Here we are, everyone! Part one of Resident Evil: Blackwood aftermath. When I was getting this set up, I was debating on either having this continue in Dulvey, Louisiana or make up a fictional town that I use instead. I was thinking long and hard about how to set the aftermath open until I came with a conclusion to do a fictional town instead since I feel it was complicated to implement the aftermath in Dulvey. If anyone has any ideas regarding this fictional town to make it unique, please PM me. As always, please read, review, and enjoy!

By the way, Happy Halloween!

Aftermath pt 1

Following the events of the Lodge incident on Blackwood Mountain, the police gathered the remaining survivors to question them on what transpired. With the events still fresh in their heads, it was the right moment to interview them individually. Chris Redfield watched the observation window of the interrogation room. The first of the survivors that began to interview was David Fox.

"The old man... I, um, I don't really know how to describe him."

"One of your friends thought he was stalking you at first. Did anyone else in your group think that?" the interviewer carefully asked him

"Well, yeah maybe-"

"It is possible he was the one involved with killing them."

"What? No, no you don't understand. You don't what went down-"

"If he attacked them."

"He's the one who saved my life. And I watched him die, just like Jessica and Emily."

The next to be interviewed was Chris Hartley, regarding his encounter with the Baker family on the mountain.

"So you're saying this Lucas Baker is the one who took you?" the interviewer queried

Chris scoffed irritated. "That fucking nutjob. He was insane. Him and that whole family, except for Zoe. She... she tried helping us out."

"Zoe Baker? They took her to a secure facility to be treated."

"Wait, Zoe's alive?"

"Just barely, but the doctors say she'll make a slow recovery in her current state."

"Lucas is still out there. All of you need to find that crazy son of a bitch and put him down."

Next was Ashley Brown, who had an altercation with Lucas Baker during the incident on Blackwood Mountain.

"I stabbed him and I tried to get away, but I-" Ashley explained frantically. "But I couldn't do anything! I couldn't reach Chris!"

"Who did you stab?"

"Lucas. I-I stabbed that maniac Lucas, right in his eye but it just healed after he pulled it out." Ashley stammered before sobbing. "It was healing up when he-he..."

The interviewer carefully asked her. "Ashley, what did Lucas do to you?"

"He did more than just hit me."

Mike was the fourth person to be interviewed, regarding Black Mountain as the conversation led to Lucas Baker.

"He was out of his fucking mind." Mike said. "He wanted to hurt us. Him and Eveline."

"Eveline. Who is she, Mike?"

"Trouble. Just one absolute nightmare. The Connections are to blame for this, too."

"And what do you know about the Connections?"

Mike shook his head in response. "Nothing. But all I do know is they're responsible for what happened on that mountain."

The fifth person, Francesca Reyes was next after Mike. This pertained to the whereabouts of Josh Washington.

"Josh. Did- did you find him?" Fran asked

"We're still searching." the interviewer replied

"Oh, god."

"Fran? Is there something you want to say?"

"David was the last person alive to see him. He said Josh was gone. Josh and I... we were together. The two of us have a connection. Or we had a connection."

The interviewer expressed sympathies to Fran. "If you need someone to talk to-"

"I'm fine."

"Sometimes after a traumatic experience-"

"I said I'm fine." Fran snapped. "Sorry, it's just- I don't want to talk about it. Said we were going in Quarantine."

"That's right."

"Where?" Fran asked

Lastly, it was the interview of Samantha Giddings. This however, provided more insight of the Blackwood Mountain incident and more informative on possible detail that was important to the investigation.

"I need you to listen to me." Sam suddenly burst out. "I don't care if you believe me or not. Doesn't matter because you will. You need to go into the mines."

"What's in the mines, Sam?" the interviewer warily asked her

Sam gave a blank smile before she replied. "I've seen what's down there and so has David... and I'd give anything to unsee it."

Chris Redfield folded his arms with a narrowed expression, getting all the answers he needed to know on account of the events that occurred on Blackwood Mountain. The Connections, Eveline, and Lucas Baker were the cause of what happened in Blackwood Mountain with there being six survivors after the trail went cold in Dulvey, Louisiana. He still hasn't heard any whereabouts of Lucas Baker after the survivors were found, along with no sign whatsoever of Joshua Washington. Chris decided to have the survivors taken to Cypress Falls for their quarantine, in Montana.

Redfield heard a knock on the door as one of his men entered the room. "Well, sir? What do you think?"

"Follow protocol. Have them in quarantine." Redfield said professionally. "Take the survivors to Cypress Falls at Fort Haven."

"Yes, sir. And what about Lucas Baker or Josh Washington?"

"Keep looking." Redfield ordered as the soldier nodded, leaving the room.

The six survivors of the Blackwood Mountain were then taken to Fort Haven at Cypress Falls, Montana. They were in a six week quarantine, being monitored and observed of any symptoms before an antidote was synthesize for them. In the meantime, they waited patiently for them to be treated as some of the others checked on Zoe's condition. Her torso was covered in crystallized mold and her hair pale white. The officials at Blue Umbrella was trying to find any next of kin but the survivors haven't heard anything as of late. Chris and Ashely were the first to be vaccinated for the T-Blackwood Virus as they were cleared to go home to their families, wondering what they were going to tell Josh's parents. Mike and Fran were the next to be treated and vaccinated for the virus. After the two of them were cleared to go, they checked into the Silverpine hotel in town. The duo did so for the betterment of waiting for David and Sam to be cleared, not yet ready to head back home as they began to ponder everything they've experienced together while they waited for the last two of their group to be cleared. Fran stepped out of the shower, towel covering her body as she wiped herself dry before leaving the bathroom. She took a moment recalling the events from Blackwood Mountain before putting her clothes on as she heard a knock on the door, putting a orange tank top on before heading to the door. She peeked to see who was at the door as she opened it to reveal Mike wearing nothing but a pair of dark blue jeans, and a flannel shirt.

"Hey." she said, seeing Mike carrying a bag of takeout food

"Hey." Fran let Mike in her motel room to set the food down at the coffee table before she closed the door and locked it. "I went and brought you something to eat." he took everything out of the bag, starting with a salad tray and a plate. "I got you catfish and a Caesar salad."

"Thanks." Fran then see Mike put out a plate of his own, consisting of steak and fries. "Steak and fries for you?" she asked as Mike nodded in reply, before the two began to eat their foods

The two eat for a good while before Mike asked. "How are you holding up?"

"Better, but... that mountain." Fran paused, taking a seat on the couch of her motel room. "It changed everything for all of us."

Mike sighed. "Yeah. The truth of what we found out about Hannah and Beth. They still haven't found Josh yet."

"And Lucas is still on the loose." Fran muttered

"Hey, don't worry. Alright?" Mike touched Fran's hand with his. "They'll find that piece of shit." he said to her, assuring. "In the meantime, we can wait for David and Sam to cleared from quarantine before we head back to California."

"You're right." she replied, setting her food elsewhere as she glanced at her SIG Sauer P226 laying by the nightstand of her motel bed. "We'll be ready if he show his face this time. On our terms."

"Damn straight." Mike said as he flashed his 9mm Beretta, agreeing with Fran before a solemn and sincere look formed on his face. "And for what it's worth, I hope they find Josh and can find some way to help him. If he isn't too far gone."

"Mike..."

"I'm just saying that-"

"I know what you're saying." she interjected. "I want them to find Josh but part of me is afraid that it's too late for him."

Mike sighed. "I get what you're saying. With Josh, he could be far gone either way. And even if there was a way for him, his life would never be the same again."

"So what do you wanna do in the meantime?" Fran asked

Before Mike could reply, a loud boom is heard shaking the walls of their rooms. A few screams followed by as the booming was getting closer to them, with Fran about to grab her SIG Sauer pistol from the nightstand while Mike brought his 9mm after the screams died out. Suddenly, Mike and Fran were sent flying back when the wall of Fran's motel room burst open. The two saw a large figure take a few steps to present itself, revealing a grotesque and mutated bioweapon. A deformed and elongated head, its bulging eyes milky white and a gaping maw with razor-sharp teeth. It was covered in mottled skin but also muscle-bound, with protruding bones and spikes grown out of its torso. Thick, slimy tendrils that hanged on its back and long clawed fingers on each hand. It stared at the two to see Mike reaching for his gun before the monster kicked him away, crashing back to a wall. Fran grabbed her pistol and fired a few shots at the bioweapon's head, as it slowly turned toward her direction ready to grab her. Before it could, Mike fired off a shot at the back of his head as the gunshot caught its attention leaving Fran to evade the bioweapon and head over to Mike's side.

"We gotta go! Now!" the two ran down the stairs, heading toward a Jeep

"Tell me you got your car keys!" Fran said

Mike assured her with the car lights of the Jeep came on in front of them. "Still do!"

Mike and Fran got inside the Jeep as Mike started it up, fleeing from the bioweapon before it jumped down and threw a car toward them. The Jeep reversed back in time before the two were hit by the imminent hurtle as Mike slammed her foot on the gas pedal, driving away from the creature. The Jeep lurched forward just in time to avoid the creature's lunging attack, leaving Fran to crouch low in the passenger seat from a tendril attack by the bioweapon. The bioweapon itself let out an unearthly scream as it began chasing the Jeep, running at inhuman speed. Mike could see the creature gaining its speed and momentum as it chased them down, heading more closer to them from his rear view mirror.

"This thing is gaining on us!"

Mike gritted his teeth. "I know! Try to keep your head down!"

"I could just shoot it to slow it down!"

"Might do nothing but piss it off. We just need an opportunity"

Mike swerved the Jeep, narrowly avoiding the creature's outstretched claws. He kept driving the Jeep to avoid the bioweapon's attack regardless if they were from its claws or tendrils from its back. Mike glanced out in the distance to see a gas station nearby, as an idea brewed in his head. The Jeep accelerated as the engine roared, going up to maximum miles per hour with the bioweapon increasing its speed the more it ran. Mike and Fran were able to get a detailed view of the gas station, as everything slowed down in their perception by what they saw at the gas stop. To their horror, they saw a dozen of zombies at the gas stop eating on dead human corpses before turning their attention to the sound of Mike's Jeep. The zombies moaned as they saw their next meal arriving. Mike glanced at Fran as she looked back at him with the same mortified expression, before steeling themselves to do what came next. Once the Jeep was near, Mike swerved the Jeep to the right, mowing over two zombies as the living dead were killed by the Jeep's impact. Fran noticed a pump on the floor, pouring out gas as Mike shifted the gear in reverse.

Mike looked to see the bioweapon get closer to the gas station. "Fran!"

Fran pulled out her firearm, narrowing her eyes at the bioweapon to make sure it was at close proximity of the leaking gas pump. Mike kept the Jeep in reverse to get away from the blast radius, with Fran lining up her shot down the sights. As soon as she saw the bioweapon's foot step near the leaking gas pump, she fired off shots at the pump before its foot stepped on the spilling gas fuel. The pump exploded follow by a series of explosions that destroyed the gas station along with the zombies. The gas station itself was up in flames as the zombie bodies burned from the scorching flames.

"Think that thing's dead?"

"Don't plan on staying here to find out. If that gas station was infested with those zombies..." Fran trailed off

"Then it means the whole town is fucked. We need to get Sam and David. Fast." Mike declared, causing the Jeep left the sight of the destroyed gas station as a muscle-bound clawed hand sprung out of the flaming debris
