Chapter 13

As we head back outside of Captain Cyllene's office, we notice Akari rushing towards us. "There you are! You'd better hurry to the commander's office!" she exclaims urgently.

"Wait, what's happening?" I ask, feeling confused, and the three of us rush to Commander Kamado's office. We're surprised to see Kamado in discussion with Beni and Adaman. Beni notices us and speaks up, "Ash, Rei, and Alice! We have a situation here!"

Adaman turns to us, saying, "Let me explain. Lilligant, our clan's Lady of the Ridge, is in a frenzy...And Arezu knowingly kept this from me!"

"Lady of the Ridge?" Alice asks.

"Yes, there are only female Lilligant, which makes this honored one our Lady of the Ridge," Adaman explains. "But this isn't the time for cultural lessons! I'd like to find out just what Arezu was thinking, but she's nowhere in Jubilife Village."

"The last time I saw her, she was at the Wallflower, polishing off a big plate of potato mochi. Not that I blame her - my cooking is simply irresistible, after all," Beni adds.

"If Arezu of the Diamond Clan was somehow involved in that situation with the raging Ursaluna of the Pearl Clan, it could lead to the two clans going at each other's throats again!" Kamado expresses concern.

"Tell me, Commander. If we do end up in a struggle with the Pearl Clan, what will your people do?" Adaman inquires.

"We would be forced to remain neutral..." Kamado sighs.

"What does that mean?" I interject.

"If we were to show support for one side, it would put us at odds with the other. We came here to create a home for ourselves, not to take part in tearing the land apart..."

"Right. Of course...After all the work you've put in to get us to treat one another as equals and keep us from fighting...I suppose it's no surprise you'd refuse to intervene if trouble were to break out again," Adaman nods in understanding.

"Ash, Alice, and Rei, perhaps you have some idea how we might address this situation?" Kamado asks.

"I think we can seek help from Ursaluna. We managed to calm its rage before, and Alice can use the Celestica Flute," Rei says.

"Ursaluna? So he and Warden Calaba found you worthy? That's perfect, then," Adaman exclaims. "Ursaluna should be able to sniff out Arezu, wherever she's gone."

"If you're strong enough that Ursaluna deemed you worthy, then you should be ready to quell Lilligant's frenzy as well," Kamado advises.

"I'll head to Lilligant's seat, then - Brava Arena, it's called. If you'll excuse me!" Adaman quickly leaves, with Beni following closely.

"Listen well, Ash, Rei, and Alice. You must quell any Pokémon that could cause harm to the people of Hisui. Always remember: we came here to make a new home where we could live without war or strife," Kamado emphasizes.

We nod as we leave the office. "So if there's Lilligant, that must mean Petilil really is in this Hisui Region," Alice remarks.

"And Lilligant being one of the Diamond Clan's Nobles...who would have thought about that?" I respond.

"But we have to find Arezu first, that's for sure," Rei concludes as we depart from Kamado's office.

As we leave Jubilife Village and head towards the Crimson Mirelands, we encounter a staff member who mentions Arezu. "That girl who set out earlier must've been eating some of Beni's potato mochi. I could still smell them on her. That reminds me - I've seen Mistress Calaba riding around on that Ursaluna she serves, digging for treasure in the ground. I wonder if Ursaluna uses his sense of smell to suss out where treasure might be?"

"That might be perfect; Ursaluna can smell much better than us. We can follow her scent," I suggest as Alice plays the flute, asking Ursaluna to find Arezu.

Upon reaching Scarlett Bog, we discover Arezu on the ground with a wounded leg. "Arezu, are you alright?" Rei asks with concern.

Arezu notices us and asks, "Oh, Ash, Rei, and Alice... How did it all go with Ursaluna?"

"You can see right here, we managed to calm him down," I explain.

"Wow, you really are strong. But...how'd you find me all the way out here?" Arezu asks.

"Ursaluna managed to track your scent of those potato mochis you ate, and that's why we found you here," Alice adds.

"That Ursaluna sure is something. I know he's descended from one of the Pokémon that were blessed by almighty Sinnoh...but still, wow!" Arezu exclaims. "My luck's run out, though...as you can most likely tell."

"What happened to your leg, Arezu?" Rei inquires with concern.

"I got chased by a Pokémon and sprained my ankle pretty bad as I was running away. It's almost like the world wants to punish me..." Arezu says.

"Ahhh, there you are, Arezu, right?" Suddenly, Calaba appears in front of us.

"Eek! M-Mistress Calaba! Uh, I-I-I didn't..." Arezu panics.

"I owe you an apology. I treated you with disrespect, thinking you were just some whelp from the Diamond Clan. I'm sorry for that. I should've treated you better," Calaba apologizes.

"Huh? Wait. But..." Arezu is confused.

"It's not your fault that Lilligant became frenzied nor that my Ursaluna was so enraged. You were trying to help them both, weren't you? I didn't even have the courtesy to listen to you. You'd think someone who's lived as long as I have would be more patient."

"It's OK...I didn't do a good job explaining myself, either," Arezu says. "Ursaluna only started acting weird after he got too close to Lilligant and smelled her perfume. She was already frenzied by that point, so I'm sure that's what caused it…"

"Ah, that explains the strange powder I found on Ursaluna. It must've been powder from Lilligant," Calaba nods. "But what happened to your leg, dear?"

"I was gathering ingredients to make balms...But I...I fell and sprained my ankle," Arezu frowns. "See, the reason I went to Jubilife was to get help for Ursaluna and also learn about crafting. But while I was there, I bumped into Professor Laventon, and he told me about the balms you used to quell Kleavor. So I thought I'd make some for Lilligant using her favorite foods…"

"Just great, it seems that something similar is going to happen again…" I mutter.

"You Galaxy people know all sorts of things. I'd like to learn even more from you, really…" Arezu expresses.

"Well, then we'd better take care of our lady and get all this mess resolved first!" Just then, Adaman shows up and approaches Arezu.

"Adaman!" She gasps.

Adaman grows frustrated with Arezu's actions. "What were you thinking, doing all this yourself? Did you think I couldn't help you?" He then softens, his expression turning into a frown. "Though...no one would blame you for thinking so. Not much of a leader, am I? I've never even seen the almighty Sinnoh with my own eyes. And I failed to imagine that Lilligant might have become frenzied, too…"

"Stop blaming yourself, Adaman," Alice intervenes, surprising the leader. "We can't predict the fact that Lilligant has become frenzied. That's why we have to bring it back to normal."

I say, "We have what it takes to stop her, so there's still some time to return her to normal. Don't give up until it's over."

Adaman nods while picking up the basket of balms, "Listen up, Ash, Rei, Alice. I'll take the balms that Arezu made and meet you at Brava Arena!"

Calaba adds, "Don't you worry, Arezu. Ash, Alice, and Rei will calm Lilligant, and that will be that. Things should settle down. Head to Brava Arena; that's where Lilligant's seat lies. Arezu will be taken care of. My dear Bibarel and I will make sure she reaches her lady."

With Adaman rushes ahead, we decide to catch up to him there at the Brava Arena

Upon arriving at the arena, we find Adaman and he asks, "So, you've come. I take it means you're ready?"

"Of course, Alice and I are ready to calm Lilligant," I say.

Adaman looks ahead and says, "Lady Lilligant's a sight to see, even in her frenzy. Behold her, and be grateful!"

"I hope we didn't keep you waiting." We're surprised to see both Arezu and Calaba managing to arrive much quicker than expected.

"That was fast..." Rei remarks.

"All it took was one of my poultices to get Arezu's leg all patched up," Calaba says.

"Calaba, ma'am. I'm deeply sorry we've had to lean on your help so much - especially as we're from different clans," Adaman expresses.

"Arezu tried to solve the whole situation herself," Calaba shakes her head. "I daresay she bit off more than she could chew and caused some trouble, but her heart was in the right place."

Arezu shows confidence and says, "Listen! The Lady of the Ridge, Lilligant, is like a dancer - always in motion, always darting about. You'll wanna watch her real close and learn how to dodge her moves!"

"That's right. If you keep on dodging, she might get tired out - and that'll be your opening! That's when you can bring out your own Pokémon and prove your might. Don't let me down!" Adaman advises.

"Sure," I say as we walk towards the arena, but all we see is fog. Just then, strong winds start blowing, and Lilligant appears in front of us.

"Is that Lilligant? But what happened to the skirt?" Alice asks.

"I don't know, but that doesn't seem like the Lilligant we knew about," I observe.

Lilligant starts to spin around and jump while singing, notes appearing in the air. Alice and I start throwing the balms at the Pokémon. Just then, Lilligant goes for the Jump Kick, and we manage to dodge it before it lands on the ground.

"Is that a Jump Kick? Does that mean the Lilligant is a Fighting-type?" Alice asks.

"I know for sure that the Lilligant I know was a pure Grass..." I recall.

After throwing more balms, it starts charging up its energy and sends shockwaves towards us, causing us to fall to the ground. But then it gets tired, and I take the chance to summon Dartrix.

"Use Aerial Ace!" I yell, and Dartrix shoots the attack, causing Lilligant to faint.

"So it is a Grass- and Fighting-type! That must be a Hisuian Form!" Alice gasps.

"Just wonderful... not only do we have new Pokémon, but Pokémon with new forms as well," I remark.

However, as long as the Frenzy is not over, Lilligant can come back to fight against us. We have to dodge the attacks, but Alice takes a hit to her knee as she falls down.

"Alice!" I rush towards her. "Are you okay?"

"I hurt my knee..." Alice frowns.

I notice Lilligant trying to create another shockwave and click my tongue. "Wyrdeer!" I send out Wyrdeer and ask him to carry Alice on his back, then continue throwing the balms until the last one hits Lilligant, returning it back to normal.

"Alice, dear. You should have this," Calaba takes out the poultice, and I say, "Let me do it for her."

Calaba nods as she hands it over to me, and I tie it around Alice's leg. After that, Lilligant walks towards me, presenting a green plate. "The Meadow Plate... my fourth plate..."

I read the words and say, "The powers of Plates are shared among Pokémon."

Adaman says, "Hey, thank you. You didn't just save Lilligant - you saved Arezu as well. I appreciate it."

"First Ursaluna and now Lilligant! You're amazing, you know that?" Arezu asks. "Being all frenzied didn't suit Lilligant one bit. I'm so happy she's back to her graceful self."

Lilligant nods as she jumps around. Adaman turns to Arezu and says, "Arezu! You still owe someone an apology."

Arezu is confused, but Calaba says, "Oh, don't worry about it. A young one like her is bound to get caught up in some trouble from time to time. Remember what's written in the Solaceon Ruins? "All lives touch other lives to create something anew and alive." There's wisdom in those words...I imagine they're the teaching of almighty Sinnoh itself. Of course, I'd completely forgotten about them until a certain somebody helped me remember."

"We owe you one, ma'am," Adaman nods.

"Don't try to solve everything by yourself, Arezu," Calaba advises. "You're a warden. Of all people, we should know how to stand in solidarity with others. It's our job to stand side by side with Pokémon, after all."

Arezu lowers her head, "Yes, I know...I'm sorry..."

"Well, I can hardly start yelling at you now after Calaba wrapped all that up so nicely. Just one more thing, Arezu. I know you were trying to do what you thought was right, and I approve of that. But from now on, do it without keeping things from me. Agreed? Other than that, no need to change a thing," Adaman says. "Except maybe to put in some training! If anything else happens to Lilligant, I need you ready to protect her like the warden you are!"

"I understand..." Arezu nods.

"Let's work together from now on to keep the mirelands safe, Arezu," Calaba says. "I'll be sure to inform Irida that both the Diamond Clan and Galaxy Team helped save Ursaluna. You did well, Ash, Alice, and Rei. All our different groups finally joined hands to work together today. I admit, it was a fun day for me. But now it's about time I will be on my way."

"Listen. You know me - I'm Adaman, leader of the Diamond Clan, and I worship almighty Sinnoh, the ruler of time. Time is all about change, and we can't live in fear of that - we can only try to help the time we live in change for the better. Something tells me helping you folks out will help me do that. I'm looking forward to it!" Adaman says.

"Thank you for everything. I think I'll stay and talk to Lilligant for a while," Arezu says as she walks toward the Pokémon. "What happened, Lilligant? How'd a kind-hearted Pokémon like you end up all frenzied, huh? Though it's not like I'm perfect...I hid things and lied and couldn't even keep you safe. I'm really sorry about everything..."

Lilligant walks towards her, assuring her not to worry, and Alice, I, Rei, Adaman, and Calaba decide to leave them alone for now.

"So where are you guys going next?" Adaman asks.

"Well, we might go to the Professor and tell him about the news of the Lilligant," I say. "We also might want to do some of the fieldwork before leaving Crimson Mirelands."

After bidding farewell, Alice, Rei, and I head to the Holm of Trials, a place where Petilil can be found. As we explore the area, we finally spot one by the riverside. With careful consideration, I throw a Poke Ball and successfully capture it.

"It is a good thing that I have a Sun Stone, that's how you evolve Petilil into a Lilligant, right?" I ask Alice.

"But are you sure about that? I mean... are you sure that's how you evolve it?" Alice asks.

"There's one way to find out," I say as I use the Sun Stone on Petilil. Much to our delight, Petilil evolves into a Hisuian Lilligant.

Lilligant (Hisuian Form): The Flowering Pokemon: Grass and Fighting Type. Evolve from Petilil with Sun Stone. I suspect that its well-developed legs are the result of a life spent on mountains covered in deep snow. The scent it exudes from its flower crown heartens those in proximity.

"Rei, what is the Victory Dance? I mean, I don't think we've seen the Lady of the Ridge do that..."

"It is a move that boosts the Attack, Defense, and Speed Stat of Lilligant," Rei replies. "And that's all."

"Wait, is that a Sliggoo?" I'm surprised to see an Alpha Sliggoo covered with a grey shell.

Rei says, "Ah, a Hisuian Sliggoo! I've always wanted to find one of those because it shares the same typing as me."

"It must be a Hisuian Form," Alice remarks. "We should also try to work on that." And then we capture the Pokemon and add it to our team.

Sliggoo (Hisuian Form): The Snail Pokemon: Steel and Dragon Type. Evolve from Goomy at LV:40. A creature given to melancholy. I suspect its metallic shell developed as a result of the mucus on its skin reacting with the iron in Hisui's water.

As we continue our journey, Ursaluna's keen sense of smell helps us discover a Peat Block. However, we realize that it's not the full moon yet, so evolving Ursaring will have to wait. We decide to return to Jubilife Village. But just before we can depart, we encounter Volo.

"You're a real wonder! I saw light disappearing into the space-time rift. Quelled another frenzied Pokémon, have you?" Volo asks.

"Yeah, so what about it?" Rei asks.

"We still don't know what's causing the lightning that frenzies these Pokémon... But you! You just go on rescuing them, without even a hint of trepidation! You might even change the entire course of history here in Hisui..." Volo acknowledges. "And I definitely want to be in the good books of someone like that! Let's stay in touch, friend!"

After Volo departs, we encounter Professor Laventon and show him the Pokedex. Once that's done, he says, "What's this? You quelled Lady Lilligant? Smashing! Let's head back to the village, then. The commander will be wanting a report."

We nod as we all head into the carriage and leave the Crimson Mirelands.
