"Chapter 4 - Viva La Révolution"
January 21, 1793
"Vive la Nation! Vive la République!", as the crowd screamed at the guillotine, where the King of France, a Basset Vendéen, got beheaded in front of a multitude of lunatic revolutionaries. Even many started rushing towards where the head was dripping blood to soak their handkerchiefs with it and keep his blood like some sort of memento or prized token. To see how dogmanity has gone so far to become so mad.
"N'est-ce pas magnifique? Le Roi est parti, LE ROI EST PARTI!"A random man walks up to Dustin and screams out, laughing hysterically and rushing to other people and repeating the same quote, over and over again.
'The King is gone?' Right, and I have yet to see true insanity in life. To see the true horror that dogkind is to make me experience this cursed timeline and imperfect world. Although honestly, how much more can I go into the shadows of hell?; how much until my mind goes far beyond its limits and turns my thoughts into those of death and agony? At this point, I have started showing signs, which will result in myself cracking. One day, or Another.
As Dustin finishes writing, he closes his journal and retreats from the location, frustrated from all the chanting and shouting of the crowd and drunk bastards there. As he begins to enter an alleyway, his mind launches into an abyss. He starts paroling into the dark thought of where he is, what he is, and what he will do now…
April 24, 1794
One minute. One minute and battle begins between us French Dogs against the Habsburgs. To know that I would be back in the battlefield once again, but I have yet to see more of what's to come. So far, my French has improved and I was able to know some more people in my time being. For example, I got the chance to meet in-person the uprising Napoleon Bonaparte, the French Bulldog with a great ambition, I will say. He has recently been the talk of the town and basically started this operation to begin with. Hmm, the nerve of that dog. I have also been able to meet a good friend for the past year or so; a dog that gave me the chance to find my inner self so far. Emilien Bellamy, the Black Labrador that gave me some hope….to say the least.
"Préparez-vous, les hommes! Nous attaquons maintenant!" screams out the general in-charge. As Dustin hears this, his friend Emilien rushes towards him and picks him up.
"Retournons-nous sur le champ de bataille, n'est-ce pas?"quietly says out Emilien while getting Dustin off the ground.
"Je sais, c'est vraiment...incroyable," answers Dustin, with a great face of eeriness and fear.
"Hé, regarde-moi. Nous allons nous en sortir, d'accord?," comforts Emilien, with a small and empathetic smile.
"Très bien," responds Dustin with a good vibe and feeling.
After both finish conversing, the army begins to move, heading in direction towards the town of Saorgio. Once at the town, the army got into formation and stood right outside, awaiting the general's orders. With all the slow tension, Dustin started getting a cold feeling of darkness surrounding him, and his hand started shaking. As Emilien notices this, he places his own hand on his left soldier, to calm him down. Dustin takes a quick glance, and smiles for a short amount of time. So, as long as Dustin has Emilien, some peace should be there for Dustin no matter wh…..
*Explosion and outburst of blood*
Dustin is now covered in blood, with a bunch of wounded men screaming in agony and with broken limbs. As Dustin looks down to his left, he sees his friend Emilien across the floor and half his head lying on the floor, lifeless in each aspect. With this attack, the French general orders out to charge, with a frightened Dustin standing right there and an anxiety-filled face. As we close up on his face, he now knows what he can do….Never Trust Anyone.

Never Trust Anyone. I was about to eat my words when I met…..
"Allez-vous arrêter d'écrire et profiter de la belle vue pour une fois!," the legend himself Napoleon exclaims with annoyance at Dustin sitting next to him, "soldats."
"Désolé commandant," responds Dustin with embarrassment.
Dustin lays down his journal next to him and sits in silence with Napoleon gazing at the sunset of France, giving off a beautiful red and purple color in the sky. The troops were all camping there before reaching Paris somewhere tomorrow. As both stayed in silence staring out at sunset, Napoleon broke the silence asking Dustin an unusual question, never before asked towards Dustin.
"Pourquoi écris-tu, Dustin? Une femme qui vous attend, des souvenirs personnels, ou autre?"
"Non monsieur," responds Dustin with delicacy and thoughtfulness, "j'écris dans le but de raconter une histoire non pas à n'importe qui, mais à moi-même. Pour regarder en arrière et observer jusqu'où je suis allé dans la vie, en réfléchissant à mes imperfections et erreurs passées."
"Hmm," Napoleon stares down and thinks on what he was told, then answers with some joy, "Entendre cela m'inspire, si je suis sincère avec vous. Entendre qu'il existe de telles personnes avec un esprit créatif et déterminé, tout cela pour que davantage d'entre eux entendent leur histoire et le voyage qu'un homme a entrepris dans ce monde. Et j'ai l'intention de me lancer dans une telle victoire, pour que mon peuple m'entende pour ce que je deviens. Fusionner les grandes armées victorieuses avec les plans de bataille extraordinaires du grand Alexandre de Macédoine et de Jules César de Rome."
Napoleon then turns his vision slightly towards Dustin, giving him a glance of hope. He then continues, finishing off with, "C'est…mon seul véritable désir."
As Napoleon gets up to take a brunch, he leaves Dustin to think on what he was just told. Dustin then starts spiraling down on one thought that left him in complete ecstasy and madness for the future. That one thought of….
What If I Did The Same.
After 2 years, Dustin kept serving in the war, allying himself with Napoleon at every battle and conflict. Eventually, the two started growing a close relationship as friends and Napoleon made many promises to Dustin as to how he will be his personal advisor on war battleplans and negotiations. Dustin, being blinded by Napoleon's contagious ambition and greed, agreed with the terms and helped Napoleon with anything that got in their way.
And now, Napoleon was to become First Consul on December 10, 1799, and Dustin would be there to witness the event. As Napoleon was dubbed the title, many of the people in the room started applauding him and smiled gleefully, including the lost-minded Dustin himself. And after that moment, a year passed, where the war was almost coming to a close for a second time. Many soldiers were celebrating with joy and hope of coming back to their families, whilst others were exhausted and just wanted all this bloodshed to be over with. Yet for Dustin, he kept a cold face for the whole war, with no feeling of joy nor sadness, no feeling of jubilation nor ennui. He has lost his mind completely, he has forgotten….
HIS PROMISES.
June 14, 1800
"Napoléon, je vous demande d'envoyer une charge de cavalerie contre le flanc gauche de la formation de Lattermann. Mes hommes et ceux de Kellermann peuvent tenter d'affaiblir certaines forces autrichiennes pour les repousser," somewhat pleaded the general Briard, Louis Desaix.
As Napoleon heard this request, he thought about the decision of sending his men out on the battlefield, seeing that they were in a bit of a crisis. Unsure what to do, he looked to the right of him, to see Dustin on his horse gazing at the battlefield and watching how the French were giving the result.
"Dustin!", shouts out Napoleon to get Dustin's attention. As Dustin hears Napoleon shout his name, he immediately gallops to his position and asks him.
"Oui Monsieur?"
When Dustin hears such opportunities, he faces where the battle is being held, seeing the French win by an enormous shot. As he gives a deep thought, he responds with a brave and confident response.
"Oui, Napoléon, envoie les hommes dehors. Nous gagnons, d'une manière ou d'une autre."
Once received, Napoleon gave order to the general and the battle plan went as according.
As Napoleon and Dustin observed the war going in favor for them, Napoleon whispered to Dustin as he left on his horse, "Suivez la concurrence et vous serez vous-même un grand conquérant." This filled Dustin with even more ambition for greatness, not knowing of the great insanity he was leeching right unto.
At this period, I didn't do much writing since it either distracted me from my planning or I just never got the time to do so. All that I have written so far are faded memories or a hard resemblance to what I can recall. Although, during 1800 to 1803, I only can recall the temporary peace we had in France, where no other country dared to declare war on us. That was until a third war broke with the same naive countries who hated our leader's great dictatorship. Yet, I didn't see any of that. I just didn't care. And the special day came, when Napoleon would become…... .Emperor of The First French Empire.
December 4, 1804
Dustin stood along with the crowd, dressed to impress as ordered. He was being a lone wolf type, rather not talking to anyone, and was there just to see Napoleon get crowned. As Dustin kept going in his deep thoughts, the doors inside the hall opened up to reveal a Napoleon dressed up in a long robe of red, and a white coronation mantle, embroidered with golden crosses and silver linen. Alongside him came Josephine, his Brittany wife, walked elegantly and looked only ahead of her. When both got to the podium, the Pope started out by saying some words in Latin, having the choir sing some songs, and got to the real coronation. When the Pope finally got to that part, much of the audience were ambitious to see, even some started wagging their tails in excitement to see the new emperor being crowned, and yet Dustin stood their cold, with no emotion being shown in absolute. As the Pope grabbed the Crown of Napoleon, Napoleon himself got up from his position and snatched his crown out of the Pope's paws. With this sudden action, everyone stood flabbergasted and shocked to see what Napoleon had just done to the Pope and started wondering what would happen next.
"J'ai trouvé la couronne de France dans le caniveau," Napoleon pauses to take a breath, then continues, "Je l'ai ramassé avec la pointe de mon épée et je l'ai nettoyé. Et puis je l'ai placé au-dessus de ma tête."
When finished, Napoleon then places the crown on top of his head and places it back onto the cushion. As he did that, he then grabs Josephine's crown and places it onto her head as well, and finally places it back. The Pope then declares out to the audience, with joy, "Le plus glorieux, le plus auguste Napoléon, empereur des Français, est couronné et intronisé. Longue vie à L'EMPEREUR!"
"Longue vie à L'empereur! Longue vie à L'empereur!"The crowd shouted out, mixed with joy and confusion. As the coronation finished, the choir started playing and Napoleon walked down the corridor, as everyone watched in awe. As Napoleon walked right past Dustin, Napoleon turned his eyes towards him and gave him a slight smile, making Dustin remember what he told him. As Napoleon leaves the room, everyone begins chatting to one another, whilst others start leaving the corridor. And in the midst of this, was the lost-minded Dustin, a dog who has lost all sense in what he knew and remembered. The only thought circling in his mind was….I want greatness.
He had forgotten his promises. Until Chapter 5 - "Reign of Terror Part 2: Snake Eyes"
P.S. - I hope you are enjoying this so far. I wasn't sure if to include everyone speaking French or English, but in the end, to keep it more realistic, I left it as French. But I will let you know that chapter 4 and 5 aren't the only ones that will have different languages, so if you would prefer for future chapters to be kept in English or in their native languages, just let me know in the reviews. And for this chapter, let me know if you guys want an English translation or be left as that. Finally as promised, I made this chapter at least 2,000 words long and gave the best descriptions I could. Also, each new chapter will probably take one week to make, depending on how good is my creativity and imagination, but, for the next one, I might take some time because of school and family affairs, so have some patience for the next one and I promise it will be as good or even better than chapter 4. So then, that is all, and until next week.
