Blake, Tom and Robert walked in silence for most of their journey around the grounds. Tom added some sniffling as he went but the air seemed very tense between the three of them. Robert, who always supported Mary, was a little taken aback by Tom's actions at the party. Tom knew this so kept silent so he didn't make Robert anymore angry and Blake felt caught in the middle, unable to say anything. Blake took a deep breath and went for it.
"So Lord Grantham, how is the estate going these days? I hope the pigs are going well." Blake made sure to stay off the party subject.
"Yes they're going fine. You must come and have a look at them if you have a minute." Robert still sounded angry but at least took part in the conversation.
"Good and Tom, how are you finding being the agent?" Blake turned to Tom, gaining a groan from Robert.
"I'm getting more used to it." Tom nodded.
Blake stopped in his tracks as he sensed the emotions raging through the two men. Tom stopped first with Robert walking a bit further and not even turning around to face them.
"Look I know it's a highly tense situation in the house at the moment but can't we try to get along?" Blake suggested trying to draw a line under the whole thing.
"Not until Tom apologises." Robert muttered but loud enough to be heard.
"For what?!" Tom was beginning to lose his temper.
Before Robert could respond, a shout came from the house. This gained everyone's attention and they saw Mr Molsley running up to them. Robert took a few steps towards Molsley so he didn't have too far to run. Blake took Tom to one side to leave them in peace.
"He'll come around. It would help if Mary was on your side." Blake whispered to Tom out of earshot.
"I could do with a hand. She's not the easiest to win around, especially when she thinks she's right." Tom rolled his eyes.
"Isn't that all the time?" Blake chuckled before Robert rejoined the two men.
"What did Molesley want?" Tom asked but Robert ignored him and just answered like Blake had asked him the question.
"Apparently Drewe needs some more help. The servants don't seem to be doing too well." Robert sighed, showing impatience at Drewe's attempt.
Blake looked over at Tom and then nodded. He then followed Robert to where the tree had fallen and Drewe and the servants were waiting for help. Tom wanted to follow them but didn't want to cause an argument when trying to carry something so heavy.
"Tom!" Edith and Gregson came towards him with a beaming smile across Edith's face.
Edith could tell as they got closer that Robert and Tom had fallen out. They had never been the best of friends or seen eye to eye on a lot of things but she wasn't surprised that this would cause them to fall out once more.
"Are you alright Tom? You look a bit down." Gregson patted Tom on the back to try and cheer him up.
Tom nodded his head and put his hand to his head to wipe some sweat off of his brow. Edith and Gregson could both tell that Tom was lying straight away. Somehow they would have to get him to feel better soon or risk the party going even worse!

Carson sighed as he finally sat down after being on his feet all night and all morning. Mrs Patmore had been in a mood all morning which hadn't made anything any better! Daisy had got the brunt end of it and as per usual took it in her stride. The other kitchen maids haven't fared so well but Carson knew Mrs Patmore wouldn't be in a mood for long.
"Knock knock." Mrs Hughes then appeared at the door of his office.
"I was just having a moment to myself. I'm sure you heard Mrs Patmore earlier." Carson welcomed her in and she took a seat, sighing just as loudly as he did.
Mrs Hughes also had been rushed off her feet. Trying to deal with the firemen working on the tree outside and then tending to the guests as well, wasn't exactly easy.
"I don't know how the family does it. You'd think they might fall down any second and then they find even more energy to keep going!" Mrs Hughes chuckled slightly.
"I'm sure they'd probably say the same about us." Carson rolled his eyes as he remembered how the family treated them.
"True. Anyway, have you any word on how Drewe is getting on or are we to spend the rest of the day and night waiting for that tree to be moved?" Mrs Hughes sounded just as frustrated as Carson felt.
"Drewe said he hadn't got anywhere so I asked Molesley to ask Lord Grantham, Tom and Mr Blake to help out." Mrs Hughes winced as Carson said Tom's first name.
She only had to shake her head and Carson knew what this meant. They knew each other so well by this point it was like they could read each other's mind!
"Sorry Mr Branson. I was going to give them a hand myself but thought better of it." Carson nodded around his office.
"Good idea." Mrs Hughes smirked at this reaction.
Carson was about to fight back against this little smirk but was interrupted by a shout coming from Mrs Patmore. Carson wiped his hands down his head and got out of his chair. He couldn't get a moment's peace around here. Mrs Hughes could see he might need help and joined him in the kitchen.
Mrs Patmore was throwing her rolling pins at Daisy who stood on the other side of the kitchen hiding behind her hands. Carson went over to Mrs Patmore with Mrs Hughes trying to get to Daisy without getting hit herself.
"Mrs Patmore, I think that's enough." Carson shouted over the many crashes coming from the rolling pins.
Mrs Patmore finally came to a stop and put her rolling pin that she had left down. Daisy's breathing was still quite fast as Mrs Hughes pulled her in for a hug.
"Now will someone tell me what's going on here or do I need to send you both up to your quarters for the rest of the day?!" Carson calmed a little but still shouted louder than usual.
"I don't know!" Daisy shouted before bursting into tears.
"Oh Daisy." Mrs Hughes fussed quietly.
Daisy couldn't take it a moment longer and ran out of the room. Mrs Hughes checked with Carson before following her upstairs, leaving Carson to deal with Mrs Patmore.
"So what has made Daisy so upset and now we need to get more rolling pins?" Carson surveyed the damage.
"Daisy just got on my nerves. She just got in the way and then that made me get mad and throw things." Mrs Patmore waved her arms around in anger.
Carson could still see that Mrs Patmore was red in the face. He sent the maids away to work on something else and showed Mrs Patmore to his office. It might not have been the way he wanted to spend his afternoon but for now it would rather than thinking about the dead body upstairs!

Edward had to try and find a way to keep himself from being bored. As he had quite a passion for paintings so was now looking around the house at the paintings. In other words, he was hoping someone would come in and rescue him from more boredom.
Rose had got her book from her room and was now heading down the stairs towards the library. She was quite surprised to find Edward all by himself on the staircase. He seemed to be looking at one of the paintings but she could tell he was trying to find something to do. She carefully made her way down the stairs to him.
"So what do you think?" Rose made Edward jump as she tried to sneak up on him.
"It's nice." Edward was obviously trying to be nice about the painting.
"Oh yes? What's your favourite bit about it? Do you know who it's by?" Rose crossed her arms, trying to hide her smile.
Edward could see that Rose wasn't believing him. He smiled back at her when her smile started to come out.
"Okay. I have no idea what this painting is about or who it's by. You got me." Edward shrugged, making Rose burst out into laughter.
Rose took Edward by the arm and led him down the staircase. She knew the others would be busy outside so someone had to keep Edward entertained. Edward hadn't spent much time with Rose so far and would like to get to know her better.
"Where are the others then? I hope they haven't left because of what happened." Edward tried his best to make conversation.
"Tom, Edith and Gregson went out for a walk I think. Robert and Blake last I saw were heading out to the tree. The others must be around here somewhere." Rose told him.
"Right. So what do you think?" Edward couldn't beat about the bush anymore and had to ask.
"About what?"
"Who do you think killed Strallen? If that's not a horrible question to ask." Edward back tracked seeing Rose turn her face away.
"I don't know and I don't think I want to. I'll leave it up to the police and then move on as soon as it's finished." Rose could see he thought she was too young to discuss things with.
"I suppose you're right." Edward agreed as they headed into the study.
In there was Isobel and Violet, talking in hushed tones and stopped as soon as Rose and Edward joined them. Both of them looked like they were hiding something. Edward could see right through them but Rose was a little bit more naive. Violet nodded at Edward as he sat down next to the fire. Rose sat a bit closer to Isobel and Violet.
"So what were you two discussing so secretly? Hope it wasn't anything about us." Rose snorted as she said this.
Neither Isobel nor Violet answered her. Edward could tell the air was thick with him being there. This was going to be a long day!
