Robert had suggested to everyone to go back to their rooms. Nothing good was going to come off of staying in one room especially with tensions running so high! Tom had left first, he didn't want to stick around to see how many people would blame him for this whole situation. Edith said goodnight to Gregson and followed Tom.
"Tom, wait." Edith called up the corridor hoping he would listen to her.
"Edith, I'm tired. I just want to go to bed." Tom moaned but at least he stopped.
"I know you are but just listen to me for a few minutes and I'll leave you alone." Edith took another step forward.
Tom sighed loudly, Edith could tell he would rather do anything then be here right now. He turned around to face her and she noticed his eyes begin to water.
"Oh Tom!" Edith sighed, taking him into a hug.
"I never meant for any of this to happen! Of course everyone is going to blame me now and your father will never let me host another party again!" Tom kept back tears but Edith could tell his voice was wavering.
"I'm sure he won't do that. Anyway no one knew this was going to happen so don't blame yourself for this." Edith ran her hand through his hair.
"I've mucked it all up." Tom continued to mumble ignoring Edith.
"We'll deal with this in the morning. Now go up to bed." Edith almost sounded like she was demanding him to.
Tom smiled slightly but listened to her. He wouldn't want to get on Edith's bad side. He slowly made his way up the stairs, shuffling his feet a little as he went.

Violet was the last to leave with Robert and Cora staying together in the study. Cora didn't want to leave her husband and by the looks of it, he wasn't going anywhere at the moment. He slid into the couch nearest the fire and put his head in his hands. Cora sat beside him, rubbing her hand down his back.
"A body?! How could I have let this happen?! Now Andrews is going to make mincemeat of us." Robert shook his head knowing what Cora's answer probably would be.
"Andrews might be strict but he won't go that far." Cora said in a calming tone.
"Why? Have you had experience with him?" Robert shot up, making Cora jump a little.
"No but the servants say he's alright. Barrow I suppose might have to deal with him from time to time." Cora always assumed the worst of Barrow since O'Brien had left.
"Don't talk about Barrow like that." Robert mumbled.
Cora said something under her breath which Robert couldn't quite hear. She got up from the seat and poured them both a drink, not wanting to disturb the servants.
"I never thought you were ever going to do that." Robert chuckled seeing his wife doing that.
"Well I think Carson would be annoyed with us if we called him up this time of night. Barrow would probably be the same." Cora offered him the drink she had poured.
Robert took the drink and drank it down straight away.
"Take it easy. I do want to sleep tonight!" Cora mentioned.
"I doubt any of us will sleep tonight. Not with one of us lying…." Robert darent finish the sentence.
"Yes I suppose. I wonder how Edith's coping." Cora knew this would affect Edith the most.
"From how they were interacting earlier, I don't think she would care very much." Robert scoffed.
The door then creaked open, with Jimmy being on the other side. Jimmy jumped when he saw them both standing there.
"I'm sorry M'Lord. I thought everyone had gone to bed." Jimmy quickly apologised.
Robert waved at Jimmy to get the drinks. Jimmy apologised once more and picked up the drinks. He then quickly left again but stayed just outside the door, just in case he overheard anything interesting.
"I hope Drew works fast tomorrow. I don't think I could deal with the body still being here for another night." Robert's voice came faintly through the door.
"It depends how long the storm carries on for." Cora faintly replied and then there was a bang on the door.
Jimmy jumped for the second time that night and found himself face to face with Barrow.
"What are you doing out here?" Barrow hissed.
"I was just collecting the drinks and now I'm going back downstairs."
"Well the stairs aren't behind the door. Go on!" Barrow almost pushed Jimmy to the stairs.
Barrow shook his head and tutted and went to close the door when he overheard something that grabbed his attention.
"So who do you think did it?" Cora asked quietly, hoping no one was overhearing this conversation.
"I don't know and I don't really want to find out." Robert drank another shot of whiskey, unaware of Barrow being outside.
"I did overhear Edward and Gregson discussing something earlier. I don't know whether that had anything to do with it." Cora was all against gossip but still said it.
"That's all we need! Guests at each other's throats!" Robert groaned, feeling the effects of the night.
Barrow sighed silently and closed the door. He straightened his suit and left for the servants quarters.

Daisy couldn't stop biting her nails as she paced the kitchen. Mrs Patmore had gone out for a few minutes and had left her alone. This was all she needed after how the night had gone! Anna was just about to head to bed after seeing Mary but stopped when she saw Daisy moving so much. Anna checked there was no one else around and headed into the kitchen.
"Daisy, what's wrong?" Anna worried about the young girl.
Daisy didn't answer her and continued to pace around. Anna put her hands on Daisy's shoulders to stop her. Daisy continued to look down at the floor. Anna then put her hand on Daisy's chin and lifted it up so Daisy finally looked at her.
"What's wrong?" Anna asked again in a very calm tone.
Daisy's shoulders began to shake and her eyes began to water a little. Anna sighed and hugged Daisy tight. Bates had heard voices coming from the kitchen and came in.
"Anna, Daisy." Bates nodded at them when they came out of the hug.
"Mr Bates." Daisy continued to sob but tried to put a brave face on.
"Daisy, don't be upset about this. This will work out." Anna continued to calm her down.
"But will it?! What if they don't catch who did this?!" Daisy continued to think the worst.
"Inspector Andrews will solve this. He'll find who did this." Bates agreed with Anna.
"Are you sure?"
"Yes. Now go to bed before Mrs Patmore comes in and finds you another job to do." Anna smiled sweetly.
Daisy looked over at the kitchen door. She nodded and headed up the stairs.
"You really think Mrs Patmore will let Daisy off that easily?" Bates chuckled.
"I think after tonight she probably will." Anna tried to keep positive.
The bell then rang again and they found out it was Mary's bell. Anna kissed Bates goodnight and then left for Mary's room. Bates was left to try and tell Mrs Patmore why everyone had gone to sleep without her.

Mary rubbed the back of her neck with her hands. She couldn't sleep and had sent for Anna. She just hoped Anna wouldn't ignore her and go back to sleep! There was then a knock at the door and Anna came around the corner, looking worried why she had been called so late.
"I'm sorry to bother you and you must think I'm just being annoying." Mary smiled seeing the redness in Anna's eyes.
"Of course M'Lady. Now tell me what's wrong." Anna shook her head.
"I can't get to sleep and just wanted some company." Mary shrugged trying to come up with an answer.
A million thoughts went through Anna's head, not all of them on Mary's side. She couldn't leave Mary's side though at a time like this. She sat down on the side of the bed and began chatting to Mary, hoping no one would walk in and see them talking to each other.

The door to the kitchen opened and a red faced Mrs Patmore came in. Bates sighed quietly, trying to come up with something to say.
"Where's Daisy? Can't the girl do anything right?!" Mrs Patmore immediately started complaining.
"Anna and I sent her to bed. She wasn't feeling too well and we thought it might affect her work." Bates settled upon.
Mrs Patmore set down the food she was carrying. She could tell Mr Bates was keeping back something but didn't wish to know further.
"Well she'd better feel well later. We've got a breakfast to prepare and I'm not making it alone!" Mrs Patmore said in a calm voice but was still holding back her anger.
"Well good night Mrs Patmore." Bates said before she could say anything else.
Mrs Patmore wanted to say more but could see how tired Bates was so just nodded in reply. It had been a long day and everyone needed rest.

Carson finally sat down in his office after what felt like hours of telling people what to do. The last person to go up that he had seen was Mrs Hughes and she had looked shattered. He wasn't expecting much to happen until later that morning. The phone then ragn again! That's all he needed!
"Downton Abbey. Mr Carson the butler here." Carson answered the phone.
"Carson, it's Drew." Drew's voice came through once again.
Carson sat up in his chair as soon as he heard Drew's voice. The last time they had a conversation was to say goodnight. What did he want this time?
"Yes Mr Drew what is it?" Carson answered a little weary.
"I'm afraid it's my crew, Mr Carson. They're worn out and I doubt many of them could come back tomorrow." Drew sighed, sounding exhausted himself.
"But you have to come back! The tree won't be moved without it." Carson demanded.
"I know. I'll try and find some more crew to help me but I wondered if any of the servants could help?"
"Maybe but they have their own jobs to do."
"I know they do but it wouldn't take much."
"I'll see what I can do and send some down but don't keep your hopes up." Carson told Drew and then put the phone down.
Carson put his elbows on the table and bashed the table with his fists. The day couldn't get any worse!
