Holly Ryan sighed as she waited for her plane, she could have flown there, only she was lacking in the speed she needed, since she was going to the AHABA or the Australian Heroics Administration Bureau Awards, the Australian version of the Japanese Billboards. It was here the new rankings were revealed and the heroes would be rewarded for their years of service, right now she was the third ranked Hero in Australia, up there with Redback and Taipan. She had some time to kill and she had heard about something in Japan so she took her phone out and dialled a number. She smiled as she heard the other end was picked up
"This is Perry" a voice said
"Perry Grin, how long has it been?" Holly asked
"Hello Hols, how are you doing?" Perry asked
"Just bored waiting for my flight to Canberra" Holly said
"Ah the AHABA, me and the girls are going to watch it online" Perry said making Holly smile "You know Riley still looks up to you"
"She does?" Holly asked smiling, remembering how the girl would light up when she would visit. She was so glad Perry adopted those two girls, but she was amazed he let them started dating, but he would gush at their choices of boyfriend and girlfriend, though Holly did have to smack him for the dad joke when Brittany came out to him.
"yes, she does, even talks about one day interning under you for a international hero's study"
"I can arrange that, I'm just glad she's okay after what happened with Gentlemean" Holly frowned reading the details of that case
"Yeah him" Perry scoffed. "we still don't know if he was involved with The International Cabal or not"
"Indeed" Holly frowned "There is a response force happening correct?"
"There is, but the PSHC of Japan is up to something as well" Perry told her
"I wonder what" Holly said before she heard her name "Oh my plane is ready, so I after to go and it was nice chatting with you again my old friend, and next time don't think we're not talking about that gorgeous woman you have in your life now" Holly smiled as Perry stammered and saying goodbye to him sending her into giggles as he hung up.
Holly was able to get to the boarding gate in time before she noticed a familiar face or two.
"Hanzo, Errol you guys heading my way" she cheekily said
"G'day Hols" Errol hugged her, Errol was around 179 cm tall, had short reddish brown hair, brown eyes and impressive physique which was natural given he was the best Australian hero, and next to him was a Japanese man with dark green hair and matching eyes who simply bowed
"How are you doing Holly" he smiled and gently hugged her. He was also the second best hero in Australian and the world's only quirkless pro hero.
"Not too bad" she smiled as they bored the plane
"So anyone new in the to 10 this year?" Hanzo asked
"They haven't said. But did you hear about the big brawl in the central market today?" Errol replied
"It was the hooligans against Massacre" Holly frowned
"Massacre, he broke out" Hanzo panicked
"That is not a good thing" Holly frowned
"And what's even worse is that The Cabal may have taken him to be their tool" Errol sighed
"Is there a response being put together?" Holly asked
"I'm not sure, there could be" Errol shrugged as he settled back into the plane "How long is it going to take this thing?" he asked
"An Hour, it uses the latest in hypersonic travel" Hanzo relaxed
"That's quick" Holly said pulling her laptop out and started to work on something
"Indeed" Errol said
"I hope Jim is not going to be over the edge" Hanzo said started to read a book
"How's Yukiko?" Holly asked
"Very well" Hanzo said "She's enjoying her time attending Para Hills High"
"That's great" Holly smiled.
After an hour's travel time the trio set down in Canberra Airport which was swarming with reporters trying to get pictures of some of the incoming Pro heroes.
"Damn nuisances" Hanzo muttered
"Easy Hanzo, these guys are proper journoes, like the paparazzi we usually have to deal with" Holly told him before a couple of young kids came up for her autograph
"You were always good with kids" Errol said.
"Thank you" Holly said before seeing a blonde woman with tanned skin, green eyes "BELL OVER HERE!" she shouted waving
"Hey you three, glad to see you guys outside of South Australia" Bell laughed
"Well we can't all live in the eastern states, especially the Gold Coast" Hanzo joked
"Still you guys could visit once in awhile. Especially for team ups" Bell smiled
"Why when Queensland's shining beauty has everything under control" Errol laughed
"Yeah yeah" Bell laughed "I hope Indy's okay"
"She is, got guy problems" Holly laugh making Bell perk up
"Oh?" Bell asked
"Excuse me Ladies and Gentlemen," a man in a suit said walking up to them, a badge was clipped onto his belt "I'm Sgt Roscoe Phillips of teh Australian Federal Police. I'm here to escort you to the venue for this evening's event." he said
"Hey Roscoe" Holly hugged the police officer
"Aw sis, why to make it so hard to look cool" Roscoe laughed and hugged her
"Guys this is my younger brother Roscoe" Holly said
"Nice to meet you" Errol said.
Holly had gotten dressed into her hero costume. She smiled as she saw it fitted perfectly. It was an understatement to say she was slightly nervous about tonight since she was one of the top ten Australian pros. Heck being in the top 10 was a huge honour meaning that they were basically the leaders of the hero community. So she was nervous, nearly missing her phone ring, managing to answer it before it stopped
"Holly Ryan speaking" Holly said
"Hey mum, how you doing?" Zack asked
"I'm fine honey, how are you" she replied
"Good, just waiting for the big event to start" Zack said
"Oh okay, how's Angie" Holly asked
"She's great, we have a dorm guest at the moment" Zack told her
"Oh?" she asked
"Yeah some warp quirk using bastard sent a little Japanese girl here. Thankfully she knows to of me mates"
"The two you helped during the Gentlemean threat" Holly said
"Yeah;" Zack admitted "They were top blokes" he smiled, Holly was worried when she heard about Zack sneaking off to Japan to try and rescue Angie and others from Jackman, but hat worry lessen with word that several pros include Katana, Black Lightning and Batman had helped out on the case. Heck she was shocked when it was revealed All-Might briefly returned
"Well, maybe once the night is over I can get some of the others to help out" she said starting to do her makeup
"Fair dinkum" Zack said "You're going to rock it tonight mum" he said making Holly smiled
"Thanks baby" she smiled as a knock sounded on her door
"Time to go Holly" Errol said.
"Oh, be right there" she shouted "Sorry Zack honey, but I have to go soon" she said
"I Understand, go out there and knock them dead" Zack encouraged her.
"I will" Holly said "love you"
"Love you too mum" Zack farewelled his mother before hanging up. Ending the call Holly walked out to see Errol wearing his suit which was a full blood red suit with a Black Spider on the torso area with the bottom legs running all the way down his pants, he held a black full face mask in his hands and his hood were pulled back
"You ready?" he asked as he walked alongside her
"Are you" she responded
"You know it" Errol said slipping on his mask and becoming the Spider-Hero Redback!
"Welcome Ladies And Gentlemen To The 36th AHABAs!" a voice said as a woman with blonde and pink striped hair talked into the microphone she was holding "And we're just started the Green and Gold Carpet event! I'm your host for the carpet ceremony Jackie Luhrman aka Macrophone the 67th ranked Hero in our nation" she announced "And we're here to see our latest top ten heroes of the nation" she said "And let's have a look who's arriving first" she said as Latino man was walking down the carpet, he wore a pair of metallic green scale patterned shorts, glod bracers and grieves and had his hair slicked back "Well, well, well the first to walk down our green and gold this year is Sebastian Holt aka Reefside, he usually operates in the Great Barrier reef, not to mention the son of Raindance and Desperado two of Mexico's pros" she said "He currently is ranked 19th" she said smiling as Reefisde waved followed by a massively man, most of that being muscle wearing a red shirt, red pants, green, red and yellow shoes, purple sunglasses and a pair of white gloves. Another interesting feature about him was that fact he had emerald green tribal tattoos on his arms and red dreadlocks "And here comes the 29th ranked Hero Travis Broome aka KNUX!" Jackie cheered.
"Sup girl" Knux said smiling, stopping to hug the host "You look good, in fact everyone here does, it's just a shame I'm not in the top 20" he laughed before moving on as the next hero was a soldier looking hero with a helmet on which had a skull like design around the mouth piece and a giant Silver crosshairs on top.
"And speaking about the top 20, he is the 19th ranked Hero Hunter Lithgow hero name Lockdown!" she said
"Hi" he coldly said.
"Just as charming as ever" she said as more and more heroes arrived. Most of them were dressed in their hero costumes making them look heroic.
"Okay that was the final hero on the carpet, we'll proceed inside where AHAB Director William Ayers will be conducting the ceremony" Jackie said "So until the after party good night" she said as the feed switched to inside.
Director Ayers looked at his cue card and then out at the heroes who had gather
"Remind me again how many there are?" Ayers asked
"320" Wallaby said wearing a black cocktail dress "And you're sure we should agreed to what was sent us?" she asked
"I am" Ayers nodded. "And I think it would be good for them as well" he said smiling "besides there is already a student exchange happening at UA; so why not have some of our brightest students from the best school attend" Ayers smiled
"I'm thinking about having a mini visit by the Americans" she said
"Good idea" Ayers said
"And now please welcome to the stage Director William Ayers" the announcer said making the director put his cards away and smiled as he walked out of stage.
"Hello everyone and as my duty as the 20th director of the Australian Heroics Administrative Bureau, I would like tho welcome you to the 36th AHAB Awards, of the AHABAs" he said smiling before becoming serious "I know this year has not been the easiest year to be a hero between gang wars, missing children, villainous plots, heroic murders and also the decline in people's faith in heroes. While these have been felt worldwide, we must continue to do our best and help them. We are heroes for a reason, whether it is to rescue those who need saving, fight villains or just to make the world feel safer. That is why we are here. At the end of the day our job is security for others that is why were come together here each year to recognise our efforts and makes sure that we can continued. Both heroes here and to the heroes worldwide we are that shining light in the ever expanding darkness. So now let's just all stand and take a moment to remember those both here and worldwide who gave up their lives to make sure that light still shines on" Ayers said as he watch most of the clasped their right fist and placed it on their left shoulder before bowing their heads, Ayers doing the same. 'I'm sorry that you had to give up the lives of yours so you can keep others safe' Ayers though before the moment of silence "Alright; let's go to our first award: The funniest rescues, and let me tell you we have some crackers!" he laughed as he looked at a particular hero "That includes you Hotfoot"
"Oh come on" the hero named Hot foot shouted making the crowd laugh.
"So welcome to the stage Wickie!" he said walking off stage as a man dressed in cricket whites with cork hat on. Back stage he saw the Top Ten and nodded to the group who nodded back
"Brilliant speech sir" Redback said
"Thank you" Ayers said.
"Now it's time for that time of the night, Our Top Ten Australian Heroes" Ayers called out walking out on stage smiling making the crowd cheer wildly. "You're probably wondering who is in it this year, Well shall we find out?" he asked smiling before . The lights dimmed making those gathered murmured. Looking to the side Ayers nodded to Wallaby who turned to Macrophone
"You ready for this?" she asked
"I sure am" Macrophone said when she was handing a piece of paper "Oh wow, really" she said before walking out "G'DAY MATES!" she shouted using her quirk "It's time to see who made the top ten this year, will it be all newbies, not changed or a mix?" she smiled "And so we start with Number 10" she said as a drum roll sounded. "Welcome our number ten, an underground Hero from the city of Sydney welcome Damon Black, hero name KNIGHT!" she shouted as a dark skinned man wearing dark grey armour, red sunglasses and a black trench wit sword on his back "He is a silent hero due to his quirk stalker which allows him to move silently in dark places, so not a good hero for villains to meet at night" she joked making Knight raise an eyebrow. Clearing hr throat she looked at the next one, "A new entry at Number 9 is the high shooting Wes Kestrel hero name: Wedgetail!" she called out making Wedgetail who wore a protective flight suit that with short sleeves and a pair of leg holsters. On his back was a wingpack, he smiled and waved to the group "he is able to take to the sky with his support item while using his quirk Skyblast to shoot bullets of solid air at his foes. And he regularly works with Number 8 Jim Beam aka ANZAC!" she declared as a hero wearing a costume resembling an armoured soldier and a helmet coloured green, gold and grey with the Southern Star on his chest saluted "He's quirk Soldier On gives him enhanced endurance and strength, perfect for throwing that shield around" she said as ANZAC Showed it off
"Show off" Knight scoffed.
"Another newbie is Number 7 Adam Bear hero name Drop Bear" Macrophone called out as a Koala mutant walked out, his costume was a pair of red work overalls a with a square of yellow and red cheeks on the knees "He can use his quirk G-Flux to completely control gravity!" she cheered as he sheepishly waved
"Hello" he said standing next to ANZAC
"At Number 6 is Max Gibson hero name Road Warrior" Macrophone said as a scruffy looking guy walked out wearing a black dust covered leather jacket, faded black Jeans, boots and fingerless gloves. "He has the quirk Scrap Armour, allowing her to convert any piece scrap he can find into armour"
"G'Day mates, thanks for the spot" he said
"Number 5 is the beautiful Bell Beachley hero name Shimmer" Macrophone said as Bell walked out wearing her costume which was a strapless gold and yellow top, matching flared pants, a gold neck scarf and amber sunglasses "Hey quirk is Shiner allowing her to emit strong blasts of golden light, when she isn't working as a model" Macrophone chuckled making Bell blow kisses
"Shine brightly people!" she cheered
"Now at Number Four is Simon Thomas hero name Smoko" she said as a man dress in ash grey martial arts robes, tabi boots and a gasmask" "He uses his quirk Smokey to you guessed it control smoke" Macrophone smiled as he bowed
"I'm happy to be here" he said as he stood next to Bell. Everyone in the crowd was excited now
"Our Number three is long time number 3: Holly Ryan hero name Skylark" Macrophone said as Holly walked out waving "Her quirk Wind Rider is another obvious one allowing her to control wind, which includes flying" she said as Holly quickly flew about the room and landed before bowing
"Thank you again for trusting me"
"Our Number two is our favourite Japanese Import! Hanzo Midoriya hero name Taipan" she cheered as he walked out wearing Kevlar armour on his top half with black baggy pants, combat boots and a visored helmet, on his back was a pair of Japanese sword "And to make this position even more impressive is that HE HAS NO QUIRK!" Macrophone told them
"I like to show people quirks aren't everything" he said before walking next to Holly
"AND NOW...NUMBER ONE! Macrophone shouted making the room fill with feedback from the audio equipment "Sorry, anyway for the fifth year in a row our top hero is none other Errol Brock" she cheered as Redback walked out and stood in the middle of the stage as the crowd exploded in applause "His quirk is Spidery given him the ability of a spider!"
"I promise as long I'm number one, no evil shall ever win in Australia!" Redback declared as they clapped and cheered
"And that brings an end to tonight's events. So please stay for the after party where you can all mingle and enjoy some refreshments" Macrophone said "And to those who are watching, thank you for tuning in here and enjoying the night. So Goodnight" she bid everyone who wasn't there live
"Not bad" ANZAC said sipping a beer as the ten were taken to a side room and told they were needed for urgent business "Five years as the top"
"Thanks Jim" Redback said as enjoyed a Creaming soda
"Anybody know what this is about?" Shimmer asked
"No" Wedgetail said looking nervous
"Think it could be about the Gentlemean incident?" Smoko asked biting into a Lamington making Skylark nervous "Holly?"
"Hm?" Skylark indicated she was listening
"Wasn't Zack caught up in that?" Smoko asked
"He was" Skylark replied making the top ten worried
"Is he okay?" Drop Bear said
"He is" Skylark nodded before Director Ayers and Wallaby walked in "Cate, how are you"
"I'm fine" Wallaby said
"So what's up?" Redback asked
"We've gotten a request from the HPSC" Ayer said
"And they are?" Road Warrior asked
"The Hero Public Safety Bureau, our Japanese counterpart" Ayers told them
"What do they want?" ANZAC asked
"Our help, they are concerned since but the League of Villains have joined up with the Guild and rumours of the Cabal being stationed there" Ayers said
"So they want us to go to Japan to back them up?"
"Indeed" Wallaby said "And we're inviting a class of American heroes from Kirby High to come here and meet a class from Jackman" Wallaby said
"Sounds good" Redback said
"When?" Skylark asked
"As soon as two days from now" Ayers said
"I'll tell Outback" ANZAC said "since I was his sidekick"
"Very well, and once again congratulations on being our top ten heroes" he smiled as he left with Agent Wallaby
"Well crap" Drop Bear said
"You said it." Skylark agreed as she drained a glass of wine.
G'day Guys Grizz here and those were the pro heroes of Austalia! so when I was thinking up this chapter i figured I'd do something similar to the Hero Billboard Charts Japan and those mentioned are the ones I'm created so far. Yes I did make an OC in this fic an uncle to Izuku Midoriya who was quirkless like him, you'll see why he's a pro hero later on
You'v no doubt seen more references to the great pen-pal verse then the other two including multiple towards my crossover fic My Hero Black Lightning which featured Zack for the first time and included Bobby who is Mrotrax's OC for his My Hero Pen-Pal series which this is canon to which is why I'm bring up Kirby and had Jet Falcon from his story here talking with Holly showing they are good friend with each other. SO thank Mrotrax for allowing this fic and My Hero Black Lightning to be considered Canon with your fics. Now I may post a actually reference guide to all of the characters I'm created so far plus some of the teachers you'll see upcoming in this series
