Chapter six:

The man chuckles and makes the pistol spin around on his finger so that the handle is facing Near causing Mello to pause then duck back down. "There you are." He mentions and Near blinks in confusion before taking the weapon then he is handed a folder like confidential papers are inside. "The mission will be fully explained in there. Once it is complete send the message and meet at the meeting spot. You will be pleasantly surprised what the boss has in store if you complete this task. Everything has already been set into motion for you. All you need to do is carry out the deed. We'll see just how far you truly are willing to go for those siblings of yours. I will see you again when it is all done." He chuckles almost sounding like evil laughter before leaving.

Near pauses looking to what he had just been given. He finally turns away hiding the gun in his pants waistband. He heads back with Mello staying hidden though following.

The two of them regroup once inside of Mellos room in the orphanage.

"What is it that they want you to do?" Mello questions quietly not wanting to alert anyone that they are in here.

"Let us find out." Near mentions and he opens the classified like documents to which the two of them go over what is written on there.

Noth of their eyes widen at realizing just what the gun is supposed to be used for in order to do what these evil people want done.

"They can't be serious." Mello breathes out and Near steels his emotions.

"They are. It is the kind of people that they are." Near informs Mello who looks to him worried.

"So… What are you going to do? Surely you can't think about actually going through with this."

Near glances down trying to think of what he can do about this situation he has been put in.

… In Matt's room…

He finally gets into the system and quietly cheers to himself. "I did it! I'm in." He starts looking over some files then notices a file labeled N's final mission. He clicks on it and looks over the word document only for his eyes to widen. "I have to warn them!" He gets up only for his phone to notify him of a message. He checks it knowing that it is those he had just hacked.

We have a job for you. Go into L's computer and get him to come to the orphanage.

Matt swallows harshly and asks why only to be told to not worry about it. He shakes it off telling them that he'll do it though he doesn't understand why. He knows it's a lie. He hurries out of the room and goes to see if Mello is back from going with Near. He finds the two in the blonde's room with tension in the air.

The two look to the red head as he enters the room.

"Guys!" Matt blinks worriedly at them. "They want Near to kill L!"

"We know." Mello mentions waving the paper in Matt's direction. "And I also think that they're going to finally release Near's siblings though probably will keep this over Near's head to keep him quiet. That is if he goes through with it."

Matt swallows and looks away. "Actually. There is a secret plan that they have. They'll bring Near to their HQ and they will kill him as well as his siblings. I saw that plan on their computer. They just want Near to be there to see the demise of his siblings." He sees Near's steeled emotions break free a little to show worried shock before he gets them back under control. "So… What do we do? We'll have to think of something. Tonight they want me to make L come to the orphanage."

Mello glances away trying to figure out a plan.

Near blinks as if a thought has occurred to him. "I think I might have an idea. It is risky however it will probably be our only shot." He mentions with the other two ready to listen to what he has to say. "However this is going to involve someone else."

"L?" Matt questions only for Near to shake his head.

"Someone else." Near tells them and the other two glance to each other wondering who he means. "L will be involved once we have gotten a way for these guys to be arrested. However we will need to get to that point. And I think that there is only one person who can help us with this. Matt." He locks eyes with the red head. "Fake a way of making L come here. Make it seem like it is L that you tricked." He then glances to the blonde. "Mello. Tomorrow after classes you and me will be heading out." He tells the other who tilts his head curiously. "It is about time I go to make another visit to an old friend of mine."

The other two in the room let their eyes widen.

"You don't mean…" Matt stops himself there not actually sure that he can say that name.

"Near. You can't be serious. This isn't going to end well. He's in that criminal insane asylum for a reason." Mello points out truly unsure about where Near is taking this. "Surely we could just get L involved and-" He doesn't get to finish as Near speaks up.

"Mello. You'll have to trust me on this plan. He may not listen well to others but he will listen to me. He is not as insane as you might think. You don't know him like I do. What he went through before he did what he had done. I know that others talk about it only known some details. I know the full extent of it. I don't condone his actions however I can understand his hurt over what had happened to him. He will help us. And it will be our ticket to getting me into their HQ so we can contact L to send help so these people can be arrested."

Mello and Matt glance to each other as they silently debate whether or not to go through with Near's plan on this.

It sounds crazy and way too risky to actually be able to work… Could it?

Mello closes his eyes letting out a breath and turns back to Near opening his eyes halfway. He speaks up while Matt continues to stare at him. "Alright Near. We'll do it. I guess I should say that we'll try it out. I still have my doubts that it will work however we don't have much time to figure out another plan. So this had better work."

"It will." Near promises and smiles to them. "Thank you for trusting me in this. I will see you tomorrow." He heads off to his room leaving the two standing there in Mello's room.

"Are you going to tell him?" Matt questions causing Mello to turn to blink at the other. "Come on Mels. I know you. I can see it. You do know that this could go very wrong very quickly. You have to tell him before it may be too late."

Mello closes his eyes and shakes his head. "No. Not yet." He pushes Matt out of his room with half open eyes. "Now go and get that fake part ready to trick those guys into thinking that L is coming. Goodnight Matt." He closes the door and Matt stares at it sadly.

"I hope nothing goes wrong in this plan then." Matt mumbles before heading to his room to get his side of the work started.
