Long ago, when the pyramids were still young, Egyptian kings played a game of great and terrible power. But of those shadow games erupted into war that threatened to destroy the world. "Hey Joey? Earth to Joey!" Yugi Moto called, trying to get his friend's attention. Joey Wheeler is currently sitting across two desks as he and Tea Gardner played Duel Monsters. "Are you in there? It's your turn."
Joey is currently looking at his cards, trying to decide what card to use next as their friend Tristán Taylor appears behind the blonde.
"Aww, isn't he cute when he's thinking?" Tristan teased placing his arm around Joey's head.
"Hey Tristan, Yugi here is teaching me how to play Duel Monsters." Joey said as he showed him the cards in his hand.
"Drooling Monsters?" Tristan asked.
"Duel Monsters, ya nimrod." Joey said, pushing him away.
"Sheesh."
"They've been at it for hours." Tea replied. "Joey's starting to get the hang of the game, Yugi is like an expert."
"So is Kelly!" Yugi exclaimed. "I think she rivals me in the game."
"Me?" A dark haired teen walked up to stand next to Tristan. "I'm flattered Yugi. But you're a lot better at this game. I'm just a teen from America."
"Who happens to have knowledge of the game." Joey said, moving to pull out a card. "Ok, it's time to duel." He placed down a card who has attack points of 800.
"See, each card has an attack number and a defense number." Tea explained to Tristan. "First player to eliminate their opponent's life points wins the duel."
"Pretty good move, huh Yugi?" Joey smugly asked.
"Not bad Joey." Tea said with a smile. "But not good enough." She pulls out a card from her own deck and places it down, with an attack point of 1500.
"What!?" Joey cried. "Thanks a lot. A card that powerful totally wipes me out."
"Whoa, you stink at this game, Joey." Tristan comments.
"Everybody has a starting point Tristan." Kelly remarks. "My dad bought me a set of Dueling Monsters, and together we'd play for hours. After he was killed, I locked the cards away and shoved them in a box in my closet, I didn't have the heart to play anymore. Then two years later, after my mom was killed Aunt Phoebe started to play with me after I found the cards." She explained.
"Aw, I'm sorry about your parents Kelly." Yugi apologizes, making her smile.
"Thanks. I'm ok, it's been a year now after losing my mom."
Tristan wrapped his arm around her shoulders, hugging her to his side. Not far from them is Seto Kaiba sitting at a desk and reading a book, when he turns to look at the group, mostly looking at his ex, Kelly.
"You did fine, Joey." Yugi assured. "I have better cards. See, my grandpa owns a game shop and we get all our best cards from him."
"Your own game shop?" Joey asked, his hands now on the desk as he stands up. "What are we waiting for? Let's go!"
"Ok. Maybe I can even get my grandpa to show us this super rare card he's got." Yugi agreed.
Kelly's brown eyes flickered over to Kaiba, seeing him watching them and she could see the wheels in his head turning. "You guys head out, I'll catch up."
"Ok." Tea nods, before the group starts to leave.
Kelly walks up to Kaiba, as he started to stand from his desk.
"Kelly." He greets simply, stuffing his things into his briefcase.
"Seto." She nods. "I can see you cooking up something." She said, watching him. "Just what are you up too?"
"Me?" He closes his briefcase and leaves the room, Kelly hurries after him. "I'm not up to anything." He denies smoothly.
"That's baloney!" She exclaimed as she followed him out of the school and towards his limo. "You want cheese on that?"
As they approach the limo, Seto turns to her. "You don't believe me, why don't you join me?" He suggests, and gestures to the waiting limo, where the limo driver is waiting with the door open.

Kelly watched as Kaiba's limo game to a stop outside of Yugi's grandpa's shop. "Seto!" She growled, turning to him. "You are up to something!"
"Then you need to stop me." He smugly replied as he opens the door and climbs out, Kelly sat there for a long moment before she climbs out and quickly runs into the shop.
"Doesn't he have a big fancy company to run?" Tristan asked, looking at Kaiba as Kelly walks into the shop. "What's he doing down here?"
"Not that it's any of your business, but I came to see the card." Kaiba told the group.
"Hey, are you into Duel Monsters too?" Joey asks as he walks up to him. "This is perfect. Maybe we could all duel together sometime."
"Joey, Seto's a champion level." Kelly told him. "You're still learning the game."
"That's right." Kaiba said smugly. "Me? Duel you? That's a laugh." He shoved Joey to the side, making Kelly grab Joey's arm as Kaiba walks up to the counter with his briefcase. "I would have more of a challenge playing solitaire."
"What happened to your muzzle, Kaiba?" Tristan asked as he folds his arms.
"As my ex just said. I am the number 1 ranked duelist in the country and the favorite to win the Duel Monsters Championship." Kaiba bragged in that snot nose rich boy attitude. "Hey, you wouldn't last two minutes in a duel against me."
"Ooh, I'm shaking. Maybe you'd like to settle this with fists instead of cards." An angry Joey said. Kelly grabs Joey's arm to pull him back.
"Joey, stop it!"
"Yeah Joey." Yugi said as he got in front of Joey. "Take it easy."
"But Yugi … Kaiba's asking for it." Joey argued.
"Joey, hit the brakes!" Kelly argued back, shoving his arm.
Kaiba payed them no attention. "Now, does this shop have any worthwhile cards or not?" Kaiba's blue eyes land on the Blue Eyes White Dragon card that's resting in front of Yugi's grandfather. "Can it be?" He shoves Yugi into Joey. "The Blue Eyes White Dragon in a dump like this?"
"Seto!" Kelly yells, grabbing his arm.
"It's alright, Kelly." Yugi's grandfather said. "I'm not intimidated." He grabs his card off the counter. "Enough window shopping." He puts it away. "Is there anything else I can help you with?" He asks Kaiba.
"How about a book of manners?" Kelly asks, but her question is directed at Kaiba as she's currently looking at him.
Both Joey and Tristan snicker.
"Hmm." Yugi's grandfather rubbed his chin in thought. "I'm afraid I don't sell those type of books."
Kaiba growled, he pushed Kelly to the side and slammed down his briefcase on the counter and opened it to reveal Duel Monster cards.
"Whoa!" Grandpa gasped.
"Listen to me, old man. Give me your Blue Eyes White Dragon card and I'll trade you all of these." Demanded Kaiba.
"Whoa!" The others exclaimed.
"Seto!" Kelly starts, before he clamps his hand over her mouth.
"Ah nice, but no thanks." Grandpa told Kaiba, causing the teens to be shocked as Kaiba was getting impatient.
"Fine, if you won't trade, maybe you'll sell it. Name your price. I can pay anything you ask." Kaiba said as he removed his hand from Kelly's mouth.
"I'm sure you could, but this card is worth more to me then you could ever offer." Grandpa told him.
"Did Yugi's grandma give you the card?" Kelly asked, smiling at the thought.
"Something like that, my dear." Grandpa nods. "And it's not because of the power or its rarity. This card was given to me by a dear friend and so I treasure this card as I do that friend. So parting with it is completely out of the question."
"Aww, that's so sweet!" Kelly smiled brightly with her fingers laced together in front of her chest.
"Yes, sweet." Kaiba sneered sarcastically.
"You'd feel the same even if it were a common card, right Grandpa?" Yugi asked.
"Exactly." His grandfather nods. "You see, this precious card has bonded with my heart."
"Fine, I've heard enough of your nonsense." Kaiba as he closes his briefcase and starts to walk away. "Senile old fool."
"Yugi, Grandpa. I'm so sorry." Kelly apologizes, before she turns to run after Kaiba.
"I can't believe Kelly dated that high mighty class a jerk." Tea huffed.

"Gentlemen, there's a little something I need you to pick up for me at the game shop." Kaiba said, once he was at Kaiba Corp.
"Gladly, Master Kaiba."

Later, Kelly is in the living room of her home, when the doorbell rapidly started ringing. Sighing, she closed her book and headed out of the living room, heading into the hallway to answer the door. "What!?" She demanded, before she blinked as she realized it was Tristan. "Tristan?"

Together the group of friends ran into Kaiba Corp and headed to the top floor. As soon as the elevator doors open, Yugi saw his grandfather laying on the floor.
"Grandpa, are you ok?!" Yugi cried as the group ran up to the elder.
"Yugi, I failed." Grandpa said weakly. "I wanted to teach that boy, Kaiba a lesson about the heart of of the cards, but I lost."
"Grandpa." Yugi cried.
"How's the old man feeling? Hmm?" Kaiba questioned as he now stood in the doorway.
"Kaiba, you sleaze! What have you done to him!?" Joey demanded.
"We had a duel, that's all." Kaiba calmly said. "With each of us putting us our most valuable card as the prize, but I guess playing against a champion like myself was just too much stimulation for the old fool."
"Seto, I can't believe you!" Kelly cried.
"Kaiba, you should be ashamed of yourself!" Tea said with anger.
"It was fair and look at the sweet prize I won." Kaiba held up the Blue Eyes White Dragon card, then rips it in half.
"Seto!" Kelly cried, running over to him and pounded his chest with her fists, until he grabs her wrists.
"Grandpa's most treasured card!" Yugi cried.
"Yes, the Blue Eyes White Dragon is a rare and powerful card." Kaiba said, pushing Kelly to the side. "And this one will never be used against me." He said smugly.
"Aah, my Blue Eyes White Dragon, my treasure." Grandpa said, before he groans in pain.
Kelly bends down to pick up the two sides of the card, she turns and runs passed Kaiba, disappearing.

Kaiba's office door flung open as Kelly raced in, she ran up to the desk and started to search for something. "Where is it!?" She mutters as she shifted through papers, moving them and some books then started opening the drawers of the desk.
"Hey!" A voice yells out. "What do you think you're doing!?"
Kelly turns to see a boy standing in the doorway. "Mokuba." She goes back to shifting the papers around. "I'm looking for tape."
"Kelly!" Mokuba brightened as he jogged farther into the office. "Seto told me you wen't coming back." He frowns.
"I need tape." Kelly said, ignoring the comment. "Where's the tape?" Suddenly a loud nose is heard. "What was that?"
"Seto must be in a duel." Mokuba said. "You should see this!"
Together the two ran out of the office.

The two ran into a battlefield, Kaiba's back to them. "Whoa!" Kelly gasps. "Monsters! Real monsters!"
"It's a simulation." Mokuba explained. "The stage brings the Duel Monsters to life in the simulation."
"That's pretty cool." Kelly said, impressed.
"Draw your last pathetic card so I can end this, Yugi." Kaiba said.
"My grandpa's deck has no pathetic cards, Kaiba." Yugi said, drawing his last card. "But it does contain … the unstoppable Exodia."
"Impossible!" Shouts Kaiba.
"I've assembled all five special cards, all five pieces of the puzzle." Yugi said as all five cards are on the field and Exodia started to show himself.
"Exodia! That's not possible! No one's ever been able to call him." Kaiba said, backing away on his platform.
"Exodia, obliterate!" Yugi commands, Exodia creates a yellow ball of energy in his hand and attacks, destroying all three Blue Eyes White Dragons, and Kaiba's life points drop to zero.
"You did it, Yugi, you won!" Joey cheers.
"Whoa. He … lost." Kelly breathed with shock.
"This can't be." Mokuba is equally shocked. "My brother never loses."
"You played for power, Kaiba." Yugi said. "And that is why you lost. But if you put your heart in the game, there is nothing you can't do."
"But … but how?" Kaiba couldn't comprehend what happened. "How could I lose to him?"
"Kaiba, if you truly want to know." Yugi said as a symbol of the millennium puzzle appeared on his forehead. "Open your mind!" He stretches his arm at Kaiba and opens his mind. "There Kaiba, maybe now you will begin to see."
Kelly moves from Mokuba and quickly heads over to Joey.
"Hey Kelly, ya see that?" He asks with pride. "Our Yugi won!" He gloats and cheers.
"Yes." She nods. "I did see." She grabs his arm. "Now can we please get out of here?"
"Let's do it." Joey nods, he turns. "Yugi! Let's go check up on your grandpa!" He calls.
