A month later…
Sonic ran though the flying leaves on the road, getting close to his destination. Seeing a familiar landmark, he stopped and saw that he made it to Acorn Cemetery. He let out a calming sigh, adjusted his red scarf and walked through the open gates.
With the autumn leaves flying, it made the graveyard all the more colorful, even with the bright, blue, afternoon sky. Sonic couldn't help but glance at the passing headstones until he got to the one he was looking for. It was a small tombstone, but the engraving was still readable for all to see, revealing it to be the grave of Joey Drew himself.
"Hey, Joey," Sonic said. "How's it going?"
With silence as his response, Sonic continued, "Me? Oh, I'm doing well. Just happy to be back at my old blue self."
He then got down to his knees and wiped off some of the leaves and debris off of Joey's stone. He began to tell him that after he destroyed the new ink machine and saved the trapped souls, the people who were once Lost Ones wasted no time in getting back with their lives, as his new friends were about to begin theirs. With Porter and his new mountain climbing hobby, Heidi passing her fashion classes with ease, Betty, who's actually LeAnn Lotus, doing well getting back into routine with her job at her cafe and Big Steve just happy to be around friends and eating anything he can get his hands on. Sonic added that Porter, Heidi and Big Steve have taken their new human lives much better than he had thought, making it clear that they're happy.
Sonic added that with Alan Gray nearly firing half his employees due to their involvement with Wilson and his plan, he promoted Archie Carter to manager as he was the only one that brought Wilson's scheme to light. From what he heard, Alan seemed to be doing well despite the chaos going on with his company. As for Archie himself, he seemed to be doing very well, never been happier, especially with him spending more time with Ms. Lotus.
As for the rest of his friends, Tails and Knuckles are doing great, with Tails showing Porter and Heidi about modern technology and Knuckles showing them the beauties of nature. Shadow and Rouge, however, continued with their duty with G.U.N., along with their agent, Zachery, who was back to normal and living his life to the fullest.
"Man, so much has happened these past few weeks, huh?" chuckled Sonic as he rose to his feet and looked over his work in cleaning Mr. Drew's burial stone. "Listen, Joey, I haven't gotten a chance to thank you for helping me escape the ink. Whether that was the ink's version of you or not, I still owe you. I guess the best I can do to make us even is keep an eye on your ink kids. You would've loved them, Joey. Speaking of which, tell Audrey I said hi, would you?"
Hearing his Miles Electric ringing, he flipped it on to see Henry Stein on the line with facetime. "Hey, Henry! What's up?"
"Oh, not much," Henry replied as he walked out from what appeared to be the kitchen to somewhere more quiet due to the background noise. "Just helping Linda get ready for tonight. You're still going, aren't you?"
"Wouldn't miss it for the world," Sonic assured him. "Besides, it's been awhile since we last got together anyway. Besides, I wouldn't want to miss out on Linda's cooking."
Henry couldn't help but laugh. "I knew you were going to say that. Hey, is that one of Heidi's scarves?"
"Yeah, it is," Sonic answered, showcasing the red clothing. "You know those scarves she made in her downtime? Well, she was giving some away and gave this one to me."
"I have to admit, red looks good on you, Sonic," complemented Henry.
"Thanks," laughed Sonic.
"Anyway, I was just calling to let you know that Friday is a go for that interview."
Ever since the battle at the Gent factory took place, Bendy's popularity had blown through the roof. Because of this, Nathan Arch, the head of Archgate films, has asked Sonic, Tails and Knuckles to interview them and their adventure in the original Joey Drew Studios for their upcoming Bendy horror movie, finally putting the rumors to rest. They were more than happy to be interviewed, just as long as they got their camos, of course.
"Sweet!" Sonic cried, pulling his fist in triumph.
Henry added, "Nathan's got a meeting around noon but he should be able to interview you boys afterward, if that's alright with you guys."
"Last I checked, I'm good to go," Sonic said. "And I'm pretty sure Tails and Knuckles are available, too. I'll double check with them just in case."
Henry smiled. "Nice. You have no idea how excited he is to meet you guys. Just a heads up, though, you might have to stay longer because of, uh, 'recent events.'"
When Sonic asked if Mr. Arch plans to interview everyone else involved with his last inky adventure, Henry told him that he will once he's done with them, adding that he's just as excited to see them as well.
"Speaking of which, Porter should be coming over with Tails and Knuckles, Amy and Heidi are also coming together as are Archie and LeAnn."
"What about your kids?"
Henry confirmed that his kids along with their own kids are coming to dinner. Sonic thought it would be a good experience for Porter, Heidi and Big Steve since they've never seen children before. But he had a strong feeling that they're going to love them.
"I have to admit, Sonic, I'm quite excited for this. It's been a while since we had this kind of party aside from Thanksgiving and Christmas."
"If this dinner party works, we should try one of those holidays," suggested Sonic.
"Let's take it one step at a time first," Henry said. Hearing his wife calling him, he told Sonic that he had to go. "I'll see you tonight. Take care, Sonic."
"You too, Henry."
After hanging up, Sonic turned to Mr. Drew's tombstone and said, "Looks like our time's up. I mean, I still got a while but I should probably go over to LeAnn's. If her food is just as delicious as her customers claim, then she's gonna need help taking them to Henry's."
Waving at the engraved rock, Sonic smiled and said, "I'll see you later. And thanks again for everything."
With that, he was gone in a blue flash, blowing some of the dead colored leaves up in the air. While some of the leaves gilded back down on the ground, a few landed right on top of the headstone which read, Joseph Drew - The Man With the Pencil and a Dream.
The End
