"Where are we going?"

Neil asked Gwen, who was standing near the front of the bus with a revolver in hand, a clipboard in the other.

"Motel in town, it's like a field trip."

Gwen supplied as she scanned the dark tree line for anything that looked dangerous.

David pushed from the bushes with a dark stain on his shirt.

"Let's get moving."

He gestured for them to start boarding the bus, fetching up a baseball bat as the first man in black stepped from the dark.

"Everyone Stop!"

Nobody listened to the stranger in black and Quartermaster fired up the bus.

"I Said Halt!"

The stranger produced a badge from his vest.

"I'm with the state security company and have been instructed to secure this camp."

David knew there was no such thing as a state security company.

"Go on ahead, I'll catch up later."

He exited the bus and Quartermaster wasted no time in flooring it.

No gunshots rang out from the stranger's friends in the shadows as the bus sped on past.

David slung the bat over his shoulder as the man in black approached him.

"Drop the weapon and get on the ground sir."

The man had pocketed his badge and was reaching for the holster on his hip.

David's bat was faster.

"Fwump!"
