Preface: Before I start with "Through Dangerous Times", which is officially underway, I wanted to share this idea that I had going for a long time after watching a certain episode of Power Rangers Jungle Fury and thought this concept: What if RJ had his wolf spirit stolen instead of Casey losing his tiger spirit? What events would play out? Thus, this story was born. I had this story written before but deleted it for some reason. Well, here it is again.

Might contain angsty RJ whump. Casey and Master Finn might also get involved. This is gonna be fun. For the record, this is not in my canon when it comes to the Jungle Fury timeline and continuity, I just wrote this story for fun.

Wolves Fall, Lions Rise

Chapter One

Camille was watching Dai Shi talking to the Phantom Beasts. She had always admired her master despite how he treated her. On this particular day, Camille was feeling creative, thinking she could impress Dai Shi with a plan that she had in mind for the Power Rangers.

"Whiger, the red ranger has the spirit of the tiger, as do you," Dai Shi addressed one of the Phantom Beasts, "that's one tiger too many. Prove yourself worthy, and destroy him."

"Um," Camille stepped forward, speaking up, "if I may, why do you intend to go after the red ranger exactly?"

"The red ranger is the leader, Camille," Dai Shi answered, "if he falls, the team falls."

"True," Camille nodded, "but if you eliminate the red ranger, the wolf master can easily pick up where he left off. Don't forget, red ranger is still a cub, and the wolf ranger is a master. It won't weaken the team for long but if you eliminate the wolf master, the rest of the team will eventually fall, including the red ranger."

"I like your idea," Dai Shi replied before facing Whiger, "Go and eliminate the wolf master."

"Yes, Dai Shi." Whiger responded.

-Jungle-Fury-

RJ looked on as Casey was jogging with him. The Wolf Master could tell he appeared to have something on his mind, which was troubling him.

"A little quiet today, my friend," RJ spoke up, "got something on your mind?"

"Yeah," Casey explained, "there's this bully in my class picking on another kid. I'm afraid if I step in too much, I'll just escalate the situation, but if I don't step in, the weaker kid is going to get hurt."

"Ah, but who is weaker?" RJ replied, "the kid getting picked on, or the bully who bullies trying to cover up his own feelings of weakness?"

Casey couldn't help but to grin, "Anyone ever tell you you're smart, RJ?"

"Yes," RJ answered with a smile, "I tell myself that everyday. Race you to the cliff."

He looked on as Casey took off, sprinting his way to the cliff, "Too easy."

-Jungle-Fury-

Casey made his way to a hill, and caught his breath before he looked up and smiled, "He is smart."

-Jungle-Fury-

RJ looked around, and noted how long it had been since he allowed Casey a head start in the little race.

"I think I allowed Casey the win," RJ said to himself, "better get to the cliff to congratulate him."

"Ranger!" a voice shouted from out of nowhere. Before RJ could make a move, the figure pinned him to the ground. RJ looked to see that this must be a Phantom Beast. He didn't have time to react as the phantom beast pressed itself on RJ's chest and he felt his animal spirit being taken from him.

"Hey!" Casey shouted, leaping in action, fully morphed. He grabbed the phantom beast and they both fell off the cliff, leaving RJ to come to terms with what just happened.

-Jungle-Fury-

Casey leapt forward and faced the Phantom Beast that took RJ's wolf spirit from him.

"Spirit of the White Tiger!" the Phantom Beast posed.

"You have the spirit of the tiger!" Casey exclaimed. That baffled him a bit more since this Phantom Beast took RJ's wolf spirit. This just didn't make sense, unless Dai Shi told him to.

The two tigers fought one on one.

"What did you do to RJ's wolf spirit?!" Casey demanded in between blows.

"It is mine now," the Phantom Beast answered before he knocked him down to the ground, "Dai Shi will be pleased."

He knew it! Dai Shi did indeed send this phantom beast to take his mentor's wolf spirit. But why?

Before he could make another move, the phantom beast disappeared from sight.

Casey hurried to the cliff and powered down as he met with RJ, who was now back on his feet and his hand was clutching his chest.

"It was a Phantom Beast," Casey told his mentor, "he has a tiger spirit like mine. It doesn't make sense."

He paused before looking at RJ, "Are you okay?"

"Yeah," RJ nodded, "been better."

-Jungle-Fury-

RJ was sitting on his chair, exhausted as Casey, Lily, Theo and Dominic were surrounding him.

"I can't believe you were attacked by a phantom beast out of nowhere." said Dominic.

"I can't believe he has a tiger spirit just like Casey." Lily added.

"I can't believe that same phantom beast took RJ's wolf spirit." Theo chimed in.

"I don't know why," RJ muttered, "but yes, he took a wolf out of my tank."

"Can you...still..." Dominic tried asking, realizing he'd get an obvious answer.

"From what I saw," RJ stood up, "the phantom beast took my wolf spirit."

He proceeded to try to call upon his animal spirit.

"Spirit of the Wolf!"

No response.

"Spirit of the Wolf!"

Again, no response.

"See?" RJ told the other rangers, "Nothing."

"What do we do now?" Casey asked.

"We get RJ's spirit back, that's what we do," Dominic answered, "Who's this Whiger?"

RJ walked over to a scroll as he proceeded to explain, "During the ancient beast wars, Whiger and his ugly compadres Scorch and Snapper, they fought against the humans, but..."

He opened the scroll, revealing some intresting information about the Beast Wars, "they also tried to overthrow Dai Shi. Now, if Dai Shi forgives them, and they all join powers, Dai Shi could be unstoppable."
