The Wayne Family's Heir
In Gotham, cameras flashed at the two women, one with short brown hair, the other with long, shoulder-length hair of the same shade. They looked almost identical and were both putting on a show as they stood in front of a lawyer's office in the heart of the city.
"Ms. Kanes! Ms. Kanes! Where have you been this time?" A paparazzi asked the pair.
"Locked away," the shorter-haired woman, Kate Kane, responded.
"We were kidnapped but now we're free," the other woman, Beth Kane, explained, going with their story – which was a half-truth.
"Have you been kept up to date in current affairs?" Another paparazzi asked.
"If you mean our dear cousin, Bruce's death, yes," Kate Kane said faking a convincing a sad look on her face.
"Which is why we're here," Beth added. "To inherit what is ours."
"Now if you please leave us," Kate added, moving into the office.
"We will get our share of the Wayne fortune," Beth added at this, waving away the flashing lights as they entered the building, instantly greeting those within.
Making their introductions, the sisters were moved off to a private room to wait for their meeting, giving them time to talk as Kate smirked at Beth.
"It all went to plan," Beth stated. The media had eaten up Kate and Beth Kane coming back to life.
"Beth and Kate back from the dead with a viable reason," Kate added, smirking.
"Poor Mouse though – I wish we could involve him," Beth mused.
"We'll introduce Mouse when the time is right. For now, it's the Kane sisters' time to shine," Kate stated, Beth agreeing at this as they awaited their lawyer to present himself.

The next morning and Rae was currently feeding Leona, the girl happily eating the food as Rae herself also ate breakfast.
"Chris, is Courtney upstairs?" Rae asked as Chris came down the stairs to grab the breakfast Rae made.
"Nope," Chris said, taking his own plate. "Did she have an early morning shift today?"
"It's her day off according to Kara," Rae said as she finished giving Leona her food and cleaned her mouth and hands. Rae took out her phone as Chris started to eat, calling Courtney. "She's not answering." Rae mumbled after the phone went to voicemail. "I think I am going to go find her."
"You need me to watch Leona?" Chris asked.
"I got it," Rae said taking Leona before running off.
"Of course," Chris mumbled, knowing Rae would never be parted from her daughter.

Back in Gotham, Selina and Helen were having breakfast in Wayne Manor.
"Mistress Selina," Alfred said, approaching Selina. "I need a word."
"Always," Selina said as Alfred sat down beside her.
"Did you ever know Master Bruce had cousins?" Alfred said – after pausing for a moment, seeming to figure out how to explain what he needed to.
"The dead ones who died in a car accident with their mother, Bruce's aunt?" Selina asked. "Beth and… Kate, right?"
"Master Bruce did tell you a lot. This makes it easier," Alfred said. "Turns out they are not so dead. They survived the wreck, but a man took them and kept them prisoners." Selina took a deep breath. "He recently died, and they are now free."
"How do you know this?" Selena asked.
"They just came public," only now Alfred showed her the newspaper he had, with the images of the Kane sisters' outside of their lawyer's office, "They did three DNA tests same as Helen," Alfred said; even though Alfred had been absolutely sure Helen was Bruce's daughter, the board of Wayne Industries needed DNA tests – one done by Wayne Industries themselves, and then two done by independent labs. It was overkill in Alfred's opinion, but it was the system Bruce's father set up for an unknown child making themselves known. It had been done a lot with several people trying to claim to be Bruce's or his father's child, but none ever coming back as positive except Helen – and now Kate and Beth Kane. "And now the two are suing me for the Wayne Estate."
"How could they do that? Bruce's Will?" Selina asked.
"The fact Bruce's Will leaves everything to me, and I raised Bruce as my own when he was younger are points my lawyers are making, but they are his blood relatives. The fact Bruce thought them as dead plays in their favor. My lawyers say they can get a lot unless…" Alfred said, and then paused again "we produce Bruce's real heir."
"Helen," Selina said, the girl looking up from her breakfast at this.
"Children inherit before any other blood relative," Alfred said. "I know we have been keeping Helen secret to keep her out of the media, but it's very important for us to keep, not only Wayne Industries, but we also need to keep the Manor."
"And the Batcave," Selina said with a nod. "What has to be done?"
"Everyone wants a quick verdict on this so there is a hearing today before a judge. You come with me as Helen Kyle's legal guardian. My lawyers will put in a claim of an heir showing the DNA test and the board accepting Helen as Bruce's heir. Then you will support me keeping control of the Estate," Alfred said.
"Okay," Selina nodded. "Does Helen…?"
"No, with you being there as her legal guardian, we don't necessarily need her with us," Alfred stated, knowing how Selina felt about her daughter going public. "But it would be good to have a photograph of her."
"Okay then, let's see if Sara and Tommy can babysit Helen while we do this," Selina agreed.

Courtney was sitting on a bench when she heard the familiar voice as there was a flash and Rae was sitting next to her. She had Leona on her lap and a diaper bag around her shoulder.
"Hey," Rae stated.
"How did you find me?" Courtney asked.
"You're not hard to find," Rae stated. "Blue Valley again, huh?"
"I come here every so often to… see them," Courtney said. They were on the main street looking into a restaurant. "I found Beth. She's still the loner she was when I first got here, going through her parents' divorce with no friends. Yolanda is dating Henry King Jr., which I don't understand how he's alive – his mother was my father's sister. He said… his father told him. I mean his father was a supervillain though who killed his son."
"There are many ways this Henry can be alive," Rae said. "For one, his father could have lied and that wasn't true. Or they could have been half siblings on your grandfather side. No relation to the original Courtney. Or Courtney could have adopted a girl on your world who was still born here but not blood related to your father. Or your father and his mother called each other brother and sister but really were just good friends. Same way I consider Diana my sister."
"Diana?" Courtney asked.
"Wonder Woman," Rae whispered, and Courtney nodded. "Court, maybe you should talk to them."
"You said that was a bad idea last year," Courtney pointed out.
"I said it was a bad idea to tell them who you are," Rae pointed out. "But you clearly need some closure. Maybe talking to them would give you that. Just don't tell them about your world."
"What would I say?" Courtney asked.
"How about hello?" Rae pointed out, and Courtney gave her a slight push which made Leona laugh. Before either could say anything else, though, Rae's phone rang.
"Home base... meaning…" Rae mumbled as she answered the phone with the usual: "SuperEarth, Prime, or Karry?"
"Karry," Barry's voice said.
"And Prime technically," another Barry said.
"Two for one," Rae grinned. "What do I owe the pleasure?"
"We need you to come over to my Earth for a Paragon meeting," one of the Barry's said.
"Which Barry is talking?" Rae asked.
"Oh, Prime," a Barry said again. "We need to get all the Paragons together."
"Why?" Rae asked – since Crisis, being a Paragon was a big part of who they all were; the connection between them and Oliver as Spectre was still there, but with Crisis over there wasn't anything for them to do.
"It's complicated. We'll explain when you're here," Rae wasn't sure which Barry said it but it didn't matter.
"Okay," Rae said and then Leona gave a cry out. "I'm guessing I shouldn't bring Leona?"
"Not a good idea if this goes how we plan," one Barry said.
"I'll be there once I find someone to watch her," Rae said and hung up the phone. "Leona time to go to mam… wait, no Kara has meetings all day today. Chris offered before…."
"I can take her," Courtney said.
"Wait, you sure?" Rae asked.
"Yeah I'm just going to be here for a while. I can sit around and take care of Leona," Courtney said.
"Thank you," Rae said putting Leona on Courtney's lap and then leaving the diaper bag next to Courtney. "There's money and my credit card in the side pocket. Treat yourself to whatever you want," Courtney gave a nod. "And consider just saying hi or something to them."
"I will," Courtney said as Rae went off. "Well, guess it's just me and you, now." Leona let out of a breath of cold air right at Courtney, reminding Courtney that she was still part Kryptonian. "I forgot you do that now when not in the sanctuary…" Courtney smiled though at the little girl.
-New Justice-
Selina felt weird in court. Not being in a fancy dress – she had done that many times as a thief. But she was in court, not because she was being charged with any crime, but because she came here willingly to help Alfred. She never expected she would ever willingly walk into any courtroom, even if not a criminal one, but here she was.
Beth's and Kate's lawyer had made a big speech about how, as Bruce's only family, the entire Wayne Estate should be rewarded to the two.
"The Will means nothing," the lawyer was saying, "Bruce Wayne did not know his cousins were alive and the Will would be different had he known. The fact he offered rewards for information on the two whereabouts is proof of that, in itself. And the claim Alfred Pennyworth is Bruce's father is laughable at best," the lawyer finished.
At this Selina and Alfred's lawyer stood up; Selina had met him before they entered the room. He was a nice man named Brad who was very charming.
"Whether my opponent likes it or not, Alfred Pennyworth was Bruce Wayne's legal guardian from the time his parents died to when he was legally a man. The word 'parent' is the right word in this case," Brad started. "But if we want to get into blood family, children inherit before cousins. I have here Selina Kyle, mother to Helen Kyle, Bruce's biological daughter."
Brad picked up papers. "Result of three DNA tests, one by a Wayne Labs and by two independent labs as the Wayne Estate requires, proving Bruce Wayne as Helen's father – and a letter from the board of Wayne Industries, accepting Helen as Bruce's heir," Brad said, passing out the papers to the judge and the other lawyer. "Selina Kyle as Helen's legal guardian is here supporting Alfred's claim and asking the courts to leave the Estate how it is."
With this information, the judge now addressed Selina: "Ms. Kyle," the judge said. "Why wouldn't you want me to reward the estate to you and your daughter?"
Selina stood up at this. "Alfred has been really good to us and would run the fortune a lot better than I could and has agreed to train Helen the same way he did Bruce to take over one day," Selina answered.
"I do have a copy of Alfred Pennyworth Will," Brad added, taking another set of papers. "As you can see, should my client die, all the assets monetary and physical will be inherited by Helen Kyle – except some personal belonging and one bank account which will go to Alfred's own daughter, Julia Pennyworth."
"And how can we be sure she won't contest the will?" The judge asked.
"Julia Pennyworth has no interest in Wayne Industry and has already signed agreements she won't contest Helen Kyle getting her birthright," Brad said, showing the needed paperwork as well. "The end all to be here is Bruce Wayne has a biological heir, a daughter, and that daughter's mother is here supporting Alfred Pennyworth."
"These DNA tests are nearly two years old," Beth and Kate's lawyer said. "Where has this heir been this whole time?"
"We kept the Wayne heir out of the public eye for security and safety reasons," Brad said. "But both Selina and Helen Kyle have been living in Wayne Manor."
"With the Queens?" The opposite lawyer said.
"Yes," Brad said. "And who exactly is living in the Manor has no effect on this meeting. The end all to be all is children inherit before cousins."
"The fact remains, should Bruce Wayne had known his cousins were alive he would have left them something," the other lawyer said.
"And if Bruce Wayne knew he had a daughter he would have left her everything," Brad countered.
"Enough. You have both made your points," the judge said. "Giving this new information, I am going to look over both cases and current laws. I will be back with my decision this afternoon. Court adjourned," the judge exclaimed.
-New Justice-
In Blue Valley, Courtney had taken Leona into the little café planning on getting a coffee when Leona started to cry.
"Hey, it's okay," Courtney said to the little girl, bouncing her on her knee as she waited for her order. She went to grab a toy from the diaper bag, hoping that would calm her but she accidentally tilted the bag wrong and the toy – and several other things fell – onto the floor. "Damn..." Courtney groaned.
"I got it," a familiar voice spoke that caused Courtney freeze as the familiar woman came up and helped picked up the things that fell. Courtney wasn't surprised why her mother of this Earth would help – this was exactly the type of thing Barbra Whitmore would do and Courtney had been spying on her alternate family for a while before coming in.
"Um… thanks," Courtney said taking the objected with one hand as she balanced the still-crying Leona with her other.
"It's not a problem," Barbra said. "I think your daughter needs to be changed."
"Um… no… no, this is… well sort of, technically, my little sister," Courtney said, not wanting Barbra to think Leona was her daughter. "But you might be right about needing a change."
"How do you have a sort of technically sister?" This was Mike, who was sitting at the table behind them with Yolanda and Pat.
"Mike, that's not right to ask," Pat said to his son.
"It's fine. My family… unexpectedly died and a family friend took me in and adopted me. This is their daughter, who I am regretting volunteering babysitting for," Courtney said, being honest about that. She had babysat Leona several times when both Rae and Kara needed to go for League business but that had always been just inside the house. It was harder out in public.
"Courtney?" Her name was called to pick up her coffee.
"That would be me," Courtney said.
"Go change your sister. I'll grab your coffee for you," Barbra said, and Courtney gave a smile as she went into the bathroom with Leona to change the girl.
"Maybe you were helpful," Courtney whispered to Leona as she was done changing the girl and Leona was happy. "You were a good ice breaker..." Courtney figured Rae was right and she needed some closure and now she had an opening. She went back to the table with Leona, her alternate mom waiting for her. "Thanks, and I don't think I caught your names." It was a lie, of course – she knew their names, but she needed to keep up the act.
"I'm Barbra, my husband Pat, and our children Yolanda and Mike," Barbra said. Of course, Courtney knew they had taken in Yolanda on this world.
"Courtney, as you can guess," Courtney said pointing at her name written on the cup. "And this is Leona," Courtney lifted Leona a little, who was now not crying and seemed happy.
"Are you new in town? I can bring you around and introduce you to my friends," Yolanda said. "We'd probably be in the same grade."
"Thanks, but I don't live in town," Courtney said. "Just passing through while this one's mom takes care of some business," it wasn't necessarily a lie. She really was just passing through and Rae was taking care of something.
"Well, if you're looking for something to do, the summer fair is open today," Pat said. "There will be a lot of rides and games you can do with that little one and a concert at night."
"Thanks, I'll check it out. Maybe I'll see you there. And hey, thanks again for the help," Courtney said.
"Not a problem," Barbra said and then turned back to her family. Courtney paused for a moment before going to head out the door. It was a small chat, and it was nice talking to them again, but them treating her like a stranger was heartbreaking, too.
-New Justice-
Back in Gotham, the group had gotten the instruction to return to the courtroom; that the judge had reached a decision. Beth and Kate were there waiting as well with their lawyer. It was another moment before the judge returned.
"After looking over all claims and doing some research," the judge began, "it is obvious Helen Kyle is Bruce Wayne's heiress. And that Ms. Selina Kyle has trust in Alfred Pennyworth and his daughter to make sure her daughter gets what she deserves, trust that might be well earned. To avoid any future surprises and more courts, the majority of the Wayne Estate – including physical and monetary assets – will be transferred into a trust and given to Helen Kyle on her 21st birthday. Until such a time, Alfred Pennyworth will be the executor and controller of the trust."
"As for the assets not going into the trust," the judge continued before anyone could say anything. "Bruce Wayne only named one person in his will for good reasons. Alfred Pennyworth was his legal guardian from a young age. As of such certain possessions and a large sum of money shall remain in your ownership and this can be left in your Will to whoever you want, Mr. Pennyworth, whether you choose to give it back to Helen Kyle or pass it on to your own daughter is your choice."
"Thank you," Alfred said with a nod.
"And as for the two Ms. Kanes, while you are not entitled to the entire Wayne Estate, the argument that if your cousin had known you were alive, he would have left you something I cannot ignore. Therefore, you will both receive monetary sum. Also, there is a rarely used vacation house the Wayne's own just outside the city," the judge said, glancing to Alfred now, "if it is agreeable, this home can be transferred into the Kane name on your behalf."
Alfred leaned over and whispered something to Brad. "There is no objection to them getting that house, but we would like to go and remove personal objects from inside," Brad said.
"Very well," the judge said. "The exact amount and what each person is getting shall be sent to each party by the end of the week." With that, it was clear that this case was over as the Judge dismissed the court and got up to leave.
"I'm sorry," Selina said to Alfred as they got up.
"For what?" Alfred asked.
"The Will didn't stay in place as you wanted it," Selina said.
"But I keep control over the majority of the Wayne Estate until Mistress Helen is of age and then she gets what is rightfully hers. What I would have given to her anyway. Besides, I am getting old... It would be nice to retire eventually. Maybe I will train you how to run the company and the finances and you could take over the trust in a number of years, instead," Alfred said and Selina just gave a nervous laugh but then hugged him.
Leaving the courtroom now, Selina couldn't help but notice the look of death both Kane sisters were giving them. It was unnerving.
-New Justice-
Courtney did go to the Blue Valley Fair, and she had to admit this was something her Earth hadn't done that seemed fun. There were several rides and games and places to buy food. She bought tickets and took Leona on some small rides she could go on. The girl spent the time laughing and enjoying herself.
Courtney kept her eyes out for people she knew – and she did see some people from her Earth, but no one of great importance. She realized that Cindy was nowhere to be found and neither was Cameron, the son of a supervillain who Courtney herself kind of liked. She knew Rick Tyler didn't exist here, since his grandfather, the original Hourman Rex Tyler, had married Amaya, also known as the original Vixen, so he hadn't existed here.
It was when they were by a game that she saw Beth trying to toss a ring around the bottle and failing.
"You need to aim a little lower," Courtney spoke up, surprising the girl. "If you would hold her, I can show you?"
"Um… sure," Beth seemed surprised someone was talking to her, but took Leona as Courtney paid to get some rings and tossed them, ach one landing around a bottle, resulting in the stall operator handing her a stuff animal. "That was awesome!"
"Want it?" Courtney asked, holding up the stuffed tiger as she took Leona back. Leona though had other ideas as she took the stuff animal instead.
"I don't think she would be very happy if I did," Beth said with a smile. "I'm Beth."
"Courtney. This is my little sister, Leona," Courtney said.
"Are you new in town?" Beth asked.
"Just passing through," Courtney said. "Any idea what's good to eat here? I know this little one is hungry and the little snacks I have won't calm her for long."
"There are several amazing food trucks serving food. I am sure we can find something. Mind if I join? I'm hungry as well," Beth said, and Courtney realized she was just reaching out for someone to spend time with. Her heart broke a little for her alternate friend at this.
"You're welcome to join, right, Leona?" Courtney said to the girl. Leona was busy biting the tiger stuffed animal now and Courtney noticed she must have blown some freeze breath on it because part of the tiger was a little wetter than drool, like it had been slightly frozen and then melted.
Beth and Courtney went to the food trucks, Courtney finding something soft that Leona could eat with the few baby teeth she had – Courtney knew Leona, like her mother, could eat a lot. Courtney herself got a burger and saw Beth with some chicken strips.
"No empty tables," Beth said as they looked around the area set up for dining. Beth helped Courtney carry the food, since she was also carrying Leona. "Why doesn't she have a stroller or something?"
"She's not a big fan of her stroller. Maybe we'll see if we can share with someone," Courtney said, seeing Beth was right with no empty tables. "Oh here." Courtney saw Yolanda at a table with Henry Junior. "Hi. Yolanda, right?"
"Oh, hi Courtney," Yolanda smiled.
"Mind if we sit here?" Courtney asked, pointing at the two empty seats. "Everywhere else is full."
"Sure," Yolanda said, and Courtney and Beth took a seat. "You're… Beth, right? From school?" Yolanda added.
"Yes," Beth said.
"Oh, you know each other. We just bumped into each other by the games and started talking," Courtney said as she started giving Leona the food. Once presented with food, Leona dropped the stuffed tiger which landed on top of the diaper bag and started to eat.
"I have never seen a baby that young get so much food in without making a mess." Yolanda said, momentarily watching the child. "And I babysit."
"Well, you don't get between this one and food," Courtney joked. "She takes after her mom with that." Courtney smiled and then realized they wouldn't get it. "Oh. Her mother is a chef."
"That's so interesting," Beth said, the conversation having started as the four chatted for a bit while they ate. Courtney backed off a bit when Beth, Yolanda, and Henry started to talk about school and other things but smiled that they were getting along so well; it reminded her of home, except Henry was in the place of Rick, which weirdly was better as Henry was chattier than her Rick had ever been.
She had to admit to herself, though, that this didn't feel right for her. She was an outsider among friends, and as much as she would have liked to recreate what she'd had, it would be hard now, with these strangers. It was like her mom treating her as a stranger earlier in the diner because she'd never been born on this world and Barbara had taken in Yolanda instead. In a way, it was all kind of painful.
"Well, this looks good," Courtney wasn't sure why the voice surprised her. She should have expected it when Leona seemed to get happier, even with her food gone. Leona always got happier when Rae came about. Courtney suspected it was the Speed Force connection between the two, as Leona didn't behave this way around her other biological mother, Kara.
"Mama!" Leona started to yell.
"There's my baby," Rae said, taking Leona off Courtney's lap. "Sorry I left her with you so long Court. My brothers had this whole thing, and you know they would be lost without me..."
"It's no problem, it was…" Courtney finally looked at the time and realized Rae had been gone all day. "Oh wow, yeah you have been gone really long."
"I'll make it up to you," Rae said with a smile. "Seems you made some friends," she added this more knowingly.
"Yes, this is Yolanda, Henry, and Beth," Courtney said. "This is my – for lack of a better word – adopted mother, Rae."
"You look familiar," Yolanda mused.
"Yeah, you're the pie lady!" Henry added. "The one who threw a pie in the face of a cheating ex a few years ago. I watched that video like a million times."
"Wow, I cannot escape that," Rae said with a chuckle. "Well Court, you're free to stay. I'm going to go get this one home." Rae took the diaper bag and then took the rest of the money out of it, giving it to Courtney. "Have fun."
"Wow, she's like famous," Yolanda said.
"Rae, famous? Nah," Courtney said with a head shake. Of course, Courtney knew Rae was famous, but that was more as the Flash, certainly not as herself.
"No offense, but yeah she is," Henry said. "I mean not in a 'take a selfie with me' or 'I want your autograph' way, but she definitely has some internet fame from a couple of videos – mostly throwing things in people face but her and her stepson or something do some cooking blogs."
"Chris," Courtney said.
"And she also made the menu for the Kryptonian Wildlife Sanctuary," Beth added.
"Okay, so she has a little fame," Courtney admitted. "But I don't know where I would be without her. She's been there for me since I lost everything." Courtney realized that it got dark quickly, so changed the topic. "So, you said something about a concert tonight?" That did the trick as the topic was changed.
….
Later that night, Courtney walked into the house, happy with herself. Rae and Kara were still up and watching a movie.
"Thanks Rae," Courtney said.
"Not a problem," Rae replied, not needing to know more on why Courtney was thanking her. "So, are you going to be going back there often?"
"No," Courtney said with a headshake. "You were right; I needed some closure and talking to them… well, me being a stranger to them was worse than anything. I must accept that my family and friends are dead – there's no recreating what I had – but I've got you all and everyone else in the League now, plus new friends here at school. I am going to focus more on that and forming a new life than grieving my old one."
"Good for you," Rae said as Courtney headed up the stairs. She wanted to hug the girl for making such a big decision but didn't get the chance with Courtney dismissing herself.
"Seems a lot happen today," Kara mused.
"Between going back to the World Forge to create a whole new world and the Courtney stuff, yeah," Rae said
"World Forge?" Kara asked. "What?"
"It's a long story," Rae said kissing Kara. "I'll tell you later."
"Did you hear what happened with Kate and Beth Kane?" Kara asked after a moment, accepting Rae's explanation she would tell Kara later. Rae paused at that.
"Were their bodies finally found?" Rae asked, thinking of the endless hours of looking for them over the years.
"In a way. They're alive," Kara said, and Rae sat up straight at that. "Apparently, they were being held captive by some guy who recently died. They're back and tried to sue to take the Wayne Estate, but the judge gave everything to Helen. Well, almost everything from the sound of it."
"All that time looking for them… all the time… all the guilt he felt. He should have been looking for them alive not dead!" Rae growled, annoyed at all the wasted time now. "And if he had found them, the person who took his cousins would have had hell to pay from Batman. Heck, if he wasn't dead, the Flash right now would do it for the Bat."
Kara put an arm around Rae and brought her closer. "I feel they might be trouble coming though," Kara said.
"There's definitely trouble coming," Rae said with a nod, her mind going back to the warning the Sphere of the Gods gave her of darkness coming, "but I doubt Kate and Beth Kane are it." Rae turned to her wife. It was time to tell her. "Kara… Last year when I went into the Sphere of the Gods, well Aunt Sphere as I call her, she warned about a darkness coming to this world. I have spent the last year waiting and looking for signs, but so far there's been nothing."
"Why didn't you tell me this sooner?" Kara asked, surprised by this.
"Because it's been such a nice year, with just us, Leona, Chris, and Courtney, I didn't want to ruin it," Rae remarked. "But you need to know now because it's got to be coming close. We should tell the rest of the League too, or at least just Sara, our Third. More eyes looking out."
"We'll just tell Sara for now," Kara agreed. "But not tonight..." Rae nodded her agreement as they turned to watch the TV. There was no point putting Sara on alert yet.
-New Justice-
Back in Gotham, the Kane sisters were furious.
"You said we would get, if not everything, then the majority of it," Kate Kane hissed, holding a knife to her lawyer's throat.
"That was before a true heiress was revealed! Nothing I can do about a kid," the lawyer said, sweating, but that didn't seem to please Kate as she cut the man's throat, the lawyer shuddering at the movement as blood poured from his neck, he falling to the floor.
"Now, now Mad Hatter," Mouse said as Kate cleaned the blade on the dead man's jacket. "You could have killed him in a method without so much blood…"
"I like blood," Kate said. "Alice, we're going to need a new lawyer. Or… maybe we should give Mouse his face," she looked back down at the man she'd just killed with a new light.
"Now that I can do," Alice said. "But as long as that baby is in our way, we won't get anywhere with getting the rest of the Wayne Fortune."
"Well, if the baby is the problem, then we need to remove the baby," Kate reasoned. "Mouse, let's go get some skin. Alice needs to make me a face too."
"Seems like I'm going to be busy," Alice smirked at this.
Post Chapter Note: Well then, things are heating up with Alice and Kate. I hope you enjoyed this chapter.
