Chapter 7: Teamwork
Velocity's feet pounded into the medbay as she grabbed a syringe and filled it with a liquid. Hurrying back, she injected it into Silk.
The youngling convulsed for a moment before finally going still, her optics flickering white.
"Is she ok!?"
"I think so. It was some kind of seizure. Hound, help me get her to the medbay."
The mech came over, gently picking up the youngling as the humans stared in shock. "That was unexpected."
"No kidding." Nautica sighed. "I thought she was doing better."
"Her optics were white." Star Saber mused. "Maybe she had a vision. The last time she had one she was hooked up to a psychic patch."
"That could be it."
In the medical bay, Velocity hooked the youngling up to a monitor, watching her vitals. They seemed stable for now.
"Gah!" Silk jolted awake, causing the medic's own sparkrate to spike.
"You're alright. You're fine…"
The youngling panted, her hand going to her spark.
It pulsed erratically under her touch.
"I-I saw an oracle…"
The pulse inside her spiked again.
"Saber thought that might be the case. You don't have to say what it was if you don't want to." The medic eyed the vitals monitor out of the corner of her eye, hoping the youngling's sparkrate wouldn't go too high. "You're safe, so no need to fear the oracles any longer. We won't force you to tell us, if you don't want to."
Silk offlined her optics, feeling overtaken by panic as the oracle's events flooded her processor again.
Her sparkrate spike again.
Screaming.
Explosions.
Humans shooting weapons, but being eviscerated on the spot.
Tall shadows-
Familiar silhouettes-
Towering over their bodies.
"Humans are in trouble…"
"What?"
"I saw them. They were attacking humans." She brought her optics back online, staring at the stone ceiling. "The humans fought back, but they couldn't stop Slipstream and the others."
"Hold on." Running outside, she grabbed the wheelchair and ran it back in. "Can you sit up?"
"I-I think so…"
Gently moving the youngling back into the chair, she wheeled her outside. "Silk told me she saw a vision of Team Stream attacking humans."
"What!?"
Silk looked at Elita who smiled softly, but her optics looked concerned. "If you want to, please tell us details, so we can stop them."
"The humans fought back."
"All of them?"
"Yes."
Ayal hopped into his chair. "Probably a military instillation then. Either that or some militia in the middle of nowhere."
"There were explosions." She shuddered as she recalled them. Specifically, one. "One was blue."
"That narrows it down!" Titilayo grinned. "How many military instillations are by Energon mines?"
"There's one in Canada. And that's about it. We've kept most mines sealed off and under surveillance. That's the only one that has active military presence."
"Oh yeah, little Tagan Heights." Hound looked back. "I know the commander there."
Silk cocked her head to the side. "Why?"
Velocity knelt beside her. "Well, the humans are trying to find ways to use Energon as a new fuel source. So, that place is near where those experiments are happening. It's an active mine, so it needs protection."
"Not to mention, I go over there every year to kick aft in a poker tournament against the senior staff there."
"Hound, not the time."
Elita tapped her chin. "We need to evacuate the base. If we're seen attacking alongside a military unit, Slipstream might attack civilian humans because of that."
"We'd rather they just come after the four of us." Titilayo smirked as Marissa and Dante nodded.
"I'll make the call." Ayal turned around. "Then let's kick some Con butt!"
"Titi," Nautica grinned, "want to set some traps for them."
"Yes oo!"
"Primus, humans are stupid." Blackjack kicked a military jeep over. "Shadow's intel said this was a military place. And they just leave it empty?"
No.
Slipstream looked around.
Shadow's intel would have informed them if the location was abandoned.
"This is a trap!"
BOOM!
The jeeps parked nearby exploded, energon mixing with gasoline.
Nautica ran out, hand cupped. As she hurried closer, she took the human in her hand and slid her across the ground, under the two Decepticons.
Her suit built for such things, Titi pulled out two bombs, throwing them at the legs of their adversaries as slid under them. She rolled out of the slide and ran, her suit allowing her to move even faster as she ran to a set of concrete barriers and vaulted over them, taking cover as she pulled out her pistol.
"There you are."
A bridge opened and the rest of Team Stream entered the battlefield.
"Take cover!"
Nautica ran as Hotlink came after her.
SCREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
The loudspeakers of the military base let out a whine, causing everyone to freeze as their brains and processors flinched.
"Ladies and gentlemen, mechs and femmes, Bots and Cons, it's a pleasure to see you all here. Sorry to say, Team Stream is requested to leave the premises, or we'll be forced to wipe the floor with you."
Titi looked over to where she could see Ayal, his suit and comlink currently jacked into the loudspeaker system, grinning like the mad hatter.
"Destroy everyone here!" Slipstream grinned, shooting one of the speakers.
"Well, you were warned."
Unhooking from the speakers, he pulled some batons that sparked with electricity from his long "Matrix"-like coat and slid next to Titilayo.
"Ready?"
"Yallah."
Out from cover, the rest of the Autobots, with Dante and Marissa in tow, came out from cover.
Elita ran toward Slipstream, a large Warhammer in her grasp.
"Elita One!?" She laughed as the femme swung at her. "I should've guessed. And this must mean that Silk Spinner lives. You wouldn't have known about this without her."
Elita clashed with Slipstream, glaring at the seeker. "You won't touch her again!"
"We'll see about that!"
Hound and Marissa found Flamewar back on their tails. "Back for more?"
"I could say the same for you two."
Dante slipped around, gunning directly for Sunstorm.
And the Con waited for him. "The tiny heretic! Perish!"
"Not happening." His legs carried him forward, amplified by the suit as he ran forward. A grin crossed his face as he heard the crack of Moon's sniper rifle giving him cover.
"Ah, it's an honor to face off with the 'greatest swordsman in the universe'." Blackjack drew his own blade as he charged Star Saber. "Though, can't believe you decided to stay on this rock. Waste of your talents."
Not wasting a response on him, Saber charged, slashing with lightning speed at the Decepticon.
"Hey! Look over here!" Kup grabbed Hotlink's leg as he continued to pursue Nautica, dragging the seeker to the ground. "I'd like to have a word with you."
"I don't want to waste my time on an old timer like you!" Turning his flamethrowers on the old mech, they charged up.
Only for an electric current to course through his shoulder.
"The man said he wanted a word." Ayal leaped back as Hotlink swung his arm. "I'd listen to him."
"INSECT!"
"Careful, this insect stings." His batons crackled with electricity.
"And this old timer knows how to put a young punk like you in his place!" Kup grabbed one of the flamethrowers, trying to bend it backwards.
Titilayo came out of her cover, firing at Shadow Striker as the femme went to attack Elita. Turning her attention to the human, she snarled. "So, you're the one who set the trap?"
"I'm good at what I do."
"We both are." With Hotlink off her tail, Nautica slid next to her best friend.
"Then show me."
Silk sat in the wheelchair, listening, her hands gripped the chair so tight the metal began to creak.
"It'll be alright." Velocity put a hand on her head. "We evacuated the base, and our team can handle them." She smiled. "We still will not force you to share any of those visions you have with us, but I hope you know how many lives you saved today."
Saved.
The youngling processor flashed back to the dead bodies she saw.
Those lives she'd helped end.
But this time, she saved them.
"Decepticons, fall back." Slipstream snarled.
They'd need a better strategy than this.
Team Stream retreated into a ground bridge as the Autobots regrouped.
"Guess we better clean up the base." Hound sighed. "Commander Adelynn is a stickler for things being clean, and let me tell you, she will let us have it if we don't fix this up."
"So, let's get cleaning."
"We could've taken them!"
"Perhaps," Slipstream sat down in the captain's chair of their ship, looking out the front into the darkness of their hidden location, "but now we have more intel that can be useful. We now know their commander is Elita, and that all Energon mines are under watch. Shadow Striker, what did the humans have on the energon they were mining?"
"Nothing about Cybertron. It looks like the humans are trying to use it as a renewable energy source."
"Boring." Blackjack groaned. "What about those four humans that were with the Autobots?"
The one-eyed femme nodded. "I'll begin researching them. They were all trained in combat and knew how to hold their own against a Decepticon."
Rubbing his shoulder which still hurt from the powerful electric shock that Ayal gave it, Hotlink grumbled. "I'd like to squish them under my foot."
Slipstream tapped her chair, staring off into the darkness beyond the windows.
Priority one… find the Autobot's base and Silk Spinner.
Perhaps for now, they should lay in wait?
Watching.
