II Never going to give you up
Well while Mima gave Marisa the info to probably go kill herself in some crazy mission it would be wise to take some practice. Or get killed and have all the information on Mima released, it was a win win situation.
Well at least the map was not outdated, there was a military silo in the middle of the desert. The old lock got broken into rather easily, a click out of one, nothing on two, five is binding and you got the lock open. Lockpicking software made such things easy, well easy when you wrote it yourself.
Marisa saw a few cool surplus items, old guns, night vision goggles, she expected this, she didn't expect a large truck she decided to check that out, it was a piece of ancient history, and as such it was nowhere close to starting. Marisa hence did what she did best and opened the hood, a couple of minutes later she had managed to start the engine, well now she could take quite a lot, this truck was so full of dust that it was probably taken as a loss, well the entire base was.
Time to check the rest of the place and see what else she could find, and well it didn't take her long enough until she found a nuclear warhead, the control deck was the only thing that looked rather recent. Custom made Kappatech control deck, probably this was installed to connect this old yet destructive piece of equipment into their network.
Marisa couldn't help but to open her toolbox and jack into the console, again, she would die in greatness as the angel who tried to steal a nuclear missile, or maybe, just maybe, she was skilled enough to be the angel who actually stole a nuclear warhead.
What would Marisa want a warhead? Well because she could, prove those morons in the big corporations that she in fact had more talent than they could have handled. AOU military security was insanely good, dynamic ICE so thick and complex it even daunted the Loa, the wild AI's that roamed the Matrix.
3, 1, 4, 1, 5, 9, 2, 6, nosebleed, 5, 3, 5, 8, 9, 7, 9, 3, 2, 3, 8, 4, 6, 2, 6, 4, 3, 3, 8, 3, 2, 7, 9, 5, 0, 2, 8, 8, 4, 1, 9, 7, 1, 6, 9, 3, 9, 9, 3, 7, 5, 1, 0, Marisa felt how her left arm began to numb, 5, 8, 2, 0, 9, 7, 4, 9, 4, 4, 5, 9, 2, 3, 0, 7, 8, 1, 6, 4, 0, 6, 2, 8, 6, 2, 0, 8, 9, 9, 8, 6, 2, 8, 0, 3, 4, 8, 2, 5, 3, 4, 2, 1, 1, 7, 0, 6, 7, 9, 8, 2, 1, 4, the defensive AI kept prodding, 8, 0, 8, 6, 5, 1, 3, 2, 8, 2, 3, 0, 6, 6, 4, 7, 0, 9, 3, 8, 4, 4, 6, 0, 9, 5, 5, 0, 5, 8, 2, 2, 3, 1, 7, 2, 5, 3, 5, 9, 4, 0, 8, 1, 2, 8, 4, her breathing stopped, she had to continue, 8, 1, 1, 1, 7, 4, the mother of all migraines, as if her entire brain was being blended up, 5, 0, 2, 8, 4, 1, 0, 2, 7, 0, 1, 9, 3, blood dripped from her ears, 8, 5, 2, 1, 1, 0, 5, 5, 5, 9, 6, 4, 4, 6…
Marisa was in, she was past the ICE, her head palpitated, her fingernails had cut into her palms, but she was in. Her first serious incursion and she was in. The construct inside of the ICE was not meant for human eyes, each face on the surface was exactly that, a surface, looking at it developed more surfaces even then, a multidimensional space.
Marisa grabbed a copy of Never gonna give you up from her memory, she placed it where the largest chunk of information was swimming in the moving surface, she grabbed the chunk, her mind gave it a blue shine, a lock that opened on her hand. Marisa then decided to disconnect. Kappatech ICE went both ways, so the way out was just as painful, a little easier, Marisa's mind was clearer now that she didn't have the fear of death in her, after all she survived it once, she could survive it again.
Marisa gasped for air once she disconnected, she slapped her left hand around until she could feel it again, her entire body had begun to shut down, her brain was thinking on a single thing when she came in, and kept doing it that way before the defense systems caught the residual noise basic human survival does in cyberspace.
A bit of blood off from her nose and ears. But she was still sane, this was more than most could have said. Marisa thus loaded the missile onto the truck, the security key was now the lyrics to the song, and singing it would make the computer respond.
Marisa drove off as if she was supposed to be there, she had no idea where she would take it, maybe hide it in the middle of the desert, probably in one of the forgotten smuggling caves that were used almost a century ago.
Well she also had to get a CT scan, make sure she had not caused herself an aneurism. She bribed the doctor with an old dusty M15 rifle, of course she stole it from the facility, the guy collected ancient weapons and well the only way you could get a piece that intact is finding one inside of a bunker, the way Marisa did.
Well her brain was surprisingly well, not even a mild concussion. Well at least her brain knew how to protect itself, the heart and the lugs could be changed for new ones, but the brain was unique.
A week later someone unexpected knocked at her door, it was Mima, she had the job plan. She was to go to the Sprawl, Marisa took the paper file, probably Mima wrote it this way because Marisa would prod into the metadata of anything digital that was given to her.
A run inside a police station, rob a personal computer, awfully simple, considering what Marisa just stole a few days ago. Marisa ate the piece of paper.
"Smart girl" Said Mima "I give you all the time you need to prepare"
"Tomorrow? I think it's better if I bite the bullet with my dad sooner, he's not going to like this" She laughed, she was more nervous than before this time.
That night over dinner Marisa and her dad were watching TV and drinking a beer, well it was a projector they had hooked up to a streaming service. "I got a new gig" Said Marisa, when the movie got slow.
"You finally found your big break? Who are you working for?"
"It's freelance" Said Marisa
He sipped his own beer "You know I don't like freelance, most of the time they want you for corporate espionage"
"Well it's freelance, I have to start somewhere" Marisa finished her beer "I need to pack up, I leave tomorrow morning"
"Not until you tell me what the job is"
Marisa tried to laugh it off "It's repo alright? They want me to repo a custom computer"
"Repo?" her father seemed offput by that "Who hired you? You are making it sound like a hacker run"
"Oh come on, the money is good, we could finally get a decent scanner with that" Marisa was no longer looking at the TV, neither was her dad.
"You want to steal a computer using some flimsy ICE burner thing?! You are better than that"
"Of course" Marisa said with a smile "I am not a hacker"
Finally her father calmed down "Good, then go do your repo job"
"I'm an angel" Marisa couldn't stop herself, she was much better than what cowboys did. Well Marisa couldn't pick the worst time to say that.
The transmission broke, the projector began to sound an alarm.
Marshal law is enacted immediately, this is not a drill, remain calm, marshal law is neacte…
Marisa turned off the projector.
"What the fuck did you do?!" Her father smashed the beer bottle against the ground
Marisa took a step back.
"Mauricio seriously?! You could have died, angels never life past 30!"
"Some do, and Marisa Kirisame will!"
"Fucking leave before you get me into this mess too… Die young if you want. I could deal with the transgender crap but not this"
Marisa packed as much as she could, then left that house, she knew there was no returning. She was going to the Sprawl, maybe she'd die old maybe not, but it would be there.
