Samhain Magic Festival

It was nighttime at Luna Nova as Akko and her friends sat in their room. Lotte sat on a chair in the middles of the room holding a crystal ball.
"At the end of the Samhain Magic Festival, Vajarois will appear when the bell tolls at midnight. Vajarois, who cannot forget the sadness of losing her dear friends, ate the seed of sorrow. Which turned her into what she is today, as she cries out as she devours her sacrifices." Said Akko as they all watched it on the crystal ball.
"So that's going to be us. Just thinking about it makes me…" Lotte trailed off as she didn't want that to happen.
"So excited." Said Sucy as she was the opposite of Lotte.
"You scare me sometimes Sucy." Admitted Kero as he never heard of anyone who wanted to be eaten.
"We got to help her." Said Akko as she sat on her bed.
"What do you mean Akko?" Asked Lotte confused.
"Vajarois is suffering. She ate that seed so she wouldn't forget her friends, but all she did was making it so she can never be happy again." Said Akko as Lotte and Sucy shared a look.
"But why us?" Asked Lotte confused.
"Because next year some other team will get it and we'll never get a chance like this again." Said Akko as Lotte and Sucy shared a look again.
"But what can we do that the teachers couldn't?" Asked Lotte as it was a good question.
Akko thought about it before answering them.
"Well for one thing there's five of us." Started Akko as she looked at Kero and Yue who nodded at her.
"Another is we're more in tuned with our inner magic then them, probably." Continued Akko as she wasn't buying it either.
"Akko, that's nothing." Stated Sucy as the inner magic was a fair point but wasn't much.
"Akko we should leave this to the teachers." Said Lotte as she doubted they could do much.
"Yeah, nobody asked us to do anything." Agreed Sucy as she then laid down in her bed.
"But who knows how long Vajarois will suffer then." Countered Akko as she couldn't leave Vajarois alone.
"Akko we're just students." Said Lotte.
"And don't think the cards give you an excuse." Said Sucy as she pulled the covers over her.
Hearing that hurt Akko. She never felt entitled to anything from the cards. This was how she was.
"Akko, I understand what you're trying to do. But this time I think you should just stand to the side this time." Said Lotte as she then got up and climbed into bed.
Akko stood there as she didn't move as Lotte turned off the lights. Kero and Yue stood there as they wanted to say something, but they knew this was between the three of them.
Akko then sat down on her bed as she held out her hand and the book of the Clow floated over to her. Akko then opened the book as she looked at the cards inside.
'Am I getting ahead of myself because of the cards?' Akko asked herself as she never thought she did.
But then the cards gave a soft glow to tell Akko they're with her. Seeing this Akko gave a small smile as she looked at Kero and Yue, who agreed with the cards.
Seeing this Akko smiled at them as she knew she need help, so with that in mind Akko laid down in bed as she then went to sleep.
The next day students and staff were working hard to get the festival ready, while classes were still on. Diana walked through the halls as she made sure everything was going smoothly.
"Diana." Said Akko as she walked over to her.
"Hello Akko." Greeted Diana.
"Hey Diana. Can we talk in private for a minute?" Asked Akko as this confused Diana.
"Very well." Said Diana as the two found an empty classroom.
"What is it?" Asked Diana as she was curious.
"Well." Started Akko as she explained everything about Vajarois.
Diana was shocked to hear this. She never once thought about why Vajarois was like that. And maybe that was the problem. Today's problems are because witches aren't willing to change with the times. Mostly due to them not willing to adjust or change.
"Diana?" Said Akko as Diana spaced out a little.
"Sorry Akko. It's a lot to take in." Diana told her as she wondered something.
"So, what are you going to do?" Asked Diana as she knew Akko. Akko sighed hearing that.
"I want to help Vajarois." Said Akko as she felt terrible for her.
"And how will you do that?" Asked Diana as it was a fair question.
"I was thinking of making her smile or laugh." Akko told her as Diana wasn't thinking that would be her answer.
"Akko I'm not sure it's that easy." Said Diana as who knows how many people have tried to help her in the past.
"Maybe it is." Said Akko as this confused Diana. "After all I doubt anyone tried something simple. They probably tried making complex potions, or mixing spells together, or things like that."
Diana was about to respond when she realized Akko was right. That's exactly what she would have done if she was looking into this.
"You might have a point there Akko. But at the same time, I doubt it's going to be that easy." Admitted Diana as she the wondered something else.
"And what does your team have to say about this?" Asked Diana as she wondered where they were on this.
"They think we should just leave it to the teachers to fix." Said Akko as maybe they were right.
Diana thought about it, and they were right that they were students. But at the same time, it was the teaching staff that has failed Vajarois. And there was one other thing to consider.
"They are right about that Akko." Started Diana as Akko sighed as she figured that.
"But then again you are you." Finished Diana as that confused Akko.
"Huh?" Was all Akko could say.
"Akko you haven't even been a student for a year and already your making waves. Not with the cards, but by being you. You've opened up a whole new world for magic without even trying. If anyone can break Vajarois curse it's you." Said Diana as she meant every word.
Hearing that Akko blushed a little as she hoped Diana didn't see it.
"Thank you Diana." Said Akko as she then chuckled a little.
"Why is it when we're together I feel like we can do anything." Said Akko off handily.
"I feel the same." Admitted Diana as it was an odd, but welcoming feeling.
"Thank you Diana." Said Akko again as she then walked over to Diana and gave her a hug in thanks.
Diana was surprised by the hug and had a small blush on her face. But she then hugged Akko back.
But what neither girl knew was Eriol and Rebecca were eavesdropping on them. Neither said nothing as they gave each other a knowing look as they walked away.
Later that evening Akko was in the courtyard as she was hard at work on her transformation magic. But she felt like she was getting nowhere with it as she transformed into a hippo that deflated.
Akko sat down as she was breathing hard. She was getting tired, but transforming a card took much more out of her. But at the same time she knew she was getting to her limit. So with that in mind Akko was going to train for another half an hour to an hour before calling it a night as she continued.
Meanwhile with Akko's team Lotte and Sucy were trying to do their own things but were failing to. Lotte looked over at Kero and Yue who were playing a card game.
"If you're going to ask something, go ahead." Said Yue without even looking surprising Lotte.
Lotte then got over her shock as she then spoke.
"Kero, Yue why does Akko do these things?" She asked the two curious.
Hearing that question the two shared a look as they put their cards down.
"You'll have to be more specific." Said Kero as Akko does a lot of things.
"Helping someone who doesn't even ask for help." Said Lotte as the two knew what this was really about.
"It's who Akko is. If she see's somebody who needs help, she'll try to help them." Answered Kero as he's seen it some many times before.
"But…" Started Lotte who didn't know what to say.
"Lotte Akko's heart is one of her greatest strengths. Without it Akko wouldn't be who she is." Said Kero as he meant every word.
"It's also a pain." Said Sucy but they could tell she didn't truly mean it.
"Let me tell you something when we were capturing the cards." Started Kero.
"We were chasing the DASH card when it got away from us. When we found it again it was taken in by a girl from Akko's old school. When Akko saw how close they were she refused to capture DASH as she didn't want to break them up."
"Wait but we saw the DASH here." Said Sucy as she remembered the whole chase situation.
"Syaoran found out about DASH and went after it. In the end Akko had no choice but to reseal the DASH card. She felt terrible afterwards and it took her a while to get over it." Explained Kero as the two girls didn't know this.
"Akko doesn't see the cards as source of magic or anything like that. She see's them a living being and show them respect and care. And the cards know this and show her the same respect." Finished Kero.
Neither girl said nothing as they knew that Akko cared for the cards greatly. They remembered that time she risked her own health to transform the cards when she found they weren't well.
But at the same time, they felt they understood Akko a little better.
For the next few days nothing special happened as preparation for the festival continued. Brooms and statues were decorated. And the stage was being set up.
Diana watched as everything was going smoothly. But a part of her was wondering how Akko was doing.
And before anyone realized it three weeks had already passed.
Lotte was sitting at her desk as she wasn't doing much other then think. Think about how hard Akko's been practicing.
"Akko's been practicing so much lately." Said Lotte.
"And she's still no better." Said Sucy as she read a book.
"Hey Sucy, how do you think Akko is able to stay the same?" Asked Lotte as Sucy looked up from her book.
"What do you mean?" Sucy asked her as she didn't understand the question.
"Akko has stayed the same since we all meet in the forest of Arcturus. With all the fame and pressure now on her, she has stayed the same." Said Lotte as she would have surely changed.
"Maybe she's an idiot." Admitted Sucy but even then, she wasn't sure.
"Why are you asking?" Wondered Sucy.
"I guess I'm jealous of her. Whether she fails or gets hurt, she continues on regardless of the situation." Said Lotte as she's read of it, but to see it in real life is different.
"She just doesn't know when to quit." Said Sucy off handily.
"I think it's amazing." Said Lotte as she wished she could be like that.
"It's one of her strengths." Said Yue as he entered the room.
"I thought that was her heart." Said Lotte confused.
"Cerberus thinks it's her heart, I believe it's her will." Yue told her.
"Her will." Said Sucy curious.
"Yes. Even though I've known her for less time than Cerberus, I have seen Akko follow through with every decision she has made." Said Yue as he flew over to Akko's desk.
"But I feel she's dragging us along with her wishes." Admitted Lotte as it felt that way sometimes.
Yue said nothing as he grabbed a book from Akko's desk and took it over to Lotte.
"Read this then." Said Yue as gave the book to Lotte.
Lotte looked at the book as Sucy joined her.
"Tick or Treat plan?" Said Lotte as she read the cover of the book.
Curious she opened it and the two went wide eyed at what they saw. It was Akko's plan to help Vajarois. But what stood out was there was two plans. One where Akko worked alone and the other was the three of them working together.
"Akko never forces anyone to do something they don't want to. She may push you, but that is because she believes in you." Said Yue as that made both girls realize that Akko never once put themselves in a dangerous situation on purpose.
"But what if we're not good enough?" Asked Lotte as she felt she wasn't that good.
"Arae Aryrha." Said Yue confusing the two.
"Huh?" Said Sucy.
"It means do not compare yourself with others, do what only you can do." Explained Yue as the girls thought about it.
"Thank you Yue." Said Lotte as she and Sucy left the room.
"They're good friends." Said Yue as he had his doubts about them, but they're proving him wrong.
Back with Akko she was cleaning up as she was frustrated. No matter how hard she tried she couldn't get transformation magic just right.
"What am I doing wrong?" Asked Akko as she was worried about her trick or treat plan.
That was when she heard someone coming. She was half expecting Diana or Ursula. But was surprised when she saw Lotte and Sucy there.
"Lotte. Sucy." Said Akko as she was wondering why they were here.
"You really can't do anything on your own, can you?" Said Sucy as she held up the book containing her trick or treat plan.
"But maybe the three of us can do something together." Said Lotte with a smile on her face.
"What about letting the teachers handle it?" Asked Akko as she wasn't trying to be mean with the question.
"We gave it some thought and listened to your guardians." Started Lotte.
"And we realized that nothing we do will change your mind. So it's either we stand to the side or we help you." Said Sucy as she had a small smile on her face.
"So lets work together." Finished Lotte as Akko couldn't believe what she just heard.
"Thank you, you two." Said Akko as she hugged her friends.
"With you two by my side I know we can do it." Added Akko.
The next day was the day of the festival. It was around noon when Holbrooke and Diana stood near the Ley line as they awaited the arrival of someone. They didn't have to wait long as the line opened.
Coming through the line was tall woman who has an air of grace and elegance around her. And that many would consider beautiful. She has long ebony-black hair that is tied into a high ponytail that is held up by a golden piece that has hair stands hanging from both sides. She has purple eyes that stand out from her white skin and red lips. She's wearing a long sleeved Hanfu with light purple borders, and a royal blue sash that is tied with golden rings with red ornaments hanging around it. This was Yelan Li.
"Mrs. Li it's so good to have you here." Greeted Holbrooke.
"Thank you." Said Yelan as she gave a quick bow and looked at Diana.
"It is good to see you again Diana. You look more and more like your mother each time we meet." Siad Yelan as she bowed to Diana.
"Thank you Yelan." Said Diana as she returned the bow.
"Now then I wish to talk to Akko in private." Said Yelan as this shocked the two.
"She didn't do something did she?" Asked Holbrooke nervous.
"No, but I have some information she should have." Said Yelan as both Holbrooke and Diana shared a look.
A little later Akko and Yelan were sitting together in someone's office.
"It's good to see you again Yelan. How's Syaoran doing?" Asked Akko curious.
"My son is well and is training hard. When you told us about the attacks he wanted to come over and help. But there is no school close enough for that to happen." Said Yelan as if there was, she would have accepted his request.
"I see." As Akko would have happily accepted his help.
"But for now, the reason I arrived early." Said Yelan as Akko was fully focused on her.
"I have looked through everyone who has any relationship with Clow Reed and have found nothing." Said Yelan confusing Akko.
"What do you mean?" Asked Akko as she didn't understand.
"Those not within the Li clan or the Cavendish names have either died out or don't realize their background. And if they did there no way they have the magic to pull off what has happened to you and your friends." Answered Yelan as it was confusing.
"I see." Was all Akko could say.
"But there is one thing I think that may be relevant." Started Yelan as Akko was confused.
"There has been rumors about a pair of strong magic users going around for years. I tried to look into them but there wasn't much to go on. And as such wrote them off. But after hearing about your dream." Said Yelan as Akko understood.
"You think it's them." Finished Akko as there was a chance she was right.
"Maybe. But at the same time, I do not know how they got their training." Said Yelan as the feats they performed needed much training and magic.
Akko said nothing as if what Yelan was saying is true then there are so many more questions.
"But enough of that for now." Said Yelan confusing Akko.
"I understand there is something going on between you and Diana." Yelan told Akko who blushed and looked away.
"I don't know what you mean." Said Akko as she wasn't sure about her feelings for Diana.
"I overheard you and my son talking one day." Said Yelan as she wasn't trying to eavesdrop, Syaoran had the phone's speaker on.
"I am not trying to tell you what to do. But in situations like these trust your heart." Said Yelan as Akko said nothing as she thought about her feelings.
A little bit later fireworks were going off as the festival began. And from the Ley Line Luna Nova's Alumni appeared. Including the other three judges for the festival.
As the Alumni landed the students greeted them as they played drums as they used bones as drumsticks as well as blowing into horns with the Luna Nova symbol on them. As the Alumni looked at this some of them frowned as not much has changed and not in a good way.
Soon everyone sat in the stands in the middle of the sports field as the stage was set up there. The stage had a normal bottom with trees as were support with foliage as a roof.
On one side of the stage sitting at a table were their guest judges. The first was Yelan. The next was a woman with pale skin with green eyes and dark green hair that somewhat covered the left side of her face. She wore red robes with a white furred hood and a red hat. And around her neck she wore a skull on a keychain. This was the rockstar witch Marjolaine.
The next woman was an older woman with grey hair and yellowish gold eyes. She wore her witch rob and hat over her business suit as a white shirt and red tie could be seen. This was minister of the East Mogiana Republic Dorlin.
The final woman was also elderly as she has short, plum hair. She wore a blue suit with a pointed hat with a monocle on her right eye. But what stood out for her was her familiar, a stoat, sat around her neck like a scarf. This was the Nobel prize winner for literature Ural.
Meanwhile on the other side sitting at a table was Badcock, Holbrooke, and Finnelan.
"I wonder what the new owner of the Clow cards will do?" Wondered Dorlin as she was interested in the Atsuko Kagari.
"She must be very refined and powerful to control those cards." Added Ural as Yelan got an amused look on her face. Something Marjolaine saw.
"Have you meet her before?" Marjolaine asked her curious.
"Only two times. But she is indeed powerful, but I'm not sure about refined." Answered Yelan as the three looked at her.
"By the way why aren't the cards in your family or with the Cavendish's?" Asked Marjolaine as though one of them would get them.
"I did send my son to collect them. But in the end, he failed the final test set up by Yue. While Atsuko passed it." Explained Yelan.
"Are you sure it was wise to leave such power items with someone without a magical background?" Asked Dorlin curious to Yelan's answer.
"All our families started without magical backgrounds." Started Yelan as she looked at Dorlin. "As for if it's wise, I think it is. She passed the tests put before her and has gained the respect of my son. When he came home, he told me we should support her when she went public about the cards. Something I agree with."
Hearing that the three judges said nothing as Yelan name meant a lot and it wasn't something she gave freely.
But their conversation was cut short when they heard the festival executive committee chair was making the beginning speech.
Diana walked onto the stage as she stopped before a mic that was in the shape of a bird skull.
"I'm here to announce the opening of the Luna Nova Samhain Festival!" Said Diana as five students flew overhead on their brooms level a trail behind them. The five then made the Luna Nova symbol in the air as fireworks exploded around it.
The students and some of the Alumni got excited as the festival was now underway.
But for the Alumni their excitement vanished soon enough. The events weren't as exciting as they remembered. In fact, it was almost exactly the same as when they were students.
Though some were impressed by the speed that Amanada's team clean up the stage. A couple were even wanting to talk to them about their vacuum cleaner.
As the night wore on the students were having a hard time staying awake. While the Alumni looked bored out of their minds.
"This isn't that great. Just like every other year." Sighed Marjolaine as she was bored.
"No wonder magic is becoming obsolete." Agreed Dorlin as she had more exciting meetings.
"It's all because Holbrooke became principal." Said Ural as she blamed Holbrooke for this.
"That's not a fair thing to say." Said Yelan as she looked at the author.
"Then explain this?" Said Ural as she gestured to the festival.
"The result of many people refusing to change." Said Yelan as she's dealt with this may times before.
"She has a point. Don't forget Holbrooke has started those inner magic classes." Said Dorlin as they have caused quite the stir.
Ural said nothing as she had no counter for that.
Meanwhile Akko and her friends sat in the back as they awaited their turn. No one said anything as they didn't know what they could say at the moment.
"We'll be fine." Said Akko suddenly with a bright smile. Seeing this made Lotte and Sucy more relaxed.
"Your right." Agreed Lotte as she then added. "Arae Aryrha."
"Huh." Said Akko as she recognized that as one of the seven words.
"It means do not compare yourself with others, do what only you can do. Yue told us it." Explained Lotte as Akko smiled.
Soon it was time for the main event as Diana and her team made their way to the stage as they wore cloaks.
The Alumni judges were interested in seeing what Diana could do, as they've heard a lot of high praises about her. At the same time the teachers were glad Diana was on the stage as they knew they were in for a show. Meanwhile Yelan just watched on as she wanted to see where Diana's level was now.
Diana saw the look on Yelan's face and knew she was judging her. Seeing that look Diana was not about to fail in front of her.
"We will preform water summoning magic, passed down from ancient times." Announced Diana as she and her team brought out their wands.
That was when the lights on the stage went out and all any one could see was the light from their wands. But an interesting thing was Hannah and Barabara's lights were light green, while Diana's was golden in color.
Seeing this the Alumni wondered if this was the result of learning to use one's inner magic.
"Shurial Muryuelle… creature with the sacred mane…" Said Diana as a pool of water suddenly appeared under her and her team.
Everyone was cavitied by this as they couldn't look away. At the same time Hannah and Barbara walked away from Diana as she continued.
"Receive the light from the stars. Now come to life from the flowing fountain! Tiphillie Lirullianae!" Continued Diana as she held her wand high.
Then from beneath her a wave rose outwards that turned into a watery symbol that appeared briefly. Then the water exploded and from it was unicorn came rushing outwards. It ran towards Diana who held out her hand. Seeing this the Unicorn placed it's head on her hand.
Seeing this everyone from the students to the teachers to Alumni cheered loudly. Diana looked at Yelan who nodded her head. Seeing this Diana smiled.
Back with Akko and the others they heard the cheering as it meant it was almost their turn.
Akko smiled at the applause as she was hoping to get one just as big or bigger.
"Lotte, Sucy lets give this everything we've got." Said Akko as they agreed with her.
The three then made their way to the stage. As they did, they passed Diana and her team.
Akko and Diana locked eyes as they didn't say anything. But the look in each other's eyes said everything for them. As Diana walked off, she knew Akko had this.
Back with the Alumni table the judges were glad this was nearly over, but this last event was one that they all agreed they hated but had to deal with.
"All that left is the sacrifice." Said Ural.
"And it's the new owner of the cards who's doing it." Added Marjolaine.
"She'll be fine." Said Kero as he and Yue walked up in their real forms.
The Alumni was shocked to see the two guardians of the Clow cards there as none of them could say anything.
"Yelan it's good to see you again." Said Kero as he sat down next to their table.
"Same to you Cerberus." Said Yelan as she turned to Yue.
"And a pleasure to meet you Yue." Said Yelan as she bowed to him. A bow Yue returned.
The other three were shocked by how close Yelan was with the guardians of the cards.
But before they could say anything Akko and her team were on the stage. And that when the clocked chimed for midnight.
"Hello, everyone! Let's begin the exciting sacrifice ceremony show!" Akko called out excitedly confusing them.
"Exciting?" Said Finnelan confused.
"Sacrifice ceremony show?" Added Badcock equally confused.
The two were ready to stop her when Holbrooke stopped them.
"There's no rules on how this must be done. So lets let her have some fun here." Said Holbrooke.
'And maybe she'll fix our mistake.' Added Holbrooke mentally as she did inform the staff about what she was told. Many of them weren't sure about the information.
Meanwhile with the Alumni they wanted to see what Akko could do.
That was when Varjarois pot's lid moved, causing everyone to look at the pot as Varjarois came out.
"Varjarois the Grieving, come on out!" Said Akko as she looked at Lotte and Sucy.
"Right Akko." Said Lotte as she and Sucy flew upwards on their brooms.
"Release!" Said Akko as she brought out her staff/wand. "Over here!"
Everyone was wondering if Akko was abandoned by her team, but those who knew them knew better and were wondering what was happening.
Varjarois then bent down and looked at Akko like she was crazy or something. Varjarois then opened her mouth as saliva started to drip from it.
Akko saw this as she was a bit taken back from the sight.
"Metamophie Fa…" Started Akko only for Varjarois to eat her.
Everyone was surprised as Akko made such a deal at the beginning only for that to happen. But then they saw Varjarois was looking funny as if she couldn't taste her food.
"What's that?" Yelled out a student as there was something small running on the stage.
There running on the stage was a mouse. That was when they remembered the spell Akko was trying to use. A transformation spell. Seeing this shocked the Alumni as no one has done this before.
"How dare she!" Said Finnelan as she was about to get up only to be held back by Holbrooke.
"There, there." She told Finnelan as this was an interesting twist.
Akko then ran away from Varjarois as she then turned back into a human.
"Come on, Varjarois! Come get me!" Taunted Akko as Varjarois looked at her.
Then inside Varjarois something pulsed causing Varjarois to act more violent. Varjarois then roared and destroyed the stage surprising and scaring everyone. The judge tables floated out of the way as Kero and Yue flew upwards as well.
"This is different from last year." Said Marjolaine as she couldn't look away.
"It's getting interesting." Agreed Dorlin as she felt the same.
Then from the dust cloud came a swan. But for those who knew the Clow cards they could see a resemblance to the FLY card.
"My how beautiful." Said Holbrooke as Akko flew in place.
"I can't fly anymore!" Said Akko as her arms were giving out on her as she then dropped.
But then she started to float as balloons were attached to her. Seeing this surprised everyone as they saw it was Lotte who gave Akko the balloons.
"Nice support! Now, I should join in." Said Sucy as she brought a vail of something. She then poured a liquid from the vail around Varjarois.
Varjarois then started to shake, but it wasn't her. From the ground all around Varjarois mushrooms of all shapes and sizes started to grow. Some almost being as tall as Varjarois.
Akko then landed on a mushroom as she looked up at her friends.
"Thank you, Lotte, Sucy!" Said Akko as she looked up at them.
"Akko, right behind you!" Warned Lotte.
Akko looked behind her and saw Varjarois was right behind her. Seeing this Akko let out fake surprised scream as she then transformed back to normal. Akko then backflipped onto another mushroom as Varjarois ate the one she was on. Akko did a couple more as she landed perfectly on the ground. Seeing this everyone couldn't help but applause for her acrobatic feat.
"All right! Lotte! Sucy!" Yelled Akko as it was time for the next phase.
"No problem!" The two said at the same time as they casted their magic.
Varjarois blinked a couple times confused, wondering what they did. Unaware that her head was a think brush. But then Akko popped out of the bush but this time she transformed into an orange elephant.
"Hello Varjarois! Don't be so sad! Smile!" Said Akko as she popped in and out of the bush on Varjarois head.
"How vulgar!" Said Badcock as she and Finnelan felt the same. But the thing was they were about the only ones who felt that way.
Everyone was laughing and smiling. From the students, to the Alumni, to the teachers, to even Yelan who was giggling.
Their attention was then drawn to fireworks in the sky that Lotte and Sucy were making.
They then saw Akko standing on a mushroom, as she was human again.
"Varjarois! Are you hang fun yet?" Asked Akko as she could hear everyone laughing. But it was for nothing if she couldn't help Varjarois.
"Send away your sorrow with laughter! Metamorphie Faciesse!" Said Akko as she began her next step.
This time Akko turned what looked like a purple rabbit. But it's head began to inflate as she floated upwards. Everyone including Varjarois watched as Akko floated upwards. Once she reached a certain spot her head began to inflate as she then exploded. But from the explosion came a glowing monkey that then turned into a jellyfish. The jellyfish then expanded as it then turned into a pink chick that was trying to fly. The chick then inflated as it then popped into a white hippo.
"Come on, Varjarois! Please smile and laugh!" Said Akko as she continued to change from one animal into another.
"Akko still can't transform completely." Said Lotte with a laugh.
"But they're all laughing, so it's okay." Said Sucy as that was impressive on it's own.
At the Alumni table all the judges were laughing, even Yelan was giggling at the sight.
"What's with this awful magic?" Asked Marjolaine as she couldn't get enough of it.
"It's interesting, actually." Said Ural as she was trying to cover up her laughs.
"That's it, Akko!" Cheered on Amanda as this was her favorite part of the festival now.
Even Diana was smiling as she could see the effort that Akko had put into this.
"How was it Varjarois? Are you happy…" Started Akko only for Varjarois to let out a cry so loud and powerful it knocked Akko off the mushroom she was on.
It was so fast and sudden that Akko didn't have time to react, but thankfully Lotte and Sucy did. The two swooped down and grabbed Akko's arm as they flew her upwards to safety.
"Lotte! Sucy!" Said Akko thankful they were there for her.
"Varjarois doesn't seem like she's having fun at all." Said Sucy as she even saw the teachers laughing.
"Varjarois" Was all Akko could say as she looked at Varjarois, who even looked sadder then when they started. Akko sighed as she was hoping that this would be an easy fix.
"So, what are we going to do?" Asked Sucy curious.
Akko thought about it as she then got an idea. And idea Sucy will love and Lotte will hate.
But as Varjarois was crying a leaf fell on her nose causing her to look up and sneeze. Just as the girls were flying over her.
The sudden change in wind cause the three of them to go flying as Lotte and Sucy lost their brooms. Everyone was shocked to see this as they hope they be ok.
The girls stopped flying upwards when they were right in front of the moon. They all shared a look as they knew what was coming next, as they then fell down. As they fell down Akko was looking around until she saw him.
"Yue!" Cried out Akko as she held out her hand.
Seeing this Yue knew what Akko wanted and without missing a beat he pulled out the Claiomh Solais surprising the judges.
"Isn't that Chariot's Shiny Rod?" Asked Marjolaine confused.
But Yue didn't answer her as he tossed it at Akko. Akko saw the rod coming her way as she then caught it.
"Thank you." Said Akko as she then saw Sucy pointing.
Confused Akko and Lotte looked down and saw Varjarois there with her mouth wide open. Akko and Lotte cried out as the three of them got eaten.
Inside Varjarois Akko and Lotte continued to cry out as they moved within Varjarois. All the while Sucy had the biggest smile she'd ever had on her face.
"Varjarois let us help you!" Cried out Akko as the girls felt like they were moving in a different direction.
That when they popped out into some sort of chamber. The girls looked around confused when they saw something. The object was reddish and had tubes leading out of it and entering Varjarois's body. But the centre of the object was glowing red.
"What is that?" Asked Lotte confused.
"I think it's the source of Varjarois sadness." Said Akko as she wasn't sure herself.
"What else could it be." Said Sucy as it didn't look natural.
"All right then! Let's go, Lotte, Sucy!" Said Akko determined.
"Um, how?" Asked Lotte as she had no idea what to do.
"Use a card to destroy it?" Suggested Sucy also unsure.
"We don't know what that could do to Varjarois." Said Akko as she did think about that. That was when the Shiny Rod glowed. Seeing this Akko knew what to do.
"Varjarois, remember the laughter! Their smiles! All your doing is hurting yourself and them!" Said Akko as she held the Shiny Rod before her.
"Arae Aryrha!" Chanted Akko as Lotte and Sucy placed a hand on Akko's shoulders for support.
The third orb on the staff glowed as the staff then transformed. The transforming staff reached out to the source of Varjarois sadness. Once done the staff had lines reaching across the source as a long line went from the source to Akko and the others.
"Ready?" Asked Akko as they then started to pull.
Outside Varjarois was acting strangely as a green light shone from inside her. Everyone who didn't know Akko were confused, but those who did know her knew she was doing something.
"Come on Akko." Said Diana as she wanted her to succeed.
Back with the girls they were pulling with all their might, as they were making slow progress.
"Where's an elephant when you need one?" Akko said to herself as this reminded her of the POWER card capture.
Back outside Varjarois suddenly squeezed herself tightly as the girls inside felt it.
"Akko." Said Kero as he wished to help her, but she flat out told them not to interfere.
With Akko and her team, they were trying to pull but Varjarois was making it harder and harder to do that.
'Varjarois your friends don't want you to live with sadness. They want you to smile, Varjarois! If they saw you know, they would hate themselves for they would see themselves as the problem here. So let us help you, so you can see them again!' Thought Akko as Varjarois on the outside heard her thoughts.
She then remembered her friends. And Akko was right. If they saw her now her friends would blame themselves for this. And with that Varjarois let go of her sides.
Akko gasped as the walls released them. Seeing a chance the three of the renewed their pulling as they tore out the source of Varjarois sadness.
The three of them then suddenly went flying outwards as all everyone could do was in awe as Varjarois started to vanish.
"Kero, Yue!" Called out Akko as the Shiny Rod let go of Varjarois Sadness.
Not needing to be told anything the two attacked the source as Kero breathed fire and Yue fired his crystals at it. The attacked hit the source as it was destroyed.
With Varjarois her sadness now gone she remembered the joy she had with her friends.
No one said anything as they were trying to understand what just happened. At the same time Kero and Yue rushed over to Akko and the others as they caught them before they could hit the ground. As they landed Varjarois reappeared but much different now.
They saw a young woman with long pink hair that went down to her waist. She was wearing a crown with gold trimming and a red centre.
"Is that Varjarois true self?" Asked Akko hoping it was.
"Thank you for freeing me, from myself." Said Varjarois as she curtsied to Akko and her team before vanishing.
It took a minute, but everyone started to clap as they realized the show was over. Even the Alumni judges were clapping.
'She is quite the witch.' Thought Yelan as she knew supporting Akko was the best choice she's made in awhile.
Even Eriol and Rebecca were happy. They knew about Varjarois curse but couldn't say or do anything to help her. But Akko did it for them.
But there were some who weren't happy like Finnelan and Badcock who felt Akko and her team had destroyed a part of the festival.
But what no one knew, standing on a nearby tower was a woman who hid herself with a cloak. She watched the whole situation as black cubes with one side being yellow and another having a yellow diamond on it flew towards her.
The woman held out her hand as the cubes merged into one large one. She then made her leave but not before looking at Akko one more time.
Serval minutes later after the judges discussed who the moon light witch would be. They came to a decision. Though discussion would be the nice thing to say as some of them were screaming at each other about who should win.
"Attention everyone!" Started Holbrooke as student and Alumni alike listened.
"After much discussion." Said Holbrooke as she saw Finnelan and Marjolaine glaring at each other. "We have a first for this year. This year the moonlight witch title shall be held by two. Please come up Diana Cavendish and Atsuko Kagari!"
Hearing this surprised everybody as this has never happened before. Both Akko and Diana walked up Holbrooke who gave them both matching outfits.
"Congratulation to both of you." Congratulated Holbrooke as everyone cheered for them.
All both girls could do was wave to everyone as it was a lot to take. But as they did Akko looked at Diana as she knew the next task she had to do.
A little bit later everyone was heading back to the dorms as Akko looked for Diana, as she then spotted her.
"Diana, can we talk for a minute?" Asked Akko as she looked nervous.
"Sure." Said Diana as she then turned to her team. "I'll catch up with you two."
Soon the two were alone as Akko looked nervous.
"What is it Akko?" Asked Diana curious what this was about.
Akko swallowed the lump in her throat as she started.
"Diana, you're an amazing person. Someone I respect and try to out do. And lately whenever we work together, I feel like there's nothing that we can't do." Said Akko as she was trying to find the right words.
"Akko are you…" Trailed off Diana as she was blushing hard.
"Would you go on a date with me this Saturday?" Asked Akko nervously.
"Yes!" Said Diana almost instantly as she then composed herself. "Yes, Saturday will be fine."
"Ok." Said Akko as both of them felt so nervous as they went their separate ways.
But when they both went to bed neither could sleep as both couldn't wait for Saturday to arrive.
