After a close call with an asteroid, the senior crew see that Wesley Crusher has very strong skills. For Captain Jean Luc Picard, after learning Wesley was trained under Commander Daniel Jackson. He takes it upon himself to allow Wesley to be trained in on the job training. On board the enterprise, as the crew goes through their first year together.

Chapter 2: Truths And Mission Troubles

"Son you better just tell your peers, and it's going through the cub crew." Will added to him and he nodded to him. "Good idea, we got it going through our civilian passengers, as you're the son of our CMO, that's not special treatment, you're the leader of the cub crew, when my team is busy." Ensign Sarah Hailey said to that and Picard nodded. "Good idea baby, we do that then." Beverly said and the teenage girl smiled as they looked at him.

"But the reason she and I call each other by name is she is a close friend of mine, and I knew them for years here, I knew he grew up now. But our connection remained, so if something comes and he tries to tell us this, it's because in many ways I'm like a father to him here. But after his father died, I took over and I tried to come back as often as I could to see them since." Picard said and they nodded with a gentle smile.

"That's fine, we're fine with that, the newbies though are going to get annoyed we were part of Atlantis and some of them are either descended NID. Or guys like Johnson after he flipped out after the stupid idiot left the planet too soon." Greyson said and Wesley started laughing. "Nice reminder, but if that happens again we got a case of fights breaking out all over this ship, Lieutenant."

"Hey guys, before we have further problems lets get this under control, but I think this was the fall out after Kawalsky got infected by the little bugger. After Apophis attacked the base at the time, though this keeps up, Sir. And we can use our grandparents as a reference right now, if they start doing it with us. At the moment as the years go by right now." he said and Picard crossed his arms.

"Uh yeah, I'm a pre cadet in training here, Data activated me, I can help out when you need me to, Sir." Wesley added and Picard nodded smiling. "That's fine Wesley, but I need to know immediately if something strange is going on, before we have another reaction with the engine or worse." he said and Wesley nodded. "Aye Sir, but I think our next one is Sam's now, which could be Tasha's turn." he said to him and he nodded.

"If it is Cadet, well then the next on the list is about Sam, or in our case, it's Tasha at the moment here right now, but these male characters. And from planets that had a male supremacy, but if they created our entire lives, back in the past and into a tv show here. Well then we need to reference it and fast, before this results in a serious load of danger at the moment here." he said and Wesley felt his anger growing at that.

"The first man that touches you like that is a dead man and I mean that right now, Sis." he said and she pressed her forehead to his as she answered him. "I get it, but you're my kid brother and I know you're getting protective of me, Wes, but I can take care of myself, I'll be okay right now." she said and he nodded as he hugged her and she tightened her arms around him at that as Beverly and Picard both smiled at that response then.

"This is going to be a long year if we keep having close calls like this, guys." Wesley said and the 8 nodded in agreement to his opinion at that. "Yes and I agree with you, but I'm just saying this, someone gets jealous as we're spending all our time on you and whoever the rest. Now, of your version of senior class, in junior crews there is, and I'm not tolerating that." Picard said to him and he nodded at that as he crossed his arms.

"What you want a bet they're like that Charlie kid that was annoying Commanders Jackson and Riker, what was his name again Sir, Cadet Barrow, Barrett?" he asked and Will crossed his arms then. "Cadet Charlie Barlough." he said and Wesley nodded. "Great, if he immediately insulted Daniel it's because he thought he walked right into Warren, that's Dave Warren, who's a red, but like me." he said and Will nodded sternly to that.

"If they are and I catch that child and someone is in big trouble, you never left, because you never wanted to leave us, if you get in finally. But one year, raising you ourselves, if Dr. Crusher leaves for that year, and we're the ones taking care of you, that no matter what they say. We stay focused on you and whoever is part of your version to the Gamma team." Will said to him and Picard crossed his arms at that remark gently.

"And I am saying it again, what happened today is never to be talked about again, and I hear whoever did in earshot of these little brats. Is getting thrown off this ship, do I make myself perfectly clear?" he asked and the senior staffs nodded sternly in agreement. "That's no problem from us, as we all made that pact, but I hear that conversation, when we got these kids on board the ship you're being arrested for it."

"And want to get in trouble just continue with the insults we were all on board the Hood, before we arrived here." Shimoda said to that sternly. "And I don't know how many times I got to say this, but it's not all think on your feet and think fast, you need every minute here, Cadet. But you want attention use your mental muscles and not the real one, and while you're driving the blasted ship here people, we got it worse."

"As we're the ones making sure everything is working right, but want attention stop trying to show off, so get over yourselves now. You knuckleheads it's brains over brawns." Macdougal said and Picard nodded to that sternly. "I'm a pre cadet, he's a cadet in advanced training, and before a fight broke out between us, that's me and Dave, and him, and Daniel ended it before it went to blows here right now, Sir."

"Dave was giving me a few tips, here, in the way that Jen's grandmother did, before Annie's chose her, at the time and listening to it now. Said it the conversation between us, the Commander was going to make a recommendation to you, but before we had the chance to talk about it. This happened as you see me in action as I did the entire thing for you." he said and Picard nodded to him gently at that remark then.

"Like always it's I never needed to show off just to you, to get you to trust me, I see passed the facade, and after who knows how long. Now we been together before they arrive, then again, for you, and I just proved the point of your lesson and our future rec room's leader's point. And one too many times." he said and Picard nodded. "Well that makes perfect sense now." Stewart said and Picard nodded in agreement to that gently

"Hmm, mm, yes and you're certainly right, we've been together so long you see passed our ranks and know us as us, and not as the legends. Everyone makes us out to be here, but key point there, you want the person you want as a mentor..." he started to say and Wesley smiled. "Then get to know them, know everything about them here." he said and he nodded as Will hid a chuckle to that remark gently at that.

"Issues here, I know you guys better then you know yourselves here, but again, and like you said, we made a pact that what happened today. Said was never to be spoken of again, and whoever hears this conversation over you and mom, they're going to make it sound like something else. But try that and they're endanger, once Tasha hears this, of getting arrested for insubordination and conspiracy and sedition here."

"But you want a verification, ask whoever was involved and not take it at face value." he said and the group nodded sternly in agreement. "And to repeat that, whoever does imply that, and when I'm in the room with you, is facing death by court martial after getting dragged in. Said in is into the Captain's office for this." Tasha said to that and Will, MacDougal and Shimoda all nodded sternly in agreement to her thoughts at that.

"And again, do you understand what kind of problems this leads to, when the cub of the subject of that conversation here, is beyond gifted. If you don't and you're asking for trouble in later years you little brats, you want a verification, ask before you start with the crude rumors. Listen to me you little brats, just because we pay more attention to him and whoever else is with him, doesn't mean you should get jealous."

"We all see it in one way, but you want attention use the mental muscles not the real ones and while you're the ones driving this ship. We got the real job of making sure everything is working correctly, so get over yourselves you knuckleheads, it's brains over brawns." Macdougal said to that sternly and Picard nodded in stern agreement and they ended it at that remark then and the crew as they ended the conversation and prepared for the long haul now.

Where No One Has Gone Before:

"Captain's log, Stardate 41263.1. We have rendezvoused with the USS Fearless, from which a Starfleet propulsion expert and his assistant are beaming over to conduct tests on the Enterprise's warp drive engines. They have completed similar adjustments on two other Starfleet vessels." Picard read out to the interim, before coming onto the bridge, as he and Will were in the midst of a debate, over allowing an unknown, particularly arrogant engineer

Run tests on their engines now as Deanna was with them. "I don't understand your concern, Number One, they're not authorised to make any alterations in our engines. And according to Starfleet's report, they will simply test different ways of entering warp speed. And different intermix formulas. What's the harm in that?" he asked and he nodded. "Reading Wes's spec's for the generator he created now, he could get us to max, without over taxing the engines."

"But it's the specs that Kosinski sent us, in my opinion, sir, they're gibberish, as Wes's modifications make more sense to me, after we had a chance to relax. And after his getting us out of range of both threats at once." he said and Picard nodded gently. "Gibberish?" he said and Frakes looked at Spiner. "Mister Data, would you explain?" he said and Data nodded. "Sir on comparing the 2 together, I saw and found Wesley's schematics, to be very directed now."

"So directed in fact, he could get us around, the obstacles without over taxing the engines, to the level of a burn out, but upon reading Kosinki's. Sir, we put Mister Kosinski's specs into the computer and ran a controlled test on them, there was no improvement in engine performance." he said and he nodded to that. "Then how do you explain Starfleet's report that the same tests on the USS Ajax and on the Fearless over there, resulted in a measurable increase here."

"In propulsion, because if Wesley did it again, I'm now getting seriously concerned about allowing that child around the engines for upgrades. When we don't need them, I know he's an engineer, but this is taking science experiments way too far. After we all realized he was helping us, I think he was trying to prevent the infected from getting into the control room. But if that's when drugged, what happens when he's thinking straight here." he said and Will chuckled then.

'I think we get the idea here, drugged is four good ideas in an hour, but when thinking straight, whoever is trying to hijack us. Is getting his entire mental arsenal thrown at them.' Will thought to this, as he hid a chuckle. "He's uploading the generator schematics into the system right now." he said and Picard nodded. "Son, be careful before you blow something out next now, careful son, careful." he said and Deanna shook her head, smiling at that.

"Yeah time to drop the act now, but Will, it's time, we just got back together, we got years together now." she said and he nodded smiling and Geordi chuckled then as Tasha, Worf and Data smiled gently. "Alright point taken you two, I understand, but something should be coming back soon, it chooses now to do it and whatever ranks we had. With the memory exchange, we use that now and with it, Wesley's knowledge now." Picard said and they both nodded to him.

"Teenagers, look Sir I know the concern, but with his mother the CMO, knowing Tasha was out of commission and with her Geordi, but we needed the back up. As this is one upgrade to the engine, is fine, but the propulsion systems generator in truth. Got us to 5x's maximum warp, getting us out of range, before the sun exploded now, but this was emergencies. What Kosinki intends to do, is un-needed upgrades, not when we're this young, in ship performance."

"Our engines are new, sir, top condition, the tests on those older ships may have simply been to straighten out some engine inefficiency." he said and Picard nodded. "Bridge from engineering." they heard and he nodded. "Go ahead!" he called back at that. "Sir I'm almost done up here, the upgrades are ready, but that intention here. I agree with the Commander, these configurations don't make any sense, whoever his assistant is."

"Could be the cause, the ancients have the power to boost engine capabilities, his assistant could some higher up race. We never encountered before, with the same powers, Sir listen to me carefully. By of those races, when they jack up the engines, starts going in and out of phase. By that I mean they start going in and out of stealth phase, like they're wearing an Asgard cloak." Wesley said gently and he nodded sternly.

"I accidentally did it after Daniel told me to focus, and we got blasted clear across the system, it took me two weeks to recover from the jolt." he said and Geordi covered his eyes then. "And you're a teenager, that's a teenage Ancient, what happens to a stronger person with these powers." Worf said in aggravation and Picard nodded sternly in agreement to that news. "That's like mental weight lifting a few hundred pounds, Sir." Tasha said and he nodded.

"Are you saying he's a race, as powerful as the Ancients?" he said gently and they heard a sigh. "Could be, but I have to watch him to know that, my mentor, in Ancient training, is the commander's best friend, Commander Jackson." he said as Will straightened. "Oh dear god, I never thought of that, but he's right, if this assistant of his, is one of the quartet. Or someone just like them, we got a problem!" Geordi snapped and Will nodded sternly then.

"Whoa, yeah he sure is, is anyone else getting their memory back here, of this exchange, after we shot ourselves to 2003?" Wesley asked over the radio and he nodded gently as the quartet smiled, feeling their memories re-engage themselves from 2003. Said which carried their entire 5.4 years together, the knowledge of his accident and the hearing. "Yeah we are, but I forbid you to talk to or consort with him, when I'm not in the room here."

"With you, and do what you were working on when I get in there, but I just got overly protective here, so with that in mind, last month was the starter. From here on in now, it's like next year, when we were the one raising you, after Kate arrived here now. You're my responsibility, with being my student now, son, so I'll be down there soon now." Will said and they heard a fast response. "Aye aye Sir, I will, Lieutenant Crusher reporting in." he said and they smiled.

And in agreement to that. "I'm about to update the security plan Tasha, Worf, it's going to prevent anyone contaminated or worse. From accessing the system here, so Commander, you better get down here when I do this." he said and Will nodded. "So a system's upgrade, security upgrade, engine, we're a colony and our star pupil here. Is now working a multitude of ideas, before I start his training next year." Will said and Picard smiled.

"One year student officer, next he's an on the job training-training ensign the following 3 years, before his last episode and Charlie and Robin Lefler arrive." he said and Will nodded, as Data smiled at that. "Is this like what you had in mind, adding Lal to the system, Wes, before Soong hijacked Data, just after our encounter with the ISS?" Geordi asked and they heard it. "Yeah, the first is going to prevent the spread of that computer game, the second now."

"Is Lal is now the Enterprise herself, with you compromised, Etana can't get that game off the ship, because Lal is the system computer now. She's basically the Enterprise herself, so the it, is now a she." he said and the quintet nodded. "Lovely, that's just what we need, we remember everything up to the girls and me getting shrunk. And now we're shot back to now, and have to do everything all over again." Picard said and Will nodded with a chuckle.

"And we all knew you spent 3 years working on it, that the hotshots can't get passed your computer skills here, you know exactly what we want, and without showing off to do it." Will said and knew he nodded with a smile. "Like I said these upgrades are going a little too far, but with us a flying colony, every time we have trouble. That it's always when we have outsiders on board right now, so doing what's needed to protect us." Picard said, smiling in affection gently.

"I realize that, but Dad I created a way to prevent being singled out here, but it involves the reactor I created here, but there are two ways. And Geordi you listening, because this covers the attempted emergency stop. After Soong dragged us to his hiding place." he said and Geordi nodded. "Well you, we, may have to use that same technique twice here, if he hijacks Data a second time." he said to him and Data nodded then.

"Agreed right now, as Soong never set up a forcefield over the engine panel here, that's your job, and you can set one up. And over the transporter room controls as we disable the site to site transports here. But these ideas are working perfectly, especially in the middle of an emergency medical situation here." Picard said gently to that opinion. "Well this involves, your remark on full stop, instead of easing back off the gas, so to speak here now."

"Is we're yanking the engine control chips, if they disable my tractor beam reactor control chip, which is the upgrade Will mentioned here. Said in the midst of traveling that fast, will act like an ocean ship anchor, anchoring us till we come to a stop." he said and Picard nodded gently. "Nice thinking, that's one way to slow us down, what's the other exactly, if you're down there?" he asked and they heard a smile enter his voice at the question.

"And the other is a little something I created for the war games, after we encountered the Borg, so in order to slow down, or speed up, is by chip increments. In numbering system of 20, 25, 45, 50, and 50 is full stop and we stay put. And till we can reverse the process, and I send us in the other direction again." he said and Picard smiled at that. "Nice thinking there, we come to a safe stop, without the final jolt." he said to him gently then.

"Yeah dad, but after studying up on other aliens as powerful as the quartet, and Q right now though he's Omac in disguise, I looked up travelers, to test the potentials. They do something to their engine tests, exceeding the highest speed, jus so the said potential can reverse the process, to put this bluntly, what he did last round. Was making me feel isolated from everyone else, but Daniel told mom this already."

"Already in what he gave you, in wanting to talk to you alone, last round, but rather then being singled out, Daniel said treat me normal. I can grow into my potential, but there is no need to rush things, Morgan and Daniel. They're my mentors for ancient training, I was studying Colonel Jackson's philosophy for 4 years since. But best train at normal speed, without any un-natural pushes." he said and Picard nodded gently then.

"Back to how it was, before the academy accident again, Captain, we get a year fixing our mistakes, our bond so strong, the Traveler hasn't got a prayer here?" Will said smiling and he smiled. "Agreed, our star pupil back where he belongs, hang on Wesley, Jacob Kurland, to the bridge please, Bradley, Sarah, Christina, Jason." he called out and 10 minutes later, the quintet arrived. "You wanted to see us Sirs?" Bradley Elliot asked and he nodded, smiling then gently.

"Did you get your memories returned?" he asked and they smiled and he nodded. "Very well then, boys, Christina, Sarah, I'm hereby assigning you to be the junior on the job training crew. And then once we add Lal, you're the ones in charge, but for the next year, and till we have the Hansons, Hanson's gang and the Marks's gang arrive. So you're separated here in on the job training so get changed into your training ensign uniforms, once Wesley's finished today."

"And he'll join you, because currently he's busy in the engineering test, Sarah, keep an eye on things, with Kosinski here, because his assistant targeted Wesley. But Wesley was in training by Daniel all this time here, and like your grandparents, Wesley was in training. For ancient training, you guy are my favorite students, before we add Robin Lefler and the Dayton twins." he said and they nodded. "I just got to watch the piloting lessons." Jake Kurland said to him.

"Yes and again, if you don't get it right once, you can try again later Jacob, but no reason to panic, you both do better in on the job training." he said smiling and he nodded, knowing their year together was about to result in a repeat then. "We will, guys our original careers, I'm an engineer, so we got work to do, but 2 technicians, 2 gold. And 3 reds, you're reds, but you do everything, alright J.J., now what." Sarah said and they nodded, as they went to prepare then.

"Easy on the competition here Sarah, we get that next year and till your brother starts at the academy, for now, we can relax." Geordi said and she nodded. "Yeah brother, my baby brothers." she said smiling and he smiled. "I better change uniforms myself, I'm in the wrong uniform, I'm an engineer here." he added and Picard nodded. "Agreed, and on the ship, you go by your real rank, Lieutenant Commander, Data, Wesley's taking conn." he said and he nodded.

"Oh boy, I'm still learning my powers as a Q, Wes was in training for 4 years, I need his help here, to handle that right now. But as Morgan said, with great power comes great responsibility and the power to affect great consequences." Will said and Picard nodded. "Then show Q why you deserve those powers, and more than the Reds like Maybourne or O'neill do. The reason you chose to stay is because of our bond, you love me like a father." he said and Will nodded then.

Before he could answer a flash appeared. "Q, you chose now to come visit?" Picard asked him and he nodded. "I assume your memories re-engaged themselves right on time?" he asked and they all nodded. "Yeah the entire crew got it back, but we're fixing said mistakes here, we also remember the exchange between us and Daniel, when we shot ourselves to 2003." Will said and he nodded. "Well with you that young, as a Q it's with great power." he said and he nodded.

"Comes great responsibility, and the power to effect great consequences, I remember, and I will not abuse your gift, I swear to that." he said and he nodded and disappeared. "Three missions then we get that, this is going to be another long month right now." he said and Picard nodded gently. "Yes, and knowing that type of power is dangerous when you're irritated, it's don't lose your temper, after Daniel set the garbage can on fire at the time, in his argument with O'neill."

"We've seen what Daniel can do with his power, from just a little hands on training with Wesley before Q turned their guns into our phasers, and they assumed our appearance. As we currently are here, so with Daniel's training, I think he could help you, but knowing Q. He's not allowing Daniel to help train you hands on, so instead here now, Wesley's doing it. Just don't lose your temper and practice on the holodeck, after he grants you it." he said and Will nodded gently.

"And that's enough of the pranks and practical jokes, but girl stay off the bridge." he said and Data smiled as Geordi chuckled at that. "The cat, before the billiard ball coming in here, and again, that's enough of the pranks. And practical jokes with the powers here boys, your powers are not a play thing right now, so that's enough of that already." Picard said and they heard a slight giggle over the radio at that. "Yes Sir." Will said and Deanna smiled at that response.

"So best call it after Etana here for us, we show the admirals how well Wes did during the game, and with Robin, Charlie, Jake and Lal at his side, when 3/4's of us were jacked here now." Geordi said to Picard and he nodded. "Agreed, our timer ends, directly at their's: the second Carter does it twice, when your grandfather and Landry gave him orders. There is no excuse, she never got over it, and sees Daniel's science as a hindrance." Will said and Picard nodded.

"Alright Wesley back at conn, as a training ensign again, Geordi is back in the right uniform and correct ranking, other than that, everything is the same. And then once Kate arrives, it starts up here, and next year, it's a year of training, with us raising him ourselves now." Deanna said in response and he nodded. "Well I wouldn't have it any other way, but quite frankly, they ask that question, heads are going to roll here, during Sarjenka." He said and then said it to Wesley.

"But you're 19 trapped in your 15 year old body again, so training cadet, I'm activating your training the way that Hank would suggest, you have to get 5000 on your SAT's. But there's nothing wrong with on the job training, you learn better by doing it for real. And anyway you and Jacob are my favorite students, till Data creates Lal again, so no rush. We take things extra slow here right now, as you pass every test we give you." he said and Will nodded smiling.

"Agreed here now, Daniel was training him, he been training him for 4 years Captain, whatever this traveler says about him. We, that's his mother and I, heard it already from Daniel, but treat him normal, he doesn't need his abilities. Or intellect thrown at him every time he turns around." Will said and Picard nodded. "Thank you for the warning, so you think he's an alien like the Asgard or the Ancients, so caution required." he said, in a suggestive advice tone to him.

"Yes that and I better say it for all of us, we know how good he is, that's very apparent to us, his gifts, he's very smart, very good at the out of the box thinking, but what he doesn't need are his skills, intellect and abilities thrown at him. And every time he turns around, his training is up to you, me, Will and Beverly, it's family business. And as that traveler is not family I will kindly warn him to stay out of our affairs, but from now on, is he better stay away from Wesley."

"Wesley is off limits starting now." Deanna said and Picard nodded. "Agreed." he said and Will nodded. "Does anyone else feel like this is that time that Soong dragged us to his hiding place, and he was going from mission to mission and asleep on his feet while doing it here?" Geordi asked, turning and the quartet nodded in aggravation as Picard said it for all 4 of them. "Yes, but this time we're not over doing it, and we're not on a deadline of medical emergencies here."

"So we got time to relax, and he can fix that engine, normally, as you and he get those chips back in place again. although Will. I think it best you stick close to him, though he's surrounded by the team right now, with Kosinski in there. I'm pairing him up with Sarah Hailey in terms of training in on the job training, and he's acting junior engineer. So the situations that had us need his quick eye, he's with the team those times." Picard said and Will nodded in agreement.

"Agreed, but not good at all, if he's a higher race, the maximum warp could shoot us clear across the universe, draining him into exhaustion. With him out and Kosinki not knowing what happened, it's up to Wes to get us back." he said and Picard nodded. "Alright thank you Wesley, once we see him, keep an eye on him, and you see anything strange, tell Commander Argyle." he said and knew he nodded as they ended it. "Best get up there." Picard said to him then,

And he nodded to the orders gently, as he and Deanna headed for the transporter room, with Macdougal counterpart, Lieutenant Commander Derek Argyle, with him "Welcome aboard, Mister Kosinski. I'm the First Officer, Commander William Riker, and this is…" he started to say and the engineer said it dismissively. "Where is the Captain, please?" he asked and he explained that. "He is engaged in other duties, Sir." he said with a warning tone then, and he said it quickly.

"A ship's engines should be a concern of the ship's Captain." he said to him, as Will, Argyle and Deanna were looking at the Traveler sternly. "They are, Sir, which is why they have made the First Officer directly responsible for an engine's condition. And performance. Guided, of course, by one of our Chief Engineers, Lieutenant Commander Argyle in this case." he said sternly to him. "Derek watch him carefully, he's after Wes." he said in a whisper and he hid a nod then.

"A pleasure, Sir, I appreciated receiving the specs." he said loudly, to prevent the Traveler from hearing what the duo were discussing. "To which you have no end of questions?" he said in aggravation then. "Aye, I have." he said to him and Will looked at the Traveler warily. "And you, sir, are listed as…." he started to say to him. "As Mister Kosinski's assistant, my actual name is unpronounceable by humans." he said to him gently then and he said it firmly then to him.

"You're from Tau Alpha C. That's very distant." he said to him firmly at that.. "All approved and described in the Starfleet communications, now…, I would like to set up. In the Engine Room immediately." he said to him then. "I'll have our Chief Engineer show you to his Engine Room." he said to him. "No need: I know my way around starships." he said and barges between Will and Argyle and out into the corridor, followed by his assistant, then Argyle and he sighed.

"One thing that Kosinski isn't hiding, his bad disposition." he said and she nodded sternly to him. "I don't trust that character around Wesley, not after said close call, and us nearly losing him once, we decided to treat him normal, no special treatment, as for Kosinski. Agreed, also, he's arrogant, overbearing, self-important, and very sure of himself and his ability." she said to him and he nodded, feeling his 33 year old mind trapped in his 29 year old body again then finally.

"And the other one, his assistant, that traveler?" he asked and she said it sternly. "He's the puzzle, with most life forms I can usually feel something, I may not be able to understand. Or interpret it, but I feel something, if only a presence, with him, is nothing: Empty space. It's as though he isn't even here, something about this concerns me. I don't know what, I can't point out a reason yet." she said and he nodded. "Better report to Bev." he said and then said it.

"Stay concerned, please, the safety of the Enterprise may be entrusted to these two." he said, before they separated and he headed for the engineering room, and found the quartet. Lieutenant Jennifer Barnfield, Lieutenant Commander David Jenson, and their Transporter room Chief, Miles O'brien scattered around the room, as Argyle was watching Wesley. And then saw the Traveler and nodded, knowing they were all getting defensive here in protecting him.

"Inform the Bridge I shall begin the first test in precisely fifteen minutes, why is that child here?" he asked, as Wesley was at an ancillary station, finishing his upgrade to the system then as Will exchanged irritated looks with Argyle. "That child is well loved in this crew, may have been a month but so what, he's the leader of the junior crew, pre academy training." Argyle said and he paled, realizing the engineering crew adored Wesley, and allowed him to join in now.

"That child also has a name, his name is Wesley, Cadet Wesley Crusher, he's a junior engineer, he's their student, and mine, so choose your words wisely here, Ensign." Will said sternly to him then and Argyle finished that. "He's also working on a school project, turned engineering upgrade we allowed here now, one that involves his own upgrades to the engines. So with that attitude, I don't trust you near the pool table here right now, with that arrogance of your's."

"Before you begin, there are some questions, so first off here, tell us how you arrived." he said sternly and Kosinki said it, as MacDougal, Shimoda and Chief Engineer Miles O'Brien crossed their arms sternly, waiting for the excuse then firmly then. "Why was I not informed of that, in order to save myself time, let me ask those questions for you. You received the information which Starfleet provided, you fed it into your computer as precisely as humanly possible."

"Then you did a controlled test. And then, to your astonishment, nothing happened, so you said, what's going on? This doesn't work, Kosinski's a fraud, you see, I have had this conversation repeatedly. And on other Starfleet vessels before, they didn't understand it, why should you?" he asked and Will said it sternly to him at the attitude, as Barnfield gripped Wesley's shoulder. "Because we're the crew, knowing most about advanced beings and the powers they possess."

"As such now, I don't trust you near my engineering room, him definitely not, but my student, I do, that upgrade got us out of a jam, last month, involving a supernova, and a meteor." he said and Kosinki paled, realizing they trusted Wesley more, as the Traveller was interested in what Wesley is doing, looking over his shoulder. "And there's a memory I won't soon forget right now, but that was ridiculous, it was supposed to be 10, not all of them." Wesley said to him then.

In response from the terminal he was working on and Argyle tried to keep from laughing at the deadpan, as he and MacDougal exchanged smiles with Shimoda then. "Like we say, with us drugged to the gills, so to speak, we forget these things right now." O'brien said to that gently and Jenson lowered his head, smiling. "Hey kiddo, how's it going here?" Shimoda asked and he smiled. "Watch the side effects, but this should slow us down." he said to him then, smiling.

"Wes you're going to stall us out if you do that." Will said with a bemused smile and the sextet chuckled at that. "Jim, rearrange the chips, 20, 25, 45, 50." Wesley said and Shimoda nodded as he went to the system to do that. "Nice key code, green, greenish yellow, yellow and red light, and we stop before we reached the Triangulum." Jenson said and O'Brien chuckled. "Reverse that slowly, after you turn us around, 50, 45, 25, 20." Goldberg said to him gently.

As Wesley stuck a computer chip into that terminal and then tapped several codes it, and it read optimal adequacy and he smiled. "The system took the chip, we're good to go, so we have 2 ways to halt the testing, one is by the manual over ride. And the other by the repulser engine I used last month, which is anchoring us to the biggest planet we pass by. So we can slow ourselves down, and check for injuries, if the warp over does it." he said and Argyle smiled.

"Nice thinking kiddo, I never would have thought of that." Argyle said smiling and Will chuckled. "I knew that reactor you created would come in handy and there's the proof, it's now acting as the anchor, like on an ocean bound ship. And catching the biggest piece of rock it can find, in order to slow our speed down, before we come to a stop now." he said and Wesley nodded. "Well the emergency stop is by easing off the gas pedal here, till we do." he said to him then

"Stop playing with the gas and brake pedals, this is not a car guys." Will said to that gently and Wesley looked at him. "What, we're doing this so we can test the engine, but the booster needs to step off the gas slowly. Not all at once, before one of us gets thrown over the piloting terminal, after the brake gets slammed on." he said and Will nodded. "I realize that, if none of us are holding on, we're getting thrown out of the chair." he said and he nodded gently then.

"Just about done, I put in warp reduction chip, in case it exceeds top warp." Wesley said and they smiled at the news. "What's that going to do?" he asked and he explained that. "We have a sudden power burst, this chip, after the Captain calls out the order is bringing us full stop. Just so we know where we are." he said and they nodded. "But I heard of travelers, they, once they throw everything they have in it, does what I told you on the bridge." he said and Will nodded.

"Nice thinking baby, that definitely works, before this blows the engine out, and instead, it's keeping us below the red line." MacDougal said smiling to him and Will smiled firmly. "So now what here, my student put in a way to prevent you from over taxing the engines, if this engine tests works. Surely you're not saying it's unexplainable?" Argyle said to him then firmly. "I'm saying I'm not a teacher, nor do I wish to become one, I have neither the inclination here."

"Nor the time." he said and Will said it sternly. "You have all the time you need." he said and he swallowed hard at that, realizing they were through playing games with him. "I don't think you understand, this has already been approved by Starfleet Command." he said, hedging the answer and Argyle and Madougal crossed their arms. "But it hasn't been approved by the Chief Engineers or by me." Will said and he looked at him in shock, as he answered him firmly.

"Idea!" Wes said and inputted his computer code. "What are you doing?!" Kosinski said and Jenson grabbed his shoulder. "That's for us to know, and you to find out here right now, you're not a member of this crew." he said and Kosinski swallowed. "And to answer your question, this, in the future will prevent intruders from hijacking the system. In case of a hostile take over bid, what the SGA called a foothold situation, on board my ship." Will said to him then sternly then.

"Wes…" Hailey said to him, over his shoulder, and he punched in a fast sequence of numbers, from the next terminal over and then pulled out a secondary control chip. And plugged it in, as he answered her. "This is to prevent someone like Ferengi, Risa Rebels, or some other slime taking control of the system, by using our parents to do so. So with them compromised, we, the cub crew, have to do everything for them." he said and she nodded smiling then gently then.

"Yeah cub crew, with your peers ranging from 15, your age, to 22, next year's problem's age, is we're more interested in brains over brawns here. And do these brats have a freakin' death wish, what if wasn't you they encountered in the hall, but a criminal. Like an escaped convict, a man, or woman, completely unpredictable." Lieutenant Junior Grade Derek Greyson said sternly then. "Yeah I agree with that, but how stupid do they think he is." Will said and he nodded.

"You and Daniel taught me way too well, once this control chip gets turned on, and with it, the entire security system if we have our own encounter with Kirk's evil counterpart. Only it's our generation's version, 100 years later, the advancement got even more advanced. And inherently more deadly as a result, with Deanna an empath with a psychotic nature." he said and they nodded. "I just hope assassination is not still a means to promotion." Will said to that remark.

"What's with the first name basis, I thought you met a month ago?!" Kosinski said in shock and his eyes narrowed sternly. "She's my girlfriend, Ensign, as for the other question, is I knew him for 4 years, and he's recently started full time under me. With his mentor, Commander Jackson on the Hood, training his trio, training Ensigns Dayton and Lefler. But the Captain is his mother's best friend, borderline fiance, he's his adoptive father." he said and Kosinski paled at that news.

"Yeah, and again stand by guys…., Computer, enact security code 3275, Charlie, 627555-758435 Delta, 9798654575 Sierra, 845354376585 Gulf. Sierra Gamma Alpha, execute, medical emergencies clearance, all senior, and secondary senior. In officers clearance codes are suspended till clean of mind control, all orders are to come from me. Senior Ensign Wesley Crusher and Lieutenant Commander Data Brent Spiner." he said and they heard a firm tone.

"Clearance code accepted and recognized, Ensign Crusher, Wesley." they heard and Will smiled in relief. "That's Second Lieutenant in the Air Force, but we're SGA officers in training here, Wes." Hailey said smiling and he grinned at her. "You just got out of basic training, I'm entering it, but we're computer geniuses here, Sarah." he said and Will shook his head. "Alright guys, now is not the time for this, as for that security code, hard to commit it to memory."

"Captain, you hear all that?" he asked and they heard a proud smile in Picard's voice. "Indeed number one, I heard it all, and nice thinking Wesley, that works here. And in case we get hijacked here right now at the time." he said and Wesley looked up. "It's going to take me 3 years to create my computer program, for Lal's back up programming. So once Data downloads her into the system, she's now the Enterprise." he said and they nodded, smiling.

"Brent Spiner, the man playing Data?" Will said and he nodded. "Yep, so Data has a true name now, Data Brent Spiner, Lieutenant Commander Data Brent Spiner. Lal is now training Ensign Lal Hallie Spiner." he said and he and O'Brien nodded smiling then. "I heard that, and thank you Wes, I like that name, so I am Commander Spiner now." Data said and he nodded then. "First year and the changes made, going to be a long year here." Jenson said to this then.

As Goldberg rubbed the back of his head, and Kosinski saw the amount of devotion in the group to the teenager and swallowed hard, realizing the young teenager was a junior ensign. And with a gift and they adored him. "Issues in updates, after we got hijacked, and we watched our tv show, that we're altering a few things, our tv show. It's called Star Trek: The Next Generation, we're in season 1, and you just entered into it." Will said sternly and he nodded.

"That's fine, the more internal computer security and the better involved here right now." Lieutenant Derek Greyson said smiling as he stood there with his arms crossed. "We only heard that code once as we are, but after going on 4 years, we can't remember it. Before you tripled the security plan, before Data adds his to yours, and it's going to take 5 days. Just to break through it, but by then, we're clean of contamination." Will said and Kosinski looked at him.

"I didn't know that was necessary." he said and Will smiled sternly. "Now you do, but to put this bluntly now Kosinki, we have children on board this ship, families. Anything happens to them, because of your experiment, we will have your head for it." he said to him then sternly. "Perhaps I should speak to Captain Picard." he said quickly, realizing he was close then. "If you like, but it won't change anything." Will said and Argyle nodded to this in agreement then.

"How basic shall I be?" he said to him then. "I'll leave that to you." he said as David Jenson left his arms crossed sternly, as they and the trio moved to the multi-electronics station console in the middle of the room. "Would you get onto the auxiliary panel, please?" he said to the traveler and Wesley stands up to give up his console to the Traveler. "Wes never mind, you finish what you're doing, but stay there kiddo, we're not sure yet." Will said and he nodded sternly then.

"In order to save time, my assistant is going to lay in my base formulas more rapidly than any human being possibly could, including even myself. So, here then, in the simplest possible terms, what I do. Now, this warp drive system was tuned only in the grossest possible sense, at least according to my standards. What I do is specific, thank you, sufficient to say for now, these symbols." he said, pointing at the terminal and she and Barnfield crossed their arms.

"Anyone else feel like this is about to turn into trying to fix the Hathaway in the wargames, Sir." he asked and Will nodded. "Yeah and frankly, I'm not in the mood for another blown out engine, after we had a near backfire here, but this is getting ridiculous right now." he said and Wesley nodded. "Hey ow, damn it, Alex watch where you put that!" they heard and he turned. "Sarah take it easy, before you break the terminal." MacDougal said and Hailey nodded gently then.

"At least I'm back on the job, training ensign and we can get some work done, before the outsider breaks anything." Wesley said and the sextet and Will nodded. "Rick, Miles, stay close to Wes, because we have an over shoot, he's going to have slow us down here." Will said and the duo moved to stand next to Wesley. "Yeah I don't like this, trying it this way, it's going to exceed port speed, before we have to hit the brakes." Argyle said and Will nodded sternly.

As Kosinski continues under Wesley and Traveller's whispered conversation. "Something troubles you with the way this is configured? How about it now?" the Traveler said and Wesley nodded. "Yes, but shouldn't these be connected: here and here." he said and he smiled. "Now will it do what Kosinski says it will?" he asked and he nodded. "It has a chance, it might work better this way, yes." he said and Traveller nodded, impressed with Wesley's abilities then.

"Don't go getting any ideas here, regarding my student, he's in training by my best friend, Commander Jackson, in terms of said powers. But his training and future are up to his parents, godmother and me right now, Sir. It's family business and as you're not family, I'm telling you now, to stay out of our business." Will said sternly to him and he froze then, realizing he been marked by the Ancients already, and he was saying that on behalf of Picard and Beverly then.

"Godmother?" Kosinski said and he nodded. "Counselor Troi, he's my godson, and the captain his adoptive father." he said and he froze in shock. "If that's not fast and nothing is, it's been a month and already you reassumed these roles in your and Deanna's case." Goldberg said to him and he nodded. "Hey I love the kid, he's like the son I never had, but that remark I gave him, we're doing as Daniel said, no special attention, he's just helping out." he said and they smiled.

"View with me if you will this screen as we consider the following. Now, is this merely mechanics or is it nature that we deal with in all of this? And what else than nature are the elementals of space and time? You are trained in the system. You go in a straight line, competent, yes, and perhaps even innovative in a minimalist way, but what I do here is not the end of the process, it is the beginning, so, what do I do? Go back to the Fearless, which I left with a more efficient.

"In warp drives than I found? Or do you cast off your ignorance and allow me to continue?" he asked and Will looked at Argyle. "Could anything he's proposing damage our system?" he asked and Argyle sighed. "How could it? It's meaningless." he asked and he nodded. "Then we should let him try it?" he asked and he nodded in resignation. "Sarah?" he asked and she sighed and Will nodded, knowing even if he, or MacDougal said no, Kosinki would do so anyway here.

"What do you mean, let him try it? Don't talk about me in the third person like I'm not standing right here!" he snapped and Daniel nodded. "Yes, we might as well let him try it." he said and that did it. "Oh yes, we might as well let him try it. You are too generous. Boy! Boy, don't play with that." he said and Will stabbed him in the chest. "Again, he has a name, but he's monitoring your assistant here, so watch it." he said sternly to him and he paled at that then.

Bridge:

As Picard enters the bridge, Tasha, Worf, Geordi and Data, are set up at the security and technician terminals ready for the engine test then. "Captain, main Engineering is ready to proceed." Worf said and Picard nodded gently. "Engineering, this is the Bridge. It's your call." he said and heard an answering response."Do this one just like the last time. Nothing changes, Commander, I'll make my preliminary adjustments at warp one point five,

"And complete them as we achieve warp four." Kosinki said to him, and Will sighed, as he looked at Wesley and he nodded. "Engineering to bridge, did you copy that?" he asked and Picard nodded gently. "Affirmative, Number One. Are you ready?" he asked and Wesley, and the sextet nodded sternly. "We are." he said and Picard nodded. "Commander La Forge, set in warp one point five." he said and Geordi nodded, as he carefully activated the engine terminals.

"Warp one point five, sir." he said carefully then to him and he nodded. "Engage." he said to him then…..

Engineering:

"All right, here we go." Kosinski said then as Wesley carefully watched watches the Traveller make adjustments on his console, while Kosinski taps at him. The Traveller turns to smile at Wesley, before they started hearing an increasing hum. "What are you doing?!" Kosinski said and looked up then, as he heard a consternation in the humming. The warp core appears to be racing, the Traveller puts his hands on the console and partially vanishes and Wesley stood up.

The Enterprise takes off at ridiculously high speed, before he got thrown into the wall, and Wesley covered up, before the blast threw him into the terminal. "Commander, the engine core!" Wesley said and Will looked and nodded. "Slow us down Wes!" he said over the humming of the engine. "Aye Sir, bridge, engaging emergency stop!" Wesley said, and he slammed his hand on the terminal, as he tried to activate his chip, but it didn't work and he looked up.

Before the sudden power burst threw him into the wall so hard, he slumped to the floor. "Wes!" Will shouted then and he quickly got up. "We're going too fast, they disabled my computer chip, I have to go manually!" he said sternly and Will nodded in shocked outrage then. "Geordi, how fast are we going here!" Wesley shouted over the radio to the bridge. "I agree with him, Commander La Forge, how fast are we going exactly!" Picard said and he quickly said it.

"Captain, we're passing warp ten!" he said and Wesley nodded. "Damn it, Dad, Geordi listen to me here, but the traveler disabled my control chip to prevent this. I'm going to the engine core panel, to pull us over here, I got them set in four increments here. But we're yanking the first one, it's 20% stop." he said into the radio and heard Picard said gently. "I hear you Wesley, just take it very, very slow, in the pull over." Picard said carefully and he nodded.

"Yes Sir, alright, Jim give me a hand here, we have to do this together the first set, but start at 20, and move forward, Jim, we do this every 5 minutes!" he called out then quickly and he and MacDougal went charging into the engine control room then as he yanked the cover off. "Which one is it?" he said and Jim tapped the panel above the one he was looking at. "Alright we yank these at 20, 25, 45 and 50, fifty is full stop." he said and Shimoda nodded firmly then to that.

As, on the bridge then, the view screen looks like the opening credits to stargate, as there's a jolt which throws the Traveller off his stool as Kosinski is clueless. "Captain, I'm pulling the emergency stop here, we just yanked the first 20, whenever you're ready!" Wesley shouted over the radio and he nodded sternly to his words. "What is our velocity?" he asked and Data said it to him. "It's off the scale, sir." he said to him as he got ready, as he said it over the radio.

"Wes, yank the next set and then when we tell you, yank the third, before we go to full stop." Geordi said and Wesley nodded, as he got away from the terminal, charged into the control panel, as he yanked the 25 next and they started slowing down slowly. "Reverse engines, very slowly." Picard said and Data turned. "Captain, no one has ever reversed engines at this velocity." he said quickly, despite knowing their young friend was good.

This was very dangerous then. "Because no one has gone this fast, reverse engines, Wesley yank the next set." Picard said to him and he nodded and yanked the 45 next, as they started slowing down even more as they arrive at a beautiful place. "All stop." he said and yanked the entire 50 next as they stopped at very nice spot and sighed in relief. "Everybody okay up there?" he called into the radio. "Yes we're fine, Wesley." he said and they sighed.

And in relief, as he looked down in relief, this test never killed anyone, as Shimoda wrapped his arm across his shoulder. "I'm okay, but it worked, but since we have no idea where in the Triangulum here we are right now. I have to reverse course, and that's going to take hours to put the chips back in here." he said to that response gently. "No big deal, we need to check for injuries, but we're here, we might as well scope out what we didn't have time to then, Wes."

"Besides you're not indestructible here you need to rest, before we do this after you got thrown into the wall." Will said to him gently and he nodded to him…
