His mother stared at them both. They were once again back underground, as she liked it that way, especially when it came to secret sharing.

She was beautiful, he was beautiful and Kagome squirmed under pressure, not of their power but of their sheer good looks.

"You call it fake, yet your mark clearly sits on her neck," She finally spoke,

"It is totally my fault," Kagome offered to help; he looked down at her.

"Quiet you, you have done enough," His mother snapped,

Kagome blushed and looked away.

His mother started to pace. "Such things are beneath you; however," She stopped, "There was no other choice, so I do not blame you; I would hate to think what would have happened should you have failed,"

Her eyes glided to Kagome again. "Though I would not call it not failing,"

Sesshomaru was impressed that the Miko was staying calm; she often liked to defend herself, even against someone who could easily kill her.

"But," His mother stated, looking back at her son, "It could have been worse,"

He raised an eyebrow, surprised she would say no matter how true the statement was. His mother walked to Kagome and, with one finger, lifted her chin. "And it is going to get worse for you,"

Kagome swallowed.

His mother removed her finger and crossed her arms. "I hope you are prepared for your Duty,"

"I killed Naraku; I hold the jewel; I'd say im pretty good at this whole duty thing," Especially when it was her fault. She was bound, obligated, and she had never strayed from her duty before, and Sesshomaru knew this to be true.

His mother smirked, and her smirk was almost as deadly as his. Kagome didn't like it.

"Naraku was childsplay girl,"

Kagome's mouth drop, child'splay? Say the woman who didn't aid in the matter at all, "I almost died; we almost died!" Kagome snapped.

"And by the end of this week, you may wish for death,"

Kagome eyed Sesshomaru. "It can't be that bad," Right,

His mother eyed him again. "Have you told her nothing,"

He didn't answer,

"Afraid to tell her, are we?"

"I leave that matter to you; it is why you are here,"

"Should I be thankful?" She asked,

"You would not be here if it did not please you so to be here,"

"You do know they will wish to see her with child,"

"Um, you know I can just go back through the well when this is all said and done; the mark won't matter there, right?"

Both demons looked at her.

"Explain," His mother snapped,

Kagome thought his mother knew all.

"I come from the future, the bone eaters well takes me there and back at my will,"

"Who else knows of this?" She asked,

"Inuyasha and his group,"

"Miko, you will do well to keep your mouth when it comes to this information and stay away from the well," His mother looks at him sternly. "If your enemies find out, they will use it against you,"

"I am the only one who can control it," Kagome speaks up,

"It is hard to control something that is destroyed, Miko."

"But when this so-called party is over, would it not be better for me to leave?"

His mother actually threw her hands up and turned her back to them. "You think your duty ends there? You did this, Miko you will see it through!"

"I just thought it would be better for him if I left after; he doesn't need me," Kagome looked at him. "Right,"

Sesshomaru inhaled. "Mother,"

She turns her golden eyes back to Kagome. "By the end of this, Miko, if you survive it, leaving him won't be an option,"

A shiver went up Kagome's spine.

"Leave us; we have much to discuss, son,"

Kagome turned her worried eyes to him, and all he could do was look at her, turn, and leave. It could not save her even if he wanted to.

Kagome suddenly felt closed in; being alone in here with Sesshomaru was bad, but at least she knew she would leave the room with him. Standing alone in it now with his mother, she felt like she would not leave it alive or at least with all her blood still in her body.

"He can not help you now, little Miko."

Sesshomaru could smell her anxiety and fear, and the scent was sour in his nose.
