Chapter 10: The First Task
When we reached Professor McGonagall's office, I sat down and closed the door behind me. She had a concerned look on her face.
"Lana, I know this week has been hard for you." Professor McGonagall said.
"Yeah. My husbands won't stop abusing me. I got selected for the tournament against my will. And worst of all, Ron has completely stopped talking to me!" I wailed, sobbing into Professor McGonagall's arms. She pulled me into a hug while she stroked my hair gently, soothing me.
"I know... That is why I have been talking to your parents. They want me to be your godmother." Professor McGonagall said.
"My godmother?" I questioned, looking her in the eyes.
"Yes. You're now under my protection, during and after the tournament." Professor McGonagall said.
"Thanks," I said, giving her a small smile.
"You're welcome. Now go get some rest for the tournament tomorrow, you're gonna need it." Professor McGonagall said. I left when she dismissed me from her office. I wiped some tears from my eyes as I walked down the hallway. I hoped Scar or Miguel wouldn't give me a hard time before the tournament tomorrow. I'm already nervous as it is and I don't need their criticism. Speak of the devil, I saw Scar walking up to me.
"What do you need, Scar?" I asked.
"Miguel wants to speak to you," Scar said.
"I know, I know. Just give me a minute." I said. I screamed when I felt the shocks from my bands and the collar going off.
"Do not speak to me like that! I am your husband, you will do as I say!" Scar yelled. I trembled with fear. I dared not to say anything because that would get me into more trouble.
So, I just said, "Yes, Scar."
"Good. Now come on, he's getting impatient." Scar said. I yelped when Scar roughly picked me up by the scruff of my neck. (My LION family does this a lot since I am their kid and cubs carry their kids like this). I tried to ignore the stares of the kids as Scar carried me down the hallway. When we finally reached the common room, he set me down.
I met Miguel in the common room where he was waiting for me. His arms were crossed with a stern look on his face.
"Lana, I need to talk to you about the tournament tomorrow," Miguel said.
"Okay," I said.
"It's important that you are ready for tomorrow. I need you prepared for whatever the school will throw at you. That is why I am going to train you tonight." Miguel said.
My eyes widened in shock. "Train me!?" I cried.
"Yes. I am going to test you, push you to you're limits until you have the strength." Miguel explained, his expression cold and unforgiving.
"Isn't that a little bit to harsh, Miguel?" Miles asked.
"Stay out of this, Miles! This is between me and you're mistake of a daughter. She brought this upon herself when she decided put her name in that cup." Miguel said harshly. His words hit me like a punch in the gut.
"How many times do I have to fucking tell people!? I did not put my name in that damn cup!" I yelled. Miguel slapped me hard across the face, causing me to stumble back. Miles caught me before I hit the ground.
"Lana!" Miles cried.
"You will stop talking to me that way, you little brat! Now come with me, it's time for you're training." Miguel ordered. Miguel grabbed me roughly by the arm, dragging me to the school's courtyard. The training sessions were tough. Miguel would go rough on me, yelling at me for every mistake I made. By the time the session ended, I was covered in blood from his punches and scratches from his claws. Miguel didn't seem to care as he left me on the ground, bleeding. Before I knew it, I passed out. I just hoped and prayed that I would survive tomorrow's task.
I am waiting in the tent nervously with my father and the other champions. I was suited up in my championship gear. I wasn't allowed to use my web shooters during the task which sucked but it is what it is. At least I had my spidey-sences to help me through the task, thanks to my parents. Some of my family members stayed inside the tent to give me some coaching and words of encouragement to help calm my nerves. Speaking of which, I was shaking very nervously right now because I knew I could be dead after this.
"Calm down Lana. You'll be fine." Nala said.
"I know it's just... If I die... I want you to know..." I started, tears welling up in my eyes. Nala slapped me across the face with her paw.
"Don't! Don't start that! You'll survive. I promise you." Nala said firmly.
"Just be brave. We'll get through this." Margo said. I sighed nervously, knowing she's right.
"Attention, please. This is a great day for all of us. Each of the three tasks will involve very considerable danger. Please keep your seats at all times. This will minimize any risks you may be exposed to. I'm sure we all wish our four champions... The best of luck." I heard Professor Dumbledor's voice in the loudspeakers.
"Well, looks like we better get going to our seats," Aunt Sarafina said.
Gwen pulled me into a hug. "We'll be in the stands cheering you on!" She said.
"Thanks, Mommy," I said.
Margo kissed me. "I love you," Margo said.
"I love you too," I said. I looked at Scar and Miguel, hoping for any words of encouragement from them but there was nothing when they left with my family to go to the stands. And it fucking hurt. Shouldn't they care that their lovely wife might be dead by the end of the day? Harry and I were walking around in the tent when we heard a familiar voice behind the sheets.
"Psst. Psst." The voice said. The sheets pulled back slightly, revealing Hermione. "Harry? Lana? Is that you?" Hermione asked.
"Yeah," Harry said.
"Mom?" I asked.
"How are you two feeling?" Hermione asked us.
"Okay," Harry answered.
"Nervous as hell," I said.
"The key is to concentrate. After that, you two just have to-" Hermione started.
"Battle a dragon." Harry and I finished. I could hear Hermione sobbing behind the sheets.
"Mom. It's okay. I'll survive. I think..." I said. Hermione pulled back the covers, scooping me and Harry up into a big hug. I hugged my parents tightly not wanting to let go. I was suddenly pissed because our moment was ruined when a bright light flashed, causing us to pull away.
"Oh, how... mmm... stirring." I knew that voice all too well. It was none other than Rita Skeeter and her annoying camera crew. "If everything goes... unfortunately today you two may even make the front page," Rita said.
"What the fuck is your problem man? That was a private moment between me and my parents!" I shouted.
Suddenly, Krum stepped forward and spoke up. "You have no business being here. This tent is for champions... and friends." Krum said.
"Thank you!" I said.
Rita just muttered to herself. "No matter... We've uh, got what we wanted." Rita said. The feather brushed against Krum's face. The camera shows another bright flash.
"Go away," I said, shooing the cameraman away. (A/N: reference to the episode of squid games lol) Thankfully Rita and her annoying crew left. The teachers and the headmaster, Professor Dumbledore walked inside the tent. I held onto Harry and Hermione's hands tightly.
"Gather round, please. Now that you've waited and wondered, and at last, the moment has arrived. A moment only five of you can fully appreciate-" Professor Dumbledore stopped mid-sentence when he noticed Hermione. "What are you doing here, Miss. Granger?" He questioned.
"Oh, um... sorry I'll just go," Hermione said, looking embarrassed.
"Bye Mom," I said as she was leaving the tent.
"Barty, the bag." Professor Dumbledore said.
Barty took out a small grey bag. "Champions, in a circle around me. Ms. Delacour, over here. And a Potter, Mr. Potter, and Mrs. Potter, over here." Barty said, escorting me and Harry to a spot next to him. I took Harry's hand again.
"That's right. Now... Ms. Delacour if you will." Barty said. I watched as Fleur took a green dragon out of the bag. "The Weish Green," Barty said. Fleur looked up at Madam Maxim nervously as the dragon spit fire.
"Mr. Krum," Barty said. Krum did the same, taking the dragon out of the bag. "The Chinese Fireball," Barty said.
Barty went over to Cedric. Cedric took a dragon out of the bag. "The Swedish short-snout," Barty explains.
"Which leaves you two with..." Barty said.
"The horntail." Harry and I said.
"What's that, kids?" Barty questioned us suspiciously.
"Nothing," Harry said. Harry and I cringed when we took both of our dragons out of the bag.
"The Hungarian Horntail," Barty said. Harry and I looked at Professor Dumbledore as he walked up to us.
"These represent four very real dragons, each of which has been given a golden egg to protect. Your objective is simple: Collect the egg. This you must do for each egg contains a clue without which you cannot hope to proceed to the next task. Any questions?" Barty asked. No one had questions for him, so we proceeded.
"Very well. Good luck, champions. Mr. Diggory. At the sound of the cannon, you may-" Before Professor Dumbledore could finish, the cannon went off. Professor Dumbledore seemed annoyed but led Cedric out of the tent anyway.
"Diggory! Diggory! Diggory!" The crowd chanted. Harry and I have had to wait for a long time, about a few hours for our turn. We were going together since I was his daughter but we still stood alone. We were supposed to grab an egg for ourselves. One for me and one for Harry.
We heard Professor Dumbledore's voice go off on the loudspeakers. "Three of our champions have now faced their dragons. And so each one of them will proceed to the next task. And now our fourth and five final contestants."
When Harry and I walked out of our tent and into the arena the crowd was chanting our names. "Harry! Lana! Harry! Lana! Harry! Lana!" Everyone clapped and cheered when we walked further into the arena. A hush fell over the crowd. I looked at my family.
"You got this, girl!" Jessica shouted.
"You can do it!" Margo yelled. I smiled, grateful for their support. Then, I noticed it. Our golden eggs. Harry and I began running towards them but the dragon stopped us, slamming its tail twice in the ground. The crowd gasped and ducked. Harry and I fell backward trying to dodge the dragon's attacks.
The dragon roared, looking at us with fury in its eyes. My spidey senses went off when the dragon spat fire from its mouth. The crowd screeched. Harry and I quickly dodged the attack, not wanting to be burned to a crisp. We quickly ran away, clinging to rocks when we fell down. The dragon gave out another roar, making its way over to us. We got our wands ready but the dragon slammed its tail at us.
The crowd screamed as Harry and I tried our best to get away from the dragon again. We tumbled to the ground as it swatted its tail at us. The dragon hit us again, causing us to go flying back, hitting the ground hard on our backs. The dragon gave out another roar again. Harry helped me to my feet. We dodged another fire attack from the dragon.
"Your wand Harry! Lana! Your wands!" Hermione yelled from the stands.
"Use your wand, Lana! You can use that!" Mufasa yelled. I took out my wand, and so did Harry.
"Bomarda!" I yelled. The magic shot from my wand at the dragon, causing a huge explosion.
"Accio Firebolt!" Harry yelled.
Before we got burned to a crisp by a dragon again, we had to dodge a bit more and hide behind the rocks. We quickly hid again when the dragon prepared to make its next move. We peeled out of the rocks to see Harry's Firebolt broom coming towards us. We quickly ducked again when the dragon spat fire at us. When the dragon spat fire again, Harry jumped on his broomstick.
"Jump on!" Harry yelled. He grabbed my hand, pulling me up on the Firebolt.
"Woah!" I cried holding onto Harry tightly as the broom zoomed in the air.
"Hang on!" Harry shouted.
The crowd went wild with the cheers as we swooped down on our broom. It wasn't easy because we had to dodge the dragon's attacks.
"Oh my God." I heard Ron whisper from the stands. I held onto Harry tightly as we swooped up into the teacher's stands to avoid the dragon's attacks. Everyone cheered when the dragon ripped off the tent with its tail.
"Oh! Haha! Yes!" Hobie shouted.
"Do it again! Do it again! That was awesome!" Kovu yelled.
"Well done Lana!" Sarabi shouted.
"That's my girl!" Rio shouted.
"Well done, Dragon!" Uncle Fred yelled. The teachers got knocked down when the dragon attacked. I laughed when I saw Rita's glasses getting broken! I looked to see Ron who was cheering for us in the crowds. I smiled because I was thankful that I finally had his support.
The fight wasn't over yet. We had to get away from the dragon and protect our eggs. Harry and I zoomed through the sky as the dragon kept chasing us. As it was chasing us, we nearly ran into a tower from the castle but we were able to dodge it in time. The dragon gave out a roar as it continued to chase us. We kept flying around the castle, hoping to get away from the dragon. We nearly dodged its attack when it swooped its tail at us.
When it did, we fell off our broom and slid down onto one of the towers of the castle. We were able to grip onto one of the edges to stop ourselves from falling. If I had my web shooters this would be a whole lot easier. But it was against the rules to have them. The dragon stood on top of the tower and gave out a loud roar.
"Dad, what do we do?" I asked.
"I don't know just give me a minute," Harry said. When we saw the Firebolt, Harry tried going for it. Meanwhile, the dragon was trying to get to us. Harry lost his grip on the roof and fell.
"Dad!" I cried. Thankfully he was able to grip on another edge. I held on for dear life, hoping not to fall like Harry did.
"Hang on Lana, I'll come to you. Just don't move." Harry said firmly. I gasped and nodded. As the dragon was coming closer and closer to us, I quickly turned invisible to hide myself from the creature. My spidey senses went off, giving me a warning. With all his strength, Harry climbed over to his broom to get a good grip on it. The dragon broke off the ledge Harry was gripping on. Harry screamed when he fell down but thankfully he had his broom.
I still remained invisible so that the dragon couldn't find me. The dragon continued chasing Harry as he fell down. Harry was able to get onto his broom and regain control. I turned off my invisible powers so Harry could see me. Harry flew over to me, scooped me up with his arms, and threw me onto the broom. I held on tightly as we did our best to get away from the dragon that was still chasing us.
We dodged another fire attack from the dragon. We continued flying and flying. Once we reached the bridge the dragon lost its balance and fell down when it hit the bridge. Meanwhile, in the stands, everyone was looking for us.
"Oh no, where are they?" Uru wondered, worry filled her voice.
"I hope they're okay," Gwen said.
When everyone saw us flying towards the stands the crowd went wild with cheers. We swooped down to grab our golden eggs. We successfully completed the first task.
It was a party at the Gryffindor common room that night. People were clapping and cheering for us. Harry and I held up our golden eggs proudly. Suddenly Uncle Fred and Uncle George picked Harry up, lifting him on the shoulders. Hobie did the same to me, putting me on his shoulders as well. I tossed my egg to Margo.
"We knew you two wouldn't die!" Uncle George said.
"Lose a leg?" Uncle Fred said.
"Or an arm?" Uncle George said.
"Pack it all together?" Uncle Fred said.
"Never!" They both shouted.
"I'm proud of you, Lana," Hobie said.
"Thanks," I said, smiling.
The crowd continued cheering but Seamus quieted them down. "Shush. Go on Harry, Lana, what's the clue?" Seamus asked.
"Yeah, open the egg I wanna find out," Pavitr said.
"Who wants us to open it?" Harry asked the crowd.
"YES!" Everyone yelled.
"Do you want us to open it!?" I shouted.
"YES!" Everyone yelled again.
"Let's see what you've got, man. Let's see what you've got." Pavitr said. With a swift motion, Harry and I opened our eggs. A loud high high-pitched horrible ear-piercing screech could be heard from our eggs. We all ducked and covered our ears.
"Close that thing for fucks sake!" Miguel yelled as he was walking down the stairs. I quickly closed my egg, so did Harry because I didn't want to make my husband more upset.
"What the bloody hell was that?" Ron asked. The room became silent when everyone saw Ron and Miguel.
"All right. Everyone go back to your knitting." Uncle Fred said.
"This is gonna be uncomfortable enough without all you nosy sods listening in." Uncle George said.
Ron walked up to Harry while I hid behind Harry. I hope Ron and Harry won't fight again and I hope Ron will apologize to me.
"I reckon you two would be barking mad to put your own names in the goblet of fire," Ron said.
Harry nodded and said, "Caught on, have you? Took you long enough. I reckon you owe an apology to Lana over here." Harry said.
"Yeah, your right. I'm sorry Lana." Ron said.
"It... it's okay Dad." I said.
"I wasn't the only one who thought you two have done it. Everyone was saying it behind your backs. Including your own family, Lana." Ron said. I held my head down.
"Brilliant. That makes us feel loads better." Harry said sarcastically.
"Least I warned you two about the dragons," Ron said.
"Hagrid warned us about the dragons," Harry said.
"No, no, no, I did. No, don't you remember? I told Hermione to tell you guys that Seamus told me that Parvati told Dean that Hagrid was looking for you two. Seamus never actually told me anything. So it was— it was really me all along. I thought we'd... be alright, you know... after you guys figured that out." Ron said.
"Who-? Who could possibly figure that out? That's completely mental." Harry said.
Ron chuckled. "Yeah. Isn't it? I suppose I was a bit distraught." Ron said.
Hermione just shook her head. "Boys," Hermione said.
My wives, Margo and Nala walked up to me. "I'm glad you guys worked it all out," Margo said.
"Yeah, me too," I said.
"I told you, sweetie. You survived and you will beat the next tasks. I can promise you that." Nala said.
I smiled and blushed. "Thank you guys. I don't know what I'd do without the both of you. I love you guys." I said, giving both Margo and Nala big hugs. They hugged me back tightly and kissed me.
"We love you too."
