" Manaka continued. "For your next night, you will be deployed. And I want you to find the Servants and crush them. Masters will double your points should you kill them.~"

"Very well, Master. I shall do so tomorrow night. But what of the Rogue Servants roaming around?" Saber asked.

"Ignore them for now. They're not worth your time. Oh and, you're free to bring those hounds with you if you wish to do so.~" Manaka said to her Servant as she simply nodded without question or saying anything.

And so, her plans will come into motion. And her intention to crush her enemies is sound. And for this next night… the hound will be released from her cage. The war itself continues on…

Author's Notes: Hello all, thank you for reading the second chapter. It seems things are picking up the pace. Manaka Sajyou intends to send Saber for the next night and unleash it upon the Masters and Servants. And of course, Francesca Prelati is seemingly involved in this Third Imperial Holy Grail War, too. Things will surely kick up a notch. But what of the mysterious flow that Yusei experienced? Along with that mysterious being. That will be revealed in the next chapter. And perhaps for the first time in the next chapter… Yusei might experience some new changes from within should he and Caster go out on the next night. She has a cheerful confidence that her actions are righteous.

Charisma Under Adversity - A

Aesc always appeared before the weak and tormented fae and turned the tables. She was at her most invigorated when facing adversity, and was the very image of hope in the tormented's eyes when they saw her defeat a powerful opponent. Aesc gains extra effects in addition to the usual Charisma fare.
