The Devil's Due
-Mid July-
Rae was setting Leona up with some toys as the door to the Kent House opened fast.
"Oh, what fresh hell is this?" Rae asked, seeing who entered the house: It was Lucifer Morningstar himself. Rae's past with Lucifer was a bit iffy at best, considering the first time they had met he had been blackmailing her using the soul of Constantine, then he had been having a party in Purgatory during Crisis, while the last time Rae had seen him was when she took out the Speed Force energy from a Barry clone and punched Lucifer to release it.
"Not looking for you, Flash. Where is your wife?" Lucifer remarked.
"Me?" Kara asked, coming from upstairs.
"Yes you. If you remember correctly, you owe me a debt," Lucifer said. "I am calling it in."
"Well, that's me out," Rae said, picking up Leona.
"Rae!" Kara protested as Courtney and Chris appeared from the kitchen. "You're leaving?"
"Sweetie, you knew when you made a deal with the Devil, he would one day come to you for payment. You decided saving your aunt was more important than owing the devil one. The devil has asked for his due," Rae explained.
"Thank you, Flash," Lucifer smirked.
"Besides, Donna wants to see me and Caitlin in Watchtower. Court, I'll come train with you after if you want," Rae said, and Courtney gave a nod as Rae summoned her Speed Force outfit and gave Leona her own little Flash outfit to the little girls' enjoyment.
"Run!" Leona yelled as Rae ran out, Clarky going to follow her.
"Now Supergirl," Lucifer said. "Are you going to pay your debt?"
"Let me text someone to say I am not coming in today and change into my outfit. Krypto, you're coming with me," Kara said, and the dog gave a bark as Kara went to get her outfit and put Krypto in his. Coming back a moment later, the two left with the devil. Dragon, the Krypto lookalike dog ran after them as they left, meaning Kara had two Superdogs with her.
"So... the devil?" Courtney asked Chris when everyone was gone.
"Yeah, the real-life devil. Lucifer himself," Chris said. "I'll catch you up."
-New Justice-
Rae came into Watch Tower, Leona on her person, Clarky behind her.
"Wonder Girl, Wild Fire!" Rae called out for Donna and Caitlin.
"Come to the lab," Caitlin's voice called over the coms, and Rae ran with Leona to the little lab set up into Watchtower. Caitlin and Donna were standing there around a table and there was a plant in the middle. It looked a little like a rose.
"So, what's this about?" Rae asked as Leona clapped her hands and Clarky gave a bark.
"Donna brought this back from Themyscira," Caitlin said.
"Actually no, it's not from Themyscira or Herculea; the combined male and female civilization have been searching around the nearby islands and discovered an abandoned one which had fields and fields of this plant growing," Donna said.
"And?" Rae said wanting to know where this was going.
"One of my sisters had a bad injury, it was infected badly, we used this plant and the infection, and the injury healed. She was left with barely even a scar. We believe it has many more healing properties than even we know. Queen Emma and King Jace asked me to bring it to you," Donna said.
"King Jace?" Rae said homing in on that one word. "What happened to Prince?"
"It changed to King when he and Emma wed," Donna explained. "First Amazonian wedding in a very long time. They were going to invite you, but you had been off on another world that day."
"Tell them I'm sorry I missed it," Rae said.
"Rae, the plant?" Caitlin said, bringing the topic back.
"I don't know what you want my opinion on," Rae said, honestly.
"I ran some minor tests on it before you got here and I believe Donna is right. This plant can have great healing abilities," Caitlin said. "From early analysis it could be a cure to most poisons."
"I still don't get why I am here," Rae admitted.
"The lab in Justice Hospital has better equipment, but I don't know what will happen when I start experimenting. I want your permission to use Justice Hospital to start," Caitlin said.
"Oh. Was that all? Go for it," Rae said, still not sure why she was here.
-New Justice-
"Sideways," Tommy said as he landed on the roof, Sideways was on with binoculars. "Anything?"
"They're being just as boring and crazy as ever," Sideways said; since the attack on Helen, one of the team had been on spying on Kate and Beth constantly. Someone had also been watching the kids 24/7. "They have contacted their father and stepmother. That interaction didn't seem to go well. And they are visiting a location where an event for their stepmother's company is taking place tonight."
"Interesting, I'll take watch now," Tommy said.
"Oh, one more thing," Sideways said as he opened a portal. "I swear I heard Kate call her sister Alice instead of Beth."
"Thanks, I…." Tommy stopped Sideways from leaving. "Alice…?"
"Yeah, Alice," Sideways said.
"Like Alice in Wonderland," Tommy mused. "Tea party... like the Mad Hatter."
"What are you thinking?" Sideways asked.
"Something she said to Rae the other day, about a tea party. Now she's calling her sister Alice and we know there's someone called Mouse about." Tommy said.
"You think Kate and Beth are connected to the Wonderland Gang?" Sideways asked his mentor.
"Very possible..." Tommy turned on his com. "Alfred, is it possible Kate and Beth are the part of the Wonderland Gang?"
"Part of the gang? That's an interesting theory," Alfred said. "I can see if we can make a connection."
-New Justice-
Lucifer had brought Kara back to his loft on top of his club, Lux, and went into the story of what had been happening with him lately; Kara sat there petting both Krypto and Dragon as he talked.
"So, let me get this straight. Your daughter from the future has come to this time period and hates you because of your abandonment of her which is supposed to happen tonight?" Kara said.
"Yes," Lucifer said.
"And you abandon her because you die?" Kara asked.
"Apparently so," Lucifer nodded.
"And you want me to do what?" Kara asked.
"Well, it has to be a big force that takes out the Devil," Lucifer said. "And you're the most powerful person who owes me a favor. I want you and your dogs to fight besides me." Krypto and Dragon gave a bark at this.
"You know it's actually kind of sweet you don't want to abandon your daughter, but you don't seem to have any proof you actually die," Kara pointed out.
"Why would I abandon my daughter? Be just like my father," Lucifer said.
"My parents sent me away," Kara voiced. "They did it for my own protection. Maybe there is a reason like that you left," Lucifer paused as if he hadn't considered that. "Look, I know what it's like meeting your future kid – last year my daughter ran back in time with our future son and said son was captured by an enemy. She chose to go to Rae to ask for help saving Ari. She was like a mini-Rae herself."
"How did that make you feel?" Lucifer asked. "Your child choosing your spouse."
"Not exactly bad. The two have a connection I can't understand. I want to be there for her and it's hard when Rae has her all the time – I literally have to ask to have her, and when Rae's away, Leona isn't happy. It's not what a mom wants. But yeah, it wasn't great thinking I wasn't her first choice," Kara said. "But my point being, you don't know if you're dead... or will die. Time travel..."
"You're right. I need to go to the future," Lucifer stated.
"What?" Kara asked.
"I've got to go to the future. Go to Hell or Heaven. See if I am hanging out there and ask my future self," Lucifer smirked, happy with this revelation. "How did your daughter time travel?"
"It's one of the powers of being a speedster and Rae is not taking you," Kara stated, and Krypto barked as if to agree. "But…" Kara wanted out of her debt with Lucifer if there was a way. "Rip Hunter and the Time Masters can time travel. Maybe we can get one of them to take us? I'll need to ask my nerds if we can contact them."
"Let's go to these nerds," Lucifer grinned, and Kara sighed, deciding to take him to Watchtower.
-New Justice-
In Gotham, Sara, Selina and Alfred were talking in the Batcave.
"So, you think Tommy is right?" Sara asked. She and Selina putting Helen and Kathleen in the playpen set up in the Batcave.
"Yes," Alfred said. "They targeted the events protected by the Crows." Alfred reminded the two. "Their father is the one in charge of the Crows. The two have been captured for a long time. That can do a lot to the brain."
"Mad Hatter was good," Sara said. "And the person who came to kill Helen was a good fighter as well. The fighting styles similar."
"Where would she get the training?" Selina asked.
"It's possible they have not been truthful with how long they have been free," Alfred admitted. "Either way, this leads to a problem: Tonight, Hamilton Dynamics is having an event. The CEO of Hamilton Dynamics is Catherine Hamilton-Kane, Jacob's Kane new wife. If Jacob, Catherine, and Catherine's daughter Mary should die…"
"Kate and Beth would be the sole heirs," Selina said. "They failed getting the Wayne Estate, now they have a new target."
"They're making a play for their fathers' money now," Sara said. "Can we warn the event holders?"
"We have no proof. Just suspicion," Alfred admitted. "And no idea exactly how they are going to attack. A warning would do one of two things: Either nothing with people not believing us, or panic. I think that the Crows should have some backup in the form of Black Arrow, Batwoman, and White Canary, though."
"Sideways has a family thing, we could use a fourth," Sara said taking out her communicator. He was always busy with family when they really needed Sideways. "Any Justice League member up for helping us patrol in Gotham tonight?"
It took a moment but then Donna's voice came over the coms. "I'm free," Donna said. "Nisos is here too. Want two Amazonians? Nisos is curious about hero work."
"Perfect," Sara said. "Wonder Girl and Wonder Boy. We'll tell you what's going on when you get here."
"Wonder Boy?" Nicos asked.
"Seems it's not only Rae who gets to name people," Donna laughed on coms.
-New Justice-
Kara, Lucifer and the two Kryptonian dogs entered Watchtower.
"Nerds?" Kara called, but paused when Jess was the only one there. "Nerd, then… you're not the usual one around?"
"Well, the other two have spouses now. Double date," Jess said; there was definitely jealousy in his voice. Kara knew since breaking up with Caitlin the man had not had another relationship, while Caitlin was still going steady with Rafe Stien. Seeing his best friends and his former girlfriend be so serious with other people was difficult. "But whoa, what is he doing here?"
"Hello, to you too Angel," Lucifer smirked as Dragon and Krypto gave a bark.
"We need Rip Hunter," Kara said. "The Waverider was connected to Watchtower once. Can we contact him?"
"No," Jess said and noticed the looks. "But I might have another way. The Waverider had a MIA on board, right?" He referenced their A.I. system, MIA.
"Yes, it was before we met you, so we didn't know her name, but it was definitely the same voice you use for MIA," Kara said knowing the voice for Karry Universe's Gideon was a bit different and so was voice on Prime A.I., MAVIS, or Vis as they called her these days.
"I've got an idea," Jess said, turning to the computer. "All MIAs have a root programming I made. I can edit it. If the Waverider's MIA is based on my original programming, I should be able to set a command to come to this date at this time and this location." Jess was typing as he explained. "And sending the program... now."
After Jess pushed the last button, it was mere moments later when this Watchtower MIA confirmed the Waverider had shown up and then Rip Hunter was on the screen.
"What am I doing here?" Rip asked. "Supergirl... Lucifer?!"
"We need your help. Can we come on board?" Kara asked.
"Urgh, fine," Rip Hunter said, and suddenly the zap tunnel turned on. "Your zap tunnel will bring you to us."
Kara, Lucifer, and the two dogs went through the zap tunnel at this, and were on board the Waverider, in the control room. They were standing on circles that were glowing the same color as zap tunnels usually make.
"That's different," Kara said moving off the circle, having gone from the Zap Tunnel to this new circle like it was a tunnel.
"In the coming years Raphael Stein will be advancing the zap tunnel technology so you don't need large devices anymore," Rip said. "He will also figure out eventually how to make a system completely disconnected from the Justice League's system. Both he and the League will profit from it. Now why have you hijacked my MIA?"
"I owe Lucifer here a debt and he wants to go to the future," Kara explained, "to find out why he has abandoned his daughter. Or will abandon his daughter... time travel."
"Absolutely n–!" but before Rip could say a word, the engines started. "MIA, what are you doing?!"
"Going to the future," MIA said.
"You're welcome," Jess's voice, who was still on the screen, said – the communication still being active before it cut off, when MIA went into the time vortex.
"Your nerd is good," Lucifer said with a nod.
"I have brought us 16 years into the future," MIA's voice said as they came out of the time vortex and landed on a roof. The ship instantly cloaked itself. "I will bring you back to your time when you are done."
"No, this… ugh, fine go, but only talk," Rip warned. "And I am going to figure out how to block Jess Morgan from doing that again."
"That will be impossible, Rip," MIA stated, Rip groaning at the A.I. listening to him.
"I will be back soon," Lucifer smirked at Rip, summoning his wings and leaving the ship.
"Leona would be 17..." Kara mumbled. She had been 15 the last time she had seen the adult Leona. "Ari would be 12 and the youngest, 7 – if the timing is as direct as Rae says it will be," Kara bit her lip. "Krypto, Dragon, let's go." With that the two dogs and on Kryptonian left as well.
"Am I just the chauffer?" Rip sighed, to himself now.
"Actually, I am, you were just here for the ride," MIA spoke up, an almost smugness in her voice. Rip ignored the A.I. with this.
-New Justice-
Back in the present, Nisos and Donna had gone to Gotham.
"So, we're watching out for this Wonderland Gang to attack?" Nisos asked; he was in his armor which was like Donna's own Amazonian armor, only more suited to the male body than the female. "What types of powers will they have?"
"The Wonderland Gang is a human gang. We might find some meta humans among their numbers with powers, but we won't know until they make themselves known," Donna explained to her boyfriend.
"The bigger issues are Mad Hatter or as we believe is Kate Kane," Sara's voice spoke in their ears through the coms. "Her fighting style is good, and we know Mouse himself – whoever he is – also has some training. We haven't bumped into Alice, who we believe is Beth Kane, in the field yet, so we are unaware if she's a fighter or just the mastermind."
"What's the plan for when they arrive, White Canary?" Donna asked. Sara was third in charge of the League after all, meaning she was in charge right now.
"You and Wonder Boy are more equipped to handle a large number of enemies who might have unknown powers on their side," Sara explained. "The two of you will go after the Rabbit Thugs. Black Arrow, Batwoman, and I will take on the three leaders. If only Mad Hatter and Mouse shows up then Black Arrow can be free to help you."
"Shall we go for the kill?" Nisos asked.
"That's a negative, Wonder Boy," Sara said. "We do not kill unless we absolutely have to."
"Weird handicap to put on us when the other side would aim to kill," Nisos pointed out.
"It's about being the good guys against the evil guys," Donna reminded her boyfriend. "We have morals. We'll kill if we have to, but if we don't, we aim for a capture. We also put protecting the innocent over capturing anyone."
"Okay, I got it," Nisos said with a nod, but Donna could tell it was unusual for him – it wasnt the way of the Amazonians, she knew but he would adjust like she did and Diana had before them.
"Don't worry, you get used to it," Donna said. "I'll train you."
-New Justice-
In the future, Lucifer had flown down to the version of hell he ruled over. Walking the halls and the chambers, it seemed somehow different than the hell in his time.
"Hello handsome," a familiar voice said, and Lucifer turned to see himself standing in one of the chambers.
"Oh no. So, we really did abandon Rory," Lucifer sighed to his future self.
"It's more complicated than you think," the future Lucifer said. "Come in. I'll explain." regretting the time traveling already, Lucifer walked into the room to see it was a copy of Linda's psychiatry office. "Sit." Lucifer sat waiting for an explanation.
…
Kara, Krypto, and Dragon were flying. She had asked the dogs to locate Leona, knowing her scent, and soon Kara saw her. The teenage Leona was in a bikini on a beach – there were three other girls with her, all blonde, clearly sun tanning. A wave came up a little too high and Kara noticed there was a man in the wave – a bit older than them, with blonde hair.
"Arthur!" Leona yelled as more water came up and she shared a look with some of the girls. Suddenly the three of them let out freezing breath, freezing the water Arthur was throwing at them and part of the ocean around him. Kara realized this was the son of Arthur, adopted by Laurel. Arthur Jnr was a young man now, Kara thinking he had to be 25 or 26 at this point.
"Hey!" Arthur yelled, trying to move but was frozen.
"You messed with us. Be prepared for us to mess with you," Leona said.
"Okay, okay, let me go," Arthur called. Leona turned to the girl who hadn't released freeze breath, but Kara who had to smile at the interaction, decided to free the man herself., letting out a heat vision to melt the ice, the two dogs following her lead. Arthur was free in a matter of seconds.
Kara landed on the beach with the dogs. Leona seemed to be scared for a moment, as if she was going to get in trouble, but then realized who she was looking at and seemed shocked.
"Young. What year are you from?" Leona asked.
"2022," Kara said.
"Wow," one of the blondes said.
"Who are they?" Kara asked of the other girls; they felt familiar to her, and they were clearly Kryptonian, or at least part Kryptonian.
"Skye, Alura, and Nora," Leona said. Kara blinked. She hadn't been expecting to see Prime's eldest daughter and the Karry twins.
"Time travel. Dad doesn't care for it," Alura said for Nora to give her a bit of a push.
"What are you doing here?" Skye asked.
"I owe Lucifer a debt in my time... it's a long story," Kara said.
"So, you just come to say hi," it was Arthur coming out of the waves.
"I want to talk to Leona," Kara said, and Leona moved over to talk to her mother as Krpyo and Dragon started playing with the three half Kryptonians and Atlantean. Kara knew the others could overhear their conversation if they wanted to, but knew they wouldn't out of respect.
"Really, not much point going further. Nora can hear no matter where we are," Leona confirmed. "But Krypto and Dragon are keeping them busy." Leona gave a smile. "So, what's up?"
"Do you remember when Ari ran to the past and got captured by Thawne and Jax-Ur?" Kara asked.
"Yeah, a couple of years ago. Well, a year for you, I think," Leona said.
"Why did you go to Rae for help?" Kara asked.
"It seemed like the thing to do. Ask for help," Leona said.
"I mean why Rae and not… well, me?" Kara asked.
"Oh," Leona paused, getting what her mother was asking her. "I always go to ma," that wasn't what Kara wanted to hear and her heart sunk at the revelation. "It's just sometimes easier with her. She fast and she gets things more – especially when it's considered hero work, and, well I'm more a speedster than a Kryptonian at times," Leona must have noticed to look on Kara's face. "Hey, but I love you too. You're a great mother. If I need cash or boy advice, it's definitely you that I go to."
"That's good to hear," Kara said, still a little sadly, thinking being the one to go to for relationships was something, at least.
"If it helps, Dov is a total mama's boy for you," Leona stated, and Kara raised an eyebrow. "My youngest brother; I guess it helps he's yours and Uncle Mon's biologically so he's like almost a complete Kryptonian. I mean he can even fly a bit. Ari is half and half. He has more Kryptonian powers, well actually Daxamite since his Mon's son, than me but slower in speed. It's why I was so shocked when he accidentally time traveled… and I am telling you too much."
"You are, but it definitely what I wanted to hear," Kara said giving a smile and bringing Leona into a hug.
"I suppose this might be a spoiler too, but it's the Speed Force that connects me and ma more than you and me," Leona added. "Even with your best efforts it's just... closer for me and ma."
"Okay," Kara nodded, not sure how to respond to this, but their attention got turned to a mini tornado back on the beach which Arthur was now inside. Nora and Alura laughing as Krypto and Dragon were taking the poor boy out.
"Do you always bully Arthur?" Kara now asked her daughter.
"No... Nora, Alura!" Leona now yelled.
"They are called the Tornado Twins," Skye called back at this, Kara and Leona moving back to them now.
"Boy wants to be a King. He should learn not to tease those more powerful than him," Alura said with a smirk.
"Hey, you're a poet and you didn't know it," Nora added to her sister's sudden rhyme, causing the pair to laugh.
"And I am King!" Arthur yelled back. "I just need to complete the re-taking of my throne."
"Don't make me tell Uncle Barry and Aunt Kara on you," Leona said, ignoring Arthur.
"Oh, you never would," Nora said.
"It's nice to see you four are so close," Kara said.
"You don't know the half of it," the four said together.
"Well... I've got to go," Kara said, kissing Leona's cheek and calling the dogs to her and they took off.
"2020's New Justice mom... that was interesting," Skye stated to Leona, who nodded to her alternate sister.
-New Justice-
In the present, Tommy was overlooking the Hamilton Dynamics event.
"Speeches should be underway," Tommy said into the coms; they were positioned on four adjoining buildings to where the event was taking place. The group were keeping an eye out for the arrival of the Wonderland Gang.
"I hear something," Donna said. "Something's wrong inside."
Tommy could tell Donna was right because the Crows had started reacting. The three vigilantes and two Amazonians were fast in getting down, and once they were at the door ayoung Asian-looking woman came out to them – she didn't look well.
"They've been poisoned!" One of the Crows called.
"I'm going to get her to Wild Fire," Donna said, picking up the woman and running for a zap tunnel.
"What happened?" Nisos asked as he stepped into the large room. Sara and Selina were checking over people to see if anyone else was alive and could be rushed to get saved. Tommy was on stage now with a dark woman checking the speakers.
"The champaign," the woman said.
"Who are you?" Tommy asked.
"Agent Sophie Moore," Sophie said. "I'm second… well I guess now in charge of the Crows..." Tommy eyes went to where Jacob was sitting in the front row, slouched over, already dead.
"There's no one else here alive," Sara said, using a scanner Alfred had built into her mask – the only living signs were the four of them and the Crows who had not drunk anything.
"Mary must have not drunk her whole glass," Sophie theorized.
"That was Mary Hamilton?" Selina asked, pointing back to the entrance where the young Asian woman had left with Donna, and Sophie gave a nod. "Wonder Boy, take the champaign and get it to Wild Fire. Go to Justice Hospital. Got it?"
"Yes, ma'am," Nisos said, taking the bottle Selina gave her.
"And don't drink any of it!" Sara yelled after him, hearing another 'yes' before he ran off.
"Since when do you have a Wonder Boy?" Sophie asked.
"Wonder Girl's boyfriend," Sara answered.
"Okay," Sophie nodded, going with the flow.
"Agent Moore, we contacted the police. They are on their way," a Crow guard said.
"You should go. I'll handle this," Sophie said to the three vigilantes who gave a nod and left; all three wanting to get to Justice Hospital.
"That was not what we were expecting," Selina said.
"Not at all," Sara agreed with a sigh.
…
Caitlin was shocked when Donna came into Justice Hospital with a young, now unconscious woman, putting her on a bed. Caitlin had spent the entire day looking over the plant the Amazonians had found; Rafe had also come to the hospital after work to keep her company.
"She's been poisoned," Donna said of the young woman.
"With what?" Caitlin asked but Donna didn't have the answer. "I need to know the poison to give an antidote," Caitlin explained – poisons were one of the things Caitlin had stocked Justice Hospital for. Most of the antidotes she had were for poisons from animals, like spiders or snakes, thinking there could be a meta that uses those type of poisons.
"What about the plant?" Donna asked. "It's a miracle cure, you said so yourself."
"It's not tested yet. It could just as easily kill her," Caitlin said.
"She'll die if you don't," Donna reasoned.
"Caitlin, you can do this," Rafe spoke, putting a hand on Caitlin's shoulder, who nodded and grabbed a vial. She had made the plant into a liquid form to test it on rats, but now she put it in a needle and went over to the woman. She took a breath as she found where to inject her and then put the medicine in.
The three looked at her for a moment as Caitlin connected their advanced scanners to her.
"Her readings are returning to normal," Caitlin said after a moment. "It worked!"
"I've got the poison," a new voice spoke, and Nisos came in. "It's in this drink..."
"I'll start analyzing it," Caitlin said, taking the bottle.
"Will she live?" Nisos asked.
"She will now," Donna said with a nod.
-New Justice-
Rip Hunter dropped Kara, Lucifer and the dogs off at Lucifer's loft before leaving. Lucifer had been quiet on the short journey, keeping his future adventure to himself.
"Well, are we…?" Kara started but stopped when they walked in Detective Chloe Dekker, waiting.
The detective ignored the superhero and her dogs and instead went right to Lucifer. "Lucifer, it's Rory," Chloe said.
"Yes, I just got back from the future, and I know now," Lucifer said.
"No, Lucifer, he's got Rory," Chloe said holding up her phone and playing a voice message: a man was claiming to have taken their daughter and would kill her if Lucifer didn't come to a certain place at a certain time.
"Need a hand?" Kara offered, only having offered to make sure her debt to Lucifer was paid, but now she found herself offering more help.
"Yes, Supergirl I could use you and your dogs," Lucifer said, a look in his eyes.
"Superdog, Dragon, let's go save the Devils' daughter," Kara said.
-New Justice-
"What the hell?" Rae asked coming in to Justice Hospital with little Leona and Courtney.
"Hell," Leona copied her mother.
"Yeah, I have said that too much today..." Rae muttered, giving Leona to Courtney who took the girl happily. "Maybe should have left you with my grandparents," Rae said in a baby voice to the baby.
Courtney, and Leona had been at Emily and Richard's house; Courtney had loved Emily and Richard the minute she had met them a year ago, as having loving grandparents was something Courtney never had on her own world with both sets being dead before she was born. Emily and Richard had obviously taken in Courtney as their own granddaughter, although technically great granddaughter, given Rae was Courtney's adopted mom, despite only being about 15 years older than Courtney now. Rae had cooked an amazing meal for her grandparents and their friends before getting the call to come to Justice Hospital.
"Want the bad news, the worst news, or the good news?" Sara asked.
"Just lay it on me," Rae sighed.
"Jacob Kane and Catherine Hamilton-Kane are dead. We failed in stopping them. We didn't expect poison," Sara said.
"And I have no idea what type of poison this is," Caitlin added. "I've never seen anything like it before. As far as I can tell, it's fast acting and extremely deadly. The majority of people who drank it were dead within minutes according to Sara, Tommy, and Selina."
"I'm guessing the good news involves the person laying in the bed?" Rae said, looking at the unfamiliar young Asian woman.
"Mary Hamilton, daughter to Catherine Hamilton and adopted daughter of Jacob Kane," Sara said.
"She's alive, meaning Kate and Beth are not their sole heirs," Selina added.
"That's good, but how is she not dead?" Rae asked.
"The plant," Caitlin said. "The one from this morning the Amaoznians gave us. I took a chance. Well, Donna and Rafe deserve some credit for convincing me to take a chance. It cured her and from what I can tell, it's staying in her blood, meaning I doubt she can be poisoned with this again. I don't know if there will be any other side effects though."
"Well, when she wakes up fill her in on everything and get her back to Gotham," Rae said, knowing Mary was the one thing standing in the way of Kate and Beth getting a lot of money and power right now. "Wonder Girl take Nisos…"
"Everyone been calling me Wonder Boy," Nisos said.
"Nice name. Okay, Wonder Girl, Wonder Boy, go to Queen Emma and King Jace. Ask if the Amazonians would be willing to set up base on that island where they found the plant and start growing and harvesting more. Something tells me we might need it," Rae said.
"On it," Donna said, taking Nisos's hand and the two ran off.
"Who gave Nisos a superhero name?" Rae asked.
"That was me," Sara said.
"Like I said, I like. Well, I guess we have another trainee," Rae said, giving Courtney a smile. "Let's head back to the Sanctuary." Courtney gave a nod as they went out; Sara, Tommy, and Selina also excused themselves.
"I got to stay here and monitor her and fill her in when she wakes up," Caitlin said to Rafe.
"I can wait with you," Rafe said with a smile.
-New Justice-
Kara, Dragon, Krypto, Lucifer, and Chloe had rushed in to save Rory. The kidnappers had not expected the superheroes, while the blades from Rory wings did work on Kara, but her heat vision also melted them. The Kryptonian managing to capture the main kidnapper, an escaped prisoner, while Lucifer and Chloe freed their daughter.
After dropping the kidnappers and everyone who had followed him off with the police, Kara went back to Lucifer's loft where Lucifer was explaining what he learned in the future.
"Because you came back now, I can't stay. It would endanger too many lives causing a paradox if you never time traveled," Lucifer explained to Rory. "So, I am going to go back to hell and help those who do not deserve to be there move on."
"I understand now," Rory said. "If you stay, I change."
"A causal loop paradox," Kara voiced, eyes going to her. "If you don't leave now, what caused you to find the truth today wouldn't happen at all, meaning you have to make sure everything happens the way it does. We had the same with Savitar."
"That's a lot to take in," Chloe said.
"Well, when you get back come to hell and be with your old man," Lucifer said to his adult daughter, "we have forever."
"We do," Rory said, and then started to glow. "I'll see you soon." And with that, she was gone.
"Well, this is touching and all and my wife will be very happy to know you're gone, but I just want to make sure…" Kara said.
"Your debt is repaid Supergirl," Lucifer said.
"Thank you," Kara said, deciding to leave now before anything else was mentioned, plus she wanted to give Lucifer and Chloe their last moments together as she went to the balcony and flew off.
-New Justice-
A few minutes later, Kara and the two dogs arrived back at the Sanctuary.
"Well that took a long time," Rae said when Kara came in, Kara finding this ironic given her adventure involved time travel. "What did the devil want?"
"Well, first to go to the future to figure out why he abandoned his daughter and then he needed help saving his daughter," Kara said. "I got some good news and some news that could be good or bad depending on your definition."
"Okay," Rae said, petting Clarky, waiting for more.
"Lucifer is returning to hell," Kara said.
"Hallelujah," Rae said. "I'll throw the going away party."
"But he has a daughter," Kara added.
"That's the bad news?" Rae asked.
"You havent met her. Come to think of it, I'm not sure I did. It was a weird time travel thing," Kara dismissed. "How was your day?"
"Well, it seems Kate and Beth Kane are in charge of the Wonderland Gang," Rae said, "and poisoned their father and stepmother to get their money and companies, but we managed to save their stepsister."
"Makes you wish they had died in that car accident," Kara sighed.
"Yeah. But hey, this isn't my problem – seems it's more in Sara's ballpark," Rae stated.
"Sounds like a dramatic day," Kara mused, and Rae nodded. "I... I saw Leona today."
"Yeah, I am pretty sure we see Leona every day," Rae said, confused.
"No, I mean future Leona," Kara said. "And Nora, Alura, and Skye."
Rae paused for a moment. "Tell me everything."
Post Chapter Note: Well, I hope you enjoyed this. It was fun touching upon Lucifer again, having Kara pay back her debt to help Rory. I hope you liked the Gotham plot too – like I said last week, I'm not really feeling it so it's a minimal plot until its conclusion soon.
Lucifer Footnote: Obviously I tried to make it close to the TV show, but some of the things about the TV show just don't work when inside the Millma Verse, such as the mother and father going to an alternate universe to build a new world. So instead of leaving and needing to make a new God the two went to a different area in this universe and asked Amenadiel to watch Heaven. So, no fight, no Lucifer almost becoming god. Obviously, Rory came back and I did a sort of the TV show with her. Sigma hasn't watched the final season of Lucifer so couldn't help with editing that segment.
