It's been a week since Rosalie has begun her new arrangement with Evan and she has to admit that it is the best thing they could've ever come up with. While during the day they are just as they have always been with each other, at night it's a different story.
After that first night together, they had talked and decided that they would only do it whenever they felt as if they absolutely needed it. Well, that was easier said than done, since they have spent every night of the past week together.
Rosalie can still feel Evan's lips on hers, his hands roaming her body just as he had done that morning before she left, and the memories are enough to make her blush. She is pulled from her far from innocent thoughts when she hears the unmistakable sound of a jumper approaching.
Looking towards the place where the jumper landed, Rosalie watches as Sheppard and Ronon make their way to where she is standing, the artifact that she has been looking at for the last ten minutes, but not really seeing, still in her hand.
Rosalie has been off-world for the good part of a day, along with a group of scientists, searching an Ancient outpost and cataloging it, as well as looking for any clues that might lead them to a new ZPM.
-"Hey Doc. How's it going?" - Sheppard greets her.
-"Sheppard, Ronon. It's going well. We actually found a few interesting things. Would you like to see them?"
-"Sure."
Sheppard shrugs as he answers, before telling Ronon to keep an eye out. Sure, they had scout the planet before Weir gave the go ahead for the scientists to go through this Ancient outpost, but that doesn't mean they should let their guard down. There was a reason why Rosalie had been adamant in bringing her Staff weapon with her. You just never know.
Following Rosalie through the corridor that leads them underground, Sheppard thinks that for an Ancient outpost, the Ancients sure went low tech with the construction of it. Instead of the usual Atlantean design, they were now walking through corridors that were carved directly through the ground making it look more like a cave then an Ancient outpost.
Rosalie stops ahead of him and shows him what she believes are clues carved onto the wall to where a ZPM might be hidden. Sheppard has to admit that seeing the excitement on her face is enough to get him excited about the possibility of finding said ZPM.
Suddenly, the walls around them start to shake and Sheppard's first reaction is to cover Rosalie from the debris that starts falling from the ceiling.
-"You okay?"
-"Yes, thank you."
-"What was that?"
-"Yeah, I should've warned you about that. Ever since we arrived that we have been experiencing these tremors. They started by being small enough and sparse enough that we didn't really worry about them, but for the last couple hours or so they have been increasing in intensity and number. That's why we're working as fast as we can to gather as much information we can before we have to abandon the outpost."
-"With all due respect, Doc, you should just grab what you have and leave, before someone gets hurt."
-"It's not that simple, but we're going as fast as we can."
Sheppard doesn't have time to try to convince her otherwise. Another tremor starts, and this one is bigger than the first. Sheppard hears something and when he looks up, he sees that a large piece of rock is about to fall exactly where Rosalie is standing.
Pulling Rosalie close to his chest, he pushes them against the wall behind him and places his body between her and the rock, protecting her once again from the debris that comes flying when the rock hits the ground.
It takes a few seconds for the dust to settle around them, but when it does, both Sheppard and Rosalie know that if he hadn't shove her against the wall, she wouldn't be alive right now.
-"I think it's time to go, Doc." - Sheppard tells Rosalie, looking down at her.
-"Yeah, can't really argue with that."
Sheppard follows Rosalie out as fast as they can, Rosalie shouting to the few scientists that are still inside to grab everything they can carry and make their way out, picking up a small crate as she goes, with Sheppard following suit.
Once up top, he places the crate next to the others and walks over to Ronon, who asks him what happened. Sheppard quickly tells him and starts grabbing crates and taking them to the jumper.
As he is about to dial Atlantis and inform Elizabeth that they need a couple more jumpers to transport everyone, as well as the crates, he can't help but think that Lorne would've killed him if anything had happened to Rosalie while he was there.
