Treehouse of Horror
Chapter 1: Spooky Season
It was a crisp, peaceful, late-October morning and Lila was on her way to Chip's house.
"Morning!" Lila waved as Chip's mom greeted her. "Is Chip ready? I'm ready to walk to the treehouse with him"
As she said that, Chip rushed over. "Hey Lila!"
Lila bubbled with glee "I got the wagon, Chip! Do you got the you-know-what?"
"Indeed I do." Chip smiled, grabbing a basket of cookies from the kitchen counter. "Linda kept trying to sneak them during the night."
"If they have your sister's stamp of approval, the rest of the gang is gonna love them too!" Lila squealed.
Smiling, Chip put the cookies in the wagon as the two headed to the schoolyard.
It didn't take them too long to see Snoopy pretending to be the World Famous Quarterback as the Barney doll sat on the play structure to observe.
"You've got a very funny dog." Chip laughed.
Lila nodded in confirmation. "And I love the shared-custody agreement Charlie, Sally and I have, too. Now I can see him flourish!"
The two then headed over to the classroom door and entered, seeing Peppermint Patty busy making Halloween garlands with Marcie half asleep and focusing on a book.
"Morning, Pepper. Morning, Marcie." Chip greeted.
"Morning, girls!" Lila chanted, grabbing the basket of cookies and carrying it inside the classroom.
"Morning, ChipFlip! Morning, Lil!" Peppermint Patty smirked.
"Hey guys..." Marcie yawned.
"Check out these pumpkin cookies we made!" Lila happily exclaimed.
"Care for some?" Chip asked.
"I'd love some!" Peppermint Patty smiled.
"No thanks...I don't have much of an appetite this morning..." Marcie yawned.
"You seem a little sleepy" Lila noticed.
"Were ya up reading all night, again?" Peppermint Patty asked with an arched eyebrow.
"No, Sir...I was up half the night helping with the bake sale..." -Marcie replied sleepily.
"Bake sale?!" Lila exclaimed.
"We're gonna be having a bake sale for the Halloween party" Chip explained.
"And we get to make the best sweets ever! Candy apples, cookies, fritters, doughnuts, you name it!" Peppermint Patty happily exclaimed.
"Sounds delicious!" Lila smiled.
"This'll be the best Halloween since last year." Chip smirked.
"What happened last year?" Lila asked.
"Oh, you were out trick or treating. Well, believe it or not..." Peppermint Patty smirked before whispering. "...the Great Pumpkin is real."
Lila gasped. "NO WAY!" she squealed.
"You bet! He gave us bags of candy and tons of toys! And Lucille fainted at the sight of it!" Peppermint Patty smirked.
"Classic Lucy..." Chip muttered.
"So, what're your plans for the rest of the season?" Lila asked.
Peppermint Patty smiled. "Marcie's mom invited my dad and I to join them apple picking, next week. So there's that. Great way to spend a fall day, if you ask me."
"Autumn, Sir..." Marcie replied, trying not to yawn again.
"Fall, autumn, potato, potato." The tomboy shrugged. "It's the same thing, Mars."
"Exactly!" Lila chimed in.
Peppermint Patty:
I like to roll in the leaves,
Feel the cool breeze,
Stuff a scarecrow top to bottom!
Lila:
And you can call it "Fall"

Chip, Lila and Peppermint Patty:

Linus then walked in the classroom with his "WELCOME GREAT PUMPKIN" sign. He gasped at the sight and decided to join in.
Chip:

"That was fun." Lila giggled before looking over and seeing Marcie having dozed off. "Oh dear."
Linus shrugged and wrapped his blanket around Marcie to keep her warm "There we go, nice and warm." He whispered.
"I love your coat, Heather." Charlie Brown cooed as he, Heather and Snoopy entered the classroom. Snoopy carried the Barney doll in his arms.
"Thanks, babe. I love your new scarf. The yellow and black compliment your jacket real nicely." Heather replied.
"The autumn air really brings out your red hair." Charlie Brown added.
"And it also brings out the gold in your hair."
"Ahem?" Chip scoffed playfully.
"Oh, hey everyone!" Heather cheered.
"Did you see Snoopy punt that football around?" Charlie Brown asked.
The tomboy shrugged. "Hard to miss. Check out this garland I made to decorate the classroom."
"It's very creative, Peppermint Patty! I love the colors!" Heather smiled.
"Thanks Heath. But of course, you and Lila love everything." Peppermint Patty smirked.
"What's not to love?" Heather asked with a smile. "I just love all the seasons, even autumn. The colors on the trees are pretty, the air is cool, and it's the perfect time for Halloween!"
"What about you, Barney?" Charlie Brown smiled. Just then, the Barney doll came to amazing life!
"BARNEY!" the kids happily exclaimed, rushing to give him a big hug.
"Hi everybody!" Barney chuckled. "I love all the things about autumn. But my very favorite thing is being with friends like you."
Barney:

"Awwwww, hugs!" Barney chuckled as Heather pulled him into a hug.
"So, want a pumpkin cookie?" asked Lila.
"Yes please." Barney said as Snoopy took a couple cookies.
"Okay!" Charlie Brown smiled.
Heather looked uneasy "Do these have peanuts?"
"No, Heather." Chip confirmed.
"Then I'll take one." Heather smiled.
"Me too!" Linus said. "So, Halloween night, who wants to wait in the pumpkin patch with me?"
Peppermint Patty rolled her eyes. "Nah, we're good, speaking for the gang."
"I wanna join you." Lila smiled.
"You do?!" Linus gasped before shrieking happily, startling Marcie awake.
"Huh? Wha? What?" Marcie grumbled a little before looking over "Oh, hey there..."
Linus waved. "You look tired, Marcie."
"Bake sale." Peppermint Patty, Chip and Lila explained.
"Lucy's doing something for the bake sale too." Linus smiled.
"She is?" Barney bubbled "I can't wait to taste it!"
Out in the schoolyard, Lucy was leading Kristen and Danny to the treehouse "They're so light and fluffy and have the perfect amount of crunchiness." Lucy narrated.
"Can we try one?" Kristen asked.
Lucy shrugged "Don't see why not. I made hundreds of them."
"Hello down there!" Hannah greeted from the lookout.
"Hello, up there!" Kristen and Danny waved as they entered the treehouse.
Lucy smiled "Get ready to have your minds blown!" she announced. She then gasped. Something was VERY wrong.
"I DON'T BELIEVE THIS!" Lucy angrily exclaimed.
"What?" Danny asked.
"All the carrot-peanut cupcakes I made! Gone!" Lucy exclaimed, pointing to an empty tray.
"That's terrible!" Danny exclaimed.
"Who would do such a thing?" Kristen asked, confused.
"Okay, let's be reasonable. Heather hates peanuts. So that crosses her off the list..." Lucy began to think out loud.
"Maybe it was Scooter or Miss Etta" Kristen suggested.
"You DID leave them here in the treehouse overnight." Danny pointed out.
"Miss Etta would never steal someone's food, so it's gotta be Scooter!" Lucy huffed.
"Did someone say my name?" Scooter smiled, popping his head out of the table hole.
"Oh yes we did, Scooter McNutty. We allowed you to stay here and make a home here AND YOU REPAY US BY EATING MY CUPCAKES?!" Lucy hollered.
"Wha, no. I didn't do that. Didn't do that!" Scooter denied.
"How do we believe you?" Lucy glared.
"What if he didn't?" Danny realized.
"Hey guys, what's going on?" BJ asked as he entered while holding Baby Bop's hand.
"Someone ate the cupcakes I left out, last night." Lucy explained.
"Cupcakes? Cupcakes are yummy!" Baby Bop giggled.
"They sure are!" BJ smiled.
Lucy smirked a little "I don't suppose either of you ate them."
"We didn't." BJ explained. "We swear!"
Hannah then slid down the slide. "I can hear you from the lookout."
"Well SOMEONE took my cupcakes!" Lucy bellowed. "And until I know FOR SURE, everyone's a suspect..."
