"Beep beep bee-" I turn off my alarm and prepare myself for the day, planting my feet on the ground from my bed, I stand up, only to immediately fall down again. My entire body aches like I had just run a marathon, clenching my teeth I start gripping a railing and walk over to the shower. I notice bruises across my body and squint at the mirror. "It looks like more bruises than when I checked last night", after a few more seconds of staring at the mirror I ignore it and chalk it up to bad memory. The cold water helps with the pain. Despite my bizarre morning I start getting ready for university, because of my less-than-stellar grades I was unable to get into a university near me. I now have to take public transportation for a total of 4 hours a day just to arrive on campus.

Usually, whenever I arrive on campus I always have my head down, hands shoved in my pocket, and try to keep to myself. Not today. Blocking the entrance to the university were police officers, security vehicles, an ambulance, yellow tape, and other students who were expecting their highest shock to be a pop quiz. It's hard to make out but...it looks like they're surrounding a body lying on the ground, I can't make out who it is since they're covered in a white tarp. A white tarp with numerous blood stains. "EVERYONE PLEASE FOLLOW PERSONNEL THROUGH THE SECONDARY DOORS INTO THE GYMNASIUM" an officer with a blowhorn announces. I get in line as well as other students eventually do the same, finally putting their cell phones away, "a bloody body found in front of your school and your fucking instinct is to make sure you get a good story for your socials", I think to myself.

Arriving in the gymnasium with hundreds of other students, we all turn our attention to a woman with grey hair, wearing a suit. "I'm sure you're all confused and worried about what is going on. Rest assured the authorities are handling the situation and ensuring safety. Last night one of your peers was found lying unconscious in front of the university, rest assured he is alive and is being rushed to the hospital as we speak. I'm sure you all are aware of this student, he's on our school volleyball team and is the president of the Lit club, Luke".
