Author's notes (IMPORTANT) :
Hello everyone, and welcome back. I apologize for the long delay. My reasons stays the same just as the previous chapters, life problems.
The rest of the author's note is at the bottom of this chapter. And please do read it! I'm leaving important news down there.
Also, please do comment on my fanfics as it may help provide me with some motivations. You may even put your ideas there as it may also help this fanfic progress faster cuz I don't have much ideas anymore as I squeeze my brain.
And uhh, a little heads up. I did a copy and paste here. Not that I didn't try, I did but it just seems like a total downgrade of describing compared to how they made it sounding even better. And to those specific authors if by any chance they're reading this? I have your name written at the bottom.
Anyways, please enjoy and thank you for reading.

Kamenriderzio218 : Thank you. And thank you for the correction.
EmperorSnorlax : Thank you very much. I'll continue to improve him more along the way.
Mufalan : Thank you for pointing that out. I made it different because Kazuya is already an adult character. Going all out would be childish. Huh, you remind me of Mihawk and Zoro.
SFAp : Nah bro. Don't worry about that. I'll be including another language soon. Eheh."

"...I declare you to a duel!"
"[Oya Oya~] What a rude valkyrie!..."
"Pleased to meet you, Milady."
Reader P.O.V
Vestri field
"It is an honor to finally be able to meet you in person, Milady." Kazuya who was currently kneeling in front of Louise, speaks in delight as he reaches for her hand and kisses it.
A cold shiver ran through Louise's entire body as Kazuya lips touches her hand, her face turning blue and was showing obvious signs that she is shocked. Unable to withstand it anymore, she quickly withdraws herself away from Kazuya, using the other hand to hold the hand that she got kissed on. Noticing her pale expression, Kazuya gets up from his kneeling position.
"Is something the matter, Milady? Did you perhaps disliked the way I addressed you?"
"Wh-wh-WHO THE HECK ARE YOU?!" she finally let out. Her sudden outburst of a question had imaginably turned Kazuya into a white statue. If he had been wearing glasses they probably would have cracked as well like the generic anime comedy.
"Louise-chan! Louise-chan!" Kivel waves his wings in front of Louise. "[Kore dayo kore] this is him; that Kazuya!" He quickly whispered to her.
"Huh?! You're joking! He's Kazuya?!" Louise points her finger towards Kazuya while looking back between him and Kivel.
"Yes, Milady, I am indeed Kazuya, the familiar that you've summoned the day before today." Kazuya confirms her as he straightens himself.
"But how!?"
With Kirche and Tabitha
"Hey, Tabitha! Tabitha!" Kirche calls to her friend, as she shakes her shoulders back and forth.
"Hmm."
"Who's that handsome~ looking gentleman over there?!" She shakes Tabitha more as she excitedly describes Kazuya attractiveness.
"Louise's familiar." Tabitha answers bluntly.
"Hey~ come on~! Who is he!?" Kirche continues to shake her.
'she's not listening...' She sweatdrops.
Back with Louise and Kazuya
"Well I suppose that my partner and I definitely do have a lot of explaining to do but," He brings up his left hand and shows his familiar branding to her, the undeniable proof that he is indeed her familiar spirit. "I am without a doubt your familiar, Milady."
Louise gawks upon the implication, recognizing the branding on his hand was exactly the same one that appeared on her bat's wing yesterday.
'Those are the exact markings that appeared on my bat yesterday! If its true, the he is my familiar! I heard familiars can take on human-like appearances based on their master's but he doesn't look anywhere like me! Is it because he's a male?!' Louise tries thinking rationally.
"Milady?"
Aware of the fact that standing here trying to find answers by herself won't help her come to a conclusion, she decides to accept that Kazuya is her familiar and acts as rationally as she can as to not look pathetic in front of her schoolmates.
"So? What's your reason? And you better make sure you give me a complete explanation! You hear me?!"
"Yes Milady. Well then," Kazuya raises a finger. "I shall begin by--" He suddenly collapses to the ground, his head nearing the edge of Louise's shoes.
"Wha?! Hey!? What's with you all of the sudden?!"
"[Kazuya?! Oi, what's wrong?! Are you still not feeling well?!] Kivel and Sagarcia flies down to Kazuya's head.
"Kazuya-san?!" Siesta, who was also surprised by his sudden collapsing, quickly rushes to his side. Only to be greeted by the sound of a loud guttural rumblings coming from him as she was about to kneel beside him, which turned everyone's shocked into silence.
"[Nanda... you were just hungry...?]" Kivel looks at him with an unamused look. He got worried for nothing.
"For yourb inforbmation, Ib havomb eatemb forb tbree days..." He mumbled with his face still planted in the grass.
"[Your fault for going on a research marathon two days before Himiko's wedding.] Kazuya could only groan to Kivel's critics, having no energy to argue back at him. Now knowing that his friend was just hungry, Kivel flies up to Louise and informs her of the situation. "He's fine, just hungry. Can we get something for him to eat?" Louise just sighs at her familiar's current unimpressive behavior.
"Siesta."
"Yes, Miss Vallière?" She straigthens herself up.
"Have a meal prepared for my familiar and have it sent to my room."
"Understood, I'll have it prepared immediately." She quickly leaves the area, sparing a glance at Kazuya over her shoulder as she walks away before disappearing.
"And that just leaves you." Louise turns to Kazuya who was leaning flat faced into the ground. "Can you stand?" Kazuya brings up his face from the grass and answers her.
"It shames me to say this, but it would take me some time before I can even walk since I am completely drained of my strength and energy, forgive me Milady."
"Can't help it then." She sighs. "Oi Guiche!" She shouts out to the depressed looking noble.
"H-Hiii!" He jolted in surprise. W-what?!"
"Help me get my familiar to my room." She pointed a thumb towards Kazuya.
"H-huh?! Why should I do it?!"
"You're the one who lost the duel didn't you? The victory of my familiar is my victory, and as the victor, I am allowed to have you do anything I wish you to do, that is how it has always been, right? Or were you planning to run away and dishonor yourself as a coward that does not accept defeat?" She narrows her eyes as she asserts her dominance.
"Grk?! fine..." He walks over to Kazuya and cast levitation on him. Not a moment after that, Kazuya begins to float with his body still facing down and they began walking away heading towards Louise's room with Kivel and Sagarcia following behind.
The way that he was being carried around made a few giggles from among the crowd as it looked hilarious, but the laughs doesn't even bother Louise. It must'n bother her.
"[You're not gonna offer yourself instead?]" Kivel whispers to Sagarcia.
"Ll'i tel ti og siht emit... I tnaw ot tcepser eht gnuoy retsam choices seciohc, dna rof taht I llahs evig emos tsurt ot eht lrig."
"[Hmm, fair enough.]"
"Uoy nac dnatsrednu eht Fangire eugnot won?"
"[Mehh, not much. I only remember a few words thanks to Kazuya. I'm just using your voice's tone and tune to cover up the rest.]" He shrugs.
"Hmph, trams tey ynnuf tab." She smirks as she flies pass him
"Uhh, did you just made fun of me?" He contorts in confusion as he catches up with them.
With Colbert and Osmond
Up in one of the academy's castle towers, Osmond and Colbert can be seen looking out to the field from one of its windows; witnessing everything that was happening down below from the Headmaster's room.
"Headmaster...this is..."
"Yes, indeed..." He brushes his long beard as he continues looking out the window. "He might be a formidable opponent during the Sleipnir Dance Party!" He exclaims in serious yet funny tone.
"Headmaster..." Colbert sweatdrops upon the comment. "Could you at least please be serious in this kind of situation..."
"Alright, alright, but still..." He takes on a serious look. "that's the legendary familiar brought by the child of Vallière huh?"
"There has been records of some familiar spirits being able to take on a human form after forming a pact with their summoners, but usually their appearance would be that of a similar copy of their masters'..." Colbert raises his hand onto his chin as he begins to wonder. "so why is it that the bat-person does not resemble Miss Vallière at all?"
"Then that's all the more reason as to why her familiar is more special than the others. The left hand of god, Gandalf...such a dreadful mystery left by the Brimir.." Osmond stated in all seriousness with his eyes narrowing.
"On that topic, Headmaster."
"Hmm?"
"Why is it that the Sleipnir party was the first that came to your mind?" He asked with an unamused face.
"Oh that? Hahaha, nothing in particular. It was just a funny thought. Gahahaha!" He bursts out laughing. Earning Colbert another tear of sweat to drop. A moment later, Longuevuille comes into the room just in time to be greeted with a laughing Osmond and a disappointed Colbert.
She turns to Colbert with a confused look. He just shrugs at her in response, giving her the idea that Old Osmond made yet another an unimportant or perverted comments.
Kiva's World
Castle Doran
Within the walls of Castle Doran, two figures can be seen walking along the hallway. One person in particular was a man who had ruffled black hair and dark black eyes, wearing a brown coat over his red shirt and a pair of brown jeans and black formal shoes.
This man was the last surviving member of the Wolfen Race of the Thirteen Demons after its genocide. The name of this man is Jiro; or as per his alter ego, Garuru, the Blue Demonic Wolf of the Wolfen Clan.
And right beside him was Taiga, wearing his business suit which is currently messed up and is in improper looking state, with his necktie stretched down and his coat unbuttoned, revealing his white shirt underneath.
Why is Jiro here? From where did he return from? And why is it that Taiga looks messed up as if he's been overworking? Well all of this has to do with the disappearance of Kazuya who suddenly had vanished on his way back from his sister's wedding.
The two continued on walking over the red carpets in the castle until they reached a certain door. As they open up the door, they were revealed with Maya, Masao and Wataru standing in the middle of the library surrounded with whiteboards marked with papers of clues, a desk filled with researches of magic and rituals, and the floor stacked with mountains of books.
A little bit of a recap; after the events with the former Fangire King, Maya had moved back into Kurenai's household where she had been living off for the past few years with Wataru. And had continued living together with him even after his own wedding. Taiga had offered her to live in his home as he could have provided her more but she refuses as she wishes to continue reminiscing in her memories with Otoya.
And as of currently, the former Fangire Queen was wearing a beautiful black dress decorated with spiderweb designs, while Wataru and Masao were wearing their casual outfits(refer to the live series). Each of them were doing their work individually with Wataru reading the books that Kazuya used to read in search of answers, Masao looking over at the planning on the whiteboard and Maya looking over the researches that Kazuya had made.
"Mother, Wataru, we have returned." Taiga calls out to his family members.
"Oh, Nii-san! Welcome back!" Wataru was the first to greet them.
"Welcome back, Taiga."
"Jiro-san as well, its great to see you again." Wataru greets them with a smile.
"Yeah, good to see you as well, Wataru. You've been well?" He gives Wataru a hug and gives a few pats on his back, like seeing an old friend. To him, Wataru was like his own son. After all, since the death of his very first human companion, he was all that was left of him. They were always not on good terms with each other but, Otoya will forever be his good friend.
(Author : I'm trying to not be cringy as possible but this was unavoidable.)
"I have been doing great, thanks for asking." He answers as he was released from the hug.
"Hey, welcome back uncles!" Masao joins in.
"Good to see you too brat!" Jiro grabs Masao by the head and wraps him under his arm and proceeds to roughly scratch his head with his knuckles.
"Ow! Ow! Ow! Stop, please stop!"
"How was the search, Taiga?" Maya asks her first son.
"No good. We've went everywhere to Kazuya could be, but there were no traces of him being there."
"It seems like the situation is far worse than I thought it would be...I've always known that child was special but I didn't expect that gift he has would drag him into this kind of situation..."
"It's not your fault, Kaa-san. I'm sure we will find him eventually." Wataru reassures her.
"Well, what's happened has happened. How about we go over the clues again so I could quickly find him and introduce him to my maw and claws." Jiro lets go of Masao and poses his hands in a menacing way.
"Oh, please don't kill my son." Masao joins in the joke, and all of the family members began laughing, cheering up the mood in the room.
"Oh this may be a joke but; even if it's because of some unknown force, I'm not going to forgive that brat for making my daughter cry!" Jiro releases a dreadful aura in the library with his eyes flaring red as cracks his fingers.
"I understand your anger Jiro, don't worry, once we find him, he's all yours." Maya puts a hand over his shoulder with a sinister smile and like him, releases a dreadful aura.
"Yosh! Just what I wanted to hear!" He punches his left palm.
"Uhh...Kaa-san? Just to remind you, He's my grandson too you know?" Wataru moves into the conversation slowly, effected by the terrifying aura that was slowly filling the room.
"Ehehe! I know." She gives a cheeky grin which did not in any way relieves Wataru over his worry.
"Don't worry Wataru..." Taiga puts a hand on his shoulder. "Mother knows what she's doing." Wataru turns over to Taiga and sees that he also has a creepy grin. "Kazuya is just your grandson, his faults are not yours but your son's, so feel at ease brother."
"Sh-shikashii, Nii-san..." A tear of sweat forms on his head.
"Enough of that, have we gotten any good news from the research?" Jiro questions the research team as he walks over to the moving whiteboard and looking over the clues.
"We were able to pinpoint the exact location where Kazuya suddenly vanish but we have yet able to figure out how he vanished off the radar." Maya explains.
"aaaand due to that! We sent uncle Riki there to investigate it using his electrokinesis since he has the ability to sense energy signatures with it!" Masao answered for her, earning a furrowed eyebrow from Jiro.
"Dogga's back?" Jiro asks in surprise. A second later, knocking was heard from the door. The person coming into the library was Riki himself. "Oh speaking of the Demon, and there he comes..."
"Hmm. Welcome home...Jirou."
"Yeah, yeah, good to see you as well, surprised you arrived earlier than I did though."
"Flight from Switzerland...was smooth...no thunderstorms...service was also...great..." He smiled in delight as reminisces the feeling on the plane.
"Why does he sound like he just got VIP services?" Jiro turns to Taiga with a furrowed eyebrow, earning a shrug from him instead.
"Our company had invested into making private jets to increase our profits and businesses. And knowing him, it is undoubtedly that he would get into troubles just by trying to get through the security and onwards to the plane. You should have already seen one of them."
"Wait, so those planes that were releasing those demonic energies was actually your doing?!"
"Yeah?"
"How many of those did you even send out to?!"
"Meeeh, a bunch." He shrugged.
"Were you able to find anything, Riki-san?" Wataru asks him.
"Weird...energy presence...not demonic…feels...almost magical?" The word catches Maya's attention. Based on all of the papers of research made left by Kazuya in the library, it was obvious that he had been doing continuous research of such subject.
"Magic...? Could it be...?" She voiced.
"Does something come to mind, Kaa-san?"
"I might have a lead...but I'm not completely sure about it...I need to look into this a bit more before I can come to a conclusion. In the meantime, all of you should get some rest. Especially you, Taiga."
"Are you sure about that, Mother? I can still help!" Taiga insisted.
"You already have a lot on your hand, don't you? Leave this matter to your mother and settle with your affairs. I will be fine, so don't worry about me."
"Yes, but..."
"No excuses! Either that or go find yourself a bride and get me a grandchild! It has been long due!" She raises her hand and points her finger at Taiga.
"Grk! I...understand..." He slouches over and walks out of the library.
"I'll see all of you later." With that, Maya returns to the pile papers and works to continue her search.
"How...is...Aoi?" Riki finally asks.
"I've been meaning to ask that as well. You did explain about Kazuya disappearing, but you never told me how my daughter was doing." Jiro pointed out.
"About that...Aoi-san is currently resting in her room. Just as she noticed that something was wrong, she had been searching for Kazuya non-stop. There were a few scratches on her arms and face but none of them were severe. But she must have been extremely tired from her continuous search." Wataru answers.
"I see...I'm going to go and check on her for a bit." He turns towards the door. "Nice seeing you again, old friend." He pats Riki on the shoulder as he walks through the door.
"Hmm...you too." With that Jiro is now out of the library.
"Oh yeah! Have you heard anything from Ramon-Jiichan, Riki-Jiichan?" Masao asks him.
"None... he's probably...underwater...in the sea...maybe..."
"He must be really enjoying his freedom, doesn't he? We'll let him be, who knows, he might have found some other mermaids somewhere else in the world that aren't part of the Demonic races like us. There are myths of it right? Like those Sirens from the Greek mythology?" Says Wataru as he wonders upon the Merman's whereabouts.
"Now that Papa put it that way...Welp, can't help it then!" Masao shrugged.
"I'm going to continue helping your grandmother. What about you, Masao?"
"Of course I'm going to help Papa and baa-chan as well!" (Its cringe. I know)
"Riki-san, how about you? Oh wait, you're probably tired right? Your room is still how it was when—"
"Help...I'll help as well!" He announces enthusiastically with his arms raised into the air.
"Well lets get to it then!"
Unbeknownst to them...they were being watched from afar by a certain entity. And that entity was no other than Bahamut himself who was sitting quietly in his dimension on his throne. "Hmm..." He places one of his claw/hand under his chin as he begins to ponder.
Land of Brimir, Halkagenia
Louise's room
Right after the duel with Guiche, Kazuya had collapsed onto the grassy earth due to the exhaustion. Yes, he was famished and that was due to his own carelessness. And as of now, after being brought back, or better said, brought into Louise's room due to his first time in it; he is currently eating a meal brought by Siesta consisting of two loafs of bread and a glass of water.
"I thank you for the modest yet delicious meal, Milady. And to you as well, Siesta." He thanks the two girls as he finishes the glass of water.
"You are very much welcome, Kazuya-san." Siesta greets his thanks with a smile as she stands beside him.
"Now that you're full, explain to me. Why are you a human? What's with the maid outfit earlier? Why were you suddenly engaged in a duel with Guiche? And what was that did you do?!" She unleashes the barrage of questions she wanted to ask earlier as she sits in the opposing chair, her hands folded over the other.
"Well to begin with it, Milady; I come from a race of demonic beings called Fangire."
(Author : Somehow and somewhat, I regret writing this bit but screw it. I'm done overthinking everything and hope this is just enough.)
"Demons?!" Louise unfolds her hands as the word revelation causes her to be on guard. Siesta was also shocked but did not let out much of a reaction as Kazuya's kindness defies the traits of a demon.
"Now now, Milady," He waves a finger at her. "I may be a Demon but I assure you, as long as I am here, no harm shall befall you nor any of your family and fellow acquaintances."
"And how do you expect me to trust you after what you did earlier!?" She asks him with a furrowed eyebrow. "You revealed yourself to me as a Demon and you had went and show off your strength to Guiche by having him duel with you! You disobeyed my orders to come and meet me, and would still expect me to believe you?!"
"True..." He smirked. "I indeed disobeyed your orders. Perhaps I might as well have broken your trust to a degree but believe me, Milady." He swiftly moves over behind Louise, standing behind her and places his right hand sliding it over her shoulder and resting it on her while the other in front of her placed on the table to show his familiar mark. "As long as our contract is intact, I shall never leave your side. I may disobey your commands from time to time but this is all just to bring honor upon your name and increase your reputation."
"M-my reputation...?"
"Yes~ for whatever it is that I do, I assure you that all of it is just to help you and nothing else~" He whispers into her ears, making his words become into whispers of temptation into her ears as he conveys his vow to her, making her feel like she could truly trust him as her body shivers. "My actions earlier may had truly offended you," He pulls his hands back and stands on Louise's right with his back turned. "But it just goes to show you how capable I am." He says while he looks over at his mark and nails. "I'm powerful...smart ...and very much better than any familiar servant any noble could ever wish for." Siesta watches Kazuya in awe as how Kazuya was charmingly convincing Louise. "What do you say? Would you put your trust on this humble Demon? my master~ Mistre~ss Louise? " His word strikes her like lightning bolt as she feels a jolt of electricity going down her back. It was the first time in her life, that someone else other than her elder sister Cattleya, to show her respect that she deserves. She felt too pleased listening to it that she accidentally lowered her guard as her shoulders had become relaxed.
"E-ehem! A-alright, fine!" She pushes him off of her. "You have my trust." She crosses her arms with her face turned away from Kazuya, trying to hide the redness that had raised up on her face.
"I deeply appreciated it, Milady." He bows to her.
"But remember," Kazuya straightens himself up and sees Louise pointing her wand at him. "If you betray me or do anything that will give me trouble, I will blow you up." She warns him with a threat, causing Siesta to feel worried about Kazuya, fearing that he'll get hurt. Kazuya however had a small frown formed on the tip of his lips, though it was not a frown of annoyance but a frown of concern.
"About that, I was informed by Kivel that your magic is somewhat unstable . You may perform any kind of punishments on me as you see fit but unless you want to destroy your room, I suggest you do not blow me up here." Louise's face turns red again as she felt embarrassed with Kazuya pointing out the error of her magic.
"Kivel...huh." She shakes off the emotion. "I heard from him that you have the capability to help me with my magic problem." She turns to him with an expectant look. "Can you do it?"
"Indeed, I have the capability to make that possibility happen." He holds his fingers over his chin.
"Wait, possibility? What do you mean by that?"
"Well to get started, I have to begin by assessing the problem first right? Without knowing the cause of what is making your magic going out of control, I can not help you." He takes out a small notepad and a pen from his pocket.
"I-I suppose you're right..."
"Let us begin then, we'll start with a few questions. First, could you explain how do the residents here conjure their magical abilities?"
"Eh? Aren't you suppose to know about this stuffs already?"
"Know about these stuffs...? Are you implying that I should have known how the magic in this world works?"
"Well yeah? Since you yourself had casted magic just now?" Kazuya becomes silent and stares at Louise with a dumbfounded look for a few seconds.
"...I apologise, but I'm afraid it is not that simple. The magic I had used earlier are the result of my own research that originated in my world. And to make things clear, the world of Milady's and mine are different and not the same; and magic itself is not excluded from the possibility that it as well may be different from yours." He explains in deep seriousness as his face gets very close with Louise's, gazing sharply into her eyes.
(Author : Should I just give him glasses if he ever does this again? Real sight problems or just fake glasses for comedy?)
"Alright! Alright! I get it! So get away from my face already! You're too close!" She pushes him away.
"Eht Gnuoy Retsam erus si dlob..." Sagarcia commented as she and Kivel watch from above, sitting on top of the wardrobe.
'That guy really tends to get serious when it comes to things he prioritizes...' Kivel sweatdropped.
"Very well, let us start again, could you please explain how do the residents here conjure their magical abilities?"
"Well, to cast a magic spell, first we need to make sure we have gathered enough willpower..."
"Uh-huh, willpower is indeed a factor of being able to conjure magical energies and spells..." He writes the info down.
"If we don't have the sufficient amount willpower, we can't cast any spells."
"Uh-huh..." He continues noting it down. 'Wait...shouldn't even the smallest amount of willpower be able to cast a spell even though it would be imperfect?' He thought. "Are you saying, you won't be able to cast a spell at all?"
"Well, yeah," She nodded. "when casting magic spells, it uses a certain amount of willpower for the spell to activate. Without it, there would be no magic released at all."
The cogwheels in Kazuya's brain began to turn, question marks floating all around his head as he becomes confused and tries to comprehend the newfound information.
"...Isn't that just Mana? Are you talking about Mana??" He questioned her.
" Ma...na? What's that?" Frowned Louise.
" Mana is the essence of energy that is needed to cast a spell Milady, in other words, magic energy. Willpower is just a form of strength added to give more power upon casting a spell."
"Huh?" She frowned. "What in the world are you talking about? Willpower is the one used to cast spells, not that weird so-called Mana thing of yours."
"I beg to differ Milady! Willpower is nothing but a form of strength used to give you power! It is to prove how much you are willing to not give up on anything no matter how hard the trial is! It does not make sense if it used as a form of fuel for magic! If it used as that, will you even still have the will to live with yourself to continue living?!"
"Huuuh!? So you're trying to say that our great Lord Brimir passed down the wrong form of teaching!?"
"That I am! If Willpower truly is the energy essence required to cast and used your magical abilities, then it would drain your will of everything! Your will to move! Eat! Drink! And staying conscious! Willpower equals to one's own strength! Once that happens, you will be left alone and is proned to danger! You will be standing on thin ice facing against Death as you are on the verge of dying!"
"Then let it be that way! It has been forever since Lord Brimir has disappeared with only his teachings and lands left behind! We have forever kept this tradition! This is our pride as the mages of Halkagenia! You can't just expect us to change!"
"I am not saying that all of you must change in order to become stronger—"
"Haaa...siht si gniog ot ekat elihwa..." "Haaa...this is going to take awhile..." Kivel and Sagarcia spoke at the same time. While Siesta...
"Uh-umm...If I'm not needed here anymore, I hope that you don't mind that I take my leave..." Tries to sneak away from the heated argument.
""WAIT A MOMENT THERE SIESTA-SAN! What is your thought on this?!"" The two of them suddenly turn to Siesta.
"E-eh...?" She becomes stunned by the sudden question, unsure of what to do. 'I think I just got dragged into something that I'm going to have a hard time understanding...' She sweatdropped upon the thought.
After two hours of explaining and debating about magic and its concepts...
All three of our characters can be seen to be exhausted after the long debate, Siesta defeatedly sits by the door of the room seemingly very tired with a blue face as she had somewhat just got into an extreme lecture by both Kazuya and Louise on the subject of magic. It can expected that she might be having be having a headache trying to grasp everything in. She isn't even a noble nor a mage yet she was suddenly dragged into the crazy conversation. Kazuya and Louise on the other hand can be seen in their original places, huffing with heavy breaths, tired from the cut-throating debate.
Both of them were currently staring each other down, thinking of their next retort to use against each other. A moment later Louise looses her hold and lies her head on the table, signing that the victory now belongs to Kazuya.
'did I literally just wasted my time and energy for this...?' They thought together at the same time.
o-O-o
The next day...
Wind-day
The next day, Kazuya was seen standing outside on the field, observing his surroundings while looking over at the students in the area. It was a mix of both freshmen and sophomore students, chatting and walking around with their summoned familiars.
Currently upon Louise's order and permission, he is supposed to wait for her outside if he ever went to the library during the night as he was given permission to move around freely.
"[So if I had continued staying in my bat-form, I would have been placed in the same boat as them huh?]" Kazuya wondered aloud as he observes the students with their familiars.
"[I think you're still are though, human form or not.]" Kivel commented
"[If that were the case, that would make you mine wouldn't it?]" Kazuya furrowed an eyebrow.
"[Meh, maybe.]" Kivel shrugs. A second later, Sagarcia was seen flying down towards them. "[Oh, Sagarcia! Done with the violin?]"
"sey." She nods.
"[Why are we hiding it anyways? Wouldn't it be easier if we just tell her that you can play musical instruments?]" Kivel asks him.
"[Well since you only told her about the wedding and did not mentioned anything about my bloodline talent of playing with the musical instruments, I thought why not make use of it? Be it an ally or enemy, sometimes it's better to hide your talons before openly revealing it. A great man once said; the best way to trick your enemies is by tricking your allies.]"
"hcus esiw sdrow, gnuoy retsam."
"[That just sounds like you're just paranoid...]" Kivel makes an unamused look.
"[I would like to see how you handle a group of strangers in a different world without having yourself completely turned into their pawn after revealing everything of yourself to the king or a group of some new friends.]" Kazuya returns the look to him.
"Hmm..." Kivel takes a moment to think about it but was unable to process the thought of himself succeeding. "touché."
"Kazuya!" Louise calls out to Kazuya as she exits the dorm building, walking over to him. The trio turns over, facing towards the voice that called out to him. Kivel and Sagarcia flies away and hidden themselves.
"Oh, Milady!" Kazuya fixes his pose to match the butler act. "How your beauty sleep?"
"It was fine. So, how is the research progressing? Have you find out anything?"
"It is going quite well I might say. Just having a little bit of trouble..."
"Trouble? What kind of trouble?"
"I have gotten over the basics of how magic in this world works but for some reason it feels like there is a component of information that I am still missing..." He holds a hand to his chin. "one concerning your situation."
"I see..." Her face turns sullen. "If you need anything, let me know."
"Will do, Milady." He bows with his right hand over his chest.
"For now, escort me to my class."
"Certainly, Milady. Shall I wait outside by the room or be with you all the way inside the class?"
"Hmm...come with me into the class. You have my permission to ask questions to the teacher in case you have any."
"I am most grateful, Milady." He bows to her once again. With that, she begins walking towards her class with Kazuya behind her. Kazuya was just about to follow up behind her but places his foot back down to its initial spot as he feels a pair of eyes staring daggers at him from behind.
"You know, we should stop meeting like this, its quite unpleasant to know there's someone staring at my back filled with killing intent, you'll ruin my area of perception with this. If you want to talk just come out will you?" A second later, Kufa was seen emerging from behind dorm building's wall.
"Hmph!" He scoffs at him. "Still playing around with the butler role, I see."
"Ah~ young Kufa! What can I do for you?"
"Don't call me that! I don't want to hear that coming from you. You're only a tad years older so drop the haughty act!"
"That might be true, but in three years I will be in my thirties from when I will truly become a respectable old man. So why don't I start playing the uncle role now? Want me to pamper you boy? Hmm~?"
"Who the hell wants to be pampered by you!? Now listen here, you prick. Do anything crazy around these school grounds that'll attract their attention, and I swear I will rip that stupid head of yours off of your neck!" Kufa warns him.
"Oh, what a unreasonable request! You should know that's going to be impossible now my existence has been brought here." Kazuya gives him a disbelief look.
"This isn't a request and I couldn't care less!"
"Kazuya! What are you procrastinating around for?!" Louise calls out, only now noticing that Kazuya was not with her.
"Coming Milady! Well then, let us see each other again another time, Sir Kufa." Kazuya smirks at him before he turns around and to Louise's side.
"I'm warning you, Impure!" Kufa calls out, pausing Kazuya in his approach. "I might not be the one to take your head but they would! And they might take hers and her family and friends as well and their blood is going to be in your hands! You hear me?!"
Kazuya turns his head over his shoulder and...
"...your warning...is deeply appreciated, Sir Kufa." He answers with a heavy deep tone and sharp glare. Afterwards, he resumes his approach towards Louise and performs his duty of escorting her. Just as they were walking together, Kirche and Tabitha at the same time can be seen exiting the dorm building. Kirche leers at him as she watches him walking away.
Hallway
Louise and Kazuya
"Just what were you and Kufa talking about?" Louise questioned him as they walk through the hallway.
"He was a bit curious of me so I went on giving him a little bit of a self-introduction that's all."
"Really...? That's new...that man usually distanced and hides himself away from crowds..." She begins to rub her chin. "For him to show an interest in you is quite surprising..."
"Is that so? I must be quite an interesting individual then!" Kazuya gives a quirky smile.
"You...you didn't 't do anything to annoy him didn't 't you?!" Louise begins to frown as she turns to look at Kazuya with a menacing look and flames rising behind her.
"No, wait...why would you think I would even do such a thing...?" Kazuya drops a tear of sweat behind his head as he is weirded out as to why his mistress was looking at him like that.
In the classroom
As they arrive by the class, Louise heads over to the second row of the students' desks and picks her seat. While Kazuya on the hand, heads over to the top row, at the farthest position of the class and stands by the window in order to avoid causing problems to the other students.
Louise had offered that he seats beside her as there was an empty seat available but he refused, stating with a charming smile that it is better if he stands at the back. Reminding her that he is not a noble but her butler and familiar, he has no right to sit or use a noble students' equipment.
His actions and words truly impressed Louise by how mannerly his demeanour is, making her speechless. If only he actually had a proper butler uniform on him, he would have really looked more charming and stunning that maybe she herself would fall for him.
'Wait! What was I thinking?! Calm down Louise Françoise! You already have a fiance! And that man is your familiar!' She roughly shakes her head left and right to clear her mind and then turns to looks at Kazuya again. '...but then again, I actually might need to buy him a proper butler uniform so that he would actually look like one...Not because I would like seeing him in one of course!!' A tint of red forms on her cheeks once more as she thought of the image of Kazuya in a butler uniform with a smiling charmingly at her, causing her to roughly shakes he head again. 'No no no no no!'
A second later Mrs Chevreuse enters the class and begins her lecture...
"Fire, Water, Earth, and Wind magic creates various different and stronger magic effects by combining each of them together in a way they would synchronize. Furthermore, the level of a mage is determined by how many elements they can combine and form anew type of magic. Do any of you know what they are?"
"Mrs. Chevreuse, may I be allowed to answer that question?" Montmorency, who was sitting a sit on the upper level behind Louise raises her hand.
"Go ahead."
She stands up while lightly pushing one of her twirled hair as if she was flexing her beauty. (Author : anyone knows how can I better word this out?)
"If you combine two, it's a Line. Three forms a Triangle, and four forms a Square."
"Well done." Chevreuse praises her and she sits back down on her seat. In the meantime, as she was answering and returning to her seat, Kazuya had been doing his analysis on her.
'Montmonrency de Montmorency... hailed from a noble family specialized in water magics. According to Louise, her family had forged a contract with the Spirit of Water. A spirit that has presumably existed even during the time of Brimir, the founder of this land...though the history book did not mentioned anything of what magic he used which I find odd...I also heard that her a family has a business of trading and selling perfumes which is quite nice. Maybe I could get some for my family as souvenirs and as an apology token. Especially for Aoi... ' His face grimaces as the image of three important family members gazes at him with red eyes of rage and Aoi in the back dropping tears.
"I believe most of you can only deal with one element at a time but surely in the future, all of you will able to control more than one element allowing you to do more impressive stuffs with magic." Chevreuse wishes them luck.
"Mrs. Chevreuse," Kirche stands from her seat, calling the teacher. "I hate to say this, but there is a student here that can't even use one magic element and has zero percentage rate of magical success here among us." All of the students in the class shoots their sights towards Louise, except for Kazuya who's eyes were focused on Kirche instead, glaring at her in secret.
'Kirche von Zerbst...Louise's rivalling noble family...to think that their hate for each other was this bad...' Kazuya sighs on his Milady's misfortune. 'Not to mention, Louise is not only already behind in her magical skills, but she is also behind in her physical development. Making her an easy target to be bullied especially coming from her rivalling family. I wonder if it's because of the stress that's causing her growth to be hindered? Thoughts aside, I need to set something clear.'
"I-in any case, all of you should aim for higher—"
"Ehem!" Kazuya coughs aloud, grabbing the attention of everyone in the class. "Forgive me, Mrs. Chevreuse, may be I allowed to speak?" Kazuya raises his hand head-levelled.
Blinking in confusion she allows him. "Y-yes...Y-you may? Uhm, who are you?"
"My name is Kazuya, and if you're yet to be informed professor, I am the familiar servant of Louise de la Valliere." He informs her as he descends down the stairs.
"Miss Valliere's...you're that rumored bat familiar that had turned into a human, fought and defeated Mr. Gramont in a duel the other day?" The man in questioned, smacks down his head unto his table as the pain of his defeat was reminded.
"Well, you might as well put it that way. Now then, as much as the words that came from Miss Zerbst is unfortunately true, I ask of you all, please, refrain yourselves from insulting my mistress." He asks as he reached Louise, holding his left hand over her shoulder.
"Kazuya..." Louise softly whispered his name as she looks at him in the eyes, feeling his sincerity for her.
"As her servant, I must say, I am not pleased with such actions against my master. As of her current state, she may not able to cast any kind of magic but now that I am here, such weakness of hers will continue no more. All of you witnessed it, did you not; my magic and abilities?"
The scene of Kazuya casting a fire spell onto the Jacorder and using it against Guiche's bronze golems resurfaced in their mind.
"With my help, my Master shall soon be able to cast some amazing, beautiful, and spectacular magic better than any of you youngsters ever will. Mark my words, for I will make them come true." He releases a terrifying glare towards the students with his fangire markings briefly appearing. All of the boys and girls in the class except for Kirche, Tabitha and Kufa were shaken as they saw the look in his eyes that was openly showing them that this is a warning from him. Although that was his intention, the red-head in the class did not get the message and instead was swooning for him.
"That was such an amazing speech, Sir Kazuya." Chevreuse clapped for him. "You really seem to care for your master don't you?"
"But of course, Mrs. Chevreuse." Kazuya nodded gracefully.
"Now, Kazuya, if you don't mind me asking, what kind of familiar spirit are you?"
"Pardon?" He blinked.
"From what I've heard, you were summoned by Louise in the form of a large golden bat, so how is it that you looked completely human now?" All eyes turn to him with curiosity and suspicion, except for Louise whose eyes turned to him with an incredibly worried look even though she was desperately trying to hide it. If word got out that he was a Demon, there would be trouble stirred up and the name of her family would be endangered.
'Now, what are you going to do about this, Impure...?'
'[Yare yare]. Now this is a pickled situation. If this were any normal situation, I would just tell them that I am unable disclose such information as if it was milirary secret. But I'm surrounded by children here, and girls of no matter what age likes to gossip. No choice then, I have to utilise that Old fool's technique...!' A thought bubble started to puff out of Kazuya's head with the image of Otoya with a stupid smile on his face appearing inside. How can a scamming artist like him even became a hero? "Well Mrs. Chevreuse, this might seem unbelieveable but long ago, I was once a normal human." He stated with a smirk. Everyone in the classroom drops their hold of their jaw, overly stunned by the unbelieveable answer.
"W-what do you mean by that, Kazuya?"
"Well back then I was a normal human researcher(which is still am) and I tend roam around in the woods of the forest. There I found an injured lady. Like any normal person would, I helped the lady out."
"Then what happened after that?!" A student asks excitedly, being obvious that he was curious.
"Well after that, my household became not so lonely anymore as she stayed around for awhile. But it was when she suddenly left that things took quite a turn." He paused, taking a glance at his surrounding, pleased that everyone was paying close attention to him, he continues with his story. "I awoke one day on my bed to find that she was not by my side and notices that my body had taken on a magnificent form, and it is the you know what." A round of murmuring starts to go around among the students. Deciding that this much is enough, Kazuya concludes the story.
"And the reason that you are human now is...?" Chevreuse provided an unexpected assistance.
"Well thanks to my dearest master here, I was able to regain my old appearance, hence able to once more blend in human society." He says with a hand to his chest, looking towards the ceiling with his eyes closed, making an expression that shows that he's truly grateful to Louise. Murmuring sounds starts coming from the students, each with their own kinds of ideas of Kazuya story.
'That's a load bullshit. As if anyone is gonna believe such ridiculous story, there's so many holes in it.' Kufa thought in disgust.
"Oh my...how horrible! It must have been terrible for you to be stuck in that form." Chevreuse says in pity. "That lady might have placed a curse on you before she left.
'wait...'
"How long were you stuck in that form?" A girl from the far left of the class asked.
'no...'
"Well I can't really specify, but it had been a while since I last regain my humanity. And Mrs. Chevreuse, to you it may be a curse but to me, it may had been a blessing of some kind."
'are you kidding me...?'
"How did your life turned out after being forced to be stuck in that form?" Another student asked.
'They actually bought it?!' Kufa's eyes becomes wide open as looks over at the teacher and the other students in disbelief as they actually bought his story, except for Tabitha and Louise. Only Tabitha could tell that he was lying as she secretly eyes him suspiciously.
"Wait, what about those two small creatures that came with you?"
"Oh, they're just my companions. In a sense you could call them, my familiars? They're actually a result of an experiment of mine."
In Louise's room
Kivel was hanging on a beam on the ceiling while Sagarcia was sleeping on the coffee table of the room.
"Sagaakchoo!" She sneezed
"Huh? Sagarcia, you okay?" Kivel flies down from the ceiling beam and sits next to her on the table.
"I od ton wonk. Ylneddus I tlef ekil I evah na yhcti eson." She answers him while using one of her tentacles to rub her where supposedly her nose is...
"It could be one of those spiritual things that's quite popular among the humans."
"Lautirips?"
"Something about when you sneeze, someone is probably talking about you."
"...taht sdnuos suolucidir." She sweatdropped.
"Don't look at me, wasn't me who invented that thing." Suddenly Kivel felt an itchy sensation on his face. "Ha-haa! Kivaaatchoo! Eh, huh?" He rubs his nose with his wing. "That's weird...felt like someone was talking about me. Wait...no way! Was that spiritual thing true?!"
Sagarcia just shakes her head upon Kivel's ridiculous belief of the spiritual sneeze.
Back In the Classroom.
"It's really a wonder why that woman would lay that form upon you even after you helped her."
"Perhaps it is fate that I've become this way. Becoming the bat has allowed me to do many things I could never have done as a human." He puts his free hand on his chest, signalling gratefulness. "Now then, I might have taken too much of this class's time so I must end my talk here. But before that, Mrs. Chevreuse, I actually have a question that I would like to ask."
"Go ahead then." He lets go of Louise's shoulder and descends down the stairs once more, heading towards the blackboard behind Chevreuse.
"If two elements forms a line mage," He takes a piece of chalk and draws a line, labelling the word Fire and Water on both of its ends. "while three and four forms a triangle and square." He draws separate polygons of a triangle and a square labelling the other elements of wind and earth on its ends. "Then would there be a fifth one making a pentagon mage?" He draws another polygon with the shape of a star, again labelling each of its ends with the elements and on the last end he writes a question mark.
"A pentagon mage with the control of five elements? Where did you get such an idea?" Chevreuse asks with a raised eyebrow.
"From the academy's logo. If every words, every colors and every shapes of everything has a meanings and secret meanings behind them, surely there is another reason as to why the academy uses the pentagon symbol not just to show the sign of the elements but yet another meaning." Kazuya glances at Chevreuse, noticing her pondering upon the idea that Kazuya brought up. The other students began to look curious as well with Kazuya's opinion of the existence of a fifth element, Tabitha, Kufa and Louise included.
"Now that you say it that way, you actually might have a point there." She rubs her chin as she ponders upon Kazuya's idea. "But I am sorry Kazuya...I'm afraid I have no answer to your question because I myself do not know whether the existence of a fifth element exists or not." She gives an apologetic smile.
"I see...too bad then." He shrugs and put back the chalk on the small ledge on the chalkboard and returns to his posing by the window.
After Class...
Outside, after class, Louise and Kazuya can be seen walking together, heading towards the cafeteria. Louise was having quite the grin all the way as she walks, feeling satisfied with something.
"You seem to be in a very good mood right now, Milady."
"You think so?"
"Indeed, Your mood seems to be quite better than it was in class."
"Hmm...I see. Well then," Her smile got wider. "a reward." She says suddenly.
"Huh?" Kazuya becomes surprised, immediately stops in his tracks. And Louise as well stops and turns around to face him.
"A reward I said. You've stand up for me in the class just now. Normally, no common servant would dare do that even if it's for their masters' sake as nobles are ones to be respected no matter who they are and you just stood up against one. Even though not directly..." She tells him with her arms crossed, having a small giggle as she remembers the look on her classmates' faces as he shuts them up for her. "So tell me, is there anything that you would like as a reward?" She asks him. 'He's already done so much for me even though He had only known me for two days...I should at least reward him for his efforts. Otherwise, he might get tired of me...' She thought sullenly.
Flashback
Louise's room
Last night, Louise was alone with Kivel in her room, talking together as Kazuya told him to keep her company while he and Sagarcia went to the library to continue their research. She was sitting on her chair while holding her head by the chin on the coffee table, seeming to be annoyed by something as her eyes were closed and her fingers were rapidly tapping on the table.
"[Ne, ne, Louise-chan.]" Kivel softly calls to her.
"Hmm? What is it?" She peeks at him.
"About what happened earlier... that...are you still mad about it?"
"Somewhat I still am, why did he went and fight him like that..." She groans as she thinks about earlier when Kazuya was having a fighting with Guiche.
"Well...I hope you're not too mad at him..."
"On that note..." Kivel froze as he feels an intense stare coming from Louise. "you seem to know something don't you... Kivel?" He gulps in fear, the intensity in her glare was having a strong effect him. " So? Is there something you would like to tell me? Kivel~?"
Unable to hold on the secret anymore due to the pressure being given, he confesses.
"Ok! Ok! I'll spill! I'll spill! He did that to help restore your dignity!"
"Wha? He what?!"
"He heard of the reason why everyone keeps on calling you Zero so he thought if he made a show of himself, displaying his strong fighting abilities against Guiche and revealing himself as your great familiar, your reputation would be fixed even if its just temporary!"
"He...he did that...?" Astonished to what Kazuya had done for her, she feelt a guilty that she had been directing her anger at himand doubted his capabilities and loyalty.
Flashback End
'Uhh...oookaaay...is this one of those situations where the girl feels bad that she's receiving so much gifts that she felt like she has to give at least one to the boyfriend just because she's afraid that he'll leave her?' Kazuya wondered with his eyes closed and having a sweatdrop on his forehead. Looking back at Louise, he notices that she is still waiting for his answer. 'My god, she is serious...'
(Author : Do note that Kazuya is sick-ass bookworm, he's read many novels other than just doing his research. It's a form of taking a break for him. He's not breaking the fourth wall, he is literally just predicting the situation using the experience from the love novels he read. Also, pardon me for asking; you guys know whats a sweatdrop right? Just wanted to confirm)
"Mi-milady, please; this is nothing for you to be rewarding me for." Kazuya tries to reject her offer, having an apologetic smile. "What I am doing is just part of my duty, you're success enough is a reward for me." His smile changes to a bright glowing smile akin to someone who is proud. Both his words and smile caused her to blush, no man in her life has ever said something like that to her, especially from a handsome man. Wait, handsome?
'He-he's too good to have become my familiar...!' She turns around, hiding her face, not letting Kazuya see her face that was burning up. She takes in a deep breath and calms herself down, regaining her composure. Turning back to Kazuya, she tries to ask him again. "No! Even if that is your wish, there must be something you would like to have, right?! As your master, I have the right to give you a reward whether you want it or not!"
'Huh, she's really serious bout this.' He thought. "W-well if you insist then...I would like to get myself a sword."
"A sword? That's it? Don't you already have one? The red whip-like thing, I heard that it could become a rapier of some sort."
"Yes, the Jacorder can become a rapier but my kind of swordsmanship is more of power type fighter that relies more on heavy hits and slashes. Don't get me wrong, I am able to use any forms of weaponry but I believe a longsword is more suitable for me."
"I see, well then, I shall plan for our travel to the weapons shop tomorrow. We're going to get you some new clothes anyway so it is a good timing."
"I am deeply grateful Milady." He bows and both of them continues walking.
"That reminds me,"
"Hmm?"
"that Tuxedo...where did you get that from?"
"Oh this? This is actually mine. I was actually on my way back from a human wedding ceremony until I was summoned by you."
"You went to a wedding?!"
Louise's room
Night time...
"Well then Milady, I shall take my leave once more."
"Hmm. I expect some results by tomorrow."
"Do not worry Milady, I shall not disappoint you. And Kivel, I leave Lady Louise in your hands."
"You mean my wings?" He joked, to which both of them laughed for a moment and Kazuya takes his leave with Sagarcia.
Hallway.
"Well then, time for another night's work huh." He says as he walks.
"gnuoy retsam..."
"Hmm? Something wrong?"
"t'nera uoy...on, nodrap em, ti si gnihton." Kazuya shrugs upon her sudden backtrack and continues walking. That is until...his stomach begins to growl.
"Oh dear...this is a rare situation." He stops walking and holds his hand over his stomach.
"I eveileb erar si ton eht esac rof uoy..." She sweatdropped.
"Kazuya-san?" They turn their attention to Siesta who had came upon their hallway.
'What is up with this ridiculous good timings...?'
Academy's kitchen.
Right after their coincidental meeting in the hallway, Siesta had brought Kazuya to the academy's kitchen where he was given food to dine on. And as we speak, Kazuya can be seen eating a plate filled with chicken stew, a loaf of bread and bowl of salad. All of the staffs in the kitchen watches him eat with satisfaction with the chef and Siesta standing by his sides, enjoying his presence in the room. The chef like the other cooks wears a white long sleeved shirt and a chef hat, but what was different about him is that he wears a red scarf around his collar.
"My goodness! This is one delicious stew!"
"Hahaha! I'm sorry they're leftovers, but eat as much as you want, Our Sword! Gahahahaha!" The chef encourages him.
"Our Sword?" Kazuya paused, the spoon filled with the stew stopped a finger away from his mouth.
"That's right! You're a peasant like us, but you stood up and won the duel against that snobby noble boy. You're the pride of the peasants, Our Sword!"
"That's right! That's right!" The staffs chorused.
'How is he so sure that I'm a peasant even though I'm wearing a tuxedo? Is it because it looks messy right now that there's a chance that I picked it up from a dumpster?! Is that the idea?!' Kazuya wondered in shock. "Oh please good sir, what I did was just the result of my training in swordsmanship, it is nothing to be highly praised about." He brushes off the chef's praises.
"Did you hear that?! A true master is like this, never boasting! This is where he's different from all those stupid nobles! I expect nothing less!"
"Nothing less!" The staffs chorused again.
"Oh please, you're giving me too much credit." Kazuya took on a sheepish look. "But still, this is one tasty meal—ghk!" The chef slaps him on the back.
"When it comes to me, Marteau the head chef, anything will end up tasting exquisite! This is magic in of itself." The chef exclaimed
"I-I see..." Kazuya recovers himself. 'He somewhat reminds me of Aoi when she first cooked for me ahaha...' He reminisces. "Perhaps I shall have Aoi learn a thing or two from you."
"Who is Aoi?" As if knowing that he was saying the name of a woman, Siesta instantly asks him.
"A...close friend of mine who likes cooking." He sweatdropped. 'A very good cook...' An image of Aoi cooking with a dark aura emanating from her and a creepy smile on her face resurfaces in his mind.
"A good man! You're really are a good man, Kazuya! I like you, Our Sword! Please, allow me to kiss you!"
"Huh?!" The chef puckers up his lips and advances his face closer to Kazuya's. 'OH GOD PLEASE NO!' Kazuya raises his hand and effortlessly pushes Marteau's face away. "Please Marteau no!"
"Such modesty. As expected!" Marteau rubs his now redded nose and moves away from Kazuya.
"As expected!" The staffs praised again. Afterwards, they began to chatter about how great Kazuya was, giving continues praises behind his back.
"Phew..." He turns his attention to Siesta who gives him a bright smile.
Outside
In the fields
After his meal, Kazuya and Siesta took a walk outside in the academy grounds. Enjoying the beautiful night light of the moons.
"Please come again." Siesta tells him. "Everyone one of them is a fan of yours, Kazuya-san."
"Ahaha...fans huh." He sweatdropped. "I must thank you once again, Siesta. You have again, helped me in my time of need."
"Oh please! You're giving me too much credit!" She raises both of her hands in defense, waving off Kazuya's praise.
"Well then, I must get going now, My master is expecting some results from me. It was nice spending time with you tonight, let us see each other again soon." He lifted his foot, ready to head back inside.
"U-um, Kazuya-san?"
"Yes?" He turns around.
"I-If you don't mind, I-I would like to have a long chat with you sometime." She gives him genuine smile.
Kazuya was taken aback by the cute smile the young girl was giving him. 'Were girls always this cute?' He thought. Imprisoning himself in solitude for years for the sake of satisfying his own greed for knowledge has undeniably caused him to lose sight of reality. Truth be told, there were much more stuffs out there in the world worth learning about, and only here now he realized that; 'Damn, I've really wasted a lot in my life didn't 't I...?'
"Is there something wrong?" Siesta asks him in concern as she notices his face starting to look a little gloomy.
"Hmm? Oh it's nothing." He brushes her worry off. Donning a smile on his face, he takes a step towards Siesta. "Siesta, would you kindly give me your hand?"
"E-eh? My hand?" She raises her right hand to him, albeit confused. Not a moment later, Kazuya gently grabs her hands and lowers his head and torso and proceeds to kiss her hand. "WHA-EH!?" The young maiden's turns bright red in its entirety as she looks at the handsome man in complete shocked.
With his face still near her hand, he looks upwards at her. "A long chat, you say? Then how about you come over to my Mistress' room when you find yourself some free time? I too would like to have a long chat with such a beautiful fair maiden." He gives a charming smirk as he straigthens himself up.
"Y-yes! Uhm..." Siesta struggles to find the correct words. Thinking that this should be enough teasing, he lets go of her hand and bids her goodnight with a bow.
"Well then, once again, thank you for your help Siesta, and have a good night." He says as he takes his leave.
"Y-y-yes! G-g-good night, Kazuya-san!"
Hallway
After having a short conversation with the beautiful maid, Kazuya and Sagarcia traverse through the halls once again, heading towards the library. With a little bit more of studying the concepts and knowledge of this world, Kazuya would soon be able to help Louise.
Although that was the case, along their walk, Kazuya had been frowning all the way ever since they entered. Holding on the thinker's pose as he seems to be deeply caught in his own thoughts. Concerned by his behavior, she decides to inquire him.
"Gnuoy retsam, si ereht gnihtemos gnorw?" Whether he heard her or not remains a mystery to her as he didn't respond nor looked her way. After failing to call him two more times, she decides to go with a more physical approach by using her tentacle to pull his hand.
"Whoa! What? What?"
"Uoy erew ton gnidnopser ot ym sllac."
"Oh…my bad."
"Tahw saw ti taht tog Uoy os deyonna?"
"Annoyed?! I wasn't annoyed." He gives her a confused look.
"Ruoy ecaf dias esiwrehto." She said with an unamused look.
"Oh...really?" She nodded in confirmation. "Well, it's just… When my hand touched that girl's hand just now I felt something familiar. It was something like…"
"Uhh, Retsam?" Sagarcia points towards something at the end of the hallway.
"Hmm?" He turns his head towards where she was pointing, seeing a big red salamander crawling on the floor a few steps away from them. It's tongue slithering out and back in as it gazes at him. "Oh? Aren't you Miss Zerbst's—" Before he could finish, Kirche's Salamander crawls towards him with haste and lunges onto him. Kazuya quickly takes a step to the side, avoiding the salamander assault. "Now that was rude." He turns towards the reptilian creature. The salamander prepares itself to lunge at him again but Kazuya raises his hand motioning stop. "Let me guess, your master wants to see me?" The red reptilian creature nods at him. "You do know that you could have just ask me to come right?" The creature tilts it head, signifying that it does not understand what it is being told. "Right...familiar and master language...since I'm not it's master, it can't really understand me rather it was just recognizing the words he heard from Kirche. Haa...fine, come on." He waved at the lizard, understanding that he'll come with it, the salamander leads Kazuya the way to Kirche's room.
"era uoy erus tuoba siht, gnuoy retsam?"
"I don't see the harm in it. Plus, if I don't go anyways this creature is definitely going to continue bugging me."
"Ew dluoc kconk ti tuo?"
"That's going to make her come to us instead and either way will make us see her. Also, might be a little too late but please stop calling me gnouy. I'm reaching my thirties so its not going to bode well with me."
"yrev llew."
Arrived at Kirche's room
As they stand by Kirche's door, Kazuya gave three knocks to the door, to alert the owner of his presence. But the Salamander that brought him, without waiting for any response from its master, just barges into the room; surprising Kazuya with its action making him go white eyed. (The comical anime reaction.)
"Please~ Come in~" Kirche invites Kazuya into her room.
"Pardon the intrusion." As he steps inside, he was greeted by the sight of Kirche bathed in the seductive glow of the moonlight, standing by the window in an alluring night attire consisted of a purple lingerie. And the way she had been standing there with her arms crossed signifies that she has been there for a while awaiting for his arrival.
'Oh great...not again.' He grimaces.
"Welcome to my suite room, Karenai Kayazu. Oh, was it Kiyazu Kakari?"
'Those aren't anywhere close!' He sweatdropped. "Ahem! Miss Zerbst, to what do I owe this meeting? And please, just call me Kazuya." He plays along like nothing wrong just happened.
"Alright. Kazuya...I know that it's something that shouldn't be. But my nickname is feveret, and I tend to burn like a torch." Her eyes sparkles as she speaks about herself.
"And might I dare asks, what does it has to do with me...?" Kazuya raises an eyebrow.
"You still don't get it? I'm in love with you!"
"Eh...?" Kazuya's entire body had turned completely white. 'Is this that warrior love cliché...? Where a girl falls in love with the strong warrior who won the duel in an arena...?' He sweatdropped as he rationalize his thought process. 'Well, maybe this is yet the worst, unlike during the time in high-school. Dang, those girls.'
"Love always comes so suddenly. Don't you think so~?" She continued, having a blush on her face and her hands cupping her cheeks as she dramatically acts embarrassed.
"Ah, yes. I think I can believe that..." He drop another sweat.
"You looked so handsome and cool when you defeated Guiche in that duel! It was fantastic!" She steps closer towards him. "Seeing it, I, Kirche the Feveret became Kirche the Passion..." She leans herself onto Kazuya's chest. Being a gentleman he is, Kazuya allows her to lean on him.
"U-um..." Without saying any word, Kirche begins to close he distance between her face and Kazuya's, standing on her toes to help her reach his face. 'Oh here we go again...' Kazuya raises his hands and tries to reach for her shoulder so he could push her away. But that was until someone had come up and shouted at them by the window, taking away Kazuya's chance of pushing Kirche away and her trying to kiss him.
"Kirche!" The both of them turns towards the origin of the voice and sees the person flying by the window.
"Oh my, Styx? What's up?" She turns to the man by the window while still leaning onto Kazuya.
"I came by because you didn't show up at our promised time!"
"Then change that appointment to two hours from now." She answers carelessly. (I'm not sure what word to use that could combo up with her..)
"Thats not what we agreed on!" Styx shouted in disagreement.
'Of course...since there's a playboy there should also be a playgirl.' Kazuya thought in disdain. Seeing that Styx isn't going to leave easily, Kirche grabs her wand and controls the fire that is lit on the candle near the window, forming a flaming snake and shoots it onto him.
"Gah!" The flaming snake lunges at him on his forehead and he falls down from the window.
"And that was?" Kazuya's eyebrow furrowed.
"Just a friend. Right now the one that I love the most is..." She attempts to kiss Kazuya again, which somehow fails again as another person appears by the window.
"Kirche! Who is that man?! Tonight, I want you to burn up with me—tehuaaack!!" Kirche lets loose another shot of fire towards him, making yet another one of her victims.
"...another friend of yours?"
"That's right. In any case, the night is short, and I don't want to waste any time!" Once again, she tries to swoop in a kiss and fails yet again as another man appears by the window, but this time it was not one man but three.
"""Kirche!!!""" Three men called out from the window. """What are you doing?! You said you didn't have any particular lover!""" They said in unison.
"Manica! Ajax! Gimly! Well then...in six hours."
"""Thats morning already!!!""" Frowning, she calls to her salamander.
"Flame!" The reptile stands with it's hind legs and shoots out a torrent of flame aimed at the three men by the window.
"""Gaaaaah!!!""" And they all fell down together.
'Just how many men has she slept with...this is starting to remind me of that man.' Kazuya wondered; but not for long as once Kirche turns to look at him in the eyes again and this time, she went on being more aggressive. Instead of trying to scoot herself onto Kazuya lips, she pushes him down.
"Whoa!?" He yelped in surprise as he falls on his back on the wooden flooring. Noticing something heavy sitting on him, he looks up to find Kirche sitting on top of him, seductively.
"My, my, aren't you the bold one?"
"It's one of my special perks, Darling~"
"As much as I appreciate the company, can we do this another time, Miss Zerbst?"
"Aww...why...?" She pouted
"I have a duty I must attend to for the sake of my master." He explained calmly.
"That Louise? Hey, how about you just ditch her and become mine instead? I promise you that I can give you a much better life than she can." She leans down on him, pressing her bosom against his chest.
"Unfortunately, I believe I can not do such a thing. My Master and I are bound by a contract, and I seek to fulfil my end of bargain as she has done hers."
"Hee~? So she gave you something? What did she gave you~? Would you to tell me about it~?"
"Sorry, but no."
"D'aw..." She pouted again.
"With that settled, could you please get off of me now? I have matters that requires my immediate attention."
She continued to pout as she look at him, annoyed that she couldn't win him over. Then a mischievous smile forms on her lips. "Hm hm~ No~"
"No...?" A worried look appears on Kazuya's face as a sweat dropped over his forehead.
"That's right~ I'm going to make you mine no, matter, what~" She says with her face getting closer to him, her hand sneakily reaching for the ribbon hook that tied the front of her bra and undoning it. Ready to use her beautiful sex appeal on him. Afterwards, she closes "I love you, Kazuya~!" Afterwards, Kirche began to close the distance between her face and Kazuya's, going straight for what she been aiming from the start. Closing her eyes as her lips puckers up.
Just as their lips were about to touch, she suddenly becomes unable to move. Finding it odd, she opens her eyes, looking confused. "Eh?" Apparently, Kazuya was holding her by the shoulders, preventing her from moving any further.
"Dear me," he pushes her away, returning her to her previous position. "Truly, Miss Zerbst, you are one assertive lady. Not that it's wrong." He smirks as he gets up, using only his legs to lift Kirche by the shoulders, causing her to float above the floor with only her toes nearly touching it. (The man has some strong legs!)
"Really, I am flattered by your passionate confession Miss Zerbst," He places her down for her to stand on her own then reaches for her chin, holding it upwards. She swooned, expecting that he was gonna kiss her instead, but "Unfortunately, as of our current circumstances, I am not able to return your feelings neither do I see myself doing so in the future."
"Eh?! Why!? Why can't you!?" She leans onto his chest, again, this time her expression was that of a desperate woman not wanting to lose her her only beloved.
"My answer stands the same, I am--"
Kirche's door was slammed opened. Revealing Louise in her nightgown who seemed to be in a very bad mood as a popped vein can be seen on her forehead. Both Kazuya and Kirche turned towards the door. Kazuya was shocked by Louise's presence as he had expected her to be asleep while Kirche on the other hand has a neutral reaction, as if she knew Louise would come sooner or later.
"M-Milady?!"
"Kirche! Get your hands off of my Familiar, now!" She demanded.
"Ara~? I'm busy right now, Vallière. Mind coming back later?" She leans harder into Kazuya's chest.
" Kazuya?" Louise sends a sharp gaze at him. Getting the message, Kazuya pushes Kirche away, gently once more and walks over behind Louise, looking apologetic. "Just what in Brimir you're thinking you're doing, Zerbst?"
"Can't be helped it." She shrugged. "Love and fire are the destinies of the von Zerbst family. And I only wish to burn in the Flames of Love."
"Kazuya." Louise glances at him once more.
"Yes Milady?" He stands ready beside her, prepared for what she may send his way.
"Leave the room." She orders him.
"As you wish." He bows to her before heading towards the door and leaves with the door closed behind him.
"Wait!" Kirche shouted, but he did not stop as his master's order was far more important. "Louise, He may be your familiar, but he is still a proper human! Don't you remember what he said?! He told us he was cursed! I was just trying to give him some love! What's wrong with that?! Its unreasonable to get in the way of someone's romance you know!"
"My familiar has stated that he was not cursed, he was blessed by the lady; those were his words. You've heard wrong Zerbst." Louise corrects her with a sharp glare. Once again, Kirche was surprised by Louise's new persona. " Don't you dare come close to him!" She warned with such strong venom in her voice.
Afterwards, Louise turns towards the and leaves the room, leaving Kirche alone with Flame.
"Hmph!" She pouts. "I'm not going to give up just yet."
Hallway
In the hallway, Kazuya can be seen waiting for Louise by the door that was after Kirche's room. Seeing his mistress approaching, he immediately calls out to her.
"Milady I..."
"Its fine, there's no need of you to explain."
"Huh...?"
"Sagarcia had explain the situation, so I won't blame you for going to her room."
"Sagarcia did?" He muttered. 'Has Kivel fully memorized the dead Fangire language?' He wonders as he imagines the image of Kivel studying the book Kazuya wrote for him. 'When did she left for them in the first place...?' He sweat dropped as he tries to find Sagarcia but sees that she did left.
"I will be returning to my room,"
"Well then, allow me to escort you."
"There's no need for that."
"Eh?"
"Just continue on doing your work, I will head back myself. Understood?" She shoots a sharp glare at him.
"Uh, y-yes..."
Louise continues on walking through the hallway until she reached the stairs and begone out of Kazuya's sight.
"Haaaa..." He sighs as he leans against the wall, sliding down to his knees in the process. "Such turns of events...to begin with, what's the reason I'm here again? Ah right, I was summoned. Rather I was chosen or captured is something that's starting to become questionable now." He starts to massage his temple, trying to relieve the headache he was having. "Tired, so damn tired. All this acting is starting to take a toll on me. Who am I kidding? Becoming a familiar servant to an unknown brat? Himiko would laugh at me. And I can even see her doing it while standing next Louise trying to show her superiority over me just because they're girls!" He groans over the image and then released a long sigh. But later, his mouth that was displaying his vexation turns to a smirk, a devilish smirk. "Then again, it's been a while since I've faced such a challenge." The smirk grew wider, as it was starting to reveal sharp fangs that had been hidden inside his mouth, along his fangire markings appearing as well. He gets up from the floor and starts stretching his body. "Haa~ things are gonna get busy now...but that business should make my time worthwhile. Hehehe...Halkagenia...such an amazing specimen! Hahaha!!"
With Louise
"I've let my guard down! That Damn Zerbst! Of course she would also target my familiar!" She stomps around in her room with her teeth gritting and fists clenching hard that had turned white, all because Kirche tried to taker her familiar..
"Uhh...Louise-chan?" Kivel tries to call her, trying to calm her down, while Sagarcia was just watching her from above them.
"That woman! That woman! That woman! That WOMAN!! "
"[Ah dame da kore ya...mo kikoenai janai ka...]
[Translation : Oh this is hopeless...she can't even hear me anymore...]
"Hmm...M'I gnitrats ot ekil reh won." She smirked. Kivel's eyes furrowed hearing Sagarcia saying something with a smirk on her face, quickly he flies down to his book and looks for a translation to her words. Which somewhat annoyed him when he keyworded it out to what she had just spoken.
"Seriously? How about you help me calm her down then?" Kivel points out.
"Epon! M'I gniyojne siht. Sediseb, I t'nac kaeps French."
"...ah biscuits..." Kivel cussed
The Next day
Void-day
The Horse Stable
"We're going to the town by horse?" Kazuya asks as he watches Louise bring out one of the horses from its cage, at the same time, thinking why not just go by flying? 'Is she afraid of heights? No, that's probably not the reason.'
"That's right. You know how to ride one right?"
"But of course." He holds a hand over his chest. 'From learning them in books that is...hopefully my body does not fail my brain.' He grimaced. "Pfft, who am I kidding..." He mumbled.
"You said something?"
"Oh nothing at all Milady. But please Milady, when you book a horse next time please inform me. It is my job to assist you in your matters such as this." He advises her. 'But this is actually good somewhat as it follows the motto I'm following.'
"I will be the one to decide that. Now hurry up and get on with it." She orders him to which he obliged.
With Kirche
Currently in her room, Kirche was sitting on her vanity table, putting on her makeup, hoping to see Kazuya again.
"How should I seduce Kazuya today~? Hmm~ Hmm~ " She wonders as she finishes putting on her lipstick.
"Ha!" She hears Kazuya's grunt from the window. Looking out through it, she could see him and Louise riding on a horse, heading out through the main gate of the academy. Upon sharpening her gaze, she can see Louise sitting in front of Kazuya, the position where she has access to lean on his chest during the whole ride, causing Kirche to feel jealous.
"That Louise! Taking advantage of her tall handsome familiar! Oh wait a minute, this might actually be a good chance. I could use the old ''happen to run into each other while out'' pattern while going out for him." She smirked.
Now that she planned her next move, she rushes out of her room.
In the town...
With Kazuya and Louise.
As they finally arrive in the town and safely placed their horse in a temporary stable, Louise and Kazuya were now walking through the town, searching for a tailor shop, in hopes of getting Kazuya a proper set of butler clothes and afterwards getting him a new sword.
"So this is the town of Tristain!" Kazuya exclaims with excitement. "I must say, it is very much lively here!" He says as he looks around the town seeing many shops are crowded with customers, fascinated by it. 'It may just be people crowded in on shops and vendors but it certainly is refreshing to see a scene like this again. Hmm, refreshing huh? Dang, maybe I really should have followed Kivel's advise.'
"I'm glad you're enjoying your time here but come on, the shops we're looking for is this way." She waves over at him.
As they continued walking around, Kazuya couldn't help but notice that none of the shops had signs with titles on them. Instead, they featured handmade drawings carved onto a piece of wood, hung over the top of the shop's door. Some of them were placed beside the door, while others were simply nailed onto it.
'It seems like what Siesta told me was true. Most of the people here seem to lack the ability to read.' he thought, observing people entering shops right after looking at and interpreting the signs composed of certain images. "Well, at least they know basic math...wait, did that man just turned into a black piglet??"
Arrived at the Weapons shop...
After a few minutes of walking and turned to a certain corner, they finally arrive at one of the shops that they were looking for. A shop with an image of a sword carved onto the sign, hanged on the wall next to its window.
"We're here." She informs him.
"Huh...doesn't look like how I expected it to be."
"Its the only one the town has." She opens the door of the shop and heads inside.
"I wasn't complaining..." He mumbled. 'Welp, now at least I'll be able to look at some fantasy world's swords, though my hopes aren't that high since this isn't a blacksmith.' He shrugged before he heads insides as well.
And as soon as he went in, his face was written with complete disappointment. 'Yep...just as I thought. They don't polish their weapons as much as they needed to. Look at that axe.' Kazuya thought as he stares at the dirty axe.
"Shopkeeper, do you have any swords that's suitable for this man?" Louise asks the man standing on the other side of the counter. The man has a distinguishable appearance; he had a long red nose, a buck teeth and a pair of thin moustache. He also wears a pair of glasses, a brown cap on top of his head and was currently smoking a pipe on his mouth.
"This guy? The heck's he? A runaway noble?"
"No, he's my—"
"Servant. I am her servant butler." Louise raises an eyebrow at him, to which he responds by mouthing her the words "Trust me" "And pardon my current appearance, a certain matter came up and we couldn't get myself a proper uniform."
"Huh...that's actually quite shocking. Haven't seen many butlers outside these days, let alone those that can fight."
"Your comment flatters me." Kazuya gives a slight bow as thanks. "Now, could you kindly provide me with a sword? And uhh, Milady, what would you say our budget is?"
"About 250 to 350 golds..."
"Alright, lemme go check at the back." He leaves the counter and heads into the room behind him.
"Just what are you doing?" Louise asks with her arms crossed.
"Milady, were you really planning on introducing me as your familiar servant?"
"Well you are, aren't you?" His eyes widens in disbelief, blinking twice before he goes to reprimand her.
"Surely you have not forgotten the fact that there are none except the Tristain Academy students is aware of my identity?"
"...!" It took her a moment before she realizes her mistake. "Oh Brimir..." She facepalmed herself. If a rumour came out that the daugther of Valliere had a human as her familiar, there would have been an uproar.
"Lately, it's the fad among the nobles, even the royalties to equip their servants with weapons so I've got the just the thing for you." The shopkeeper comes back with rapier in his hands. He hands the sword over to Kazuya, allowing him to inspect it.
Kazuya goes on to do some light swings and thrusts to test the blade capabilities. It seemed suitable for him at first, but his face was showing dissatisfaction.
"How is it?"
"The sword is too light, it'll throw me off balance. I apologize, shopkeeper, but could you get me a broadsword instead? This sword is too thin for me."
"Sorry kiddo, but I believe this should be most suitable depending on your physique." Somehow, the words of this man irritated Louise.
"This kind of sword does not suit my servant. Get him another one."
"B-but..."
"I said, Get. Him. Another. One!"
"Alright! Alright! Geez!" He walks through the doorway behind him again. "Damn ignorant nobles...they're just asking for it! Hehe" he disses them behind the curtain and raises an evil smirk.
'Wow…I wonder from whom did she got this dominating trait from.' Kazuya thought before releasing a sigh. "As I thought, a blacksmith might have been a better option than a regular weapons shop."
"How so?" She turn to him with a curious look.
"Based on my knowledges of blacksmiths, they always keep their weapons in peak condition and always gives out the most suitable weapon for their clients as they have good judgements as well. Unlike that man just now, he was not that good in that case."
"Sorry for the wait!" The shopkeeper returns, this time bringing out a broad shining golden sword. Just as they asked for, the shopkeeper brought out a larger sword for Kazuya. The sword was really eye catching as the duo was caught admiring the shiny blade. The shopkeeper hands the sword over to Kazuya, allowing him and Louise to take a closer look at it.
"This is the best item we have in our store! Forged by the famous alchemist mage, Lord Schvert of Germania! This sword can cut through steel ever so easily!"
"Is that so..." Kazuya says without a glance to the shopkeeper as he holds the sword closely to his eyes, but as he does so, he couldn't help but smile as if he was delighted. "Ah~ Alchemy; the most interesting form of magic!" Kazuya exclaims as he slides a finger over the golden blade. "It's a pity that my strongest aptitude was for fire...it would have been amazing if I had earth instead."
"Is alchemy really that interesting?" Louise asks him with a furrowed eyebrow.
"Indeed Milady! Alchemy is a blend of science, mysticism, and philosophy that has captured human imaginations for centuries, and I have been a fan of it for a long time." He explains with an enthusiastic smile. "With the right knowledge, anything is possible with alchemy, be it powerful weapons that'll outrival anyone or potions that can heal any kind of wounds or deseases!"
Louise began to imagine how her life would be if she was a master alchemist, with her laughing with pride and Kirche kneeling in front of her in defeat. "Now that you say it that way, it does sound kind of interesting." She mused before returning her focus. "So how much for the sword?" Louise inquired the shopkeeper.
"Three thousand if you're using New Gold coins."
"Th-three thousand!? You can buy a nice house and garden with a forest with that much!" Louise exclaims in shock.
"A good sword is comparable to a castle. Its a good deal if one estate will do."
'If I buy that sword I'll be left with only a few hundreds...' Louise starting thinking in worry as she counts up the amount of gold she will have later.
"Hmm...you might be right about that good sir, but sadly we won't be buying this." Kazuya hands back the sword.
"E-eh?!" The shopkeeper was surprised as the sword was dropped back into his hand, and so was Louise who looks at Kazuya with wide eyes. "W-why?! This is such a good sword! You might not even be able to buy a sword like this anywhere else!"
"Perhaps that is true but, gold...isn't really my taste." He waved off. The shopkeeper just stares at him in disbelief, stunned by the fact that his customer just rejects his prized item.
Now, since the sword offered by the shopkeeper was not preferable, Kazuya began to look around the shop, searching for any other usable weapons. As his eyes were exploring, he notices a bunch of weapons gathered together in a barrel. One of them in particular was actually drawing his attention. As if, the weapon was calling out to him. "Hmm..." He slowly walkes over towards the barrel.
"Kazuya?" Louise calls out to him as she notices him acting strangely. As he got close enough to the barrel of old weapons, Kazuya selectively pulls out one of them, it was one rusty sword caused by years left neglected. The handle of the weapon is similar to ones used to hold greatswords as it was long and sturdy, while the blade was similar to a Japanese Katana as it was one edged albeit the blade was not curved and slender like the traditional ones.
"This is a nice blade..." He says as he carefully examines the blade, ignoring the rust, it's edge still looks as good as a normal sword.
"Hey, how much is this for?"
"That rusty old thing? Meh, I'll sell it for...maybe a hundred gold maybe?"
"You want me to buy that?!"
"A hundred and twenty five if you get me some polishing tools." Kazuya offered.
"Deal!" The shopkeeper agreed.
A few minutes later...
"I can't believe you had me buy that rusty junk!" Louise complained as she walks on the road after exiting the Weapons Shop.
"I apologise Milady, But I had to say something quick before that man tries to scam us with his other items."
"Scam us? What are you talking about?"
"Milady...gold is not a strong material suitable for weapons crafting ..." He sweatdrops as he explains to Louise.
"Huh...?"
'I guess she wasn't thought the proper value about metals...' He smiled pityingly. "Milady, gold, as beautiful as they are, they are the weakest metals when it comes to density or should I say hardness. Hence making them incompatible to be used as combat weapons."
"What?! That man tried to sell us a useless sword!?"
"To be more specific, it was actually a decoration or ceremonial kind of sword. The sword might have been useless in combat but it serves the purpose of displaying one's royal authority if they were one."
They continue on walking, heading for the Tailor Shop as their second destination. Unbeknownst to them, they were being followed by Kirche and Tabitha who were a few steps behind them.
"That wench came here to woo Kazuya by buying him a present! How conceited! Even though she's nothing more than Louise the Zero!" Kirche grumbles in irritation, gritting her teeth. As if hearing Kirche's voice, Kazuya's ears twitched as he heard the word 'zero' . The word had somehow became a sensitive word for him as it was for his master.
'Did I just heard Kirche calling Louise 'Zero' again?' He looks around in confusion, unable to find her anywhere. 'Maybe I'm just feeling paranoid.' He shrugged before he realise he just played himself. 'Oh damn it.' He face-palmed.
"By the way, Kazuya."
"Yes?"
"Explain to me how is that worth more than that golden sword?" She asks while pointing to the sword.
"In all honesty, the condition of the sword is truly not a sight you would want to see used in battle and it something I wouldn't pick out myself either, but something is telling me that I must take this sword and that I would regret it later on if I don't."
"Hmm, is that all?" Louise gives him a sceptical look.
"Haha...well, I have yet to find myself enough answers to give you Milady, as my actions may have had been moved by impulse." He sweatdropped. "Though I promise that this weapon shall hinder my abilities so rest assured."
"...it better." She mumbled softly.
Somewhere in an alley...
"Hurry Leah! This way!" Says a man as he drags a woman down in an alley, running.
"Wha-! Theo wait! What's going on!?" The woman tries to ask him. But he didn't 't stop nor did he listened, he continued on running while dragging the woman. The man was sweating profusely, his face was written with fear and worry, as if he was afraid of something.
Behind them, a silhouette in the shape of humanoid insect morphing into a human can be seen walking slowly on the same path as the ones did earlier. It was following them, as if chasing down a prey into a trap.
"Gehehe...there's nowhere for you to run with your lover, bird. GEHAHAHAHAHA!" He laughed.
Tailor shop...
"Good morning, Ms Quinn." Louise greets the owner of the shop as she and Kazuya enters the shop.
"Good morning to you too, Miss Vallière. Here to repair your uniform again? And who is this man you brought with you?"
"No, I'm here on a different reason and this man is my servant." Ms. Quinn blinked for a second, as if she was confused.
"Servant?" She gazes at Kazuya standing beside Louise. "You found yourself a butler? That is actually quite surprising..."
"The situation is kind of complicated..."
"I see. Well then."
A few minutes later...
Kazuya walks out of the dressing room, adjusting his collar and bow tie, fully clothed in the butler uniform given by Ms Quinn.
"My!" Ms Quinn gasped. "He looks so good in it! Don't you think, Ms Vallière?"
"Y-yes...he does..." Louise gazes over at Kazuya with a blush creeping up on her face. "Well I have to admit he does look good in it." She huffs, looking away from him.
'Hmm...now I see why Aoi prefers to become a butler.' He thought as he checks his sleeves. 'A butler uniform feels much better than a maid's. What's the word...free, I supposed.'
"How does it feel, Mr Kazuya?"
"It's great, Ms Quinn. Thank you very much."
"Oh ho ho, what a polite gentleman you are!" She waves him off. "I made this uniform a long time ago for a certain customer. It was supposed to be retrieved by the next day by the person who ordered it but due to unforeseen incident it was never retrieved."
"Did something happened?"
"Well..." She puts a hand on her face, smiling as she reminisces the memory. "the noble lady who ordered it cancelled at the last minute. They had quite the reason. It turns out the uniform was for a retired knight who wanted to be the noble lady's butler. It was sudden but she said her father just told to just get married. Ohohoho! How romantic."
"That truly is quite the story..." Kazuya commented.
"Yeah..." Louise agreeing with him, both of them sweatdropping.
"Well, they do say 'with love, anything is possible'."
"Hmm. You don't say." Kazuya shrugged.
"How much is it?" Louise asks.
"Oh just take it. There's no need of you to pay it."
"Wait, we can't just—"
"Oh please, just do. Just take it as if the noble lady had paid it for you." Ms Quinn smiled, but Louise was still hesitant about it.
"Well then, Ms Quinn, if you don't mind, could you sell us a knitting set?"
"Hmm? Oh sure!"
Outside
"Come again~!" Ms Quinn waves at them as they leave her shop.
Now not only is Kazuya carrying a sheathed sword holstered over his back, but also a bag filled with knitting materials in his hand. He walks with a grateful smile on his face, satisfied with today's purchases.
Currently as they walk along the road heading towards the stable to return to the academy, Louise decides to ask Kazuya some questions regarding his most recent purchase. Or technically hers...
"Kazuya, explain to me why do you need a knitting kit?" She points to the knitting kit they bought earlier. "Do you even know how to properly use the needles?" Now she points her finger at him.
"But of course!" He answers with no hesitation. 'I did use them for some experiments before...' He sweatdrops as he remembers the time where he was knitting some animal skin with a devlish grin. "And why I decided to buy them is because they might prove useful to make you some tools."
"Tools?"
"Magic tools other than wands. If using your wands doesn't help you cast proper spells then how about other forms of spell castings?"
"Y-you...you can make one?!"
"Shush Milady!" Kazuya places his finger on her lips. "Yes, I can. And I'll make sure it'll work for you." He winked at her. Louise was fascinated by the idea, her heart fills with hope where she will no longer Louise the Zero. But then it dawns on her, can she still call herself a proper mage if she were to use other magic tools than her wand? Even after breaking the tradition that has been gone on for centuries?
"A magic tool to replace my wand...can I still be called a mage if I do that...?" She spoke to herself, unintentionally letting Kazuya hear it.
"This is just but a temporary solution until I find the root of your problem, Milady." Louise gazes at him. "You can still be a proper mage even if you use an uncoventional path. In fact, my--ehem! In fact, you could bring upon a new revolution in Halkagenia for finding solutions for those who have problems with magic!" His words eases her heart as her mind now fills with different thoughts that sparks joy. (...I have no words.) "Each and every one of us are different milady, we all have different talents and strength. Even you, will find yours someday, I am sure of it."
Louise listened intently to his encouraging words, her expression slowly shifting from uncertainty to a glimmer of hope. The idea that an unconventional path could lead to a revolution in magic intrigued her. She had always felt the weight of her own struggles with magic, but now, a newfound sense of purpose began to take root.
"A new revolution huh..." Her lips curled into a smile. "Very well! Are there any other things you need? We'll go and buy them now!" She says enthusiastically.
"Well, is possible for us to obtain leather?"
Back to the alleyway
"Shit! It's a dead end!" Theo cuss as he almost runs into a wall.
"Theo! Would you please explain to me what is going on!" The brown haired girl, Leah, asks him pleadingly.
"Leah I--!"
"Gehahaha!" A man suddenly came up behind them, laughing as he does so. "There no where else for you to run now, bird! First, I'll devour that woman, and then you're next!"
"Theo what is he talking about?!"
"Get behind me Leah." Theo stands in front of her, hiding the scared girl behind his back.
"Now aren't you just brave..." Stained glass began appearing on the unknown man's body and face. Not a moment later, his body began to shift and he turns into a moth fangire. "Little bird!?"
"I won't let you harm Leah!" Leo's body began to shift as a dark energy like aura began to to engulf him, at the next moment, the aura disperses with black feathers, and his figure was replaced with entirely different form.
His head had turned into crow-like head, featuring sharp, beak-like noses that tapers to a fine point. His eyes are large, featuring a keen, amber like glint, his eyebrows are formed by a subtle ridge of feathers. Long, raven-black hair flows down their backs, contrasting strikingly with their feathered bodies.
His arms that resemble those of humans but are adorned with jet-black, feathered hands ending in wickedly sharp talons, allowing him to either fight with it or by using weapons he could his talons on.(pun intended) His legs are slightly jointed, with clawed feet that provide stability both on the ground and in perched positions. On his back, a pair of majestic, obsidian wings span out from his shoulder blades, capable of rapid, silent flight. Lastly, there is an intricate tattoo or pattern drawn accross his chest.
"Theo...you—?!" Leah gasps shock to see her dear friend becoming a monster.
"Ha!" Theo darted towards the moth fangire and tackles him, trying to push him away from Leah as much as he can.
"Why, you brat!" The Moth Fangire clenches his fists and delivers a blow to Theo's back. Theo yelped in pain but continued to push back the Moth Fangire, retaliating with a series of punches to his back.
Theo!" She called out in deep worry, her heart sinking as she witnessed him being injured by the Moth Fangire.
"Run Leah! Hurry!"
"No! Not without you!"
"Grr! You damn brat! Get off me!" The moth Fangire draws out his sword from behind him and slashes Theo's back.
"Gaaaah!!" Theo yelps in pain and his grip on the moth Fangire weakens.
The Moth Fangire struck his knee into Theo's abdomen, sending him hurtling into a wall. Theo's back met the wall with a resounding crack, causing it to splinter on impact. He crumpled to the ground, reverting to his human form.
"Ah~!" The Moth Fangire whips his head towards Leah, who finches and steps back in fear. "Time to feed~" The moth Fangire slowly walks closer to Leah with her slowly getting closer to the wall behind her.
"No! Leave her alone! Leaaaah!!" Theo tries to get up but was unable to, as he had no strength in him. Transparent fangs protrudes from the Moth Fangire's back and Theo's fear finally comes to light.
At the Academy
Within the academy's library, hanging on the ceiling, Kazuya's violin was laid bare within it's open case. It's strings were being played by unknown force, singing out a tune. But the tunes that it was singing was not a melodious one, but rather one that was alarming danger.
"Hey guys…? Does anyone hear that?" A student among a group of nobles asked as he heard the violin's tune. Shuddering to how scary it is not being able to see who's playing such a creepy tune.
Louise' room
Kivel was sitting on the coffee table, studying the dead Fangire language with Sagarcia helping him on the pronunciations. But his studying was abruptly stopped, as he heard the voice of the violin calling out to him.
"Oh! Yosha! It's been awhile since I've that violin playing that tune! Kazuya, I'm coming!" He jumps off the table and flies out of the window.
"Evah a efas pirt" Sagarcia waves goodbye to him as she watches him go.
Back to Kazuya and Louise...
"Come again!!" The merchant shout out to them as they leave his shop with leather in hand.
"Anything else?" Louise asks her familiar as they walk, this time for real they're going back.
"I believe we have everything for now, and thank you for asking. Now then, let us return. I believe you must be feeling fatigued now."
"Yeah, you're right. I could use some rest right now."
As they were walking along the busy street, Kazuya stops moving all of the sudden. Looking in a certain direction and releasing a deep sigh as he had received a message or something.
"Kazuya?" Louise gives him a worried look. "Is there something wrong?"
"Well...kind of. It seems our journey to the Academy may have to be delayed a little longer, Milady," he informs her with a regretful expression.
"Huh? Why?" Louise frowned. Suddenly without a word, Kazuya swiftly moves behind Louise. She was surprised by his sudden action and the only reaction she could gave was a glance as Kazuya picks her up in bridal style. "WHa?!" Louise yelped.
"Please hold on tight Milady." Kazuya advises her before he leaps high into the sky.
"HIIIYAAAAAAAHHHH!!!" She screams as she clutches tightly to Kazuya, fearing that she could fall. As they began to descent, Kazuya lands on a roof of a nearby building and continues to leap across the city. "HEY!! KAZUYA WAAAAAAAAIT!!!"
Back to the Alley...
"LEEEAAAAAAAH!!!!" Theo howls the name of his beloved companion, being eaten away by the Moth Fangire. The color of her flesh becoming clear transparent, losing their original form, leaving nothing but only her clothes retaining their own colors. The now emptied shell of a human falls to the ground knees first, her torso followed suit and finally her head, faced towards Theo with her hollowed eyes.
If words could describe of how much pain a man is feeling upon loosing his most cherished person, he was definitely in so much pain.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!" Theo punches the ground in anguish, tears streaming out of his eyes.
"Now...its your turn, birdboy." The moth fangire turns to Theo, ready to devour his life and soul as his glass fangs floats over him. Just as he was ready to kill Theo, he was suddenly kicked away from him by an attack from above causing him to roll away on the ground. "Gaahh!! Who dares attack me!?" The Moth Fangire looks up to see his aggressor. "A butler?! A mere butler dares harm me?!"
"Is that something so shocked about?" Kazuya asks with a raised eyebrow as he put Louise down who just falls to her knees.
"Oi Kazuya! Why did you just grabbed me and started jumping around all of a sudden?!"
"I deeply apologize Milady, but an emergency occurred that I have to made chase."
"Just what is that so called emergency!?"
"Hey you! I'M. STANDING. RIGHT. HERE!" The fangire yelled, grabbing the attention of Louise.
"Wha? What is that!?"
"That milady, is a Fangire."
"Fangire...? That thing is!?"
" Hoo~? You're aware of our kind, butler?" Kazuya shrugs at him.
"Pretty much. You and I did come from the same race after all."
"WHat?! Tch! And I thought the other clans siding with the Humans were bad enough. To think one of our own is also with them. Traitor!"
"Say what you want Fangire, I couldn't care a dime about those damn rules." Kazuya takes a glance at the injured person behind him and the lifeless woman near the other wall.
"Wait, Kazuya! What's going on!? Why does that Fangire looks different than you!?" Kazuya reaches for the sword on his back and pulls it out, holding the blade pointed down. Similarly to the Japanese Sword stance, gedan no kamae albeit not in its proper traditional stance. Just like how the duel with Guiche went on, the familiar runes of Gandalf on his left hand activates, giving him a boost of strength and agility.
"I hope you may forgive me Milady, for I still hide secrets from you. Especially the truth of my race. When we return, I promise that I will explain everything." Louise stares at him in disbelief. Before saying anything else, she takes in a deep breath and releases it.
"You better, and this is an order."
"Understood, oh and please take care of the man behind you and don't touch the woman over there. No matter what you do, do not touch her." Kazuya advances towards the Moth Fangire with the sword prepared in hand.
"You are not assuming your Fangire form?! Arrogant brat!" The moth Fangire runs at him with his sword raised. The moth fangire brings down his sword with Kazuya raising his, making their swords clash and letting out a metallic ring. Now caught in a sword lock, the two stares at each other dead in the eyes.
Taking advantage of the situation, Kazuya grabs the shoulder of his foe and pulls him away with him as far as possible to the other side of the alley in order to ensure that Louise doesn't get caught in the fight. Just as they got far enough, the moth fangire raises his foot and delivers a kick at Kazuya's abdomen, but he dodges in time before the kick connected.
As the two continue to their swordplay, Louise takes this chance to assess the injured person behind her. The man was losing a lot of blood, most of them seemed to be coming from his back. His mouth was dripping blood as well, implying he has internal injuries as well and there was a cut on his cheek.
"Leah...Leah..." He had been calling someone's name who she never heard of for a while now. Looking over at the clothes that has no human wearing it, she wonders; 'Could that be the person he keeps calling out to? Why doesn't she have a body?? Even more, where's her face??'
"Hey, are you alright?" She asks him, she reaches her hand to him in attempt to help alleviate his injuries but her hands was slapped off.
"Get off me!! Just let me die!!" He yelled at her, causing her to pull back. "Just *hic* leave me alone..."
Understanding his pain, she leaves him be. She then turns her attention back to Kazuya, only to be overcome with deep fear as she observes two translucent fangs hovering just above him, as if they're waiting for the right moment to strike while he's distracted with the fight against the Fangire.
"Kazuya behind you!!" She warns him.
"Hiyaahh!!" The moth fangire delivers a powerful downward stroke, forcing Kazuya to defend with his sword raised high and causing him to skid backwards almost reaching the wall behind him. "Die!!!" Just before Kazuya could turn around and fend off against the attack behind him, the fangs began to fall fast onto him. But just before it touches him, an unknown fast flying creature zips in and deflects the fangs away. "Aaarrghhh!! My beautiful fangs!!!"
"Heh! You're a hundred years to early to even sink your fangs on Kazuya!" The flying creature turned out to be Kivel.
"[Osoi!]"
"Hehehe! Sorry!"
"Kivel?!" Louise calls out as she notices him.
"Yo, Louise-chan!" He saluted at her
"What the hell is that bat?!!"
"He's my partner, and that's all you need to know." Kazuya raises his unoccupied hand forward. "Kivel!"
"[Haiiyo!]" Kivel twirls around Kazuya's arm before he proceeds to lowers his jaw and bite his hand. "[Gabu!]" He called out, allowing Kazuya's Fangire marking to appear on his skin. Ghostly chains magically appeared around Kazuya's waist and wrapped around him before melting and becoming a blood red belt with a perch. The belt had slots holding ornate whistles on the sides, there were 6 in total but two of them lack ornate decorations and are just translucent in color.
Afterwards, Kivel flies down to the red belt and attaches himself to the perch upside down. "Henshin." Kazuya announces as he crosses his arms together in front of his face with one of his hand shaped like a claw and the other still holding the rusted sword and one foot step forward. In an instant, he was covered in quicklsilver that morphed and then shattered to reveal his new form.
He was clad in a full black bodysuit. The torso armor looked like a silver vest with high collar and a blood red chestplate that mimicked muscles. His shoulder armor resemblesd folded bat wings that were held to the armor by thin chains. He wore red armored gloves and his wrists sported silver bracelets. His right leg was covered with silver iron boot that reached his knee and was wrapped tightly with chains, as if to hold something back. The left leg was unarmored save for silver bracelet around the ankle. His head was covered with black helmet with visor shaped like a pair of yellow bat wings edged in red. In-betwen the top points of the wings was red ornament resembling a bat's head. The mouth guard was silver and framed by black fangs.
With the transformation completed, Kazuya lowers his hands to the sides, allowing all to witness the face he has now. Lo and behold the Knight of Darkness that basks under the moonlight of the night, Kamen Rider Kiva .
"[Saa, the Highlight of your Demise begins here." Kazuya says as he slides his claw along blade of his sword, causing little sparks to fly off as he slowly strodes towards the Moth Fangire, menacingly.
"N-no! It can't be!! Y-yo-you're Kiva!!" The moth Fangire trembles.
"Kiva...?" Louise muttered the name as she wonders what it means or who that is.
To be continued...
Author's notes:
Welp… Here we are, the end of chapter 4.
Now I know there was supposed to be more here, such as a fight scene of Kiva with the Fangire, Kazuya getting a call and all that, but I decided that should be put on the next chap. I mean, with the scenes that I've wrote on this chapter, it's going to end up pretty long. Too long that you might even need to pause you're reading of this for tomorrow.
Well, luckily I have finish the fight scene already along with the aftermath scene. Wait no, the aftermath scene isn't done yet. Still drafted. But it'll be done soon once I have a lot of free time.
Speaking about free time; I gotta report something regarding my situation. Recently, or should I say, a year ago after my last chap, I've entered college. You know what that means right? Yep. I'll be very busy. The course is about four years, and after that, is going to be looking for a job or something. so…expect very rare uploads from me.
Now some good news! I have decided when will Kazuya get his Bashaa Magnum! I haven't made any final decisions on the character except that they will be a female character. Just some quick questions;
1. Anyone have any name they wanna suggest?
2. A gun like the original series or a different firearm? I'm thinking of a rifle type.
Also, my dumb self just realized while he was writing this...according to other Zero no Tsukaima fanfics made by our fellow writers, they purposely delayed the Alchemy incident until the duel with Guiche passes. It took me a moment to realize the reason why they did so and oh my god. I just increased my work load onto my-goddamn-self. My damn sight is so narrow that I didn't see the point of it wtf.
Next, I wanna talk about Kazuya. So I have no idea on how to write or the describe the "Cool and Gentle" butler character, so I'll just do to the best of my ability. In fact, Kazuya was supposed to be the mature, composed, and cunning character but I'm having some difficulties doing that. Hope you'll bear with me on that.
A shout-out to Taiman215 for helping me beta this. And a call out for ZK Chromedragozoid and T'en-Faced Paladin, I borrowed the describing for Kiva transformation from them. And why did nobody told me that Dr. Exposition and ZK was the same person? I mean really, why? Man, I feel so dumb now.
