Happy Halloween to you the audience.

This next one is vampires as a team of rangers... even if it's not obvious.

Premise: The third anniversary of the day Unity Tori left everyone and everything she ever knew about to travel the country has snuck up on her, ever the pet peeve of hers, but that turns out to be the least of her problems when she meets the son of a couple who moonlight as vampire ninjas, worse yet, the worst nightmares of gothic literature come true with only a vampire-human hybrid born of two to stop them, what does that have to do with Unity? Is her past a hindrance to her future? What even is she?

Three years ago

It was the middle of the night with me leaning against my new-at-the-time motorcycle, my thumbs twiddled on my phone before putting it to my ear, "hello?" Marissa mumbled, sleep in her throat probably from me rudely waking her up, I would never unless it was important.

"Hey, I'm outside, can you please come out and see me?" I asked quietly, but clearly.

It was almost as if she knew it was so. "Sure thing." Marissa mumbled before hanging up, A few minutes of standing there waiting and I saw her front door open. "It's three in the morning, Unity, what's up?" That frog still in her throat from being up after a couple of hours of sleep. "Not that I'm not happy to see you."

"I came to say goodbye before I travel the country." I explained.

It was almost as of the sleep left Marissa's tired amber eyes when she heard me. "You're going to leave me? Leave Paige and Wanda?" She sadly, but understandingly asked.

More on this later, but… "It's like you always say, a child raised by the village actually will be embraced and we weren't." I said, placing my hand on her shoulder, wishing she was my age and not two years younger so that she could come with me. "I know I said…"

"You said a lot of things when we were younger, but here's hoping you find what you're looking for when you're out there in the world." Great as that was to hear that Marissa understood, it felt a little guilt inducing to have to do this to her as well as everyone else I ever cared about, it was stupid of me to care about some of them. "I wish I could come with you."

"Wish me luck, getting out of here without a trace." I said, her skinny frame and my slightly toned one pulled in an embrace before pulling away.

"Good luck." Marissa said, with one last look at her sad, but understanding face, I climbed onto my motorcycle, put my helmet on, started the bike up and rode away.

This has been my life for the past two years, A new hotel or motel or even a hospital seemingly every night, welcome as I most likely am to go home again, I never want to, the nomad lifestyle seemed to suit me, guess it's one of many consequences to being homeschooled your entire life and bullied for it.

It was nighttime somewhere in Montana, I parked my motorcycle in the parking lot at an affordable, but well put together motel… at least I hoped it was well put together, the neon sign that read "Kalispell Montel"- possibly named that for puns sake - was flawless, who knows what the rooms look like on the inside though.

The moment I approached the front office to book a room and took my helmet off, my reflection in the window lit by a porch light made an appearance, a full head of aggressively layered neck-nepe length helmet hair and round and bright eyes both black as ebony, tight skin and especially full lips as white as ivory, the shape of my other features were caucasian, such an appearance made me look nothing like my full name, Unity Tori, I'm always dressed like my butt that was somewhere in between chunky and toned wandered away from the biker gang, except, what biker gang?

I knocked at the door, a faint, but easily heard "Enter" seeped through the door, I turned the knob, tugged the door open and did as I was told. "Welcome to the Kalispell Montel." His voice sounded male, not traditionally male, but the idea comes across.

"Hi, I'd like to get a room." I said, looking at the guy, if a guy was what he was, The chances were more probable because he had that look in his eye when he saw me, doubtful even a girl that liked other girls could emulate or even duplicate that.

"How long you want?" He sleazily asked with a smirk to match.

"Just until tomorrow." I usually spend a few days in a town before leaving, but tonight, I found his guy to be kind of creepy.

"Okay." He sounded defeated. "Would you like a complementary breakfast before you leave?"

"No thanks." I answered before laying the money to pay for the room on the desk. "Pretty sure there's a breakfast place somewhere down the road." He took the money and handed me the key. "Thank you."

I found The room number that matched the key, slid the room key into the slot and opened the door, it was put together, for something I could get for a 10 bill.

"Okay." I said, gliding through the door, sitting on the pale gold bedspread cloaked bed, Setting my helmet onto it then just lying halfway on it.

Getting a Hotel/motel room might not make much sense to you after hearing this, but most nights just consist of me laying awake in/on the bed staring at the ceiling until the sun comes up, I never get tired in spite of this and I do get the rare night where I do fall asleep, but sleep doesn't seem necessary for me on the whole.

Just as tonight was about to be one of those nights… one born of two. A random and unseen voice whispered.

I wasn't even harboring some jewel that fell from the sky like Marissa and her new friends, what the heck? "What does that even mean, 'one born of two'?" I asked myself.

But the night became one of those nights anyway and I drifted to sleep, I came to, standing in front of a mirror, the reflection showing… A red Power Ranger.

"You are one born of two, it has chosen you." The Ranger ominously sang, bearing my voice, sounding a tad pitchy in places.

"What?" I asked flustered, 'she' wasn't making any sense.

"You're not tame." The ranger replied. "Turn into me."

I spontaneously snapped awake with a yelp, my eyes randomly fixated straightahead welled up to the brim with tears.

That dream has ruined my birthday for the past two… three years now, it always pops up the night before my birthday.

There was a knock on the wall. "You alright in there?" What sounded like a British voice asked with concern, Guess the walls between rooms are paper thin.

"Yeah! What's it to you?" I shouted my answer, no response so my reply probably made him back off.

The bloodstone pendant I wore around my neck was a gift from my mom that I was sure would keep her off my back and trail if it was brought with me, it worked so far, my fingers stroked it, I curled up in the fetal position and just silently let the tears fall onto my knees until the sun came up again.

The first ever light of day filtered through the curtains, I wiped the salt from my cheeks, stood to my feet, grabbed my helmet and walked out the door.
