EVAN – 800

ZANE – 0000

EVAN – WINNER

.

The duel monster spirit started to list off reasons they should date, making Evan gain a tic mark on his head. "Not helping, Joker."

"Sorry, My Lord."

"…" Evan thought to himself for a moment. "That is a good point though."

"Right?"

.

Name – Evan Richards
Year – First year
Dorm – Obelisk Blue
DP – 368,981

How big was Zane's fucking win streak?

.

'This is so boring…' Evan thought to himself as he listened to Dr. Crowler's dull lecture. 'Wonder how my spirits are going with that search..? Probably not good. I did tell Asmodeus not to be back until they've found them after all. Those spirits would be a great addition to my ba.'

Crowler pointed to his projector, which was showing different types of interactions between cards while every student was either studying, sleeping, or bored out of their mind.

'I wonder what the story is between my Darklords and the instigator. Hm… I wonder what Euliya's doing right now…' Evan thought to himself before blushing, admonishing himself for thinking about the girl. 'I may have some "experience", but she took my first kiss. Of course, it's going to be like that.'

'I wonder what Alexis is doing tonight…'

Class was finally finished, and since Crowler's was the last of the day, students cheered as soon as the bell rang, letting the students free of their demise. (Wish I was as well.) As the students were gathering their stuff, including the new homework handed to them, Evan was trying to search around the room for his blonde female friend. He figured today was going to be really boring, so he wanted to ask her to hangout, but he couldn't find her anywhere.

As he was searching, he spotted the familiar head of black hair that he recognized as Alexis' friend, Mindy, walking out of the room. He quickly walked over to the exit, searching for the girl, and seeing her walking away while alone. He found it strange that she was alone but couldn't help but sympathize as he quickly realised that Alexis must have not been in school today.

He walked behind her, tapping her on the shoulder, making her turn around with a curious look. It faded into a smile as she saw the giant standing behind her, trying to slouch as much as he could so he could try and match her height.

"Hey Mindy."

"Hi, Evan~! You never usually talk to me, what's up?" He grimaced at that, realising that he truly never used her number until now, making him feel bad for her.

"Sorry about that, by the way. But I just want to ask you some questions."

"Go ahead~. It doesn't bother me, cutie~!" She cooed as she started to walk again, Evan keeping pace with her.

"I didn't have anything to do today, so I was wondering if Alexis was doing anything tonight? I also wanted to ask some questions about Euliya." He explained, making her hum, and then gain a teasing smirk.

"Trying to go for two at once? You sly dog~!" She teased, making him blush lightly, but didn't say anything. "Well, Alexis is sick, so that's why she's not her today, but I know tomorrow she's got something to do, but I'm not sure if she would invite you along or not."

"What do you mean by that?" He asked, curious about the meaning behind her words.

"She usually goes to honour her missing brother at the abandoned dorm, but I know she usually doesn't want anyone else to come along, but she might make an exception for you." She explained, making his eyes darken as he heard about the case, which made him angry at the academy.

"What happened at the abandoned dorm?"

She looked at him, as if trying to judge him, but seeing no ulterior motives, she smiled and explained. "Apparently, there was a separate dorm that was reserved for the elite of the elite, but one night all the students in that dorm all went missing and were never seen again. The dorm quickly got scrapped as a living space and its been abandoned ever since."

"And her brother was one of those students?"

"Yep! He was a rival to Zane Truesdale after all!" She sighed happily at the thought of Zane but remembered that there was another stud next to her and dropped her fantasies. "So, what are you questions about Euliya?"

He seemed to think for a moment before blushing, making her smile teasingly. He coughed into his hand before speaking. "I-I was just wondering what kind of a person she was with you guys, and if she was getting along with the other students, I g-guess." He stuttered, making her smile widen before she put a finger on her chin in thought.

"She just like she usually is with us, but she gets along fine with everyone else. Though there's one girl in our class who doesn't seem to like her, but she doesn't seem like she has that many friends, so maybe its just her." She thought out loud, making him curious about the girl.

He knew who she was talking about of course, but he didn't truly know who that was. He didn't know her name and she wasn't anyone that was familiar to him, but maybe Euliya knew her.

"Has she shared her past with you guys at all?" He asked, truly curious about it.

"Hm… Not really. A few snippets maybe, but nothing too in-depth."

'Interesting…' Evan thought to himself, wondering why she would share her past with him, but not her friends.

"Say, do I get something out of helping you out with this?" Mindy asked, stepping in front of Evan, stopping him. He raised an eyebrow, but she just giggled to herself.

"What would you like?" He questioned, trying to end this quickly conversation early so he could find Euliya and maybe find something to do.

She hummed to herself, staring at his face before she tilted her head to the side and pressed a finger on her lips. "A kiss would do."

.

.

.

"What?"

Silence reigned between them for several moments, Mindy expecting, and Evan confused, wondering if that's what she truly wanted. She didn't say anything, just looking at him expectantly.

He was truly at a crossroads on what to do. On one hand, it honestly would've been easier if she just asked for a quick fuck, but on the other, he didn't really want to kiss someone whom he had no feelings for. Sighing to himself, he grabbed her chin with two fingers, making her blush.

"If that's what you want." He said, really regretting asking her what she wanted, but figured that he might as well get it over with. He leaned down to her face, which made her blush grow bigger and making her close her eyes expectantly.

She puckered her lips to him, but her eyes suddenly shot open in surprise as she felt his lips on her cheek instead of her expected lips. Suddenly, she looked angry, but had a bigger blush on her face as she watched Evan pull back from her face with a teasing smirk.

"That will do, right?" He asked, daring her to do more.

She flushed, unable to. Not finding the words leaving her lips, she hmphed and started to walk away, but not before adding a nice sway to her hips which Evan definitely did not look at.

'Now, time to see what I should do today?'

The rest of the day was a fairly quiet affair for Evan. He stopped by the card shop to see if any new had come in to add to his deck. He bought a couple of packs that supported fairy cards and to his luck, he found some good cards for himself. Valhalla, Hall of the Fallen, Hecatrice, Celestial Transformation and the Ultra Rare Archlord Krystia. He was surprised to get these cards, as he didn't even realise that these cards were released yet, although he knew of their existence.

Pegasus' plan was to create future cards now and release in the far future, but it seems like he's changing it to make it so it's closer to the present. The reason escaped him, but he knew that whatever Pegasus was planning wasn't going to be good.

He decided to contact Pegasus that night, as he had nothing else to do, and after a few moments, he finally hit the call button, calling the man that had been his father figure for a few years now.

Ring..

Ring..

Beep!

"Evan, my boy, this is a surprise for you to be the one to call me. But I suppose this isn't a social call, now is it?" Pegasus famous tone spoke to him over his actual phone, pissing Evan off with how Pegasus seemed to expect everything he did, even though his Millenium Eye was gone.

"No, it isn't. You released some of those future cards, didn't you?" Evan asked the man in a serious tone. Even though he couldn't see him, he could feel the satisfied nod he gave.

"Ah, so you got them, did you? That's good, my dear Evan! But no, I haven't fully released those cards. I only released them to your island without telling anyone, cause I was hoping to give you cards and also give your fellow students the chance to catch up to you!" Pegasus explained, making Evan frown.

"What was the point of that, you old fart? These cards are gonna be called counterfeit once we leave this school, and what kind of idiot gave you the idea of releasing them to the whole island if it was only me you wanted to have them?" Evan asked with sigh. Shaking his head, he continued. "If you wanted me to have them so badly, you could have just sent them to me by mail, but you made it very complicated for no reason."

"…" The silence was deafening, and Evan blanched as he half-figured out what Pegasus did.

"You already sent cards to me, didn't you?" He asked, getting increasingly more annoyed.

"…" The man stayed silent for a few moments, before chuckling. "Yes, I did. Although it's not support for any of your current decks, but I have sent you a deck that I think you can put to use."

"That's not ominous at all." He sighed, before standing up, dropping the blanket he laid on himself and putting on appropriate wear. "I'm going to go out there, and you better not have given me an absolute broken deck. If you did, next time I see you, I won't see you. I'm going to ignore you the whole time." At that sentence, Pegasus did a spit-take, spitting out the red wine he was no doubt drinking while looking out at the ocean.

"W-Wait, Evan, my boy! There's n-no need for-!"

He was cut off, as Evan pressed the button on his phone to hang up the call, and as he finished putting on his temporary footwear, he headed out to leave. He opened the door and walked through the exceedingly quiet Obelisk Blue dorm. The place where mail for each student was to be collected at the front entrance of the building, and Evan had a bad feeling when he walked into that same room.

As he walked in, he spotted the Kaiser himself, Zane Truesdale, grabbing some mail that was addressed to himself, in his own world. Evan stared for a moment before walking over to his assigned letterbox and opened it with his combination. Once opened, he found a medium sized mailbox sitting there, no doubt having been there since this morning.

He heard footsteps behind him, and he turned his head, giving a brief nod to the kaiser, who had all the letters in his hand. Giving the boy who beat him in a duel a nod as well, he left the room in silence.

Evan, not minding the silence of the teen, simply grabbed the box and closed his letterbox before moving back over to the stairs where the second floor was located. Going up to the upper floor and then to his room door down the hallway, he quickly discarded the box onto his bed. Undressing himself, he stared at the box in contempt, noticing that it was Pegasus name as the sender.

Grabbing a box cutter from one of his drawers, he cut open the box quickly revealing what looked like a black metal briefcase inside, tinted with gold linings. Seeing that it was familiar, Evan squinted his eyes.

'Pegasus, I swear to god…'

Opening up the lid of the briefcase, he saw the upside-down deck sitting in the middle of red cushion, making him feel nervous. If this was really the deck he was thinking of, then he might just give Pegasus a piece of his mind.

Picking up the top card, he blinked. Definitely not the deck he was thinking of, but this just might be worse. Picking up the next card to see if his eyes were lying, he blinked again. Draw another, blink. Draw another and blink. Again, again, again and again. Finally, on his ninth try to see if his eyes were lying, he suddenly gained a completely horrifying looking face, his aura matching fire. You could see multiple veins popping out of his neck, forehead, and jaw as he stared at the multitude of cards.

"PEGASUS! YOU MOTHER FUCKER!"

"Oh dear, I think I just heard my dear boy scream!" Pegasus said, moving his sunglasses onto his nose.

"Nonsense, sir." His butler, a man named Frederick saw to it that he had another glass of his wine refilled as Pegasus stared out at the ocean gleaming off the sunlight.

"Hmm, maybe not. At least he won't ignore me now!"

"Oh, and why is that, Master Pegasus?"

"Because I sent him the deck he would least expect, plus a few new cards I had commissioned. I am retired after all!" The man laughed as he leaned back on his lawn chair, fully intent on relaxing the rest of the day.

Little did he know, instead of being ignore, he was instead going to get punched. Hard.

Evan definitely didn't like what happened last night, but it wasn't like he could stop it from happening. He woke up already annoyed, just from last night and that wasn't helped when he had to get up again for school. Looking back to the new deck that was sitting on his drawer unsettled him. He read over all of the card descriptions last night and even now he could think of a lot of combos that he could use with those new cards, but he didn't really want to use the deck yet.

He was contemplating on using it or not today in a duel against a student, but he thought that the deck would have been too good for any normal student, so after class today, he would ask to duel Jaden Yuki once again.

But as he wondered through his normal, monotonous day, something unnerved him. He felt like something was going to go all types of wrong today, and he didn't really know what he should do. As he arrived in the school though, earbuds in and walking slouched over, he realised that he shouldn't let it bother him.

"Jaden-san."

Jaden Yuki, Slifer Red student, turned around only to be met with the giant chest of the boy that he has gotten used to seeing right about now.

Jaden beamed. "How's it going Evan!" He asked as they walked out of the classroom, side-by-side.

"Good. I wanted to ask if you would duel me, either now or later. I've got some new cards, and they might be too strong for the average duelist, so I wanted to duel you who's beaten me once already." He explained making the smaller boy smile.

"Of course, man, always happy to duel you! Although I'm kind of hoping that I can have a chance against your Darklords sometime soon!" Jaden rubbed his nose with his finger as he laughed, making Evan smile as well.

"Someday. But I don't really like using my Darklords in casual settings if I can help it."

Jaden looked over at him curiously. "Why's that?"

Evan gave him a once-over, and then looked ahead. "They have spirits inside of the cards, and they can be pretty hardcore when they want to be."

Jaden looked at him in surprise before his eyes literally sparkled to life. "Woah! That is so cool! I have one as well!" Jaden yelled out as he reached into his deck box and grabbed his Winged Kuriboh card. "Here!"

Evan looked at it curiously, before blinking in surprise as the picture of Kuriboh literally winked at him. "Huh. Cool. Winged Kuriboh, huh? The only Winged Kuriboh spirit I know belonged to the King of Games."

Jaden simply seemed to light up once more. "YEAH! That's who I got it from!"

Evan raised his eyebrows, surprised, before he asked him to tell the story of how that happened.

"Well, I was late to the entrance exam because of the trains and as I was running to the arena, I wasn't looking where I was going and ran into the chest of Yugi Moto himself! Then he just handed me Winged Kuriboh and said something like, 'I think this belongs to you'. Then he left."

Evan snorted before pulling his composure back together. "Sounds like Yugi Moto alright. He was always a cryptic bastard."

"Wait, you've met him before as well?"

"Yeah. I've been living with Pegasus for a while, and he often went to see Yugi and brought me along with him. Yugi must have been his favourite toy around that time." Evan shuddered as he remembered the conversations that his surrogate father would have with the King of Games. Cryptic bastards, both of them.

"That's so cool man! Hey, after our duel, wanna come hang with me, Syrus and Chumley?" Jaden asked with his arms crossed behind his head.

Evan racked in his head. "Chumley?"

Jaden finally seemed to realise that the boy next to him never really met his roommate. Today was going to be a long day for Evan as he agreed, saying he had nothing better to do today. Once they arrived at the Slifer Red's dorm, the sun was starting to go down, the time no doubt getting late.

Evan looked at his phone. '5:23. Cool. I can finish this duel, hang out with the Slifers and then I'll go see what Alexis is up to.' Evan thought to himself as he shuffled Jaden's deck. "Are you ready for this Jaden?"

They handed each other's decks back, and Jaden smiled as he walked a few steps behind him. "Of course! I hope you're ready for me Evan! Get your game on!"

"Always. I'll go first."

DUEL

EVAN – 4000
JADEN – 4000

Evan looked at his starting hand with a bit of a grimace, cause he's never used these cards before, but he regained his confidence when he saw one of his core combo pieces.

EVAN – 6 CARDS

"Let's hope Jaden puts up a fight." Evan mumbled to himself, before grabbing a card in his hands. "Jaden, have you watched my father duel before?"

"Pegasus? Not really. Why?"

"You are a strange boy, Jaden Yuki." Evan shook his head but lost his smile. "Very well. I will show you how Pegasus duels then! Please welcome to the field the world of wonder and the world of fun. This is a world of imagination, and this is a world of Toon's!"

A giant book appeared in the middle of the field and opened up, revealing a dark castle lying within it's pages.

"Wait, Toon World? So do you have Pegasus' deck?"

Evan grumbled to himself. "Sure fuckin' seems like it." He shook his head before sighing. "Well, what can you do? I didn't really have a choice in the matter. But do you know what you're up against now?"

Jaden nodded his head. "Yeah, I have an idea. It's just Pegasus' cards from Duelist Kingdom, right?"

Evan stared at Jaden, who didn't even notice that he contradicted himself, before sighing once again. "Well guess what. You're wrong! I special summon from my hand my Toon Harpie Lady in attack mode!" What looked like a replica of a childlike, smaller Harpie Lady appeared on the field, looking like it's toon counterparts. Coming out of the book with a smile, she looked at Jaden with a mischievous smile.

Toon Harpie Lady – (LV4) – WIND – WINGED-BEAST – TOON – (1300/1400)

"Woah! What's that card? Where' you get it?!" Jaden asked in a child-like glee, making Evan grimace to himself.

"When Pegasus sent me his deck, it seems that he had made some new cards as well. Although I'm not too happy about it, but I won't reject powerful cards."

Jaden looked upon the Harpie Lady counterpart with a smile. "Well, they seem really cool! Show me what else they can do Evan!"

Evan grabbed a card from his hand while smiling. "Gladly." He said while placing the card into his duel disk. "I play the spell card Toon Table of Contents! This card allows me to search for any Toon card within my deck." He grabbed the card he wanted from within his deck and smiled before placing it straight onto the field. "With the spell, I grab another spell card Toon Bookmark! This one also allows me to grab a card from my deck, but with Toon World in its card text." The card appeared and went before a cartoonish bookmark appeared within the pages of Toon World.

"Woah, these are amazing search cards."

"They sure are. With that card I can grab and play another spell card, Toon Page-Flip!" The card appeared on the field before disappearing. Toon World started to flip its pages constantly, making Jaden nervous.

"What does it do?"

Evan smirked. "This card allows me to reveal three monsters from my deck, and you get to choose which one I can special summon to the field. So go on. Take your pick."

As he said that, three holograms of cards appeared in front of Jaden, surprising him. Jaden recognized the cards inspiration for all of them, but he didn't know what their effects were, so he picked the one that he thought was best. "I choose this one." He pointed to one hologram, which glowed, sending the other two holograms back into Evan's deck.

The hologram disappeared before Toon World's pages stopping flipping as it glowed. A large glow appeared on the field before revealing what monster was there.

"Welcome to the field Red-Eyes Toon Dragon!" A cartoonish rip-off of Red-Eyes Black Dragon appeared on the field, its red spiral eyes staring at Jaden menacingly.

Red-Eyes Toon Dragon – (LV7) – DARK – DRAGON – TOON – (2400/2000)

"This iteration of the famous Red-Eyes has an interesting effect! The original was a vanilla, but this one allows me to call upon another Toon from within my hand! Using his effect, I welcome to the stage Toon Dark Magician Girl!" Toon World flipped over one page before glowing again. On the field appeared the cartoon version of the most sexualised card ever.

Toon Dark Magician Girl – (LV6) – DARK – SPELLCASTER – TOON – (2000/1700)

"With that, I have started the beginnings of your downfall. I set one card face-down and end my turn. Go ahead Jaden. Try to beat me now." Evan said menacingly as he and all his monsters stared down Jaden in a cute/menacing manner.

Jaden started to sweat as he stared at all of the cartoon monsters on the other side of the field. They all seemed to stare right through him, and he didn't like the face-down that was giving him a bad vibe.

"I draw!"

JADEN – 6 CARDS

Jaden looked at his hand in thought before smiling to himself. "I first play Polymerization! By fusing together my Elemental HERO Avian and my Elemental HERO Wildheart, I can fusion summon Elemental HERO Wild Wingman!" A monster that looked like Wildheart with wings appeared on the field, screeching as it did so. "Next, I'll activate his effect! By discarding a card, I can destroy one of your spell and trap cards, and I choose your Toon World! Wild winds!"

The monsters flapped its wings fiercely, sending a small tornado over to Evan's side of the field. It ignored his monsters and went straight for the open book in the middle of the field. Before the tornado hit, Evan smirked. The winds hit, which sent dust and sand flying everywhere, making the boys cover their eyes.

Once the dust died down, Jaden was shocked when it was revealed that the book was left without a scratch, although he noticed that the bookmark that was inside was now gone. "What the?!"

"Sorry, I didn't fully understand, did I? Toon Bookmark's effect wasn't only to search for a card. Once it's been used, I can use it's graveyard effect to help keep my Toon World alive! So, your effort was for nothing!" Evan chuckled to himself as Jaden now looked nervous.

Looking back at his hand, Jaden looked determine. "Fine!" He yelled out as he grabbed a spell and revealed it to Evan, who looked confused. "I activate the spell card De-Fusion, allowing me to separate my Wild Wingman back into its materials!" Wild Wingman was split down the middle before a giant man that looked like a green bird as well as a man that looked like Tarzan appeared on the field.

Elemental HERO Avian – (LV3) – WIND – WARRIOR – (1000/1000)

Elemental HERO Wildheart – (LV4) – EARTH – WARRIOR – (1500/1600)

"Then, I'll sacrifice these two monsters in order to summon from my hand Elemental HERO Bladedge!" The monsters on the field were covered in a golden light before flying into the air. The light exploded before it was sent into the ground, revealing a giant man that was made of gold.

Elemental HERO Bladedge – (LV7) – EARTH – WARRIOR – (2600/1800)

"Using Bladedge, I'll attack your Toon Harpie Lady!"

The giant gold man quickly moved to Evan's side of the field before slashing at the Harpie Lady clone with his giant blade on his elbows, making the toon explode. Evan lightly flinched at the force, but otherwise didn't react.

EVAN – 2700
JADEN – 4000

"After that, I play the spell card E – Emergency Call which allows me to search for one HERO monster, then set a card. And with that, I end my turn! What do you think, Evan?" Jaden asked as he grabbed a card from his deck and placed it into his hand.

Evan smiled warmly before drawing a card. "I think that was a wonderful play, Jaden. Amazing reaction to your failed effect as well, but I commend you."

EVAN – 3 CARDS

Evan looked at his hand briefly before looking at his monsters on the field before smirking. "I will first use the ever-glorious spell card Pot of Greed, allowing me to draw two cards. Next, I will use my Red-Eyes Toon Dragon's effect in order to special summon another Toon from my hand. With this monster, the relationship of master and pupil is complete! Toon Dark Magician Girl, say hi to your master, Toon Dark Magician!" Toon World flipped it's pages once again before a glow appeared above it. The light died down, revealing the toon version of the blue-skinned and ever famous Dark Magician.

Toon Dark Magician – (LV7) – DARK – SPELLCASTER – TOON – (2500/2100)

"Right after him comes his effect! By using one of his effects, I'll be sending a toon card from my hand to the graveyard in order to special summon a toon monster from my deck without any restrictions! By saying goodbye to another copy of Toon World, I can say hello to the ace of this deck! Welcome to the field, Toon Black Luster Soldier!" Toon World's pages flipped rapidly, never stopping, before it suddenly stopped. The page it stopped glowed a bright light that blinded every person and filled every part of the field with the light. The light died down, revealing a small, cartoonish soldier with blue and yellow armour standing on the field giggling.

Toon Black Luster Soldier – (LV8) – EARTH – WARRIOR – TOON – (3000/2500)

All the toons on the field suddenly started laughing at Jaden, making him nervous. The monsters that were laughing at him only made him think that they knew something he didn't.

"Now, since my field is finally complete, I'll use my one last precaution!" He pointed his hand out, revealing that the face-down on his field was a spell card with what looked like a gloved hand on the card. "Reveal, Comic Hand! This spell card allows me to take control of one of your monsters!" Jaden made a noise in shock as he watched a small box appear above Toon World. "And the best part is Jaden? The monster I take control of becomes a Toon monster! The monster I choose is your Elemental HERO Bladedge!"

The small box suddenly sprung open, revealing a white, gloved hand that shot out towards the golden hero. It grabbed the hero around the waist before pulling back towards it's box, disappearing with the hero in tow. After a few moments of the box shaking and turning, it exploded open. The open box revealed a smaller and more cartoon version of the golden hero along with the same white hand gripping onto its head. The monster glared at Jaden with its green spiralled eyes before it let out a shrill screech.

Elemental HERO Bladedge – (LV7) – EARTH – WARRIOR – TOON – (2600/1800)

'I can't do anything! My trap only activates when he destroys my monster! I'm screwed!'

"Now, as I'm sure you know, my beloved Toon monsters can attack directly, and though some of them have a restriction for that, my Toon BLS and my new Toon Bladedge, I don't have to worry about that. Toon DMG, attack Jaden directly!" The girl cartoon giggled before floating over to Jaden, swerving out of the way of Avian before striking Jaden on top of his head with her staff, making him grunt.

EVAN – 2700
JADEN – 2000

"Now, you two, attack the boy directly and finish this!" Toon BLS and Bladedge both charged at Jaden, swerving out of the way of his lone monster before slashing at him – BLS with his sword and Bladedge with his elbow blades. Both of the slashes made Jaden grunt as his lifepoints reduced itself to zero.

EVAN – 2700
JADEN – 0000

EVAN – WINNER

"And that's game!" Evan exclaimed, smiling as the holograms slowly faded away, leaving just him and a heaving Jaden in the open field. "Nice duel, Jaden!"

Jaden smiled at him. "Barely. I couldn't even really do anything. Those toons are crazy!" Jaden exclaimed, accepting Evan's open hand in order to help himself up.

"They are, but I might not use them as often, although I will keep them ready, just in case." He explained as he grabbed his deck from the duel disk and placed the cards within the open card case on his belt.

"You should use them, bro! No one would stand a chance!" Jaden smiled widely, as if he didn't just lose what was probably quickest duel he's had on this island. "I might have to add a few cards in order to counter that deck if you ever play it again against me!"

"Well, next time might be the duel that I use my Darklords against you, so I guess we'll have to see." Evan said as they both started to walk to the Slifer's dorm.

"—And by the time he turned around, he felt the hand on his shoulder fade away, confusing him. Then, once he back to the mirror, he saw the face of the GHOST RIGHT BEHIND HIM!" Syrus and Chumley screamed as even Jaden looked freaked out by the story.

"Evan~! That was way scarier than a level six!" Syrus complained, making Evan shrug and put down his level six monster onto the table.

"That was the only thing I can think of, so you got that."

"My turn!" Jaden said as he picked up a card from the deck in the middle of the table. Seeing the level 1 Sinister Serpent, starting to think up a story.

"What are you doing, Children?" All of the boys there froze and turned their heads slowly, seeing Professor Banner, the head of the Slifer Red dorm standing to the side of their table, head tilted and with a dark smile on his face.

Everyone except Evan screamed, although the boy was frozen in shock.

"Oh, Professor Banner!" Jaden quickly regained his bearings. "We're playing a game where you have to tell a scary story based on the card you drew. The higher the level of the monster, the scarier it is. Wanna try?"

Banner smiled and moved to pick up a card. As he did so, he put it on the desk, letting everyone see. They all got scared when they saw the level 12 Five-Headed Dragon sitting there.

"Hm, let's see. Have you all heard of the abandoned dorm?" Banner asked, making everyone curious. Evan simply narrowed his eyes though as he heard it. Seeing them all shake their heads, banner smiled. "Well, it was once a dorm full of our school's top students, and as they were all researching something, they suddenly all disappeared, never to be seen again. No one's seen them since nor heard of them. Now though, it's forbidden to go there, and there is a punishment for all students who do so." He smiled as he saw Chumley lean against the table behind them, scared shitless.

Syrus was equally scared, but stayed in his seat. Jaden looked thoughtful instead of scared, and Evan's face had gained a fierce look. Suddenly, they were all startled when Evan stood up from his seat roughly, grabbing everyone's attention.

"Sorry everyone, but I believe I should go now." He explained as he walked out of the door, paying no mind to the parting words left behind him.

'I have a bad feeling about all of this.'

After a search that lasted around 30 minutes, Evan found himself in front of an old and decaying building. Seeing the overgrown grass and the boarded up windows, he knew immediately that this was where the abandoned dorm was. He looked around, hoping that he didn't see anyone, before he pulled out his phone and opening his contacts. He opened his message chat between him and Alexis and started to type something out, but hesitated before he pressed send. After he did though, he could suddenly hear a rustling in the bushes. Turning his head, he wasn't too surprised when he came face-to-face with the three Slifer Red idiots.

Evan sighed, leaning against the wall as they walked closer to him. They finally saw him through the darkness of the night it seemed, as Jaden called out to him.

"Oh, Evan, hey! What are you doing here?"

Evan looked contemplative for a second. "Scouting. So you three idiots don't get into trouble. Plus, as soon as I heard it was forbidden, I knew you would think of coming here. Let me give you a piece of advice. Turn back now before we all get into trouble, okay?" His words seemed to have hit them hard, as they all seemed to get depressed over being called idiots, but Jaden perked up the fastest.

"Alright, if it's you who said it, Evan. But you better get going too!" Jaden said without protest as he walked away, making Evan shocked.

'His compliance to me is oddly loyal. It's weird, but someone shouldn't trust someone so much just because they beat them in a duel, but who am I kidding?'

He stayed there for a few more minutes, hoping that no-one else would come here in that time. Finally, he heard another rustling of bushes, and he sighed, thinking that the boys would be coming back. But, when the person stepped out of the bushes, he noticed the figure looked feminine. Finally, he recognized the figure as Alexis Rhodes.

"What the-! What are you doing here?!" Alexis seemed to notice him to, but seemed oddly angry. Although, he could understand it as well. If he saw someone loitering around on his dead family members last location, he would be mad too.

"Waiting for you." He said simply, thinking that he should be honest with her.

"What?" She seemed mighty confused. "Why? And how did you know I would be here?"

Evan sighed, thinking about his next words. "Mindy told me about you coming here. Plus, this island isn't very large in security numbers, so I thought, what would happen to a beautiful girl, late at night and with almost no security around? That's bad news waiting to happen."

She seemed to not believe him for a few moments, before she sighed, giving up. "Fine."

She walked past where he was and reached the entrance of the gate to the dorm and placed a single rose atop one of the pillars and prayed for a few moments before turning to Evan.

"Sorry, could you leave for a moment? I'd just like to give some words."

Evan looked thoughtful for a moment. "Of course." He nodded as he moved away, going into the vast forest, and moved just barely out of hearing range.

As he stood there, leaning against a tree and waiting for her to be done, he was bored. He idly touched his new deck that sat within his case, wanting nothing more than to see how much combos he could pull of with the cards there. As he thought more about his cards and his other decks, his ears suddenly picked up the sound of a scream.

Recognizing it, he quickly ran out of the cover of the forest and ran towards the entrance where Alexis once was. From where she was, only that single flower lay, as well as what he could recongise as her signature card, Etoile Cyber. Looking to his right, he noticed that the door was open, which was a telltale sign of things going from bad to worse.

Sighing, he ran towards the dorm, quickly ducking under the top of the door frame and reaching the inside where everything was dusty, old and decaying, he looked around, trying to figure out a way to go. Hearing another, smaller scream in front of him, he ran straight into the hallway that led down into narrow space.

Leaning down, he walked as quickly as he could down the walkway that seemed to get smaller and smaller with every step. Finally, seeing a light source down at the end, he quickened his pace. As he walked through the exit of the narrow hallway, he reached an open circular room that had a ceiling so high he could stand comfortably and without any problems.

Looking around, he noticed that a man dressed in all-black was standing a the other end, leaning down and looking at something. When the man seemed to hear his steps, he stood up, letting the now enraged Evan see a knocked out Alexis tied up in a coffin, sporting a black bruise that seemed to be getting worse.

"You aren't my target." That was the only thing the man said as he turned around, seeing Evan there.

"And who is?"

"Jaden Yuki."

"Let me guess, Crowler put you up to this?" Seeing the man nod with a smirk, his rage grew.

"But you will have to do, I guess. Welcome to the end of the line, you imbecile!" The man yelled out as a black and gold duel disk suddenly appeared on the man's wrist.

Seeing him in full now, Evan could make out his image better. The man was wearing a dark cloak and black hat that was sported with a silver mask that only covered the top half of the man's face. Plus, he was tall. Not taller than him, but tall nonetheless.

"You will lose your life to my Millenium Pendant, and you will lose to the shadow games!"

Evan raised his eyebrow, his rage clearing. "Shadow games, hm? Well, since the Millenium Pendant isn't a real thing and I severely doubt that you of all people would be able to start any type of shadow game, allow me to do so."

Suddenly, a dark mist started to spread out of him, eventually covering the both of them within a dome like shape. The man grew nervous as he saw the floor beneath him change into inky blackness. Looking back at Evan, the man grew more nervous as he saw Evan looking at him furiously along with more blackness seeping out of him.

"What is your name, you sham?"

The man gained a cold sweat, feeling more nervous in front of this boy, no, man. "I-I am Titan, and my Millenium Pendant is not a fake! Let me banish you to the shadow realm!"

"It is you who will be banished to the shadow realm, you mongrel. Now… Face the wrath of the Fallen Angels!"

To be continued…

A/N: I just wanted to have a quick explanation for why my story may seem a bit off.

Some of my characters are OOC, but only because I haven't read or watched GX in years, but this idea for a story has been an idea I've had for while. My three favourite archetypes are the Darklords, Toons and Goukis, but I can't use Gouki cards in GX and I wanted to include the others somehow.

But most of these characters act like this purely based on what memories I have of them. For example, Jaden, to me, always seemed like the never give up attitude guy, who shrugs off all insults and even tries to be purely loyal to his friends because of the bond he has with them. That's what I think of him as, and that's how I'm writing him.

I was going to be putting up two chapters for Halloween, but I didn't have time this week or last week as I've been busy getting inducted into a new job, but hopefully next week I can give two separate chapters on the same day. So have a good day (or night), and enjoy!
