Ladybug Week Day 5
Portrait of a Family
Ruby rushed out of the house, balancing hot dogs in one hand and hamburger patties in the other walking to her father who had just started the barbeque.
"Here Dad!"
"Thanks, Ruby! Do you know if Blake wants any?" Tai asked.
"Oh yeah, and she also wants a family portrait!" Ruby said excitedly "With everyone! And I mean everyone!"
Tai had to admit that the idea of a large family picture would be something his daughters would think of
"I guess she's really coming out of her comfort zone"
Ruby giggled "Dad, Blake and I have been married for years, of course, she's out of her comfort zone!"
"Sorry. She just seems so quiet sometimes you know. Not that it's a bad thing, she's great and wonderful. And like I said on your wedding day, Anyone who can make you laugh and smile is okay in my book!
Ruby looked back on the many wonderful times she had with her wife. How incredibly lucky to have her by her side.
"She makes me smile and laugh every day!"
"Hey guys, I got the drinks"
Tai and Ruby looked towards the friendly voice which Tai answered to
"Thanks, Blake, hey where are the kiddos?!"
Blake smirked "Helping, right Sasha"
A teenage sheep-faunus girl walked out carrying a package of paper plates "Yeah Mom, oh and Briar is watching Lily. she'll let us know when she needs to be changed and all"
"Oh I can do that for her, hey I'll bring her out!"
Blake watched Ruby walk back into the house and then turned her attention to Sasha. Sasha was a small child when she and Ruby found her. The sole survivor of a massive Grim attack. The two trekked to find the closest village or town that would have an orphanage that would take in the young child. When they did they thought they found some place for the child to live but thanks to Ruby's keen eye she noticed something was wrong with the facility and took the child away. Soon the two women became attached to the toddler and unable to find a proper care facility. The two decided to raise the little girl as their own and so started their family.
"Hey, Sass, wanna help grill some dogs and burgers?" Tai asked.
"Sure, Grandpa!" Sasha replied with an excited smile as she was always eager to learn new things
"Come on kid, call me Tai!"
"Sure thing Grandpa Tai"
Blake chuckled at the banter her daughter and father-in-law were having. Ruby walked out of the house once again with their daughter Lily in her arms and their middle daughter Briar behind them. Blake didn't think she could have a future like this, a very beautiful, very wonderful family, and a very loving family. She wanted, not just this moment, but this life to be known forever. She wanted their families to come together. Her team, her wife, her children, her parents, her in-laws, and niece and nephews, everyone! Speaking of nieces and nephews…
Yang's loud "We're here!" could be heard all the way from the front door to the backyard. Briar rushed towards the front and met her aunts, Yang and Weiss, along with them was their daughter Rime. Briar and Rime greeted each other talking about their shared hobbies. Briar turned to her mother Ruby and asked if she and her cousin could go play video games which Ruby nodded. The children ran off leaving Ruby to greet her sister and sister-in-law.
"Hey guys, how's everything?" Ruby asked.
Yang chuckled. "Pretty good and you?"
Ruby giggled. "Also good!"
The two laughed and gave each other a side hug.
Yang looked at her niece that Ruby was cradling in her arm.
"...and this little one?"
Ruby sighed "She's finally letting me and Blake sleep!"
Yang giggled, she then turned towards her wife whose blue eyes were innocently looking at her niece then at Ruby, and then at Yang.
Ruby chuckled "Heya Weiss, wanna hold Lily"
"I'm sorry, you two were having such a beautiful moment I didn't really know where to come in!" she sighed "Hello Ruby and hello Lily!"
Ruby smiled. "Hey Weiss, hope you have been treating my big sis well"
"Of course I have!"
Ruby continued to giggle "I know you have!"
The day continued into the night with more guests coming such as Weiss's mother, sister, and brother, as well as Kline who offered to help with cooking and serving, Soon after was Qrow along with Robyn followed by Blake's parents, and then JNR as well as oscar. The night continued and came to what Blake wanted to do.
"Hey guys, I called everyone here because… well I love you all! I couldn't imagine how I could be a part of this wonderful family. From Ruby and our three kids to my sisters, everyone! And I want to commemorate this with a family picture, So everyone if you please? Everyone laughed and cheered in agreement and Ruby walked up to her wife and gave her a kiss on the check
"That was a lovely blakey!"
"Thanks, Ruby!"
The camera was set up and everyone got into position, there was even a Raven that flew and landed next to Tai. The camera flashed and the picture was taken. A picture of a large and beautiful family!
