Chapter 14: Optimus Prime's Daughter: Astrid.

(First person POV...)

What's normal, you may ask?

Well, if you want to be bored with the first definition, normal is basically everyone and everything in the universe conforming to a standard, usual, typical, and/or expected kind of custom, such as, for example, the fact that it's normal for domestic cats to puke up hairballs whenever they accidentally suck up lots of their own fur while cleaning themselves.

But in high school terms, normal means being like everyone else in society, depending on where in the world you live.

In essence, being boring and not so special.

But as Dominic Owen Mallary once said, "Our lives are mere flashes of light in an infinitely empty universe. In 12 years of education, the most important lesson I have learned is that what we see as '"normal"' living is truly a travesty of our potential. In a society so governed by superficiality, appearances, and petty economics, dreams are more real than anything, anything in the '"real world."' Refuse normalcy. Beauty is everywhere, love is endless, and joy bleeds from our everyday existence. Embrace it. I love all of you, all my friends, family, and community. I am ceaselessly grateful from the bottom of my heart for everyone. The only thing I can ask of you is to stay free of materialism. Remember that every day contains a universe of potential; exhaust it. Live and love so immensely that when death comes, there is nothing left for him to take. Wealth is love, music, sports, learning, family, and freedom. Above all, stay gold."

I am Astrid Prime, also known as Grimshaft Prime, and I was certainly a rare individual who dared to be different from most high school girls, and for the most part, I was proud to do so.

Many people who go to Jasper High School as a student or employee are also certainly willing to admit that I was beautiful, just like my cousin Ashlida.

Whenever I stepped out into sunlight, my blue hair would glow, and whenever a breeze occurred around me, my long flowing locks would move and flow down to the gentle ripples of my breasts and the gentle lines of muscle on my back to resemble a holy blue fire with very, very small traces of white.

My blue eyes were intense and stormy whenever I was angered, and my eyes would also remind someone of a magical and fragile new blue false indigo flower.

Of course, because I stood at six feet and six inches tall, that combined with my petite but muscular frame meant that anyone who tried to seduce me or who tried to rape me would end up with more than a broken manhood.

But that was as far as they went with how much they knew me.

The people at Jasper High School would describe me as Scarlet O'Hara from the movie Gone With The Wind. "Beautiful, but strange. But never spoiled."

Like my cousin Ashlida, I wasn't like stereotypical high school girls.

I was in auto shop and robotics classes, something that is somewhat male dominant.

And because of my years of experience combined with my encyclopedic know-how thanks to my father, Optimus Prime, I have totally beaten auto shop class boys and robotic class boys at their own game on several occasions.

But this also only resulted in, aside from excellent grades, boys scorning me for choosing something that they think is only for boys. But they stopped scorning me when I got their parents and the principal of the school involved.

Yes, despite the fact that I can hold my own in a fight even if I was outnumbered and even if I wasn't six-six, Optimus Prime had warned me that based on his knowledge about modern American school laws of conduct, anyone who fights a bully not in self-defense ends up in serious trouble, and sometimes, even those who fight bullies in self-defense will also end up in trouble because violence is prohibited on school grounds of any school.

And aside from that, even if I rarely indulge in some feminine things, I do tend to do them from time to time to let people know I'm still a girl above all else.

(Third person POV...)

Astrid then comes up to Jackson Darby and says, "Hey, Jack."

Jack smiles as he replies, "Hey, Astrid. How are you?"

Astrid replies back before she asks, "Eh, can't complain. How about you?"

Jack replies back, "Aside from being told by my boss at my job to make sure that I leave food away from the window before the customers pay for them and aside from my father returning from his coma? So far, things are looking up."

Astrid then says, "And anyway, I heard that Vince tried to bully Raf. How'd you help him?"

Jack answers, "Simple. I got the principal and Vince's parents involved, but when Vince tried to pull a knife out, he had to get restrained and sentenced to five months in juvie."

Astrid remarks in shock, "Damn. I sure didn't see that coming."

Jack says, "Yeah, I don't think any of us saw it coming. But nevertheless, we've all earned a reprieve from Vince bullying us, however short it'll be."

Astrid then says, "Look, Jack, um... I have something to confess."

Jack asks, "Oh?"

Astrid then grabs Jack's face and plants a big but not wet and not dry one on his lips.

Jack looks shocked, but he eventually reciprocates the kiss.

Astrid then lets go, allowing Jack to breathe.

Jack then asks, "Why choose now to tell me?"

Astrid answers, "You should never wait until it's too late to tell someone that you love them or how much you generally care about them. It's said that whenever there's something or someone in our lives we treasure, we never how good we have them until they're gone forever. Don't ask me how or why, but something tells me that in no time, my military parents will be called into duty for something important in a few months. But the rest is classified."

Jack replies, "I... sort of understand."

A car honks its horn, and Astrid remarks, "Ah. That would be my ride. See you around, Jackie boy."

Jack kisses Astrid and replies, "See you around, lovey."

Astrid lets out a brief bark of laughter as she goes to the car, which is Brown Mark in vehicle mode.

Just then, a voice says, "Ugh. If it isn't the first school freak."

Astrid whirls around in a Kung-Fu pose before settling for a scowl as she sees Sierra Landresse and her silent, nameless friend.

Knowing that Jack was watching, Astrid then says, "How many times have I had to say this in short details, Sierra? There's nothing wrong with being different than the typical members of your own gender. The world would be a boring and not very nice place to live if everyone liked the same things, did the same things, watched the same things on TV, et cetera."

Sierra replies, "But girls shouldn't like boy things."

Astrid replies back, "Yeah? Try telling that to the girls in history who did boy things even before women like Susan B. Anthony and Harriet Tubman did the wondrous things for American citizens for years."

Sierra grumbles as she maintains her poker face.

Astrid then says icily, "Listen and listen good, because I hate repeating myself. You and I are on opposite ends of a scale, just like how you and my cousin Ashlida are on opposite ends of a scale. You and your friends like girl things and nothing more than that. But those like me and my cousin like only specific girl things, but we also like boy things, and that's perfectly fine. Don't rip into us for defying stereotypes seen in cheap cartoons and movies; liking things from opposite genders might not be a specific freedom law in the Constitution, but it's a natural freedom nevertheless."

Sierra replies with a sneer on her face, "Whatever, school freak number 1 – "

But Astrid growls fiercely, making Sierra stop and look at Astrid's "now glowing" eyes.

Astrid then says, "Call me that one more time, and I'll tickle torture your feet while hanging you above a swimming pool packed to the brim with salt water."

Sierra replies scaredly, "Eep! Y-y-y-you wouldn't d-d-dare!"

Astrid replies back, "Would you be willing to test that theory right now?"

Sierra and her friend scurry away.

Astrid snorts as she remarks, "Hmph. That's what I thought."

Astrid climbs into Brown Mark's vehicle mode and he drives away.

In no time, they went to Autobot Outpost Omega One.

Astrid Prime, one out of many children born to Optimus Prime and Elita One before the middle and final days of the War for Cybertron, steps out of Brown Mark as soon as they were in the Autobot base so that he could transform back to robot mode.

Optimus then says, "Astrid, good to see you safe and sound."

Optimus hugs his daughter gently before kissing her forehead.

Optimus then asks, "How was your school day?"

Astrid answers, "Well, it would've been bland, but Vince finally went too far and got himself landed in teenager jail."

Optimus' eyes widened in shock before settling for a neutral expression as he replies before asking, "So I see. Do you have any homework to do?"

Astrid answers, "Nope. Thankfully, I was able to complete it during study hall, without using my powers for the one hundred and thirty-fifth time in a row to avoid suspicions. But it also helps that thanks to the school staff purging someone unknown requested, none of the new teachers at school are lazy with homework assignments, disciplining students, and so forth."

Astrid remarks, "Aw, yeah! Another item on my bucket list!"

She pulls out a piece of paper and crosses out visiting Baden-Württemberg state of southwest Germany on her bucket list.

Optimus questions curiously, "Um, what exactly is on your bucket list, sweetspark?"

Astrid answers, "Going to Balmoral Castle in Great Britain, visiting the Eiffel Tower and Louvre Museum in Paris, visiting the Sydney Opera House in Australia, seeing a Christmas-themed performance somewhere, helping Agent Fowler manage his stress levels and anger issues, helping Ratchet realize being a grumpy old bot sometimes rubs people the wrong way."

Ratchet protests, "I'm not a grumpy old bot! I am a realist!"

Astrid briefly cackles as she replies, "More like a naysayer, and so am I at times, but you don't see me acting like a grumpy old man."

Ratchet looks dumbfounded as even Arcee laughed at the retort.

Astrid then remarks, "Now, as much as I'd love to trade snappy comebacks, we got work to do."

Astrid activates her Grimshaft Prime robot mode and initiates her transformation to vehicle mode, which is a 2011 E-One Cyclone II Pumper fire truck.

Even Fortressimus was shocked, but in a way, he was glad that at least one other Autobot in the ranks would choose to scan a fire truck.

Arcee then says, "Be careful, Grimshaft."

Grimshaft replies, "We all will be careful, and if Fortressimus' intel is correct, the Decepticons will be there, and in all likelihood, they might kidnap me just because some like Ironspan think that Megatron's protection order no longer applies in his absence."

Optimus then says, "In that case, we shall accompany you."

In no time, five hundred and sixty-six Autobots, including Optimus' reserve crew, arrived at the Black Forest in southwest Germany.

Fortressimus then says, "Now, I know I'm a commander in a human military from another universe, but we must remain on guard, and we must establish a proper chain of command when this mission is over."

Optimus replies, "Indeed, Fortressimus. Which is why, in advance, I've decided to make you my Second Lieutenant."

Fortressimus replies back, "Thank you, sir."

Cliffjumper then says frustratedly, "I don't see any Energon!"

Fortressimus then scans an area and still gets nothing.

Fortressimus then says before observing the problem with his x-ray vision, "I don't get it; these scanners work properly. Oh, there's the problem; poor maintenance and a torn wire."

Fortressimus snaps his digits and the scanner emerges good as new.

Ladybug then asks, "Can your powers repair and upgrade everything else in our base?"

Fortressimus answers, "Maybe, but it'll require portions of my reserve power."

Meanwhile, onboard the Nemesis, Nausica Robins, the eldest daughter of Megatron who among others was given the order to never harm Astrid or Ashlida and was given the ultimatum of being terminated (killed) if she disobeyed his orders regardless of whether or not Megatron was aboard the Nemesis, was slightly frustrated because the Nemesis' scanners didn't detect any Energon.

A Vehicon Trooper was standing by as Nausica asks, "Soundwave, are you sure that we got the correct coordinates?"

Soundwave answers by playing back Megatron saying, "Yes, Nausica, I'm positive."

Nausica then says, "Well, if you're so sure, you'll need to upgrade the Nemesis' scanners to penetrate carbon for Energon signals."

Soundwave answers while impersonating Megatron's voice, "And risk the energy output of the scanners breaking through carbon to detect Energon possibly alerting the Autobots?"

Nausica growls, "Ugh, good point."

The Vehicon Trooper then says, "Excuse me, madam, we detected five hundred and sixty-six Autobot signals in the forest."

Nausica asks in surprise, "Really? Who is among them?"

The Vehicon answers, "The ones called Skyheart, Nightgear, Leowing, Afterfang, Inofin, Pikblade, Zarcore, Jet-Q, Oderzi, Killgan, Vixenswift, Ironette, Iron Jacket, Bluechrome, Hard Aid, Ultrawire, Nova-Senshi, Ryu-Strike, Shadowsteel, Griphunter, Quickeyes, Razorslayer, Nightdraw, Calmmind, Augmentstorm, Stellar, Solarshock, Codeflare, Soundmender, Valorbreaker, Hardfront, Runburner, Nausica remarks with a scoff, "Seriously? Optimus Prime is actually letting her out of their base?"

Nausica then says, "Soundwave, any ideas on what we should do while obeying Father's protection orders?"

Soundwave answers while imitating Nausica's voice, "The first thing we should do is outnumber the opposition. Then, we should ensure that our engagement does not harm Grimshaft."

Nausica nods then goes to the P.A. to say, "All available Decepticons, engage the Autobots and do not, under any circumstances, harm Grimshaft Prime!"

Several Vehicon Cars and Jets deployed from the Nemesis and Ironspan is among them.

Fortressimus quickly deploys his lock-on shoulder rocket launcher, locks onto Ironspan, and he opens fire, unleashing octuple rockets after octuple rockets.

Ironspan shrieks as he dodges the rockets, only for them to come after him as they are heat-seeking rockets, making him shriek even more girlish as he tries to outfly the rockets.

The Autobots engage the Vehicon Troopers and Fliers, but despite the immense numbers on the Decepticon side, the Autobots won, if only because the Cybercats and Cyberdogs were there to reprogram the Vehicons into Autobots and then multiply them greatly, albeit invisible and without their signals being detected by anyone or anything aboard the Nemesis.

After the Decepticons were soundly defeated, Fortressimus activates his Jetpower exoskeleton and unleashes his firepower on the Nemesis.

The Nemesis fires a stun bolt at Fortressimus, but he doesn't appear to be affected.

The Nemesis then retreats and cloaks itself.

In the base, as the Energon crystals get refined into Energon cubes, which was seven hundred Energon crystals refined into twenty-eight thousand Energon cubes, Optimus says to Fortressimus, "Soldier, you did an excellent job in not only using your foreknowledge to prevent Astrid from being taken prisoner and potentially tortured to the point of being an amputee, but also by remembering your human military training when it comes to enemy intel by placing strategy above paranoid caution."

Ratchet adds, "Yes. You did us all a favor that can't be repaid, Peter."

Fortressimus then bows like a martial arts sensei and goes to retrieve something from his quarters.

Fortressimus unveils in the command center his opposite color replica of Solus Prime's Forge, and with it, he forges together a new Prime height frame for Primus himself, much to even Optimus' surprise.

And thanks to his connections with the Allspark, the Allspark Matrix, and the genuine Matrix of Leadership, he was not only able to bring Primus to life and cure his spark of the Dark Energon, but he was also able to bring Primus up to speed.

And now, the Autobots, Maximals, and Predacons were happier to have their creator among them.

Of course, when Optimus asked Primus if he would like to share joint leadership over the Autobot forces, Primus accepted wholeheartedly.
