A/N:
Anisoka Week 2023
This is for the prompt "Lightsaber"
Atop a picturesque hill in the Alderaanian wilderness, Anakin and Ahsoka stood before one of the many hidden waterfalls scattered throughout the vast landscape. This particular spot held a special place in their hearts, discovered shortly after they joined the rebellion, they've made many trips here over the years. It was here that Anakin first declared his love for Ahsoka, and where she responded with a kiss that sealed their bond.
As they gazed at the serene waterfall, Anakin gently disengaged his arm from around Ahsoka's waist, turning to face her with a mixture of nervousness and anticipation. Beads of sweat formed on his forehead, though not from the physical exertion of the climb, but from the weight of his impending confession.
Ahsoka, perceptive as ever, noticed the change in his demeanor. She remained silent, giving him the space to gather his thoughts. Finally, after a brief pause filled with unspoken emotions, Anakin spoke, his voice quivering slightly. "Ahsoka, you have brought joy into my life during what should have been its darkest times. Every day with you is like living a dream, and I pray I never wake up."
With a meaningful gesture, he unfastened his lightsaber from his belt and presented it to her, gently placing her hand over its hilt. "I want you to have this."
Confusion etched Ahsoka's features, her eyes darting between the lightsaber and Anakin. "Why are you giving me your lightsaber?"
Anakin offered a warm, knowing smile. "What do I always tell you about your lightsaber?"
"That it's my life," she replied, tilting her head inquisitively.
Anakin nodded, hoping his gesture would convey the depth of his feelings. Yet, Ahsoka's puzzled expression lingered. "I still don't understand," she admitted.
Anakin sighed, his frustration mounting. "I'm giving you my life, Ahsoka," he restated with emphasis.
Ahsoka pondered for a moment but remained perplexed. "But you'll need it," she pointed out.
Anakin shook his head, his patience waning. "No, that's not..." he let out an exasperated sigh. "I'm entrusting my life to you, Ahsoka," he clarified, his gaze intensifying.
Still, Ahsoka seemed baffled. "I heard you… but I have my own lightsabers, and if you give me yours, then you won't have—"
In a burst of exasperation, Anakin interrupted, "I'm asking you to marry me, Ahsoka!"
Ahsoka's eyes widened in utter surprise. "What?" she gasped, unsure if she had heard him correctly.
Anakin, now calmer and more tender, reiterated, "I'm asking you to marry me, Snips."
Realization dawned on Ahsoka, and a spontaneous laugh escaped her lips. Seeing this, Anakin muttered under his breath and reached to reclaim the lightsaber, but Ahsoka playfully kept it out of his reach. "Just forget it," he mumbled, turning to leave.
Quickly, Ahsoka caught his hand, her laughter subsiding. "Anakin, wait," she urged.
She gently pulled him close, their fingers entwining. The lightsaber remained in her other hand. "I'm sorry," she began, her voice softening. "I wasn't laughing at you. It was just… you got frustrated at your own proposal. That's all. It just caught me off guard."
"Well I saw it going differently in my head, "Anakin grumbled in response, but she cut him off with a tender kiss. Pulling back, she found him waiting expectantly. "So?"
With an affectionate roll of her eyes, Ahsoka's smile radiated love. "Of course, I'll marry you, Skyguy." She sealed her promise with another kiss. "It's always been you for me."
