Fuuka's Last Kiss
Chapter XXXII - Treason - Part III
If anyone who criticises my way of life were to come forward, I'd turn around and kill every single one of their loved ones, so that they too can grasp what it's like… to experience this hatred of mine." - Sasuke Uchiha
"And?"
"We searched the whole area around the fish market; No sign of her."
"What about the other teams?"
"Nothing either."
"She can't hide forever. Bring in the rafts of the boats and then keep looking! We have to find her!"
"Yes, Sir!"
Dozens of Ninjas roamed the streets of Uzushiogakure in search of the fugitive Uzumaki. The village was surrounded by a forested mountain landscape and a fast river. Behind it was a tropical rainforest. These natural protective barriers made it very difficult for enemies to enter the village, who had to fight through rock, water and mosquitoes to reach the village. But that was also the case the other way around; Leaving Uzushiogakure unnoticed was just as difficult as entering it unseen. And Fuuka had to get out of here. Since Ashina had now decided to finally get rid of the insufferable troublemaker and had even thought up a scenario for this purpose with which he could discredit her entirely and justify her exclusion from the village community, there was nothing left for her here - except one thing...
It was all set-up – from the start. The clan head was certainly also behind the Anbu from Kirigakure, who had mysteriously managed to infiltrate the village. Or he was simply taking advantage of this circumstance that presented itself to him to get rid of her. Be that as it may; Ashina found Fuuka not only harmful, but her existence and presence even corrosive. As a representative of the clan, she served as a role model; whether she wanted to or not. Whether she was aware of this or not. The villagers, especially the adolescents - Uzushio's future - were not allowed to be influenced by her self-centered ego and her lecherous nature, especially in these unstable times of conflict, when each and every one of them was, in Ashina's opinion, essential for the continued existence and power of the Land of Whirlpools. The concerns of the village community had to come first - before the interests and needs of individuals. But the real reason he despised her so much was that Fuuka represented everything Ashina Uzumaki did not stand for, but that the old man secretly desired; Independence, non-conformity and youth - at least that was the opinion of the Kunoichi.
Fuuka had grown up in this village. She knew the best hiding places and loopholes, but if she stayed in Uzushio, it would only be a matter of time before she would be found. If she stayed here, sooner or later she would be tracked down and captured. If she fled, the woman's name and face would be printed on every single Bingo Book of the village and a band of bounty hunters would be after her. So what to do? Despite the less than promising options she faced, the answer to that question was pretty clear to Fuuka, if it weren't for this one thing...
"There she is!" a Shinobi shouted after spotting her despite the darkness of the night and the shadows of the narrow alley where Fuuka was hiding. Pointing his finger at her, he directed his comrades in her direction.
After an annoyed "tzz," Fuuka ran down the alley and away from her pursuers. Four Shinobi were hot on her heels. Before she reached the exit of the alley, two more Uzushio-Ninjas appeared in front of her and blocked her path to the street. Fuuka then dodged into another side alley between them in order to evade her pursuers. Her relentless hunters joined forces and turned down the same side path, but then stopped abruptly instead of continuing the run; Fuuka seemed to have been swallowed up by the earth because she wasn't there anymore...
"Where is she?" one of the Shinobi asked in surprise, but received no answer from his no less surprised companions.
"She was just here," another added, stating the obvious.
The masked shadow warriors looked around helplessly. Then two of them slowly moved forward, expecting a possible ambush from the Kunoichi. They noticed two clay jars that were stacked on top of each other close to a wall which could have provided enough cover for a person of their target's stature to hide. They nodded to each other after grabbing their Kunai knives, preparing for the encounter. The two Shinobi approached the jars. Three other Shinobi from the group who had stayed behind also moved to support their comrades in time if necessary; Fuuka was, after all, the sister of the infamous Hasura Uzumaki, which alone was reason enough to exercise caution and not underestimate her, after all she could have copied one or two tricks from the Jonin. Fuuka's individual Ninja skills and talents were largely unknown to them - and most others in the village. At least from the time she left the Ninja academy behind and became a Genin; a rank that she hold to this day. But their caution didn't pay off: the two Shinobi in the vanguard furrowed their brows, protected by a purple headband, as a small snake with bright yellow, scaly skin rose up from the spot where they were expected the woman to hide. The snake returned their confused look with a defiant hiss of its own. But that wasn't the only surprise for the Ninjas, and by far not the most unpleasant one:
"Lightning-Style: Electric Needle Spark!"
Before the Shinobi could react and dodge the hand that suddenly protruded from the wall and reached for him, blue-white light storms were already stabbing his body like needles.
"AAAAARGH!"
His comrade next to him - acting out of reflex and concern for his fellow comrade - pulled the attacked Shinobi from the wall in order to bring him to safety and to be able to strike back, but instead he directed Fuuka's lightning bolts over the body of his tormented friend unintentionally on himself, so that he too let out cries of pain. Both Shinobi then hit the opposite wall with their heads - defeated and incapacitated. In response, the supporting trio simultaneously threw their throwing daggers at the hand that continued to protrude from the wall, but it became one with the concrete again before the Kunai could hit it.
"That damn bitch," said one of the Shinobi after his eyes fell on their unconscious fellows. They had actually been instructed to draw as little attention as possible to this matter. Conflicts of this kind, within the village, between members of the village, were the last thing Ashina Uzumaki wanted to see. It was important to appear cohesive both internally and externally; for the morale of its own population in times of conflict with external powers, but especially because Uzushiogakure's enemies could see weakness in this. But Fuuka didn't seem to have felt much need to pay much attention to Ashina's concerns and instructions - even if she had known about them.
"Hahahahahaha."
Dull, sinister laughter came from the walls. The three Shinobi moved together to cover each other. Back to back, they observed their surroundings – mindful and concentrated. The Kunoichi's amused laughter, which reached their ears at increasingly shorter intervals, seemed to make them increasingly nervous, but they still managed to keep their composure. After all, they were Shinobi; Learning to remain calm in such situations had been part of their training. But their focus was still affected by Fuuka's psychological manipulation attempts, which is why they noticed her reappearance when it was already too late: Fuuka held a Kunai to the throat of the Shinobi, who they had left alone to cut off her path of escape; a tactic that had apparently failed. The trio turned in their direction, still in an offensive fighting stance.
"Release him!" ordered one of the Ninjas.
Fuuka smiled mischievously.
"I will eliminate anyone who dares to stand in my way," replied the woman in a threatening, confident tone, who was already considered a de facto Nuke-Nin - her white headband with the swirl emblem, engraved on its metal plate, could not hide this fact. Still pressing her knife against his bare neck, two of her fingers slipped under the mask of the Shinobi at her mercy. She pulled the shawl down a little before her lips approached his cheek. The man's brown eyes widened as the woman's tongue darted out and stroked his skin.
"W-What are you doing?" stuttered the Shinobi with a nervous voice, who audibly seemed to be a few years younger than Fuuka herself - although not much younger.
"Hmm, sweet... Judging the taste of your Chakra pouring out of your skin, it could be the Fire-Element. Or maybe lightning?"
She seemed thoughtful as she tried to correctly interpret and classify the taste on her tongue. As her prisoner tried to wriggle out of his predicament and discomfort, she pressed the cold metal of her weapon harder against his throat.
"Urgh.", it escaped from the whirlpool Ninja's throat.
"I'm not quite sure - unfortunately. Maybe another taste will help."
Once again she licked the man's skin who was unable to resist the wet advances.
"Hmmm – apparently it is indeed the Lightning-Element. I am convinced. And disappointed; I already have that element in my possession, sweetie-pie."
When he noticed that the blade on his neck was retreating slightly as Fuuka appeared momentarily distracted, he suddenly threw his head back. The back of his head hit the woman's face.
"Ahh!"
Stumbling backwards and sustaining a bloody nose, the Uzumaki woman dropped her Kunai. She touched her nose and stared at the blood pouring out of it.
"You hurt me!" she cursed, before her angry look in her dark blue eyes turned away from her hand and focused on the Shinobi who had just headbutted her. Her face was completely contorted with anger - so much so that the many wrinkles that ran like trenches across her face made her look much older.
"HOW DARE YOU DESECRATE MY BODY!"
Fuuka threw herself at the Shinobi in anger. Surprised by the speed of her punches, he fell back while trying to block her blows and punches. Too preoccupied with her fists and protecting his head, the Uzushio-Nin didn't see what was coming from further down; Fuuka lifted her left leg and pressed her knee deep into his abdomen. The man stumbled and then fell to the ground, completely overwhelmed by Fuuka's Tai-Jutsu skills. But the woman wasn't finished with him yet; shortly after the Shinobi fell to the ground, the Kunoichi kicked his stomach hard with the bottom of her feet.
"ARGH!"
The man's eyes widened in pain. Then his eyelids closed and he also lost consciousness.
"You don't have the slightest idea how to treat women," Fuuka remarked as the blood began to dry on her upper lip.
"I hope you've learned your lesson now," she added. Her posture was vain as she directed her smug gaze at the three Shinobi still standing.
"When I heard that a Uzumaki woman had betrayed the village, I couldn't believe it..." one of them began to speak. "But now that I see it with my own eyes, I will never doubt Ashina's words again."
"Ashina here, Ashina there..." she said as the Kunoichi rolled her eyes. "I have nothing to do with these people from the Hidden Mist. The only crime I've committed is that I did not voluntarily submit to some leader I did not choose."
One of the Shinobi seemed to want to respond, but his comrades seemed less interested in having a conversation with the rogue Kunoichi, who had already injured three of their comrades and clearly signaled that she would not hold back.
"Traitor!" one of the Ninjas said before charging forward. The other two Shinobi then followed him into the confrontation with the Uzumaki woman. Fuuka, however, didn't move from the spot. Keeping a hand on her hip, she answered the Uzushio-Nin's onslaught with a grin. However, just before the Shinobi reached her, she gave them another answer:
"Lightning-Style: Earth Flash!"
The woman spread her fingers – shortly after the air crackled betweem them. Lightning then discharged from her hands, which first hit the ground in front of her feet and from there shot towards the still charging Shinobi. The lightning storm was so dense that the men could not avoid it, and too fast for them to jump to the blue rooftops and escape the electrical storm. However, one of the Shinobi reacted in time and used the only option available to him in this situation; he bent his legs to place his gloved hands flat on the floor:
„Water-Style: Storm Upheaval!"
Suddenly, water flooded the narrow alley, flowing from the roofs around them. The floods intercepted Fuuka's lightning bolts while electrically charging the water - Fuuka had unintentionally reinforced the technique directed against her opponents with her own Jutsu. An electrified wave was now in danger of catching her and washing her away.
Clever – I have to remember that.
Fuuka, however, had the opportunity to dodge as the water moved slower than her now canceled lightning bolts. She jumped onto one of the roofs – but one of the Shinobi was already waiting for her. The masked man seemed to think he had the advantage, which is why he jumped at her as soon as Fuuka's feet touched the blue bricks, but before his Kunai could cut her, she skillfully dodged her attacker - something he didn't seem to think was possible or at least very unlikely; He ran the risk of losing his balance on the sloping edge of the roof, slipping and falling into the new stream floating in the middle of the village. He waved his arms in the air, hoping to balance his body and keep himself dry. The Shinobi might have succeeded if it hadn't been for Fuuka; With a completely neutral expression, Fuuka placed her hand on his chest to ensure his demise. She didn't even have to push him - the weight of her hand was enough to unbalance him. The Ninja's blue eyes widened in shock before he fell down and was caught in the water.
"AARGH!"
A short scream, followed by a muffled groan, as well as flashes of lightning and smoke - then his body followed the calm flow of the charged water downstream. The other two Shinobi that remained conscious stood on the opposite roof. Their eyebrows were drawn together - they were starring at the woman; visibly angry.
"Which one of you would like to be touched by me next?" she asked mockingly and with a seductive tone, her long maroon-coloured hair blowing in the wind.
"I know; you must feel rejected."
"You'll regret this."
Fuuka turned her back on them and jumped onto the nearest roof - apparently she was about to escape again, or at least change the scene of the battle.
"You can't escape us!"
Pursued by the two Shinobi, Fuuka moved from house to house, building to building, over the heads of the sleeping population. However, as expected, the previous fight had brought more Ninjas to the scene, who became aware of the fight, so that the number of her opponents increased. Fuuka was talented, but she couldn't fight her way out of the village all alone. She ran the risk of being surrounded from all sides and ultimately overwhelmed. To her right, Fuuka spotted a squad of Anbu - their beastly masks facing her direction. There were two whole blocks between them, but if they wanted to, they could have engaged her by now. To her left, Fuuka also noticed another group of Uzushio-Nin, and the two Shinobi from before were also still behind her.
For once, Fuuka didn't enjoy being the center of attention and attract the gazes of many men.
Her eyes looked forward again; Fuuka was led in a certain direction, a trap - possibly. If she continued to run in that direction she would end up in the Silk Quarter; a quarter on the edge of the village - directly under the shadow of the mountains. From there it was virtually impossible to escape the village. And she suspected that Mito Uzumaki would already be waiting for her there; Even Hasura didn't had a chance against her. Hasura...
Her thoughts turned to her little brother; the only thing that still mattered to her here, in the village. The only thing that still caused doubts in her mind. Distracted for a fraction of a moment by her own thoughts, she heard the distinctive sound of those Shuriken cutting through the air far too late; the iron stars pierced her naked back.
"AAARGH!"
Blood spurted from her body and the disgraced Kunoichi fell from the blue rooftops.
