Chapter 48
A Brother And A Friend (preview)

5th of May 1996
Marauder Chambers
Harry's POV

"I'm not even surprised."

Remus greets me with these words and a kind smile the day after I helped dad get closure with his brother's death.

And while I am sure that the man expects me to just hang out here, where my late father and my dad hung out when they were my age.

Yet I have other ideas.

"I'm not here to hang out, spend time with the twins or even learn more about daddy James, Remus. I'm here for you and Madam Bones."

Instantly I have the man's attention as well as dad's. Yet then I notice that Madam Bones is, unfortunately, missing.

I grimace and ask if she's still at work. Dad nods and Remus asks me why I want to see them. I send him an unimpressed look and pull the Resurrection Stone from my pocket again.

The werewolf's eyes widen.

Dad starts to grin at me in pride.

"I'll go see if she's available."

A few minutes later, thankfully enough, the woman is again seated on the loveseat together with Remus. As she stepped out of the Floo she told us that she has, at best, half an hour before she has an appointment with a client that she can't reschedule.

I simply throw the Resurrection Stone at her and ask: "You guys want me present for this one? I mean, I guess that Remus is going to call on dad and Madam Bones is probably going to call on her brother.

I already had my chance with dad and if I'm being honest, I don't feel close enough to Madam Bones to feel comfortable being present for such a personal thing."

The three adults share a look and then Madam Bones says:

"Just let me go first. I'll summon my brother, get closure, have one of the conversations with him that I've wanted to have for the past few years and then hand the Stone to Remus.

After that I'll head back to make sure I make my meeting and your dad can call you. In the meantime, I think it'd be better if you stay in one of these dorm rooms instead of hanging out outside in the hallway."

I agree to this and gladly move over to one of the few doors in the back wall of the room.

"Third door on the left was your old man's. The one to the right of that was mine." Dad tells me as I head over.

At this I falter and hesitate for a moment. Yet thankfully my heart decides before my mind can make this decision too complicated to properly decide.

I walk into the first aforementioned room.

Hey everyone,
I'm really sorry, but that's all I've been able to write this month. My private life has been Hectic with a capital H (as you can see).
But I also have next week to myself and I intend to dedicate some of that free time to writing as many chapters for this story as possible.
My #1 goal this year is to have this story finished and I will do everything I can to see that goal accomplished before December 31st.
