Author's Note: Hey guys! Long time no talk and I am sorry for that. Work has just been really chaotic and I'm trying to figure out a balance. But I'm back and I promise I won't be gone for that long anymore. Anyway, I really wanna thank those of you who've read chapters one, two, and three. I really appreciate it. It's really helped me, and I don't think I could continue this without you guys. From the bottom of my heart, thank you! As always, I do not/ have not/ probably, nor will I ever own the rights to Bob's Burgers. Those belong to Disney 21st Century Fox/ Loren Bouchard. Now onto chapter 4.

Ch. 4 The Day She Grew

Jocelyn was always taller than the other girls in her grade. A gene given by both her parents. When she was younger, her height meant nothing. Standing in the back for class pictures or helping her win playground races. Then it all changed the summer before eighth grade. To Jocelyn, the transformation felt overnight. She got her period and then her body started changing. She didn't realize how much until she had been getting ready to go to Wetty, Set, Go with Jimmy Jr. A few days prior, her doctor had told her she had grown four inches. Much to Jocelyn's dismay. She had gone to put on her favorite purple one piece, but it didn't feel right.

It was tight around her thighs. Then, when she pulled the swimsuit up, she noticed how it fit around her chest. When did she get boobs? And when she turned around the fabric that was supposed to be covering her butt was barely doing so. What was she going to do? She couldn't go to the water park like this. It's embarrassing.

"Mom!" Jocelyn yelled as tears filled her eyes.

Her mom rushes into her room and stares at Jocelyn with alarm. "Jocelyn? Baby? What is it?" She asks worriedly.

"I look like a freak! I can't go to the water park." Jocelyn sobbed.

"What do you mean?" Her mom asked, now confused.

"Look at me!" Jocelyn screeches while turning multiple times.

Mid spin, her mother grabs her by the shoulders, "You have to calm down or I can't help you." She warned before she and Jocelyn took a deep breath together. "Okay, now tell me what's wrong." She calmly asks.

"I don't look right." Jocelyn sniffles.

"Yes, you do! Jocelyn, you're so pretty." Her mom encouraged.

"No! Not looks wrong! My body looks wrong." Jocelyn explained with a tinge of annoyance in her voice. How couldn't her mom get it?

Meanwhile, her mom's do a quick scan of Jocelyn's body. Looking for bruises, scratches, or deformities. That's when she notices how tight the swimsuit is. Oh! "Jocelyn, there's nothing wrong with your body. You're just growing. It's normal for girls your age." Mrs. Donahue tries to calm her down.

That didn't help Jocelyn. She couldn't stand the phrase "natural for your age". She heard when she got her first period, she heard it when she started growing boobs, and when she started getting taller. At first, she didn't mind it, but there's only so many looks a girl can get before she's uncomfortable.

"Why today? I just wanted to go to the water park!" Jocelyn whimpers.

"You can still go. I'll just get one of your dad's t-shirts to cover you up." Her mom suggested.

Jocelyn eyes her skeptically. She wasn't sure if an oversized t-shirt would work. Mrs. Donahue places her hands on Jocelyn's shoulders, "It'll be okay." She promises with a warm smile.

Something in that made Jocelyn want to believe her mom. "Okay." She replies before her mom pulls her into a hug.

She gets one of Jocelyn's dad's t-shirts and with that they were off to the waterpark with Jimmy jr. In the beginning it was great! The slides had never felt faster, the lazy river had never been lazier, and the wave pool was even clean! Then Jocelyn and Jimmy Jr sat down.

"Hey, Joc." Jimmy called out in between sips of orange soda.

"Mhm." Jocelyn replied absentmindedly as she looked out into the water park.

"Why are you wearing a t-shirt?" Jimmy asked.

"What?" Jocelyn replied nervously as she tuned into their conversation.

"Why are you wearing a t-shirt?" He repeated himself as he pointed to the soaked black t-shirt. She's not nervous at first.

"Because I want to." She shrugged.

"But why? Only big guys wear shirts to the pool." Jimmy explained as Jocelyn brought her knees up to her chest.

"That's like not true, Jimmy." Jocelyn shakes her head.

"Yeah huh! My new friend Zeke said so." Jimmy shot back. Jimmy had met Zeke at the park a couple months ago and it's all he talks about now. Jocelyn couldn't stand it.

"Well, he's stupid," She scoffed.

"Don't call my friend stupid, big girl!" Jimmy fought back.

"Don't call me big girl!" Jocelyn shouted.

"Then why are you wearing a t-shirt, huh?" Jimmy shouted back.

Jocelyn's legs go down as she stares Jimmy Jr dead into his eyes, "Cause I'm uncomfortable." She replies.

"Cause you-" Jocelyn cuts Jimmy off.

"If you call me big one more time, I'll shove you in the kiddy pool." She threatened. She really didn't want to, she just wanted him to stop.

"Do it!" Jimmy eggs her on. He keeps saying and even standing in front of her.

Jocelyn couldn't take it anymore. She shoved Jimmy Jr into the kiddy pool. Only problem is, Jimmy held onto the hem of Jocelyn's shirt. As he went down, Jocelyn's body had moved forward, and Jimmy took the shirt with him. Leaving her in the middle of the water park in her bathing suit. She was frozen before she made an attempt to cover herself with her arms. Tears began to well in her eyes as she searched for her mom.

"Mom!" Jocelyn sobbed out.

Mrs. Donahue had been sitting with Ms. Pesto at the sandbar. Every once and a while looking up to make sure the kids were good. Five minutes ago, Jimmy and Jocelyn were talking. She looks up and see's Jimmy in the kiddy pool and not too far away her daughter in her bathing suit, hugging herself.

Immediately, Mrs. Donahue rushes over with a towel. "Are you okay honey?" She asks as she tightly wraps the towel around Jocelyn. Jocelyn shakes her head before her mom turns to Jimmy. "James, please give me that shirt back. Then you can tell me what happened." Mrs. Donahue demanded.

That's when Ms. Pesto walked up. "What's wrong?" She asked.

"Mom! Jocelyn pushed me into the kiddy pool cause I called her big girl!" Jimmy explained.

Ms. Pesto eyes her son. "And why on earth would you say that about Jocelyn?" She asked.

"Cause she was wearing a big t-shirt." Jimmy shrugged.

Ms. Pesto looks to Mrs. Donahue apologetically. "I'm sorry." She says, already aware of the situation with Jocelyn.

"What?" Jimmy asked.

"James, you had no right to treat Jocelyn that way. Get out of the pool. We're going home." Ms. Pesto urges.

"But Mom!" Jimmy whines.

"Now! We'll talk when you get home. Get out now." Ms. Pesto commanded.

Jimmy gets out of the pool, not even looking at Jocelyn. Meanwhile, Jocelyn's mom was hugging her.

"Let's get you home. I'll even stop for ice cream on the way." Her mom offers.

Jocelyn doesn't say a word. She changes her clothes and they leave. From that day on, Jocelyn is acutely aware of her body. Never truly feeling comfortable with it.

A/N: This was a hard one shot for me to write. Girlhood is never easy and I can't imagine Jocelyn being a tall blonde having it easy either. Thank you for reading and I'll see you next time!
