Chapter 1 – Children of Fate
The early morning sky gave an ominous glow as the sun began to rise amongst the stormy clouds.
The air was filled with electricity as thunder and lighting broke the sky and the clashing of booming gunblades could be heard.
The rain started to come down, making the ground slick and obstructing vision, yet Squall continued to dance gracefully and parry the relentless attacks brought by his sparring opponent.
Seifer pushed his flighty opponent off with a powerful blow. He stood high and taunted him, beckoning him with his hand.
"Come on Chicken-Wuss, fight like a man. Not a fairy!"
Squall growled at him, and started swinging more wild. Seifer laughed and started to push him back more.
Squall chided himself as he realized he was giving Seifer exactly what he wanted. Strength wise, Seifer would always be the Victor and he knew it...but he can't compete with Squall's speed and rhythm.
Seifer grew more impatient with every parry Squall threw. He tried overpowering him again, but he just moved faster. As he tried to match his speed, his footing started to slip.
Squall kept increasing his speed, knowing it was starting to frustrate him in the rain.
Seifer growled again.
"Why can't you just SIT STILL!"
An orange glow started to form in Seifer's hand. Before Squall was able to react, Seifer hit him with a Fire spell blast. It sent Squall to the ground.
Squall's head exploded in pain. As his vision started to clear, he saw Seifer's foreboding form standing over him.
Seifer laughed.
"Now you'll sit still."
Squall turned his head as he saw the flash of Seifer's gunblade steel.
"Argh!" Squall grabbed for his face after he felt the slice across his face. His eyes stung from tears and blood.
"You dirty bastard!" Squall cried out.
Squall drug his blade along the ground and flipped it up as he ran towards Seifer.
"Squall no!" a strange voice cried out as he inflicted a mirror image to the wound Seifer dealt him.
As he finished his swing…an intense ringing began in his head. The world then went black and Squall fell to the ground.
Seifer looked down at Squall lying in the water and mud. Blood covered his face and the ground.
Seifer nudged him with his foot.
"Come on, Princess! Rise and shine."
Squall remained unresponsive.
Seifer rolled his eyes.
"Great."
Seifer knelt down beside Squall and loaded him onto his shoulder. He made his way with him back to the front gates of their school.
