Gaines continues to try and evade detection. Why Dimitri suddenly doesn't trust him he doesn't know. Maybe he's just gotten more paranoid after Walker. Whatever the reason Gaines knows his only chance to survive is to turn state's evidence. The main question is, who can he safely turn himself in with?

Jack and Tony continue waiting in the park. They want their tail to think they expect Gaines to show up, but at a certain point they'll be expected to just give up and leave.

Kimberly sits in the hospital lobby, anxiously waiting for news about Jamal. The doctors said he will most likely be okay, but the next few hours will be critical. Kim also tries to work up the courage to call Jamal's mother. Most likely the hospital would have called her by now. Jamal's mother was still christian, and she wasn't thrilled about her son's conversion to Islam, or about him marrying Kim. Finally Kim works up the courage to call Mary. She doesn't sound thrilled about her daughter in law calling.

Mary: What is it Kim?
Kim: It's Jamal, he's been hurt.
Mary: Is he okay?
Kim: He's in the hospital. The doctors say he'll probably be okay, but the next few hours are critical.
Mary: What hospital, I'm coming.

President Keaton considers his options regarding Afghanistan. If president Daoud was involved in the earlier attacks, or turned a blind eye to his own vice-president's actions, could he really complete the withdrawel? Could he let them remain in power? Then again the occupation had lasted nearly 20 years, and the original goals hadn't been completely achieved. Would staying another 20 years make things better. This, combined with the possibility of being dragged into a war between Russia and Ukraine, could America even fight wars on two fronts again? As Keaton was contemplating all of this he was informed that Chloe OBrien was calling, she apparently had important intel. Keaton knew Chloe's reputation, she was probably the best hacker in the world, but she wasn't always reliable. Nevertheless the president decided to take this call.

Keaton: Yes Mrs OBrien?
Chloe: Mr president, I've been working with Jack Bauer to try and find out if there is a mole within CTU.
Keaton: My understanding is that George Mason has already been taken into custody.
Chloe: Mason's innocent, well innocent of treason anyway. Ryan Chapelle set him up.
Keaton: You have proof of this?
Chloe: Yes, Chapelle sent an encrypted message to Dimitri Utkin, founder of the Wagner mercenary group. It told him that Ira Gaines was turning state's evidence and needed to be eliminated.
Keaton: Send it to me, I want to see it for myself.

Chloe sent president Keaton this encrypted text, and proof it was sent by Chapelle.
