Hello, my dear readers! Sorry for the delay. I got unexpectedly busy and the chapter also got too large. Anyways, after seeing the polls and with my own personal opinion, I have decided on the Monster Hunter crossover.
I tried my best to create a fusion world of GoT and Monster Hunter. There is also a little surprise for you near the end. Hope you like it!
In the frozen cave system of the Arctic Tundra, Jaeherys 'Jae' Targaryen and Robb Stark, both clad in impressive hunter armor, prepared to face the rampaging Nergigante, who had appeared near the Pokke Village. Robb was wearing Zinogre armor while Jae donned Valstrax armor. They rode their faithful monsters – Jae on Ghost, a Stygian Zinogre, and Robb on Thunderfang, a regular Zinogre.
"I wish I could bring Greywind, Thunderfang is still young." Robb lamented that he could not bring his main monster Greywind, a Lunagaron whose egg had been specially imported for Robb. Greywind was an ice attribute but ice attacks were not particularly effective against Nergigante.
"Nergigante …..it shouldn't even be in this habitat. In the recent years, there have been several aggressive monster species appearing in unexpected places." Jae said concerned about the recent monster appearances.
"Yeah! Ever since portals have appeared, monsters have been appearing and rampaging in unexpected places." Robb agreed with him and said that the portals were responsible for such phenomenon.
The portals first appeared around Robert's Rebellion connecting the worlds of Planetos and Astera. A portal could appear anywhere in the entirety of Planetos and spawn monsters.
Jae himself had been born in Astera due to this phenomenon. His mother Lyanna Stark along with the Kingsguard was en route to the Tower of Joy for safety when suddenly a portal had appeared spawning a Diablos. In a bid to escape, they had entered the portal thus warping to a jungle in Astera. Fortunately, hunters had found them in the jungle. Thus, Jae had been born and raised in Astera.
After the Robert's Rebellion, portals continued to appear sporadically. The most significant event occurred when a portal appeared over King's Landing and spawned Fatalis, the Dark Demise. The entire city was burned to the ground. The only survivors were King Robert and the Kingsguard who were hunting and the few civillians who somehow managed to escape the city in time.
Five years after the destruction of King's Landing, Bloodraven managed to somehow control the portals with help of the power of Old Gods. Since then, Weirwood trees served as a terminal to form portals allowing people from each world to visit the other world. Robb himself had moved to Astera using such a method allowing him to become a hunter.
"If only my idiotic ancestors had not killed the Valyrian dragons in the Dance of Dragons. If the Valyrian dragons were present when the portals appeared, there would have been so much less loss of life." Jae lamented the extinction of Valyrian dragons as he thought about the portal phenomenon because the dragons would have protected Westeros against the monsters.
"You are only saying this because you would have easily been to ride them." Robb playfully teased Jae because Jae had a great affinity with monsters since he was a child. Even peaceful elder dragons seemed to like him and allowed him to ride them.
"Hey! I am serious." Jae said flustered.
"But seriously, if I had met that idiot King Aegon II, I would have beat the shit out of him." Jae said as he did not like his ancestor who was well known as an adulterer in his lifetime.
"And what would you done to Queen Rhaenyra?" Robb teasingly asked.
"Um!... I would have spanked her ass red." Jae said hurriedly in a bid to stop Robb's teasing.
"Hey! Be serious! We only got this hunt because there was no stronger hunter available and the Nergigante was reportedly not that strong compared to rest of its species. Moreover, you do not have Greywind currently with you." Jae warned Robb to become serious as they had only got the hunt because there was no stronger hunter available and they were riders who had monsters with attributes greatly effective again Nergigante.
"Alright, alright!" Robb finally stopped his teasing and became serious.
As they waited, a dragon with metallic skin appeared. It did not seem to be flying but rather running on the air. And behind it appeared a bulky dragon covered in spikes and two massive horns on its head. It was their target, Nergigante.
The dragon with metallic skin was a Kushala Daora. It was another reason they got the hunt. Kushala Daora was a peaceful elder dragon who lived near the Pokke Village and often let Jae ride on him. It allowed them to use it as a bait to lure the Nergigante.
Seeing the Nergigante, the two immediately took out their weapons. Robb used the greatsword Oppressor's Forger, a weapon in Zinogre series while Jae used the dual blades Dragonstar Hersul, a weapon in Valstrax series. While Robb had obtained his equipment from hunting a Zinogre, Jae had obtained his own from a dead Valstrax.
The cousins had been on several hunts together. Thus, they had great synergy with each other. Jae was always on offensive, using his agility to dodge most attacks. And Robb was always behind him, seeking weaknesses in order to unleash heavy attacks with his greatsword. Although, he also often guarded Jae when he could not dodge any attack.
The two started with their usual combo with their monsters supporting them with their attacks. Although, Nergigante's overpowering attacks occasionally disrupted their flow, but Ghost and Thunderfang relentlessly struck back, preventing it from dealing deadly blows.
Kushala Daora's wind attacks created cyclones, staggering Nergigante and preventing it from unleashing its full might. Victory seemed within reach, but then suddenly, a portal materialized near the battlefield.
Two Valyrian dragons, one a small yellow dragon and the other a large bronze green one, emerged from the portal with silver-haired young girls riding them. The dragons and the girls looked bewildered and frightened due to the sudden change in scenario.
Nergigante, sensing their fear, redirected its attention towards the Valyrian dragons, intending to feast on them. Robb and Jae were caught off guard but swiftly rode their monsters to protect the girls.
The dragons launched their dragonfire towards the Nergigante but it easily passed through it. Nergigante slammed into the large bronze dragon, causing the girl on its back to fall. Fortunately, Robb managed to catch the girl.
"Stay far away from the Nergigante. We will take care of it." Jae shouted towards the girls instructing them to stay away.
Robb and Jae shared a look with each other realising it was time to unleash their Kinship Skills, the secret art of Monster Riders.
Jae and Ghost, along with Kushala Daora, distracted Nergigante while Robb activated his Kinship stone and charged his Kinship Skill. Then, they disengaged, and Robb executed the Kinship Skill, Voltage Crash, crashing Thunderfang who was now covered in lightning onto Nergigante.
Before Nergigante could get its bearings, Jae rode on Kushala Daora, and initiated their own Kinship Skill, Ancient Storm, summoning five tornadoes and merging with them to form a dragon-shaped blizzard that assailed Nergigante.
The two girls watched in awe as the Kinship Skills unfolded. However, despite the barrage, Nergigante remained defiant and relentless in its pursuit of the Valyrian dragons.
Seeing no other option, Jae called upon his trump card. A crimson comet appeared in the sky and suddenly dived down to crash into the Nergigante. The crimson comet is revealed to be a silver coloured dragon whose wings seemed to be covered in an orange glow and emitting crimson flames.
It was actually a very unique dragon in Astera called Risen Crimson Glow Valstrax, although Jae named it Valfalk which was actually an ancient name for Valstrax.
Valfalk and Jae went way back. Jae still remembered how he had met Valfalk. At that time, he was only ten years old. He was on an airship with his mother going to Pokke in order to meet his uncle Ned Stark.
At that time, Valfalk who was still a Crimson Glow Valstrax had passed by their airship afflicted with Qurio.
Jae had felt an instant bond with Valfalk. With his help, Valfalk was able to subdue the Qurio and become a Risen Crimson Glow Valstrax.
Seeing that Nergigante was still alive despite being hit by Valfalk, Jae knew it was time to end the battle. He rode on Valfalk and executed their Kinship Skill, "Around the World."
They soared through the sky like a crimson comet, forming dragon energy meteors. The meteors came down on Nergigante exploding after which Valfalk itself came down like a crimson meteor crashing on the Nergigante. With this final attack, Nergigante was finally dead.
The two girls were a mix of fear and amazement, witnessing such a ferocious battle and the boys' impressive display of power.
The boys came down from their monsters and removed their helmets. It could be easily seen despite their different colouring that the two were related.
"I thank you for saving both of us from that dragon. I am Rhaenyra Targaryen and this is my cousin Laena Valaryon. Although you may not believe us, I am the daughter of King Viserys." The girl who rode on the yellow dragon introduced herself as Rhaenyra Targaryen, daughter of King Viserys and the other girl as Laena Valaryon, her cousin.
Although it was already somewhat clear to the boys after seeing their dragons, but the girl's introduction made it clear who they were.
They were Black Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen and Vhagar's Rider Laena Valaryon. Although the boys did not know how they were here, it was clear that they were Jae's ancestors from the Dance of Dragons era.
"Jae, you were saying something before the battle." Robb teased Jae once again after learning who the girls were.
