If all goes as planned, this will be the second last chapter of the book, which means I'll be able to take most of December off to relax! But before we get there, I would like to thank all of you that have been reading this, and enjoying it as much as I like to write it. When I first started this, I had no idea that it would last thing long, as I just wanted to breathe new life into an idea that I saw and well…here we are!
Chapter 17: Moving in
On the edge of U.A.'s campus, 5 minutes' walk from the main school, U.A. had built student dorms for every course of every year, called Height's Alliance. Such an undertaking would have taken weeks if not months in the pre-meta-ability world, but with that and hundreds of millions of yen in funding to toy with, the school had managed to complete the entire thing in just 3 days.
Looking up at the class 1-A dorms, Izuku couldn't help but feel impressed at the sight of her new home for the rest of the school year. Of course, none of them felt anything akin to joy or excitement, not then the incident that got them there was such a tragedy. She observed that many in her class were in a sober mood, with Koda being even more withdrawn and jumpy as if his own shadow could give him a heart attack. Why he was still in the hero course was beyond her as he looked like he needed an immediate transfer and a therapist.
Hagakure and Ojiro seemed to be handling things better, but not by much as while Hagakure seemed to be glued to Todoroki, who was acting extremely protective of her, the tailed boy was hyper-vigilant, scanning for anything that could be considered a flame. She didn't blame them as they both still were covered in bandages, even with some of the best treatments and Recovery Girl's meta-ability, they would only be able to get them removed in a few days, whether or not they'd have scars wasn't something she asked, nor they disclosed.
Aoyama looked chippy…too chippy as she knew that he had been shot, twice and while neither was that serious, considering everything, that should have left some sort of impact on him. But he seemed more engrossed in his conversation with Yaoyorozu, Jiro and Shinso. She would have chalked it up to him just being a resilient soul, but how his hands twitched, and how his eyes darted to objects he caught in the side of his eye was enough for her to know he was just putting up a strong front, though she didn't know why as none would fault him for being jittery after nearly dying. Even she had nightmares for a while after her adrenaline and venom wore off and she realized she massacred 20 people when she escaped Kai.
She got over it, but she knew that she was a special case in that regard.
With the duel-haired boy, he looked…bad, she couldn't place it, but she could understand the why as out of all of them, he was the only one in the class that didn't do much fighting, as his ego or whatever the hell happened with that wind fool left him incapacitated for the longest time. Every time his eyes caught one of them, and saw scars, bandages or even just a band-aid, his heterochromia eyes would turn away. When he locked gazes with Uraraka, she was surprised that the girl didn't jump him as she hadn't appeared to be on good terms with him before, now that seemed downright murderous.
Aizawa, who looked as ragged as normal, stood before them. "Given the circumstances, I'm glad we could bring the class back together."
"We all got the go-ahead?" Sero asked the group.
"It appears like it, but it wasn't easy for my parents to accept me staying," Kaminari noted.
"No kidding, my dad didn't let me out of his sight for more than 5 minutes. Pretty sure he slept outside my door with a baseball bat." Hagakure added.
"I was pretty concerned about mine, but they eventually agreed." Shoji nodded as it was tense sitting with them as they spoke with Aizawa and All Might.
"I didn't have much issue with it," Izuku stated, drawing some attention to her rather unusual response. "My mother was reluctant, but agreed that this was for the best." What she didn't tell them was that part of the reason her mother agreed was due to the fact she still had her mission to complete, and that needed her to remain in U.A.
"My parents nearly refused to even speak with the teachers, it took convincing just for them to hear them out." Ojiro now felt like his parents had a more extreme reaction after hearing that last one, but he was the only one.
"I wouldn't be surprised by that, since you got burnt by those flames really bad." Uraraka gave him a worried look but he smiled, happy that he had friends that could get so concerned and nodding that he was fine.
"It was amazing that the teachers were allowed to return as well, the people at the press conference didn't hold anything back, did they?" Asui focused on another issue, that being the conference that was held which featured not just principal Nezu, Vlad and Aizawa but teachers and principals from other schools. It was nothing but 2 and a half hours of the media digging into them for every slight they could find, mainly at U.A-sure, but also at others for 'failing' to upgrade their security after U.A. had been targeted as 'if villains would target the top school, what's to stop them targeting others?'
They weren't wrong, but they also forgot to include that U.A.'s attack was more luck than anything else, it was at the time, a fluke that who no-one thought would escalate from there, at least that was what it was like to her and her parents. One group of reporters present were the worst as they hammered them hard, so much she was worried that her homeroom teacher would break and curse him out when one questioned why U.A. didn't ensure Iida couldn't have been in Hosu as they figured out that he must have taken the offer from Manuel to hunt down the man that crippled his older brother. It would have been an understandable reaction, but not the smart one.
"You'll learn soon enough that media management is never easy," Aizawa replied, as he nearly snapped more than once in that meeting. He normally avoided the press, even if he could handle them but he had been in such a foul mood since the attack that he took up Vlad's advice to self-medicate beforehand. Nothing serious, as it was just enough to ease the nerves lest he blow up like those reporters were no doubt banking on.
Clapping his hands, he got back to the matter at hand. "However, that still leaves the elephant in the room. The provisional license itself. As it was interrupted, none of you have been certified and therefore, don't have a license. At the moment, the HPSC hasn't announced when the replacement exams will take place."
"HPSC?" Kaminari asked, not familiar with the term.
Before Aizawa could explain it, Yaoyorozu beat him to it. "Hero Public Safety Commission, they're the government agency in charge of regulating heroes, enforcing standards, conducting inspections and operating the licensing system." She looked his way, wishing for him to confirm this as he nodded. She might not have got everything, but that was all that the students needed to know at the moment.
"Hold on, what about class B? The news didn't say anything about them being attacked." Shinso asked.
"I spoke with Tetsutetsu, they didn't know anything was wrong till after the news broke," Kirishima replied, as his work-out buddy had been worried sick when they got word of it. According to him, their entire class unanimously decided against celebrating their success once they found out what happened to them. He even met up with him, Kendo and Shiozaki over their little break.
"It was only our location that was attacked, which meant that class B was able to finish their licensing exam without issue. They all passed." Aizawa didn't like that he had to tell them, but even if their morale took a hit at that, his primary reason was that it would be better for them to hear it from him now and have time to digest it, rather than during school hours.
"I'm sensing a but." Midoriya raised her hand.
Aizawa nodded, as that was the second reason, he wished to be the bearer of bad news, namely that it wasn't the only bad news. "But due to the…situation, the HPSC has placed a temporary ban on all 1st and 2nd years licenses." Hearing this, the students were just as, if not more shocked than the faculty had been when the news reached them.
"Hold on, they're banned?" Sato asked.
"But they passed, didn't they?" Mina asked.
"Things are tense at the moment, students were targeted. Students died," All complaints ceased at that reminder, as he doubted there was a single person present who didn't see a fellow student, teacher or HUC member die in one way or another.
"The last thing the HPSC wants is people seeing students in the line of duty, with how to jump they are, even just an injury could throw fuel onto the fire." He hated it, but he could understand the reasoning, after all, heroes needed good optics to do their jobs, to keep the peace. It was why people felt safer with All Might than Endeavour as while the flame hero got more done, he was as approachable as the fire he used. If people felt scared or angered by a hero, then it affected their work.
"That's why all the schools involved with the attack now have dorms. So, we can keep a better eye on you and ensure that villains don't try for another round." He finished, pointing to the dorm building behind him.
"Will we be able to leave campus?" Uraraka asked.
"You'll have to request permission at least a day in advance, and I'll advise you not to make a habit of it, speaking of," He turned his gaze to his newest and arguable most problematic student, the girl who took a blow torch to the side and according to the report, fought against a Nomu till she landed the killing blow, Midoriya Izuku.
"Midoriya. Your request was finalized this morning. You have permission to be off campus on weekends to visit your mother and daughter, but you must be escorted to and from the train station by at least one staff member." He relayed to her, with Midoriya nodding along, happy that she got that early, even if she would be using it for…other reasons from time to time.
"Understood." She kept her response short as the teacher turned to walk into the dorms, with the students following after him.
The inside of the dorm was far better than anything that the students had been expecting. They had all seen what student dorms normally looked like, but much like everything U.A. did, they went plus ultra with the place as it looked less like student dorms and more like a luxury joint studio apartment, with a large kitchen in the back, wide open windows that gave views at the equally as expansive gardens, a central living room area with 4 large sofas and a couple of stand-alone chairs, more than enough for them while a 96 Inch TV sat in the before the chairs.
"Each student dormitory holds one class, boys on the left and girls on the right. The entire first floor is the common area with the kitchen, laundry and baths." Aizawa explained as the students spread out to take in their new lodgings.
"Holy-this place is huge!" Sato uttered.
"There's even a courtyard, this place is like a high-end apartment." Sero looked out the window, a window that was taller than he was and it started close to the floor!
"I'm living in a mansion…!" Uraraka couldn't process it all and fell over.
"Uraraka!" Asui caught her with her tongue before she hit the floor.
While the rest looked out the windows, at the lounge and the massive TV and entertainment set that the school was providing them, or explored the fully stocked kitchen with some of the best appliances on the market, Mineta was focused on one other thing that Aizawa told them. "Our bathrooms…are in the same space?"
"Mineta," Like a bucket of cold water thrown in the face, Mineta's perverted fantasies cooled to ice when he heard their teacher. "The baths are separated by gender. I expect you to respect that distinction and act accordingly." The man wasn't looking at him, but he didn't need to for Mineta to realize that this wasn't an idle threat.
"Yes sir." Midoriya heard this, and while she had heard stories about Mineta's perversion from the other girls, she didn't think it would be that bad. After all, he got into UA, surely he was just like the normal horny teenager. But that little exchange was enough for her to realize that Bakugo might not be the only one who got through the cracks of whatever criteria they had.
'I'll have to keep an eye on the little one.' If she caught him trying anything, he'd find out just how far she could send him flying. With the class pervert dealt with, Aizawa took them to the second floor of the boy's side, having explained that each side is identical.
"Living quarters start on the next floor, 4 people per level. Everyone gets their room and should be comfortable, each is equipped with AC, toilets, fridges and closets." Izuku was amazed by that, as it seemed like the school really wished to ensure they were more than comfortable in between classes, and she could respect that.
"We even get balconies?" Kaminari walked over to the door and opened it, revealing that the balconies had enough space to even put a chair and table if they wanted.
"This is about the same size as my closet back home but I'll manage." Yaoyorozu mused.
"It's the size of my house!" Uraraka once more fell over, leaving Izuku to dive to catch her.
"Uraraka, control yourself girl, and Yaomomo," She turned to the heiress. "Please stop flexing your wealth on us." She would have been angrier if she thought that Yaomomo said them as a flex, but with how apologetic she looked, it was clear that it was just something she was used to and that she didn't mean anything by it. however, she did wish to see just what kind of castle the heiress grew up in for this place to be the same size as her closet, what would you even put in there?
With the rooms for the 2nd floor seen, their teacher held up a sheet of paper which had their dorm assignments printed on it. "These are your dorm assignments, the belongings you set ahead have already been placed in your new rooms, but that's all you'll be the ones that handle setting things up in there." The class took a close look at the table. On the second floor, it was just the boys with the first room going to Shinso, followed by Mineta, Aoyama and Tokoyami.
The third floor was the first to have rooms for both boys and girls, with the first room on the boy's side being vacant, followed by Koda, Kaminari and Ojiro. On the girl's side, Jiro was assigned the first room, with Midoriya following her, the third room being vacant and Hagakure taking the last one. The fourth floor only had two girls on it, with Uraraka assigned the first room and Ashido taking the last. Shoji took the first of the boys, followed by Kirishima and then Bakugo, with the fourth room vacant.
The fifth and final floor also had just two girls, with Yaoyorozu assigned the first and Asui the last. Sato took the 2nd room on the boy's side, followed by Todoroki and Sero.
Once he was sure that they memorised it, Aizawa placed the paper back into his pocket and prepared to leave them to it. "I'll tell you more in the morning, but for now, get to work." The class nodded as they quickly broke from the group to get to their assigned rooms to start unpacking, some having sent more than others and needing every minute they could get. Leaving the dorms, Aizawa didn't like that there was another reason for Nezu's eagerness to set up the dorm system, but as much as he wished to give them the benefit of the doubt, it would be illogical to ignore it.
The possibility that there was a spy for the villains among the students. With the strongest focus being on class A. While they had a strong theory for how the villains knew that All Might was going to be present at the USJ, namely being a missing registry from the teacher's lounge, that didn't explain why it was class A that found itself attacked again during the exam. The planning for such an attack would taken days at the least, yes, but the League had a teleporter so all they would need is the location, which one of his students could have sent to them en route.
He prayed it was wrong, that Nezu was merely overreacting, or seeing signs that weren't there as he already lost one student to villains, he didn't think he could take learning that one of them sold them out.
"Man, I'm so beat!" Later in the evening, hours after they had arrived, Kirishima collapsed onto the sofa.
"You and me both, buddy. You done unpacking?" Sero asked him, as he and the rest of the boys had gathered in the living area, all of them having changed out of their school uniforms and gone with something more casual.
"I think so, there weren't any boxes left and I'm pretty sure that was all that I sent over," Kirishima replied as Kaminari took things from there.
"Listen, I know that we've been through some serious shit, but it is a little exciting to be living here." The blonde stated, getting some smiles from the rest as he wasn't wrong, and while it felt…wrong to be this excited after such a tragedy, they couldn't help themselves as U.A. had been their dream, and now they get to live on campus.
"That's one way to look at it, but right now, I think I prefer the silver lining perspective," Shinso added, taking a sip of his water.
"Hiya, boys, all done with your room?" They turned to see the girls walking over, like themselves, they had changed into more casual stuff with their P.E. stuff being the base of it.
"Yup, we're just relaxing now, why?" Kaminari asked as Mina and Hagakura shared a look, which never meant anything good for whoever was on the receiving end.
"Well, the girls and I have been talking and well," Mina started, a glint in her eyes that put the boys on alert.
"We decided that it'll be fun to go room to room and see what's what, judging who has the best of them all!" There was silence from the boys when they heard that before Shinso jumped to his feet.
"Oh hell no, stay away from my room, you crazy alien girl!" He tried to rush to his room to keep them out, but Ashido managed to grab him, wrestling the larger boy to the ground before getting him back to his feet, no subdued as he glared at her over his shoulder, to which she cheekily smiled as they made their way over.
Opening it, the class was surprised to see that Shinso's room took the colours black and purple as a base, with his beddings, pillow and curtains all being that colour, while the rest was the same one that school provided, he had covered it with knick-knacks and other personal stuff to give it more life. There was a small bookshelf by his bed with books on conversation starters for dummies and…puppetry? Off in the corner, they saw that he had both a stationary bike, and a regular bike with what looked to be one of those riding suits professional bikers wore hung next to it, with the helmet placed on the bike's seat.
"Oh, well I wasn't expecting this," Uraraka mentioned as she walked deeper into his room, picking up the helmet and noting that he had a lot of dents and scratches on it, did he fall that many times? "I didn't know you cycled."
"I have to stay in shape somehow, and not all of us a muscle heads like a certain someone." Having been realized by Mina, he pointed to Kirishima.
"I'll take that as a compliment!" The dyed redhead replied with a smile.
"Figured you would." Off to the other side, Hagakure squealed in excitement at what she found.
"He even has little puppets and a tiny stage for them to perform on! So cute!" She held up one of the puppets, one that looked like a hero dressed in all red and another like a ninja woman. Another 3 lay on a small stage which looked home-made.
"Didn't think you'd be into that." Jiro joked as Shinso turned away, his face red in the fact they were all seeing this.
"It started as practising how to throw my voice, and change how I sounded but well…it went from there." He admitted as Kaminari came in, close as hell.
"Can you perform, please, Shinso?" He would have said no, but if they wanted to disrespect his privacy…well, he could get them back.
His face didn't change, but his voice did as it took a familiar, no-nonsense tone that they all had come to fear. "Kaminari, how many times do you have to deal you to hand in your homework on time?"
"Come on, Aizawa-sensei, you know that he fries his brain when he thinks of more than two things." He twirled his finger as if he was messing with an earphone jack, his voice having changed from their half-exhausted teacher to their resident sound expect.
"Hey!" Kaminari pouted while the others laughed at the performance, even if he was impressed that Shinso could impersonate them so well.
"Would you two shut up, I'm the best and the best doesn't listen to losers!" Bakugo didn't appreciate that last one as he had been largely silent, being dragged along by Kirishima and Sero.
"Fuck you, eyebags!" He flipped the bird at the boy, who merely smiled like an asshole and returned the favour.
"Man, this sucks, I feel so judged right now!" Kaminari complained to the 4 others whose rooms were deemed to be bad.
"What a coincidence, so do I," Ojiro muttered, looking at the floor.
"Same here." Tokoyami crossed his arms, still embarrassed that so many he seen his space of solitude and deemed it insufficient.
"If only they could appreciate a proper dazzle…" Aoyama kept the smile up, but he was still visibly angry with things. Didn't they realize how long he spent cleaning, dusting and policing all the surfaces?
Mineta seemed to agree with them as he walked up to them, still pissed that not a single girl wanted to see what he had in his room. "That's because the boys are the only ones getting picked on. They said it was a contest to see who has the coolest dorm room but," He turned to point at them. "We didn't see a single one of theirs, how is that fair?"
Mineta kept going, seeing that he had some support, while the rest opted to remain quiet. "Their interior design skills should be held to the same standard as the rest of us, maybe even higher, show us those dorms of yours! Or are you too scared?!" With the gauntlet thrown down, neither the boys, nor the girls could argue against it as sure, it was their private spaces and they were girls, but they had already forced their way into the spaces of the boys, and why should they be excluded from their idea?
However, while she agreed with it on that front, Midoriya couldn't help but wonder as to why Mineta was the one making the argument itself. 'That argument seemed a bit…well worded, what does he want?' She kept her eye on him, which he felt.
Lucky for him, the group decided to go with it as Mina turned to the rest to settle something. "Okay, so what are the rules? Are we figuring out who has the best taste in the class, or overall coolest?"
"We're doing this?" Jiro asked as Yaomomo placed a hand on her shoulder.
"Why not? We've already seen some of the boys' room, why shouldn't we show off our own?" She asked her classmate, who seemed less than pleased with this, but didn't speak up against it, not wishing to be a hypocrite now of all times.
"This doesn't have to contest, you know. To each their own." Ojiro added as Mineta's mind filled with the fantasies of seeing just a peak of the girl's domains, perhaps he'll get lucky and spot a loose pair of underwear that one of them left out. He thanked the heavens for the fact that 4 others had been in such bad moods as he knew that if it was just him, they wouldn't have entertained this at all.
Again, Izuku's gaze never left him as she wondered just what were his motives. 'Why do I have a feeling he's thinking of something perverted? But then again, when he is not?'
"I'm sleepy," Todoroki stated, but Hagakure stepped in, hanging off his shoulders.
"Come on, Shoto! Just hang on for a little longer and when we're done, you can hit the hay!" She laughed as the boy nodded, willing to go along with this if she wished.
"I would have thought you would know what his bedroom looks like already." Asui's blunt statement for some smiles from people like Sero and Kaminari, the latter nudging the confused Todoroki to the side while others like Tokoyami, Koda and most of the girls looked away, red in the face at the implications of that statement.
"And why would I know that, Tsu?" They didn't see it, but they could tell that Hagakure was just as embarrassed by that statement as most of them felt. Tsu didn't elaborate, which might have been a blessing in disguise as it meant that Shoto remained in the dark about the topic.
Having decided to go about this in no certain floor order, the group found themselves on the 4th floor of the boy's side. "Let's see, of the rooms we already seen, we haven't seen any from the 4th floor, have we?" Midoriya asked, with others shaking their heads.
"Nope, so it means that Bakugo, Shoji and Kirishima are up next. Where is Bakugo?" Uraraka asked, noting that the loud bomber was nowhere to be seen.
"He said this was lame and went to bed," Kirishima replied to this, feeling like his best bro was missing out but he couldn't force him.
"He's trying to avoid this, is he?" Of course, he might have thought that but Midoriya wouldn't give the boy any such courtesy. "Then we're starting with his room then." With a big smile on her face, she walked over to the door with Bakugo's nameplate outside.
Rushing to keep up with her, Yaomomo tried to speak reason. "But, Midoriya, he's already asleep."
Reaching the door, her smile still on her face, she turned to them all. "Nonsense, this is a class bond exercise, what does it say if we let him just skip it?" They could tell there was something else to her reasoning, but none spoke up as her smile freaked them out just a little as she turned and knocked a little too loudly on the door. If Bakugo hadn't known they were there before, he certainly knew now.
"Bakugo! Wake up, we're going to see your room now!" She yelled through the door, getting no response which made some feel a little nervous, but she merely pressed on.
"If you don't open this door in 10 seconds, I'm ripping it off the hinges." She didn't falter as she started to count. "1…2…3…4…5…6…7" Bulking up, she ignored how her classmates looked on in shock at how the second tallest girl in class, who was already in great shape, grew in height to nearly match the resident giant, Shoji while also putting on enough muscle mass that she might as well strapped Asui's entire body weight onto herself.
"Maybe we should move on?" Yaomomo tried again as the others braced for the inevitable brawl.
In her venom-fueled form, the door handle looked comically small in her hands as she kept up the countdown to disaster. "8…9-" Before she could follow through or not on her threat, they heard a loud curse from behind the door, followed by loud footsteps before the door flew open to reveal an extremely pissed-off Bakugo in a different set of clothes, what he must have been wearing while he slept.
Bakugo's ire turned to shock when he realized he wasn't looking Midoriya in the eye, forcing him to look up and holy-shit, what the fuck was she eating? He knew she got jacked thanks to venom but this was insane!
Throwing that little thing into the back of his mind for future Bakugo to deal with, he got back to the issue at hand, namely the fact his beauty sleep was interrupted! "What the fuck, Deku?! Can't a man just sleep in peace and enjoy his privacy?"
"Privacy? Like you deserve that! How many times did you just barge in when I was staying over, you perv?" Bakugo didn't even notice how the others looked in, lacked jaw at that reveal, his focus was on Midoriya alone, getting angrier as this conversation went on.
"I'm not fucking Mineta!" He yelled back at her, pointing towards the class perv whose brain seemed to have shut off after hearing that Bakugo had multiple chances to see a nude girl in the flesh.
"Could have fooled me, do you not know what 'I'm busy' or 'Don't come in' mean?" Midoriya had only stayed with them for the remainder of the summer break, but that was days too long as she couldn't have even just a few hours of privacy with Bakugo just barging in to tell her stuff, or 'see how she was doing' She was fine, she didn't need him asking every 10 fucking minutes! She could only get privacy by blocking the door with something.
"I can do wherever the fuck I want in my own damn house, Deku!"
"You don't pay the bills and even if you did, it's still rude!" She yelled back at him something she heard Auntie yell at him when he didn't want to do the chores. "If swear, you're lucky you never saw me naked, else I would have ripped your head off by now!" And how she was now, none of them didn't think she didn't have the power to do that either.
"Man, I like her passion!" Kirishima stated as he looked around the room, avoiding the two while they had their little disagreement.
"Wait, what kind of relationship do they have? I didn't know she stayed with him." Kaminari asked as he looked around, and saw to his surprise that the room had a lot of All Might merchandise, with figurines on a shelf, action figures he recalled owning on another, with a couple of posters and other memorabilia to the symbol of peace scattered around the room.
"Don't look at me, I didn't know either," Sero noted as he looked over a limited edition All Might action figure, it was a little beat up, but he knew it could sell for a crap ton of money.
"Can't be good as they look like they're about to jump each other," Jiro noted as one was flexing muscle and the other was setting off explosions.
"They're like an old married couple!" Uraraka joked, getting both to stop, turn to her in disgust and yell as one.
"No, we're not!"
After they had managed to pull the two apart, they saw some of the other rooms, which with their theme and feel to it. Kirishima's room looked like he styled it after a gym with the amount of equipment and other inspirational stuff he placed around it. Shoji had gone a step further when it came to the minimalist aspect as where Ojiro had changed little, Shoji removed things and left his room with just a blanket, futon and desk to work at.
Sero's room was one of the most surprising of the lot as his room looked like he took inspiration from Hawaiian design with the natural browns and whites that formed the base colour, as well as what looked to be hand-woven carpets, wall décor and curtains. The man even had a hammock for relaxing when his bed wasn't enough. Todoroki took the cake for a most surprising room for the simple reason that in just a few hours, he managed to completely remodel his room to look like it came straight from an Azuchi–Momoyama period piece, complete with tatami mats.
Sato was the last of the guys and while better in terms of changes when compared to Ojiro, he did win major brownie points with the girls thanks to the fact he had been baking a cake which the girls had happily snacked on, with Yaomomo requesting that he make something for when she had tea. Izuku was the only one to not eat any, as she had already found a place to get her sweet tooth sated, much to Sato's chagrin when he learned where. She also preferred more savoury stuff like pork.
When it came to the girls, they started on the 3rd floor, with Jiro's room being closer to a music store/studio with the number of instruments she had, made all the more impressive by the fact she could play all of them, even if she didn't say how much. She didn't take kindly to hearing Kaminari say that Aoyama had a more girly room and hit them both with her jacks but her room was done with, it was Izuku who came next.
"I hope you all like it, it took me a while to pick out a style after I got rid of my old stuff." Izuku opened the door to her room, letting the group in. Inside, they saw that she had taken to journalism and newspapers quite well, with newspaper-themed walls, with framed articles, most of which were based on old-timey comic book newspapers like The Bugle and Daily Planet but there were others from real papers about real events.
Along with those, were framed magazine covers, many of those, along with the posters were of one person, a certain blue-skinned woman throughout her life from one depicting her receiving a reward for her journalism in her early 20s, to one where she was the one holding out the reward to another, the change between the being striking as she went from a happy and eager young woman to the clever and experienced industry titan she was now.
There was a large figurine of a skyscraper that looked like Might Tower, but had something different written on the ring while there was a massive King Kong plushie on the bed, along with one that looked like a masked Wrestler, with the beddings also having the newspaper print going for them.
In the corner, there was some exercise equipment but the group paid more attention to the news-related stuff. "Oh my God, that is a lot of reporter stuff?" Ashido looked around.
"You even have newspaper-themed curtains," Sero asked her, getting her to nod when he picked up on that. With Yaoyorozu, she noted that there were framed pictures on the wall, most of Izuku and who she presumed to be her mother, but there were also more than a few with her mother, or just Eri with one having all three dressed at the beach. She couldn't help but smile at how happy they all looked, but then there was one outlier.
"Isn't that Chitose Kizuki?" She picked up the picture of Izuku getting a reward from the blue-skinned woman, Izuku looked nothing like she looked now, being far smaller, and less muscled while Kizuki had a smile that looked like what Mina would have if 10 years if she remained true to herself.
"Do you know her?" Jiro asked her, directing the question towards Yaoyorozu.
"Know of her, she runs one of the top 3 media conglomerates in Japan. She often tries to get interviews with my parents." She would say this, if nothing else, the woman was persistent.
"Oh yeah, she was one of the people that helped you, right?" Kaminari asked Midoriya, getting a soft smile from her as she nodded.
"Yeah, she was. She's my hero and I really look up to her…is that wrong?" She liked how she decorated her room. She looked up to Curious and she was a journalist at heart, so she thought maybe she should style her space off of that, though most of it was from comics.
"Not at all, Izuku! I wouldn't mind speaking with my parents about seeing if they couldn't finally sit down with her for an interview, maybe even send her a donation." Izuku smiled when Yaomomo gave her support to her, followed by others.
"I'm sure she'll like that, she's one of the most curious but earnest people I've ever met." That was an understatement if she had ever said none. After that, they went through the rest of the girls' rooms, which have its charm to them as Hagakure has the room judged to be the girly, even if Mineta got himself booted out when he muttered, he wanted to see what her underwear draw was like.
Slimeball.
Mina's room was the most in the character of them as it followed a similar style to her hero costume, with stripes and bloats of purple, dark pinks or blacks all over the place. Uraraka's room was the most normal of the bunch, namely for the fact it looked like she didn't spend all that much time in it and therefore didn't see the need to decorate all that much, though Yaomomo did offer to take her out for shopping.
Asui's was a froggy paradise, with Lilypads and pond-like décor all over the place. Even her bed had been changed out to a circular one that looked like a Lilypad, them finding out that it was a water bed which could be heated for the colder months was just a bonus. When it came to Yaoyorozu's room, none could have said they expected what they found as while they knew she was loaded, being the only child of the Yaoyorozu conglomerate, they didn't realize just how loaded till they saw her room.
It wasn't that she spent what could easily be hundreds of thousands of yen on her stuff, and more like she could fit in a desk and her bed, namely because her bed was so grand and massive that it took up nearly the entire space. Midoriya knew that beds could be made to be truly massive, either because the buyer was naturally tall, or perhaps because multiple people shared the same bed, but for the life of her, she couldn't figure out why Yaomomo had something like that, as it could fit all the girls on it and more, even if she bulked up!
Once they finished, the votes were taken in a secret ballot, and Sato won in a landslide, mainly due to the fact most of the girls voted for Sato because of the cake, with Izuku being the only one who didn't but Bakugo was quirk to point out she would have if his Katsudon was half as good as the cake, to which she didn't bother arguing.
When all was said and done, it was pretty late by the time Izuku returned to her room for the night. She was happy about the day, having learned so much about her classmates, soon-to-be friends and hopefully, allies! As she got into bed, she sent off two separate messages on a private, encrypted app on her phone. The first was to Curious informing her that she's fully integrated into the class and will do her best to gather information and possible allies.
The next was to Himiko, whom she informed that she'd met up with over the weekend so they could…have some fun on the town together. This was the only one that got a response in just a few minutes. The response was that she couldn't wait and that she was bored out of her mind with the training, but would stick with it as MLA training was a hell of a lot better than she expected, and it would make their free time together all the more fun, which Izuku agreed with wholeheartedly.
Izuku loved that part, as she had made her pitch to Himiko, and made it clear that so long as she didn't tell anyone what she learned, Izuku would remain her friend even if she outright refused to join. But she hadn't, and now she had someone who she could talk to, really talk to about her new job and all that it came with.
But with that done, she sent a response that they'll talk more about it later before putting her phone to the side and heading to bed.
And we are done with the chapter, with just one more to go before I go on break for the year while I could start the third book in December, that'll be too close to when I rest for the year so it might be better if I postpone it till January.
Next chapter will be out November 22nd, but if you want to read it early, head on over to my p-a-t-r-e-o-n at p-a-t-r-e-o-n / Ducksmakegreatminers, every cent counts and even if you join at the lowest tier, it will help me a lot in improving this.
