No Longer A Wolf In Sheep's Clothing
Summary: This is the first Halloween Chuuya gets to spend with Aya so they go trick or treating together with Dazai bound to join them later on. However, Chuuya runs into an old acquaintance who just so happens to be the mom of a kid from Aya's kindergarten class.
A/N: Fun random fact about the title; it's a combination of No Longer Human by Dazai Osamu (obviously lol) and Wolf In Sheep's Clothing, a song by Set It Off. Just a funny combo, even though the song itself has nothing to really do with the plot of the story except the whole Sheep thing going on with Chuuya (in 15) but that's about it. It was just a word play because I felt like it I guess 'XD
Anyways! This is a sequel to My Big PMADA Family and a sort of Halloween special!
Hope you enjoy!
It's been a good few peaceful months, almost a full year since Nakahara Chuuya not only learned he had a family, but finally became a part of it as well.
It hasn't all been smooth sailing, which is to be expected after four years of separation and having no idea you had a daughter with the Omega you were desperately in love with without even realizing they were an Omega in the first place or that you had a hot night of steamy sex that resulted in a pregnancy and, as you would have it, a one-sided mate-bonding that would create other problems down the line until it was all resolved. He and his chosen beloved Omega, Dazai Osamu - the Demon Prodigy of the Port Mafia, the black wraith that haunted the darkness they controlled, Mori Ougai's very own Omega-adopted pup - had a whole lot of things to talk about even if the first night they attempted it, they just ended up making up for lost time and lost opportunities.
However! After the haze of the bonding-induced rut and heat finally wore off, Dazai had taken him to meet their daughter, going by the name Koda Aya for her own safety, just as Dazai kept his own family name to not let their enemies know just how important they've become to each other, and that was the moment when Chuuya's life officially changed forever.
He couldn't be happier if he suddenly had the whole world in his hands.
Well, he did: Osamu and Aya were his whole world, after all, and he could definitely carry them in his arms even if he wasn't using his Ability, much to his daughter's - and Dazai's not so secret - delight.
Becoming a father had been strange; as in, strangely easy. It had taken him no time at all to adjust to the life he was now living and the fact that his priorities had to change basically overnight. Aya and Osamu came first, in that order; his mate would kill him if that wasn't the order and Chuuya would let him. His little family moved in with him, so now Chuuya had to be there for dinner and breakfast each day and occasionally, he had to help his daughter with the 'homework' her kindergarten gave her to practice writing, counting, coloring and other such easy tasks that Aya could honestly do on her own, but it was clear she picked up Dazai's personality as she just wanted an excuse to spend time with him until they got comfortable with each other enough to do other dumb shit together.
Well, he really shouldn't even be thinking things like 'shit' lest he wants to slip up in his speech; Dazai had implemented a swear jar because he says Aya has Chuuya's temper as is and she doesn't need to pick up his foul language to get her into even more trouble with the kindergarten teachers. Osamu's been having a great lot of fun watching Chuuya struggle to censor himself around their daughter. That was probably the hardest part of fatherhood.
Giving up drinking had actually turned out to be pretty easy. He no longer had a reason to get drunk after work to forget, even just for a moment, all that he'd gone through or even sometimes still had to go through when a mission goes south and he loses men. He now has Dazai and Aya waiting for him at home and he just has to knock on the door in a certain way for Aya to know it was time to leave her parents alone for a few hours. She was a smart kid; not Dazai smart, or at least not yet, but Chuuya was no dumb broad, either, so it made sense their daughter was so clever and intuitive. Anyways, Dazai would take care of him on those rough nights or even if he does occasionally go out drinking with his friends and comes back hammered and he'd only make fun of him a little the next morning when he's suffering from a hangover.
Something that really took getting used to was the fact that, while Dazai still had bad days and bad days, he's found coping mechanisms that keep the suicidal thoughts away. This was something he had to learn because of Aya in the four years since he had left the Port Mafia; back then, he'd leave Aya with Natsume, Taneda or Ango - or even Mori - and then lock himself in a room with nothing that can hurt him, the exact dosage of sleeping pills to make him sleep through the day and lots of water. (Food was totally unpalatable to him during such days.) He'd repeat that as many days as needed, making sure to force himself to eat if the episode lasted longer than three days, and then he'd take a day to care for himself in the aftermath before going back to being Aya's Tou-chan.
Chuuya wished he could have been there for him through his hardest times, but having Aya had kept his depression at bay surprisingly well and it continued to do so. Chuuya helped when things did get bad and Dazai always had the most beautiful smiles when it passed.
Being called 'Otou-san' still melted his insides with warmth and love for both his daughter and his mate each time he heard it but at least he no longer became an emotional mess over it.
Dazai had also managed to convince him to stop hanging up their marriage certificate in the living room for all to see, but that was a recent development.
So, overall, fatherhood was great. Chuuya adored every day he spent with his family, he absolutely loved his beautiful Omega and his precious pup. All of their friends were really helpful in taking care of Aya whenever they had to go on long-term missions or when their heat-rut hit them, thankfully synchronized now that they were a properly bonded pair. (They made sure to practice safe sex, for now. They were still getting used to their new life as parents - new for Chuuya, anyway - and proper mates to consider a younger sibling for Aya.)
Giving up his bachelor lifestyle was definitely worth it each time Dazai or Aya informed him of some recital or sports day or any other event at Aya's kindergarten that he was invited to. The parents there were even surprisingly nice, too. Apparently, Dazai had never told anyone that Aya's father was not in the picture and instead said something about him being super busy; Chuuya's expensive clothes and the overall quality of things Aya owned thanks to Dazai's own filthy rich status he liked to hide from his coworkers helped paint the picture that Chuuya was just an overworked but successful young businessman.
Which is why he was here, now, tonight, on this All Hallows Eve, dressed as Prince Charming at Aya's excited and Dazai's teasing insistence, chaperoning Aya during her kindergarten's Halloween event. It wasn't actually even really night yet, it was only five thirty in the afternoon, and Dazai was still stuck at the Agency over some case they were finishing up, but Aya was Soukoku's child so of course he had to go with her. The only other option was Shin Soukoku this evening or, worse still, Zenki Soukoku; either pair would get Aya kicked out if they were to chaperone her tonight.
Thankfully, the Boss, as a proud grandparent, was very accommodating towards any and all things Nakahara-Dazai-Koda-family related and for tonight he had especially demanded cute pictures of Aya's costume.
Speaking of, Aya's costume was, to quote, the most beautiful princess of all princesses in the whole wide world and all of time and space!
Not that Chuuya disagreed. He absolutely found the tan coat, white pants, blue dress shirt and bandages adorable.
"I'd wanted to look like Tou-chan before, but he forbade it," had been her pouting complaint when he'd first seen her get-up and nearly keeled over in cuteness overload. He'd also helped her make a replica of Dazai's bolo tie to go with the outfit. They both greatly enjoyed the confused stares of anyone who asked her what she was dressed up as when she said 'a pretty princess!'.
So here they were, the ginger father and daughter, dressed as Prince Charming and a 'princess', doing little Halloween challenges, trying out some games and then participating in the Trick or Treating event the kindergarten had arranged with the houses on their street to ensure maximum safety of all children and no sad accidents or such things. Chuuya wished he could say he was bored out of his mind or that he was envious of such a childhood all of these kids got to have when he had been robbed of his, but he'd be a worse liar than Dazai if he did; he simply enjoyed the sounds of content and happy children's laughter too much. He himself was content around all these screaming and screeching kids as they got gently jump scared. It reminded him of his time with the Sheep when he'd had at least five kids hanging off of him at any time before he'd basically been delegated to just their weapon.
"Urrggghhh!" Aya suddenly groaned and grabbed his hand to drag him in another direction.
"Aya? Is something the matter?"
"Let's go this way, Otou-san. I don't want to deal with that annoyance-"
"Aya!" A little boy's voice called and Aya groaned even harder as she tried to drag her Alpha father away.
"Don't look back-"
"Aya! Over here! Koda Aya!"
Chuuya stopped, because as much as he'd like to indulge his daughter in all her whims, he wouldn't allow her to be (needlessly, in his opinion) rude. Aya whined and gave him a pleading look with eyes basically identical to his own, but Chuuya held strong. (Aya was good. She was a strong opponent. However, his Omega mate had a far more powerful pleading gaze and puppy dog eyes that Chuuya was still not immune to, so Aya had a long way to go before she matched her Tou-chan in being able to exploit Chuuya's weaknesses.) Instead, he prompted her to turn around so they could greet her incoming classmate.
He almost wished he hadn't, because that platinum blond shade of hair almost had him having war flashbacks to when he first met Verlaine, especially standing so close to what was basically his own mini-me.
(No, Verlaine was not a bad uncle. He had broken down crying when Dazai had insisted they let him meet Aya; he was quite possibly the biggest pushover regarding Soukoku's child and that's with Atsushi and Akutagawa in existence, mind you. Or even Zenki Soukoku, the overindulgent, doting grandparents that they were. Paul even came out of his basement twice a month to go out with Aya for ice cream or something! And worse still, he was officially Aya's favorite uncle, which caused quite a bit of chaos among her other uncles, grandparents and granduncles. (Dazai loved how even Ango, who is always terrorized by Aya and is thus reluctant to spend time alone with her, is indignant, enjoying the older man's suffering a great deal.) The only one who felt safe and secure in his role was Hirotsu, who knew he was the only godfather around. Even Natsume felt threatened and competitive towards Verlaine!)
But, yeah, no, Verlaine was turning out to be a great uncle and a great brother in law to Dazai, so the flashbacks were pure PTSD of seeing someone so similar to Chuuya being approached by someone with platinum blond hair and what had appeared for a second to be glacial blue eyes. Instead, the little blond boy had bright purple eyes of a rather familiar shade Chuuya could not quite put his finger on. He was Aya's height and apparently the new boy in her class, Kuon or something. He was dressed as a fairy, which was ... honestly kind of cute. Dazai would definitely find it hilarious. He had big dimples and flushed cheeks as he tried to glue himself to Aya, though, which was not cute because Chuuya may be emotionally constipated, but he thinks he's gained enough parental instincts to recognize a crush when he sees one. And being the father of such a cute, precious daughter such as Aya, he was not happy. Though not enough - yet - to throw hands with a five year old.
"Hi, Aya!"
"Hello, Kuon-kun," Aya replied with a lot less enthusiasm, even rolling her eyes exactly how Dazai did it. (The cutest thing Chuuya found about his daughter were the resemblances she had with her Omega father, because her physical appearance was mostly a carbon copy of Chuuya. But a lot of her mannerisms, probably because he'd been raising her basically on his own for so long, were definitely Dazai's.) "Could you let go now?"
"Aww," Kuon pouted, completely ignoring her request, as he scanned her outfit. "You said you were going to be a princess! I even dressed up as a fairy so we can match!"
'Okay, yeah, no, crush or no crush, this is just too freaking adorable.'
Aya, though, was thoroughly affronted! "I am dressed as a princess! I'm dressed as the prettiest princess of them all! My Outou-san said so!"
That's what brought the little boy's attention to Chuuya and he shyly let go of Aya, to politely bow to Chuuya. "It's nice to meet you sir, Mr Aya's dad! My name is Yuzu Kuon, Aya's classmate!"
'Well, at least he has manners.'
"Ah, you're the boy that joined a few weeks ago, right? Just call me Chuuya," the ginger introduced himself, mentally noting to look up 'Yuzu Kuon'. You can never be too safe regarding your child's safety, after all. "Are you here with your parents? You should go find them before they start worrying." He could clearly see Aya was not pleased by Kuon's presence and, well, ever since he's joined their kindergarten group, he's apparently stuck to Aya like glue; she can't shake him off. She'd spend almost every day complaining about him and Chuuya wasn't his beloved Osamu; he would not tease his daughter and enjoy her suffering.
(No, he was not being an overprotective Alpha parent, shut up, damn it!)
"Y-yeah, that's me, sir! And yeah, I came with my Okaa-san. She should be around here somewh-"
"Kuon! What did I tell you about leaving my sight! You know that it could still be dang-" A woman's voice cut off and Kuon, Aya and Chuuya all looked in its direction, only for Chuuya to freeze in his spot.
It's been years and they've both grown and changed a lot, but he'd still recognize her anywhere.
Yuan, one of the former members of the juvenile gang once called the Sheep. She still had those same sharp purple eyes and bright, gentle pink hair, only it was shorter and more modestly orderly now, going only down to her shoulders and no further. She also apparently got a beauty mark under her left eye and she was clearly twenty two or so instead of fifteen or so like when he'd last seen her. She was also, apparently, still just a bit shorter than him. She'd grown up into a nice young woman, clearly healthy though she didn't seem to be eating the best, judging by how her costume - was she Peter Pan? Did she think her kid wanted to inverse the roles or something? Was it even planned? - kind of hung off of her body just a little and she had dark circles under her eyes that she tried to cover up with makeup, but she seemed whole and hale. She clearly had a kid of her own, but her neck was unmarked. She had no ring on her finger and didn't wear scent blockers, so he presumed she presented as a Beta in the end.
She looked as deeply shocked to see Chuuya as he was to see her. Though she seemed delighted rather than awkward and slightly uncomfortable, unlike Chuuya. After all, how were you supposed to react to a supposed member of a family that arranged to have you killed?
"Chuuya! Long time no see, right? Fancy meeting you here! Oh? Is that your daughter? She's so adorable!" She hurried over and bent over to greet Aya. Aya hated people bending over to speak with her; Dazai had always squatted to be eye level with her or downright kneeled on the ground, something Chuuya also did after picking up on Dazai's methods to seem more approachable, so Aya hated feeling small when adults loomed over her even like this. Especially like this.
She side-eyed her father, as if asking for guidance, but Chuuya was just as lost about this situation as Yuan introduced herself and asked Aya for her name.
"Koda Aya, ma'am."
"Oh, you can just call me Yuan. 'Ma'am' makes me feel old," Yuan joked before straightening up. "So, you're the Aya-chan my Kuon is always talking about? I must say, now that I've met you, I'm not surprised. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree, you know~"
"Right," Aya said suspiciously, moving closer to Chuuya as though she could sense the way the woman's eyes were lingering on him, tracing over his form to commit to memory or compare how he'd grown up.
"Okaa-san! Don't be so embarrassing!" Whined Kuon with a red face.
"Say, why don't you kiddos go and get some candy while Aya-chan's dad and I catch up," Yuan told the children with that same voice she used to use on the younger members of the Sheep to get them to listen to her. Kuon seemed delighted by the idea but Aya hesitated. Chuuya was about to tell her that she doesn't have to, but Kuon grabbed her and dragged her away, much to her protests and threats of karate-chopping him if he didn't unhand her immediately. "They're adorable," Yuan said with a forced chuckle as she turned to Chuuya. "So ... Are you Koda Chuuya now?"
"Seriously?" He asks with a pissed off tone. "That's the first fucking thing you say to me? After all these years? After all you've done."
"Chuuya ... " She trailed off, biting her lip. "I know ... I know we messed up, but we were just kids and we were scared! You had to have understood that right? Or if not then, how about now? We were up against armed or Gifted adults and you were literally our only line of defense ... If we didn't have you ... If we had to fight you, on top of everyone else ... We had toddlers we had to look out for, Chuuya. I know it's not right and I'm sorry we doubted you. Shirase ... I'm still in contact with him and he told me what had happened that day, that it was basically all that bandaged guy's fault-" Chuuya bristled at the insult to his mate. "But it's already happened, Chuuya. I just want to put it behind us ... You're the only Sheep I've met since we disbanded besides the rare video calls with Shirase." She smiled bittersweetly at him. "We used to be a family, Chuuya. Can't we be friends?"
"Yeah, used to. But sure, we can chat whenever we bump into each other or whatever." The pink haired woman beamed at him, a blush gracing her cheeks that Chuuya ignored. "And no, I'm not Koda Chuuya. I'm still Nakahara Chuuya. Aya has a different surname for her own protection."
It didn't take long for Yuan to put the pieces together. "Are you still in the Port Mafia?" She asked with wide eyes, though thankfully in a hushed whisper so no one else would hear them.
Blue eyes gave her a deadpan stare. "Of course. I don't betray organizations that graciously take me in and give me a family." She winced at the sting in his words, so he let off, just a bit. "I made it to Executive before I was twenty; it pays good, it's mostly fun, it helped me find out about my past even though I couldn't regain my memories. So I'm happy. Hell, I'm ecstatic. I wouldn't have Aya if I hadn't been in the Port Mafia. So, I guess, in a way, I'm grateful to the Sheep for abandoning me; I wouldn't have met Aya's Omega parent had I stayed with you lot and she's my world now."
"I'm happy for you," Yuan said sincerely and that caused Chuuya to, perhaps foolishly, go softer on her. "I had Kuon when I was eighteen. Since he and Aya are in the same class, I'm guessing that's when you had her, too?" Chuuya nodded. "Well, I'm a single mom. He was kind of unplanned and his Alpha father didn't want to stick around with a Beta woman who was bound to give him a Beta child, or so his perception was."
"He sounds like a dick."
Yuan shrugged. "He hadn't been one until we found out I was pregnant. Apparently he had all these stupid stereotypes stuck in his head that hadn't shown until fatherhood was suddenly on the table. Anyway, I couldn't afford a safe abortion but I did get a lot of help from TeenMom and SingleMom groups before and after birth. Sometimes that help is the only thing keeping us afloat since a waitress' salary isn't the best at paying rent and all the clothes Kuon just keeps growing out of. But he's a happy boy and my bundle of joy I wouldn't give up for anything. Though I guess he does make the dating scene a bit hard," she said sheepishly, like it's a joke.
Chuuya gave a derisive snort. "If someone can't accept your kid, they don't deserve you, either." He also made a note to get Yuan a job interview at a better paying restaurant or hotel to make paying the bills easier. She had, after all, once upon a time been part of the group that had taken in the wild, little, feral beast that had been a fresh-out-of-the-lab Nakahara Chuuya.
"T-thanks, Chuuya," she blushed again and smiled as she shuffled closer to him. "Sooo ... What's Aya-chan's costume supposed to be? Kuon said he wanted to match her so he changed his own costume last minute and, well, since he wasn't going as Peter Pan, I figured I could be it while he's the fairy ... Thinkerbell, I think?"
"Tinkerbell," Chuuya replied with all the confidence of someone who's been forced to watch all those fairy tale renditions with Dazai, the fairy tale enthusiast from age fifteen to age eighteen and then re-watch them at age twenty two with his daughter, who had apparently learned to bond with her Omega father through those very same fairy tales. Though Dazai and Aya greatly disagreed on who the best princess was, especially in the Disney production. Aya loved Elsa, Dazai still adored the classic Snow White. They could have epic fairy tale showdowns over it and Chuuya just sat back and watched quietly even though he was of the opinion that either Rapunzel or Mulan were the best. "And Aya's supposed to be a princess, so of course I had to be a prince. I chose Prince Charming." From Dazai's favorite fairy tale, of course.
"I don't know that princess, though," Yuan mumbled to herself but waved it off. "So you had her with an Omega?"
"Yeah."
"Anyone I know?"
"I suppose ... " Because yes, they'd met, but Shirase often called Dazai Dazo or something ridiculous like that and he'd been the one who had once tried to get Dazai to join the Sheep, so he's not sure if Yuan would even remember him besides as 'the bandaged guy who destroyed the Sheep with words alone'.
"Oh, are they here?"
"No." Not yet, at least. Dazai said he'd join them as soon as he could but that they should go ahead because it will serve as some father-daughter bonding time or something. Aya had agreed because she had said all the best candy would be gone if they arrived too late and, well, Chuuya was a sucker for his family.
"Oh ... Well, that's too bad ... " She trailed off and Chuuya took that time to concentrate more on what Aya was doing than just halfheartedly track her with his eyes to make sure she's safe. She appears to be trying to shake off Kuon and it seems she's roped in her friends - three boys and two other girls - to try and help her, but Kuon definitely had some sort of crush on her because even bets or other girls' gifts couldn't distract him from her. Chuuya was starting to damn wonder if the kid had some sort of gluing Ability or something. "Uhm, Chuuya?"
"Hmm?"
"Uh ... Would you ... like to ... You know ... "
"Yuan?" He questioned, cocking his head in her direction with a confused frown.
She took a deep breath. "I just thought that you might want to, you know, go out for coffee or dinner or something ... sometime ... You know, just you an-"
"Otou-san!" Aya suddenly barreled into him in the middle of Yuan's stuttered rant or whatever, immediately dragging his attention down to his little girl. She had this too-innocent expression on her face that was fucking copy-pasted from Dazai whenever he was scheming something. "Look! Do you think we can make Sushi-nii dress up like that, but only white? Oh! Oh! Or better yet! Ryuu-nii!" She exclaimed while pointing at one of her shyly waving classmates who made a 'Rawr' motions with his tiger-onesies' paws. Chuuya smiled at the kid before looking down at the menace that carried Dazai's Little Shit genes in abundance. "And Sushi-nii can dress up as a black dragon!"
"You're a menace, just like your Tou-chan," he told his daughter as he picked her up with ease, saving her from Kuon's stickiness even if for a little while.
"I learned from the best~"
"Tou-chan ... " Yuan whispered but before either of the redheads could reply, a new voice joined them.
"Who dares besmirch mine valorous name?!" Dazai boomed and Chuuya whirled around, both his and Aya's face lighting up.
Only for Chuuya's jaw to drop when he set his eyes on his husband.
Aya was beaming so bright one might mistake the occurring sunset for a sunrise. "Tou-chan!"
"Tis I! Dazai Osamu," he came closer and took Aya's hand in his, pressing a gentlemanly kiss to her knuckles. "At thy service, mine lady." He scanned their daughter with amusement. "And who might thee beest?"
"I don't know what you're saying, Tou-chan," Aya giggled, causing Dazai to also chuckle.
"I asked: and who might you be?"
"Oh! Well ... I am Princess Aya of the Yokohama Kingdom! The prettiest princess in the world!"
"You are, indeed, the prettiest princess in the world, my lovely chibiest chibi."
"I meant you, Tou-chan," Aya replied with an adorable flush to her cheeks. And her words caused a matching one to appear on Dazai's own high yet delicate cheekbones as he melted with unconditional love for their daughter.
It was not helping Chuuya's state. At all.
Because Aya - and he, himself, of course - was right. Dazai was the fairest in all the lands! Chuuya has absolutely no idea where Dazai managed to get that white suit, vest and coat and black shirt and gold pins, buttons and cufflinks or who convinced him to tuck some of his bangs behind his ear, but Dazai looked like a bride. Or a princess. Like some kind of traditional Snow White with a modern, male Omega business/formal twist, especially with Dazai's naturally pale skin and the way the lighting was making his usually chocolate brown hair appear darker as dusk approaches. And with that blush and the obvious love in those once empty, emotionless eyes, love for their little girl, for their family ...
Chuuya falls in love all over again.
'We never did have a proper ceremony ... Can I convince Osamu to have one? I'll arrange it for next week if he says yes. Gods, I want to marry him.'
~You do realize I can hear you when we're this close, right chibiko?~
Now Chuuya joined the flustered squad.
Right. One more thing that he got used to way too easily was actually having Dazai in his head and being in his head in return. For many couples, that's a whole new experience, no matter how close they used to be or how compatible they were as mates. For Soukoku, it just materialized what had already existed since practically the time they met. Thankfully, they could only get impressions of each other's feelings when they weren't in the same room - or close range - with each other, or else focusing on work would be a lot harder for Chuuya, especially given how big of a tease Dazai can be when they know they won't have Aya with them for several hours.
"By the way, Tou-chan, what are you dressed up as?" Aya asked in an attempt to divert the attention away from all of their embarrassment.
"Why, I'm Snow White, Aya-chan~" Dazai did a twirl and Chuuya really shouldn't be staring at his Omega's waist in front of their toddler. "Pretty neat suit, huh? A little creepy that Shibusawa apparently had this prepared and waiting in Mukurotoride, but hey, it's so fine, I couldn't help but take it today when we were investigating that thing."
"It looks really pretty on you, Tou-chan!" Aya eagerly agreed. "Right, Otou-san?"
Chuuya nodded dumbly, not once taking his gaze off of his too beautiful husband. "He's the prettiest."
"Chuuya looks pretty handsome, too," Dazai replied with a smirk, scanning him over. It was a very classy take on the ridiculous outfit the Disney Prince Charming had been wearing. He'd definitely foregone the tights and fluffy sleeves or whatever and instead dressed in a suit in the exact same color scheme with a red coat instead of a cape, though he hadn't foregone his hat and his choker, of course. "A prince with two princesses? My oh my, Chuuya, how scandalous~!"
"Very~!" Chirped Aya and Chuuya just laughed at their antics, finally snapping out of his admiration for his mate.
"Oh! No wonder Aya is so pretty!" Kuon suddenly said, drawing Dazai's attention to the two outsiders, landing first on the blond fairy boy before snatching on the pink haired woman he obviously immediately recognized. Something in his face shifted and even his scent took on a slightly different note as he let it spread around their family and Chuuya would have rolled his eyes at the possessiveness if he didn't sometimes do that same thing around Kunikida, too, since he was Dazai's work partner and Aya rather liked the blond Alpha.
What can they say? Soukoku was possessive over each other.
Yuan also seems to have recognized Dazai as soon as her eyes landed on the bandages peeking out of Dazai's outfit.
Still, Dazai ignored her while the woman was too stunned to speak and instead squatted down to be at eye level with Kuon. "Oh? Why thank you, little mister! Say, are you perhaps my Aya-chan's newest classmate, Kuon? It's nice to meet you. Aya talks about you sometimes."
"She does?" Kuon asked hopefully with wide, glittering eyes.
"No I don't!"
Dazai just laughed as he got back up. "And you're Kuon's mother, I presume."
"Yes. I'm Yua-"
"We've met," came Dazai's cutting tone that went over the children's heads as he 'smiled' at Yuan. "Though I can't say I'd hoped for it, but oh well. Imagine that you'd meet my Chuuya and my Aya-chan at such an event! Truly, fate works in incomprehensible ways."
"R-right." Clearly, Yuan hadn't missed the possessiveness.
Chuuya hadn't, either, and he really shouldn't find it so hot.
He also almost questions why Dazai was acting like that but Yuan's visible disappointment was making the pieces fall into place.
He'd always known Yuan had some sort of crush on him back when they were kids, but he'd never seen her that way, even back when they didn't yet know their dynamics. He didn't see anyone in the Sheep that way. Dazai had literally been his sexual awakening, even if it had taken way too long for him to understand that, until he thought it was too late and the brunet was gone. Now, when he was 'older' and 'wiser' ... And with a chance to ponder back on their interactions so far this night, he could see that Yuan had been trying to flirt with him. She'd definitely been checking out his neck for any mating bites and though his choker covered most of it, he still made sure it was visible to ward off other Omegas. Had she missed it? Or had she thought such things didn't matter to him? Did he really give off that vibe?
Or could it be that she thought he was ashamed of it, since he covered it up? Some people did that, those who can't afford at least the cosmetic removal of the mating mark, but she had to know he was literally rolling in money since he'd told her he was an Executive for the Port Mafia. Was she just being hopeful?
Well, Dazai was here to shatter those hopes, because he draped himself over Chuuya and nuzzled both of his favorite gingers, making sure to scent them thoroughly while purring in contentment. And really, Chuuya had no reason not to return the favor, rumbling in his chest in happiness. Even Aya did her best to join them, just loving being close to her parents and smelling like them.
"E-excuse me," Yuan stuttered out and grabbed Kuon's hand as she made some hasty excuses to leave even as Kuon pouted and protested. Osamu, Chuuya and Aya watched them leave and all three shared the same thought: Thank (fucking) god.
"So!" Dazai chirped as soon as they were alone and took Aya out of Chuuya's arms to coddle her directly. "How was your guys' day?"
Aya immediately launched into the story of how they put her outfit together while they continued walking around so she could keep collecting candy. Chuuya took Osamu's hand in his own as soon as he let Aya down to run around some more with her friends, intertwining their fingers. "You didn't have to do that, you know."
"I know. I just don't like random people coming up to flirt with my Alpha."
"You said it; I'm yours," he reassured, grabbing Dazai by the tie to tug him down so he can kiss the mark he'd left there four years ago. "And you're mine. Nothing will tear us apart, Osamu. It's just you and me and Aya from now on."
"Well, for now," Dazai replied with a sly wink. "Hopefully, one day, you'll feel up to knocking me up again~"
"Osamu!" Chuuya protested, his mind already going to places it should not be going to while their daughter is mere steps away.
Dazai just laughed and frolicked off, Chuuya hot on his heels, threatening him in French so he doesn't scare off or scandalize the parents and their kids. Aya likes this kindergarten, after all, even if she has a new annoying classmate.
Some hours later, they go back home with a thoroughly tuckered out Aya and they barely manage to make her eat a light dinner, take a bath and brush her teeth before she falls asleep on her own feet.
But, well, when the kids are away, the parents get to play and Chuuya hadn't been able to take his eyes off of Dazai's waist since he'd taken off the long coat from his shoulders once they got home and now he had a clear view of his legs that go for miles, too ... And Osamu's possessive actions earlier and his suggestive teasing ...
Well, Chuuya was only a man, despite carrying a god-like thing inside of him. He can take only so much.
Besides, Osamu clearly wanted another baby, right?
Aya would like a younger sibling, right?
(Pray for Yokohama; it'll need it.)
(And Dazai's legs.)
