So I, (10F) have a friend (10M) who destroyed my bicycle right after we met.
The two of us are both Pokemon trainers with my friend having literally just started his journey most of us 10-year-olds start when we met.
We met when I was just randomly phishing and I ended up pulling him out when I thought I caught something.
He turned out to have his Pikachu in his arms and the poor thing was seriously hurt.
He asked for directions to the Pokemon Centre and I of course told him, but then he just up and grabbed my bike and left with it!
I wasn't a quick on foot as him and chased after him since I knew where he was headed and to my shock I ended up finding my bike abandoned by the road, completely destroyed and looking like it was fried!
This of course pissed me off and I dragged it to the Pokemon Centre where he had the nerve to act all surprised, like he wasn't responsible.
I've since learned that at the moment he and Pikachu were attacked by a flock of Spearow and Pikachu used Thunder Bolt to scare them off.
I get that they didn't mean to break my bike, but I still want to be compensated for it.
Now, I've started following him around and now we're traveling together trying to get him to pay up, but he always tells me to drop it.
It's really frustrating to me since in many other ways he's honestly a great friend who has my back and goes out of his way for what he thinks is right, but shouldn't paying someone (me) back for something he, even if accidentally, destroyed back one of those things?
Since he keeps refusing and out other friend (15M) wants to stay out of it and only tells us to solve it ourselves, I'm honestly starting to wonder if I really should just drop it or if I'm right and I should keep holding on till he finally pays back?
So Reddit, AITA for insisting my friend pay me back after destroying my bike?
