Rebecca Allen continues speaking with Templeton. He's not talking about being blackmailed, or his past association with the KKK. But Templeton does let one thing slip. He makes a comment about the new president's "questionable" association with Dave. Rebecca recognizes the name, and wonders what Dave might know about her brother's death.

At CTU Ryan Chapelle receives a text. An old friend warns him he needs to get a lawyer. This friend doesn't specifically mention that he is about to be arrested, but then Chapelle is informed that Alberta Greene is now here with several guards. Chapelle knows he is about to be arrested, all that remains is for him to try and negotiate immunity for himself.

Jamal's mother arrives at the hospital. She is understandably upset.

Mary: What happened?
Kim: We were trying to help CTU stop a terrorist attack. There was an explosion, and Jamal was injured.
Mary: You were trying to stop a terrorist attack?
Kim: We both were.
Mary: Didn't you used to be a terrorist?
Kim: That was a long time ago. I want to make up for my past.
Mary: When was he injured?
Kim: Almost three hours ago?
Mary: And you didn't think to tell me?
Kim: I thought the hospital would have called you.
Mary: And that I wouldn't be here? I was at work when you called. My boss, he can be a real jerk sometimes. But when I told him my son was on the hospital, he said "Go to him." He understood that my son is my son. Yet somehow my daughter in law doesn't think to tell me my son was nearly blown up.
Kim: I'm sorry.
Mary: You should be.

Split screens show Mary continuing to be angry at Kim, Chapelle trying to negotiate immunity for himself, George Mason being released and taken to Medical, Rebecca trying to remember who president Keaton's friend Dave is, the president contemplating possibilities, Jack and Tony leaving the park.

Jack receives an unexpected call, from Ira Gaines.

Gaines: Jack Bauer?
Jack: Yes. Who is this?
Gaines: Ira Gaines. I believe your people are looking for me?
Jack: If you turn yourself in...
Gaines: I will, but only to you.
Jack: Why me?
Gaines: I know your file. You're good to your word and you don't give a damn about protocol. I need your protection, from your own people.
Jack: What do you have to trade?
Gaines: I can tell you what comes next, how to stop the next attack. I can tell you who is the mastermind behind the attacks, and what their next agenda is.
Jack: Fine, where do you want to meet.

Jack knew the irony of the situation. They had exposed Chapelle's treason by making his side believe that Gaines was turning state's evidence. Now Gaines was doing it for real. But Jack and Tony's tail was still watching them, they had to lose them all over again.
