Hi, everyone!

I would like to thank the comment from Red Ethel Flint; It made me very happy to read.

i hope you enjoy!

She walked listlessly along the stone sidewalk. Her legs hurt, but she didn't care; nothing mattered anyway.

she put her hands in the pocket of her sweatshirt shorts, feeling the light drizzle that gently dripped onto her. Amy sat on the rust bench at the bus stop, appreciating, for the first time, the quiet on the street, despite it reminding her of everything that had happened, her state of misery and responsibility, silence always did her good.

Unaware of what she was doing, her eyes swept the street in search of someone in particular. This was one of her greatest life lessons: to be selective about whom she allowed to get close to and become part of her circle of friends. And to realize that it had taken far too long to repair something as important as that.

Her arms hugged her belly, as if protecting it. The hedgehog sighed deeply, lost in her own story. Desolate. Embittered. Distressed.

There was no one who could help her, understand her, much less anyone with whom she could let it all out. It was too dangerous.

Amy knew him well enough to know he didn't bluff. When he said something, it was dangerous to disobey, especially in the position she was in, about to immerse herself in suffering, using herself as a shield for them, so that another bad thing wouldn't happen because of her.

But thinking about it, if instead of accepting his proposal, she herself put an end to her useless existence, why not?

It's an idea worth considering.

A black car with tinted windows approached her, stopping right in front of her at the bus stop. Amy's hair stood up to the tips of her little fingers in fear. Why on earth would a car stop at a bus stop?

The window rolled down, and from there she could see a familiar figure.

"Ames? What are you doing here alone?"

She sighed in pure relief.

"Are you crazy or what's your problem?!" she asked, annoyed

"Wow, what a beautiful greeting."

"Clear! What did you expect after stopping the car right in front of me like a person with bad intentions?!"

"Oh, forgive me. But anyway, you didn't answer my question."

"And I don't even need to do it."

The cerulean hedgehog looked at the deserted street, then at her.

"I won't leave you alone here, much less with those shorts."

Amy frowned; the shorts she was wearing weren't even short - they reached about a foot and a half above her knees.

"Oh no? And what do you intend to do?"

"Ames."

"You didn't answer my question, Sonic the Hedgehog" she repeated the sentence he had previously said. "I'm curious to see what you'll do if I don't want to get in your car."

Sonic got out of the car and closed the door behind him. He approached Amy, who had crossed her arms in a defensive posture.

"You won't avoid me forever" he began. "And you didn't answer me either, so we're even."

"Seriously, Sonic, leave me alone."

"Ames, get in the car; the rain is getting heavier, and we need to talk."

"I'm not going with you. I'm waiting for the bus."

"You never liked taking the bus."

"So what?"

The boy blinked a few times, observing her.

"You left me with no choice."

She looked at him with a mix of curiosity and confusion. Then he reached down and reached under her knees, lifting her up.

Amy looked at him scared; her breathing quickened, and she felt angry all over again as she recalled what he had said to her.

Suddenly, the scenario had changed and she was back to that night, where tears ran down her now pale and lifeless face, as he carried her against her will. A throbbing pain ran up her legs, towards her once again shattered heart. Her world was in shambles, and nothing could cleanse it.

"Ames?"

Amy came back to reality when she heard Sonic's voice. Her eyes widened in fear, and her hands shook slightly.

"Are you alright?"

"...I am," she said, looking away. "Of course I am."

"You and your habit of telling me you're fine when you clearly aren't."

"Leave me alone, Sonic, please."

"Not until you tell me what's happening" he specified, contemplating her reaction.

For a moment, her mask of well-being faltered, and her eyes revealed a fear so deep, the likes of which he had never seen in her since they had met in elementary school. He sighed imperceptibly as he maneuvered the car into motion.

Previously, he had met Cream by chance and had taken the opportunity to ask her about Amy. The rabbit informed him of her condition and how worried she was about her friend; she even commented that she was going to have an appointment this morning, but she hadn't said where or at what time it would be, so finding her was pure luck.

"Where is your appointment? Are you still going?"

"...to be honest, I don't know."

They remained silent for a long time. Outside the vehicle, the rain poured torrentially, and the drops ran quickly down the windows.

"...I'm sorry for what I said. I didn't think straight and now I see that I couldn't have been more wrong" he finally broke the silence. "You certainly wouldn't cheat on me, I realize that something must have happened, but I really don't know what it is, nor why you don't want to tell us."

She laughed, completely humorless.

"Clear. Because we don't have anything official, right? How exactly would I cheat on you?" she said, throwing her face in the palm of her own hand, turning it to observe what was happening outside the car.

"You know very well that I was planning to ask for your hand. Not just to you, but to your uncles, grandparents, or whomever else might need it."

"Do I know?"

"Yes, you know. See, what I said was a mistake; I apologize for implying that I don't trust you. I know you know that's not true. I just... I was caught off guard."

"And wasn't I?" She turned to him, finally acknowledging his presence. "How do you think I feel, Sonic? How do you think I felt?!"

He remained silent, offering no response, as he watched her wipe away the tears that unwillingly ran down her face.

"How am I supposed to date someone who doesn't trust me? That was the only option you could think of?" she snorted.

"You're absolutely right. I was a total idiot, but... is there anything I can do to make things better?"

There was a long pause. In the meantime, Amy allowed herself to look Sonic in the eyes. Then he noticed. Again the empty look. As if she were dead inside, hollow, empty. Her eyes filled, and a tear or two stubbornly ran down her tired face.

"There are so many things you don't know, Sonic. I wish you knew; maybe then you would understand me. But I cannot."

"Why not?"

She didn't answer him.

"The hospital is Newborn's Hospital. I'm already late; will you take me there, or do I need to wait for the bus again?"

Sonic nodded and slowly started driving.

"Have you had breakfast yet?"

"Yea."

As if on cue, her stomach growled loudly, betraying her.

"It doesn't seem like much. If it doesn't bother you, we're going to make a stop to eat."

She shrugged, not paying much attention. Tears streamed heavily down her face, and all she could do to prevent Sonic from noticing was to turn her face away and continue to look out the window.

But he noticed.

Both were lost. She was lost about everything, and he was lost about what to do to redeem himself. In fact, it was a hopeless situation.

And only a miracle could save them.
